9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, excellent food, superb surroundings.
Cons: Whilst the hotel is cosy, some of the rooms are a bit sparsely furnished, missing tables and desks, and there are waaaaaay too many photographs of lochs everywhere and the ambience of the restaurant could be worked on a bit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic food!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location of this hotel was great. The front of the hotel overlooked the gardens and the loch.
Cons: This is clearly a hotel that has seen better days. The hall, the bar and the small reception looked shabby and gave a bad first impression. The large lounge is badly lit and not particularly welcoming - only if you manage to get a (in demand) fireside seat would it be comfortable. The small lobby next to our bedroom door was so badly lit that we could not see to get the key in the door. The room (and yes I know it was the cheapest option - we were only staying one night) was ok - bathroom small, so the basin was in the bedroom itself. v strange. The restaurant looked to be the only area which has had some recent refitting - again the rather cheap looking framed photos on the wall did not enhance. Dinner was ok, but not the best. Breakfast - again, ok but poached eggs rather rubbery. We were surprised on the whole, as this was meant to be a hotel good for its cuisine. Maybe the chef was away? I really would not recommend this hotel for anything more than one night.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and efficient staff and excellent food. Also lovely view over Loch Ness
Cons: The decor is in need of freshening up. Our room had a Venetian blind instead of curtain and it didn't close fully. Bar a bit austere.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic service, clean well maintained rooms
Cons: the menu was great, although we did not dine as I would have preferred a choice to have a basic menu also so that all travellers on a budget could have dined so unfortunately lost our custom and we dined at a local pub.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We took our dog and so we got a Garden Room - it was fantastic, great location and views, the room was beautifully decorated, spacious, had all amenities and they had also put a couple of dog bowls, dog biscuits and a towel - very thoughtful! It also had a little enclosed patio area with our own gate so we could let the dog out if needed or sit out there if the weather was nice. The restaurant and bar were dog friendly. The food was superb we had the tasting menu which blew us away! Breakfast was also great. As we checked out they gave us a cookie for our journey!

Pros: Good value in the area - there are not many places to stay in Fort Augustus and this one is one of the better choices. Spacious and clean room. Great location, 3 minute walk from canal. Decent breakfast - cooked scottish bkfst was good. Free car park
Cons: Thin walls, you can hear ppl from other rooms. Not very comfortable bed - it was a soft matrace, which I don't like, but it's a matter of opinion and preference.

Overview Reviews

7.4 Good
Pros: The price is about the best in town, but if you are looking for a hotel style b&b, this is not it. This feels more like staying with relatives. The owner is a very nice older woman, and she makes a good breakfast for you.
Cons: The ensuite bathroom wasn't really ensuite, we had our own bathroom, but you had to go into the hall to use it, so you would need to get dressed to use it at night, etc.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect stopover for a break on a wet backpack
Cons: In common with most hostels now they are becoming cheap accommodation for persons en masse on gap year tours
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing, disgusted by our experience
Cons: Reception closed when we arrived. We got there late because our flight was diverted from Inverness to Edinburgh. Tried to call Morag's lodge to let them know but no one ever answered the phone so left message telling them we were going to be late and asking for a call back. That never happened. So after rushing and driving as fast as we could from Edinburgh we got there at 22.00 to find the lodge closed even though check in is advertised to be until 23.00. Explanation from Morag's lodge: reception is closed on quiet evenings... Note our booking was done a month in advance through booking.com and we tried calling between 19.00 - 20.00 call from reception were already directed at that point. Also the full amount was taken from my card and they do not wish to refund as a card and a key was supposedly left at the front door. We took a picture of the said front door when we arrived and we can clearly see that nothing was left for us on it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place along the Great Glen Way to have a pint and a little piece od quiet at the same time :) highly recommended :)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We could recommend Morag’s Place. There were 4 of us travelling together and we were very pleased with our night here Simple , comfortable warm rooms, very good en suite bathrooms and a hearty breakfast. We would be very happy to stay there again - hopefully for longer next time.
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: A nice place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed. Excellent kitchen facilities and the staff were amazingly friendly. Highly recommended
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good location close to Fort Augustus town centre. Quiet. Enough parking spaces. Friendly staff. Reading lamp and sockets at the bed, good Wifi.
Cons: No storage in the room, no cupboard or lockers to store things safely. No hooks at the wall for jackets, we had all our clothes on the floor because there was no place where we could put them. Hard and simple matrice, I had shoulder pain in the morning. Kitchen super small and not sufficient as self catering kitchen, there is no space to prepare even a simple meal.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The evening menu is great and the hotel is very authentic and in a wonderful location.
Cons: The only area for improvement is the breakfast - the ingredients lacked flavour and there should be a salmon option.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beds were super comfy. Food was so tasty but the very best part of our stay were the staff. So polite, friendly and cheerful.
Cons: The window in our room let in drafts and noise. I think there was actually something wrong with the fitting of the window and we did mean to mention it to reception when we left but we forgot. Sorry.

Pros: We had a wonderful and comfortable stay at the Glenmoriston Arms Hotel, staff were welcoming and exceptionally helpful. The breakfasts and dinners were very delicious and service was quick. The atmosphere was very pleasant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had the four poster room, which was lovely - comfortable bed, huge charm with the furnishings and the view of the mountains, and probably the best bathroom I've ever seen in any hotel. Beautiful slate-look tiles and lots of time and trouble taken to make this a luxury experience. The double jacuzzi bath was wonderful, once we'd worked out where the mechanism for working the plug was (
Cons: Nothing, loved the hotel.

Pros: from the moment we arrived our welcome was so warm and genuine, the room was upgraded due to my partners birthday. The facilities were to a high standard as was the bar and restaurant. The food and service was again exemplary and value for money, and the chef even though we didn't see them,it was a delight to eat the food that was prepared The breakfast in the morning again was well cooked and was actually to much to eat

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady that was there was very nice and very helpful, she couldn't do enough for you
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was a reasonable selection, though coming down this morning at 9am when breakfast was being served until at least 9.30 the bacon ran out. I guess we could have asked for more but didn't like to ask/impose. The room was lovely and the bathroom had a very swish shower. Unfortunately we didn't get a refresh of milk and sugar or room remade during the day so had to ask for replenishment on our return on the next day. Apparently there was a new cleaner (though suspect it was because for some reason we were given two sets of keys and so they maybe didn't have access to do the clean/replenish!)
Cons: Other than replenishing the room refreshments there wasn't anything to pick up on other than the above.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfortable, friendly , modern, lovely breakfast
Cons: Nothing we didn’t like

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The first thing that struck me was how beautiful the garden was despite arriving at night. We were greeted pleasantly by Natalie and shown to our room which had water themed pictures on the walls and a nessie on the bed which really gave a feel of being in a lakeside location. There were homemade cupcakes to die for waiting for us in the room which I felt was a very personal and unique touch. It was a short walk into town just right to build an appetite. We were even offered a scrabble set to use which is often a favorite of ours when travelling. The breakfast room had a wonderful view overlooking the garden which appeared to be a real magnet for birds. There was a great variety of breakfast options and everything served was delicious. I would thoroughly recommend!

Pros: The house is full of nice touches and thoughtful details. We were greeted by Sofia and Ian who made us feel very welcome. Both of the rooms that we booked are lovely and very clean, one even with a balcony! The breakfast was such a treat. Sofia decorated the breakfast table so beautifully and everything was freshly prepared. We had to cancel the boat trip in Elgol due to the weather condition, but Ian gave us some very helpful suggestions for an alternative route and we did take the Glenelg Ferry to Skye! That was a brilliant idea! Thank you so much again Sofia and Ian for making our stay a wonderful one!

They were so helpful and even packed up take away bfasts as leaving early each day. They even offered us a lift to where we needed to get to. Rooms were great, very comfy beds, lovely and clean. Even had a selection of dvds and games so great for kids as well. Definitely going back there!

Pros: Fantastic service, clean well maintained rooms
Cons: the menu was great, although we did not dine as I would have preferred a choice to have a basic menu also so that all travellers on a budget could have dined so unfortunately lost our custom and we dined at a local pub.

Cons: nothing!
