Pros: rooms were good size

Cons: They had lost our booking. REestaurant was not consistently open - though food was good when it was - place seemed almost shut.

Pros: Calm and pleasant location.

Cons: I had to make 11 calls just to find out from another guest that the owner only takes calls from a number not listed on the website and to be able to enter the apartament. Then another 9 calls and 3 hours waiting for the lady to bring in the sheets, which had been clearly used before. Also, we ordered a room with a balcony and got one without.

Pros: Nobody was there to receive us, when we came. The phone number was to a phone in the house we could hear it ring. Later a daughter opened up and after conversation with her mother gave us the room. But the expectations we had, after reading the desciption of the place where not fulfilled, enjoy a drink in the bar grill in the garden etc. Nothing of the kind. Kommunikation with the owner was initiated by us, no instruction to us concerning internet etc. It was not worth the money. Breakfast was OK and as agreed served in the room on time. Had the owner or some capable person been available on arrival, the place would likely have received a better rating.

Pros: Friendly hostess

Cons: The staff was not experienced. Communication was very difficult. This was a failing business. There were no other customers at this hotel.

Cons: The first room allocated on the street was noisy due to frequent bus route and general traffic. Hot - no air-con in rooms. Being overcome by cigarette smoke permeating into our room from other guests. Late night noisy conversation of some inconsiderate guests.

Pros: Very helpful (Dutch) staffmembers. The location was beautiful. In the middle of the forest next to a road. If it isnt cloudy at night you can see a beautiful starry night. Breakfast is amazing, lots to choose from. Only little tip for the owners is to leave a little hand soap next to the sink.

Cons: The room was rather small, a bit old fashioned with a very narrow bathroom. The most annoying were the late night noises, however. The common order regulations don't apply there, or the neighbours just ignored them. Breakfast mediocre. I don't recommend.

Pros: A good stop over location next to the woods. Ideal for hikers. Nice relaxing meal on the guest houses gardens in view of the woods.

Pros: We were searching for an easy reachable place from Bayreuth during the festival as prices in Bayreuth itself is above any reasonable limits. This place is 12km from Bayreuth with free parking, it's clean, nice and quiet - which is just perfect. We arrived late from the theater and notified the stuff last minute (we didn't count it will end so late) - and everything was fine. Breakfast is simple, but quite nice, stuff speaks English.

Pros: Nice and well cleaned rooms!

Pros: Hotel Kaiseralm beautifully located in the Bavarian hills 26 km from Bayreuth, convenient to the Wagner festival (the hotel provides shuttles at 9€ r/t). Across the street is a nature park with sensational hiking trails. I was there in August for the Wagner Festival but the hotel is clearly also set up for winter sports as well. There is a lovely indoor swimming pool and two saunas. The breakfast buffet was extensive and excellent; the food over all in the restaurant and beer garden was delicious, well-prepared, and reasonably priced.

Cons: Plugs to recharge my iPhone were inconveniently placed; in general the decor could be updated; the wifi was iffy and worked best in my bathroom.

Pros: Great staff very friendly and helpful, lovely food hotel set in beautiful surroundings perfect for a relaxing break .

Pros: This is a very nice destination hotel with a nice pool, spa, etc. and good food. One can eat indoors or outdoors. The hotel is in the country and is near hiking trails in the summer and ski runs in the winter.

Cons: Once you have arrived, there are no other places to go. The nearest town is 2 miles away. So unless you wish to drive to another town, all your meals are at the hotel restaurant or bar.

Pros: Extremely friendly staff and a very clean hotel. Dinner in the restaurant was amazing. I would definately return here again.

Pros: Friendly staff, with a family-run, non-corporate feel to the hotel. The view from my room on 4th Floor, overlooking the village and surrounding hills, was spectacular. My room was spacious and cheerfully bright. Bonus of Nürnberger bratwurst in breakfast buffet. The hotel car park has plenty of capacity and the markings give everybody a decent amount of space for their vehicles. Readily accessible, positioned just off the main road past Bischofsgrun, making getting out and about the Fichtelgebirge by vehicle a simple task. Cable car up the mountain is at the bottom of a hill just down from hotel and well within walking distance. Daily chocolate on pillow was a nice touch.

Cons: A few minor things: cornflake dispenser was flakey (pun intended); struggled a couple of times to get a cup for my tea for my breakfast table; tissue box in my room was not replaced once used up. Pillows were curiously unsupportive, behaving almost like mini-beanbags. Among foreign channels provided, no English language TV station options. Whether going into the village or from it, there's a large steep hill to walk up.

Pros: Good breakfast and nice sightseeing

Pros: Excellent facilities with rooms that would be the envy of any higher rated hotel. Everything was clean, well-presented and of excellent quality. The staff and owners were pleasant, helpful and eager to please. Food in the evening and at breakfast was excellent. Room facilities were excellent also and the rooms looked brand new, even having a separate lounge room with TV. Location is fine if you are looking for a quiet out of the way hotel with access to some great forest walks. Well worth a visit.

Pros: Large family room, on suite, friendly and welcoming owners, clean and good quite location just short drive from ski slopes. Walking distance from forest 1/2 mile, where you can find 'Moorbad' mud bath + natural pond in the summer unique place to recharge your batteries

Pros: Spacious 2 bedroom apartment. Quiet setting. Very close to skiing, sledding, snowboarding. Hosts are friendly and helpful.

Pros: Quiet and set in nature location. Ideal for mtb bikers and wandering. Lovely owners taking utmost care of our stay. We've had the apartment, which has plenty of room (2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom). The kitchen is equipped with all amenities required. The beds were very comfortable providing quality sleep. We haven't had the breakfast. We recommend this place highly, either as a vacation destination or just stop-over in longer travels. BTW. In winter there is loads of snow and there is a ski resort nearby.

Pros: Lovely clean rooms. Delightful owners very dog friendly. We took our two dogs and they were made very welcome especially by the owners Dalmatians! Hotel has a big garden and there are lots of walks in the surrounding forests. Car museum, supermarket a few kilometres away. Lots to do.

Pros: There were no problems with arrival, the snow was removed and the house is not far from the main road. The house-keeper came at once and informed us about everything we needed to know and how to call him in case of any need. And indeed whenever I had any questions he was available at once. The apartment was comfortable - especially that we were only two in 4-person apartment but anyway the rooms were spacious and functional - one typical bedroom with two large beds ond one living room with the additional sleeping possibility (sofa), separate though open kitchen and bathroom between the rooms. The apartment was absolutely clean. The village is very quiet (at least it was during our stay) and I did rest there.

Cons: It would be nice to have microwave in the kitchen - but maybe it is there and I did not find it (I forgot to ask). At home I mainly use it to warm milk and I must say that I burnt milk cooking it on the traditional electric cooker for which I am very sorry.

Pros: A very spacious and comfortable apartment. Well equipped with good wifi and parking just outside the door. The hosts were very nice and spoke excellent English. Ideally situated for many local walks. Two miles to a very good Edeka supermarket. All in all a great place to stay in a very quiet location.

Pros: The owner was very friendly and hospitable, he especially prepared all-vegetarian breakfast just for us, which was sweet. The room was comfortable and spacious. The surroundings are very quiet. All structure has a very homelike feel.

Pros: The location of the hotel was great for a short stay in Warmensteinach. We stayed on our way from the Alps back up to Berlin. It was a good stop over point. The hotel itself is located in a scenic area. The staff are very friendly. The rooms with balconies have great views. The hotel is well cared for. The price is great.

Cons: They rooms had a modern touch, but they felt a bit worn. The walls could use a new coat of paint. The rooms in general were clean, but there was mold in our shower.

Pros: I had booked a studio, which is not at the hotel but some 300m away. The distance is easily done on foot and I went to the hotel every morning for their magnificent breakfast. The place is quiet.

Cons: The internet connection was erratic, always unavailable at more than 2m from the door, and sometimes totally absent for hours.

Pros: breakfast is an absolute hit! it is in a very good location, one can reach both natural beauty and cultural attractions easily, the view from the room is superb the owner is really kind and helpful I can only recommend this place :)

Pros: We have stayed at this hotel several times and knew what to expect. We weren't disappointed. We had a lovely room with a balcony. The room was nice and clean. There was plenty of free car park space. The staff were very friendly.

Cons: Nothing - we enjoyed every minute

Pros: I've stayed at the Deutsche Adler twice now while attending the Wagner Festival and if I'm lucky enough to get tickets again I'll stay there again. What's not to love? It's situated in a lovely, TINY town up in the mountains that's not crammed full of Americans. Some of the rooms are larger, some smaller, but they're all spotless and comfortable. The food is exceptional. The staff, from the owner/chef Thomas and his wife Petra, all the way down to the cleaning lady are wonderful. And all this for a VERY reasonable price.

Cons: These are NOT things I didn't like but that you SHOULD be aware of: Bischofsgrün is a little remote - a good 20-25 minute drive to the Hauptbahnhof or the Festspielhaus in Bayreuth, or 40-60 minutes on the public bus (which only runs a few times a day in each direction). Taxis are going to be €50-€60 each way. We were there for the Wagner Festival and arranged to be driven and picked up by the hotel (by Thomas, the owner!) for a much more reasonable €12 per person per opera. (Four in 2016, three in 2019.) Thomas speaks very good English but not all the staff does, and not everyone in town does. I had a great time trying to use the little German I know and they seemed to have fun practicing their English with us (and it should be emphasized, the staff are warm and incredibly hard working). If this is not something that you would find enjoyable you might want to consider a hotel in Bayreuth. Of course you'd be missing out on a lot.

Pros: We picked this place due to the convenient location on our way through Germany towards Italy. It was quiet and relaxing. The food in the Gasthof was very good, and we very treated very friendly. The comfort rooms in the hotel were large with balconies, and the bathrooms were recently renovated. Highly recommended!
