When you stay at Fafa Island Resort in Fafa Island, you'll be on the waterfront and within the vicinity of Interisland Ferry Terminal and Ancient Tonga. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a library. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
Pros: We had two deluxe fales for my mum and I. One got the morning sun and the other the afternoon sun. The fales were both very nice, good sizes with an outdoor bathroom and comfortable bed. The staff were wonderful from the moment we stepped on the boat to the island. We both had massages and would recommend these. I liked that there was a new limited menu every night.
Cons: There isn’t anything we didn’t like but if you’re going be aware that there is no pool and limited internet access. We knew this beforehand and the island was perfect as it was, but definitely know that going in.
Pros: Quiet and peaceful Reduced technology, no TV or loud music Private villas in lovely garden Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Would have been nice to have own jug to boil water. We're given hot water each morning or had to go to bar to get it.
Pros: Amazing, friendly and extremely kind staff. The island is a true paradise, with the little houses giving a lot of privacy and breathless views to the beach. The restaurant food is excellent, very well presented and incredibly tasty. The price is ok considering the food quality. They also provide snorkelling items and kayaks for free. There is a fridge in the room ( so you can store your own food if you wish), and they bring every morning a kettle of hot water to the room. The room has instant coffee, tea, sugar and milk powder.
Cons: The boat transport to and from the airport is very expensive. If it was a private ride, the price could be understandable. Instead, guests pay 31 euros per person each way, and then on the same ride the hotel takes the chance to transport their own staff (waiting staff) and other items for the resort, to and from to island, basically at the expense of guests. The shower and the sink, which got clogged, were very old. Missing curtains right on the windows close to the bed. The internet does not work properly, hard even to check in for flights. At night we could hear the gas/diesel engine running, which would luckily stop at some point at night.
Pros: Grounds well kept and raked every day. Our section of the beach was pleasant and on the windy side of the island. However, as the island is tiny there were constantly people walking past. Lots of birds, there were parrots on our roof. The staff are also very warm and attentive and if you ask for anything it's done quickly.
Cons: Fales EXTREMELY basic. There were only three small lights in ours and we were told not to use too much water or electricity. Bedding terrible, the pillows smelt and sheets thin. Although tea and coffee free you have to pay for water. You only get one bottle on arrival. Also have to pay for wifi after a certain amount. The weather made it impossible to swim or kayak while we were there and when we sat outside (and inside) our fale, there was constant screaming and shouting from the children in the fale next door. Privacy an issue. No locks on doors or key in safety deposit box. No blinds or curtains either. We were very tired and went to bed early the first evening. The next day were informed that a staff member had gone to see if we were having dinner and seen us asleep. Also discovered hundreds of small bugs congregated under suitcase on leaving. As you have to pay extra for everything when you're there, I think it's very expensive for what it is.
Pros: Beautiful place to totally relax and rewind - so low key, yet functional
Pros: Everything about the Island. Food, houses just everything.
With a stay at House of Tonga in Nuku'alofa, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Royal Tombs and Royal Palace of Tonga. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Planning an event in Nuku'alofa? This hotel has 861 square feet (80 square meters) of space consisting of conference space and a meeting room. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Was very clean and modern bathroom with hot water.
Cons: Air con was quite loud. Staff would walk in without knocking- to check the mini fridge, later to restock the mini fridge, then cleaners check to see if they want room serviced (this could all be done in one visit in my opinion). They really need a ‘do not disturb’ sign to hang on door handle. Walls weren’t well insulated as we can hear the conversations had by our neighbours. Breakfast very basic and usually runs out of fruit. Wanted to to take a photocopy of front and back of my credit card which I thought was weird.
Pros: Pretty large room
Cons: You could hear everything even from like 4 rooms beside. No more sleep at all after 5.30am. At the end you stay in a hotel to sleep, and for that I do not recommend the hotel, sorry.
Pros: Clean and the air conditioning came through was awesome, the staff were great really friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was great.
Pros: I Love House of Tonga the customer service was awesome, our room was very comfortable and specie and the FREE WIFI :) I will recommend to anyone coming over to Tonga.
Pros: The wifi, the nice clean room, the comfortable bed and upscale linen.
Cons: Breakfast could be improved. It is not in line with the overall quality of the place.
Pros: Loved how big and clean our room was. Aircon was a plus. Bathroom was very nice. Comfortable bed.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like was how the WiFi stopped working a few hours later.
Pros: Clean and comfortable.
Cons: Breakfast could have been a bit more substantial.
Pros: Big room and bathroom. Very clean.
Located in Nuku'alofa, Tonga Holiday Villa is by the ocean, just a 4-minute walk from Ancient Tonga and a 3-minute drive from Interisland Ferry Terminal. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and luggage storage. A shuttle from the airport to the hotel is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Nice infrastructure in shared kitchen like: kettle, microwave, fridge, nice dinning room
Cons: Weak attention to customer (nobody waiting for us at check-in time), internet was almost not available
Pros: The right amount of space was perfect for the number of people I was taking over. I liked that the owners were nextdoor, whenever we needed anything we would just call out and when we leave the property I felt our belongings were safe as they would keep an eye on the property. The location was perfect as our group was loud, so being in a secluded area meant less complaints about noise. The owner was so easy going and made us feel welcomed and at home.
Cons: The location could also be the downfall too as it felt far away from town and we would need to travel a bit to get food or necessities. There was a bit of lacking in communication between the owner at the property and the person taking bookings. Apart from that, not really anything to dislike about the property.
Pros: Clean, had everything I needed, short walk to docks and town and they were very helpful! Highly recommend.
Pros: The staff were very friendly and cooperative. Kitchen facilities were excellent. +
Cons: The location was a bit out of the way with no where to walk to.
Pros: Neil is fast to reply and flexible to meet my requirements. Francis is a legend. Super good guy who is really helpful and was a pleasure to meet. He was the first Tongan in Tonga I met and as such set the tone for my trip to enjoy my interactions with the locals. Legend!
Cons: No complaints.
Pros: The driver met us at the airport at 2 am and drove us to our accommodation which we were very grateful for. A driver took us to the ferry in the morning.
Cons: The beds were hard and uncomfortable. No hot water to have a shower. We had paid to have breakfast included but there was no staff at all during our stay.
Pros: Large house with a big kitchen that guests can use. There is also a big sitting room with comfy sofas. The location is quite far from town so its a long walk. We had a hire car which helped. The owner is very friendly and lives in the house next door. She can collect you to and from the airport for an additional fee if needed. There is a restaurant nearby which you can walk to but otherwise its a bit further to town. Comfortable place though with lots of space, particularly for large groups and families.

Pros: Easy the guy who helped us was awsome Very accommodating He took us to the airport at 4 in the morning and still prepared us a beautiful spread of fruit and coffee we really appreciated that... and he was really helpful

When you stay at Little Italy Hotel in Nuku'alofa, you'll be on the waterfront, within a 5-minute drive of Royal Palace of Tonga and Royal Tombs. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great location, easy walk into town but far enough away to be nice and peaceful. An interesting view from the deck of the foreshore and fisher people going about their day. The staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Cons: Despite email confirmation of an airport pickup this didn’t happen and the email communication was denied.
Pros: Clean and good breakfast, very comfy high standard rooms
Cons: Cleaners barges in despite’s No Disturb signs on the door.
Pros: The staff was truly wonderful and always helpful. The hotel is a 20-minute walk from the royal palace and the center of nuku'alofa -- with restaurants, cafes, and the post office. The ocean-view room (all rooms are upstairs, no elevator) had a beautiful view of the tropical lagoon. The owner is italian, and the restaurant on the first floor has excellent food. The staff at the front desk were very helpful with car rental, which was very affordable.
Pros: Super helpful staff Great to have restaurant below for lunch and dinner. Location was beautiful Rooms were tidy and had a great balcony
Cons: Sometimes the staff couldn't be found on the front desk. The guy at the front desk was adamant our flight leaving to Sydney was at 7am when we knew it was at 6am and then our shuttle only just made it to check in. Few small cockroaches running around but not really an issue. Fridge was very loud next to the bed and was leaking when we first arrived . We got used to the sound after two nights. Restaurant below could be noisy at times. Some of the hot food for breakfast wasnt warm
Pros: Staff are very friendly
Pros: The location and the high speed internet. Also, the restaurant in the hotel serves delicious food. I greatly appreciate the upgrade to ocean view room.
Cons: Maybe just - they don't serve for lunch. Probably they could provide meal options for lunch only for guests.
The Village Backpackers is located in Nuku‘alofa and features a restaurant, a shared lounge and a garden. The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, an ATM and currency exchange for guests.
Pros: Mia and her team are really lovely and really looked after me. Great location right in the centre of town.
Cons: Quite noisy around the hostel
Pros: Very good pace to stay near downtown Nukualofa and super friendly staff especialy the manager Mia who was so helpful to me. I will for sure stay there again when I come back to Tonga.
Pros: At town center, walking distance to everything Friendly staff
Cons: This is supposed to be a Western style backpacker hostel but it does not have a shared kitchen where we can cook or a refrigerator to store our leftover foods. Friendly suggestions: please nail a small shelf next to each electric outlet so we can put our phone or eyeglasses Put a few chairs in the room will be nice
Pros: The staff here really make this place an absolute delight! I stayed for 4 nights on my own and loved it. The ladies organised everything for me with a smile, the food is yummy and cheap, and the location is perfect. I’ll be back!
Pros: The staff are thé best always here for helping us !
Cons: The WiFi doesn’t work very well ...
Pros: Location was great, right in the center of town with security. Lovely and helpful stuff. Super comfortable bed. Very good shower with hot water. Large room.
Cons: Thin walls
Pros: food nice
Cons: need adjust fans for the upper beds

Pros: The restaurant was great and we had one of our best meals there.
Cons: Could hear the night club’s booming music from 9am until the wee hours of the morning. Not impressed.
Pros: Pleasant ambience. Good quality restaurant on site with indoor and outdoor dining areas.Attentive staff with excellent English.
Cons: Poor lighting in room. Very noisy at night - not sure if this was from on site restaurant or local bar but it disturbed sleep.
Pros: Really great hotel, good food and fantastic service.
Pros: The beautiful staff.
Cons: You could hear people walking around.
Pros: Staff are very friendly and very helpful, they are very very good. A room is clean, big, very comfortable. Diffanately I will stay in this resort again!
Cons: Resort was very quiet but surrounding other place was playing loud music sometimes.
Offering a restaurant and a communal veranda, NOA Guest House is located in Nuku‘alofa. It features private rooms, a shared kitchen and lovely gardens. Nuku'alofa NOA Guest House is conveniently located just 5 minutes' walk from the Royal Palace and 8 minutes' walk from Taufa’ahau Road's shops, bars and restaurants. You can relax on the sun loungers, or book a tour via the tour desk, which arranges whale watching, diving and island tours.
Pros: Bedding clean and comfortable. ( one pillow felt full of rocks ! ) Staff very friendly and helpful. The faults listed below were eventually fixed after 3 days !!
Cons: Draws in tallboy had previous occupants Rubbish in it. Shower head broken, no shower curtain for 3 days. No plug in hand basin. Tops of hot and cold taps were reversed and one tap frozen would not turn on. Hot tap had cold tap top, cold tap had hot tap top. Electrical socket was hanging out of the wall on its wires. Toilet seat broken. The kitchen facilities were adequate but previous users didn't always clean up their dirty pots and plates.
Pros: The staff is very helpful and organises trips and tours. I highly recommend to do the island tour with the guide from the local staff! I spend a great day. As mentioned in one of the comments, the 10 bed dorm is not locked at all. However, there is a security day and night. I did feel safe.
Cons: For the 10 bed dorm there is only one shower and one toilet. More options would be certainly more comfortable. However, I did not have to wait.
Pros: Super friendly staff and very helpful. Accommodation is clean and very central. I'll stay again. I definitely recommend the guesthouse.
Pros: Super friendly staff. Thanks for everything
Pros: Great location!
Pros: Friendly services, clean surrounding and very handy to Town, shops, and transportation! :-)
Cons: All good, no complaint
Pros: Awesome Staff very friendly, awesome facilities!
Cons: Tonga and this guest house was my first destination from home. First morning, woke up with bites on my hands and arms. The next morning, there were more bites, rush and swelling. Went to pharmacists who said that they are bedbugs and gave me antihistamine and cream. He asked me where I am staying, I said NOA, he said 'yeah, bedbugs for sure'. Told and showed my body to front desk. She contacted the boss who was overseas. Boss was requesting medical records from me! I was heading to Eua and did not have time to go to dr too. Attaching photos of bedbugs bites.
Pros: Overall a nice place to stay and good value for money. I stayed in the dorm, which had comfortable beds and two fans to cool it off while sleeping, which was nice. The security guard Siwa is very friendly and helpful, and it’s nice to know that someone is watching over the place at night.
Cons: There were constant maintenance issues throughout my stay - showers, toilets, the phone at reception. For the most part the staff were quick to respond as the situation allowed.

Pros: The staff were wonderful, very welcoming and always happy to help. It was a quiet and peaceful island to visit.

Pros: Great location , friendly staff, clean rooms
Cons: The property is tired and needs some attention.
Pros: Privacy abounds. Beautiful location with activities available to keep you happy good food at reasonable prices.

Pros: The staff were amazing. Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and helped make sure we enjoyed our stay. Good food too! Lovely outlook and the rooms were well equipped with everything we needed. Mosquito nets (especially over the master bed) were great and nice to have a fridge in the room too! We'd love to come back for a longer stay.
Cons: The pool was nice but does need a clean and a bit of an upgrade - but not too much of a biggie overall as was still great to be able to choose between pool and beach!
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Offering free snorkelling trips and village walks every day. Awesome to relax and unwind but also have a little cultural experience.
Pros: location right on beach. stunning. food fabulous, fresh fish everyday. great cocktails. staff chilled but warm and friendly and so helpful. free surf skis and kayaks, free snorkelling trip every day. free pool and table tennis. awesome.

Pros: Such a beautiful place to stay as a family. We stayed in TANOA for 9 nights and had such an amazing experience including my son who is 3years old. Safe for the kids and staff was amazing! If you are going to stay at a hotel in Tonga, TANOA is the place to stay !!

Whatever we asked her about she was able to assist us e.g. rental car, driver’s licence, passport requests, booking accommodation on another island, ferry bookings etc. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she and her staff went out of their way to make our stay perfect.
Pros: Solid breakfast. Good for one night stay while transiting to Vava'u. Beds were comfortable and clean. Nice little balcony.

Cons: Should show taxes in the total sum!
Pros: Staff were very friendly. Comfortable beds
Pros: Location and staff top!

Located in Nuku'alofa, Tungi Colonnade Hotel is within a 5-minute drive of Flea Market and Royal Tombs. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and an elevator. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: It was poor no fruits no eggs except Sunday no brown bread and no cheese but there was a nice café and a few take away food not far which was very convenient
Cons: Noises in any time of the night It was safe to stay in thid hotel
Pros: Lovely house to stay in. Host was very accommodating.
Cons: Bed was not very comfortable
Pros: The location and availability and initially the cost.
Cons: Entrance to hotel was confusing. When we first arrived, it was late at night and we were greeted by the kind security who was trying to organise our room but had to go back forth in the phone to arrange it with the actual person. We were initially confirmed $250TOP for 3 adults and 2 nights. No money was taken before staying and when checking out, we were told $400TOP. I tried so hard to calculate how it got to that price but I just wanted to get out of there as it was beginning to get frustrating. We booked to have breakfast included but upon arrival and the next day we were never shown where the communal area was and we stumbled upon this by exploring the building. Aircon in room was barely working so grateful the fan was.
Pros: The bed is very comfortable. The hotel is located in the centre of CBD.
Cons: Breakfast can be improved.
Pros: Air Con was great to relax and sleep well. Hot water and shower was good for Tonga. Location makes it easy to eat out and shop. A modern stay at a great price.
Cons: Nothing was very clean. House keeping was inconsistent. Staff were friendly but didnt communicate much. Parking is frustrating.
Pros: Bed so comfortable
Cons: German cockroaches
Pros: Our room was very clean. The hotel is central to many shops, cafes etc
Cons: The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The shower was dreadful! No pressure at all.
Pros: Friendly staff, perfect location
Cons: Cockroaches everywhere, poor breakfast, found some other people's underwear on the terrace.
Located in Nuku'alofa, Villa Ishadora is within a 15-minute walk of Interisland Ferry Terminal and Ancient Tonga. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: I would absolutely recommend! Mele makes staying at the Villa exceptional. Thank you Mele and Kristy and and the other two girls for everything. Villa is at a great location and is quite and the view is MAGNIFICENT! To wake up everyday to see the Pacific Ocean was amazing! I will be back Mele ❤️. Thank u Villa Ishadora you made my stay in Tonga amazing.
Pros: First and foremost the people were great and willing to go to all ends to help you. Prices were embarrassing low. However, not a lot to see and do. Staff made us breakfast to order each morning and one evening went to pick up our dinner for us. Superb efforts.
Cons: The infrastructure on Tonga is very primitive and this is no exception. Even the resorts are not really resorts. Our hotel although roomy and seemingly across the street from the ocean was not really as it was very rocky, not good for swimming with no real facilities. Only one cafe in walkable distance and it was closed for dinner. Paying by credit card was iffy at times. Perhaps in another 25 years or so it will be what westerners expect. Right now its an adventure.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, very clean and comfortable room and a great view.
Pros: Very comfortable super king bed with air con. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here if you’re travelling to Tongatapu
Pros: The staff are amazing and made us feel right at home every occasion we have stayed there. Facilities are more than enough. I will be booking accommodation there every time I visit Tonga.
Pros: Across from beach
Pros: Mary and the rest of the staff were amazing. Whenever we needed anything Mary was sure to see to it that it was taken care of. The breakfast was great everyday and the view was amazing up there. The ladies would be waiting upstairs until we woke up to prepare our breakfast. The laundry service was cheap only $10 (pa’anga) a load. The WiFi worked well for us.
Cons: The pictures online are a bit misleading. The room isn’t as up to date as pictured. The sheets were unwashed, there were a few foreign hairs and the sheets were itchy. We asked to have them changed. The tv only has two channels which I guess isn’t that important on vacation.
Located in Nuku'alofa, The Seaview Lodge is on the boardwalk, within a 15-minute walk of Royal Palace of Tonga and Royal Tombs. Featured amenities include express check-in, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The staff were incredible. Cooper and Rosita were so welcoming and helpful. They made our stay.
Pros: Staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. Truly. We were upgraded for free and it was a great choice to spend there our honeymoon.
Pros: Breakfast was somewhat disappointing as it only included toast and tea/coffee/juice. It cost extra for eggs etc.
Cons: Availability of filtered water would have been beneficial to save on the use of bottles.
Pros: The staff were super friendly and lovely - 11 out of 10 for that. Short walk to city centre, close to the king’s palace.
Cons: Pictures made it seem like there was beachfront accessibility but there isn’t. Rocky shore. Someone was hacking down trees beside our window from 7am onwards. Zero soundproofing and heard every single noise from footprints to voices. Bed was hard like a rock. One unwrapped soap, no shampoo/conditioner. One set of towels for two people. Extremely small room. Hard to open luggage.
Pros: Good location close to centre of Nuku’alofa. Very comfortable bed and a nice breakfast. Good coffee.
Pros: Clean and comfortable. Modern amenities, in a charming setting. Staff is helpful, food in good. Easy walk to town. Will stay again!
Pros: Very clean and comfortable. Great bathroom and king size bed. Food was excellent. Close walk to the Palace and downtown. Very easy pick up from the airport and return with Mr Hema.
Cons: all was good
Pros: good taste
Cons: Wifi low
Pros: Location was great - very handy and within walking distance of town. Staff were very helpful and organised our rental car for us.
Cons: Bed was very hard but room well presented.

Pros: Everything was at a very good standard. Wifi connection was excellent, bed was comfortable, all other areas were great and felt welcoming. Close to transport and car available was great. Very home feeling. Will stay again
Pros: Excellent, roomy and equipped apartment for my stay in Nuku'alofa. Easy walking distance to the middle of the town.
Pros: Close to town :) easy to find! There was a little bit of construction happening but it didn’t affect my stay. Definitely glad there was A/C as it was still really hot there because when I left NZ, it was almost the beginning of winter. And having wifi there also helped! I was able to keep my family updated on my holiday. It was a home away from home & I enjoyed my short visit To Tonga :) My flight was quite late, but as soon as I arrived the woman who welcomed me was awesome! *The Fan in the lounge area wasn’t working, but it didn’t bother me because there was A/C. I would definitely stay here again! Thank you :)

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and multilingual staff. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Staff kept treating me as a local Tongan and were asking my coworkers why I am speaking the language!!!although I confirmed to them that I am Sudanese
Pros: Loved the beds Liked the furniture Loved the people Loved the location
Cons: Electrical side lights were dangerous and some electrical outlets did not work. Cleanliness was not so good - under the beds was not cleaned at all. Issues with the door lock, meant we had to change rooms. The slider door in the new room to the balcony would not lock. Was expensive for what we got.
Pros: Property was 15 minute's walk from the outstanding Friends Cafe where we took all our meals.
Cons: Where does one begin? We were met by flies in our room upon checkin. No lift. The power and water and paid WiFi went off for hours and the extremely rude and arrogant general manager Teki Faletau was neither apologetic nor offering to knock one cent off the room rate for the huge inconvenience to us. He said it wasn't HIS fault. The hotel is an ugly poured concrete slab, not the "boutique hotel" as advertised. The onsite Chinese restaurant was poor at best with no Western offerings. Menu was in Chinese. Clearly a very basic Cinese businessman's hotel. Save your money and search elsewhere. Dr Steven and Janet Stanton Pasadena, CA
Pros: The staff are great, nothing is too much trouble. The only thing is the bathroom sink is cracked and the shower is a little outdated!!
Cons: Having a restaurant next door was fab.
Pros: Room was very clean and love the service. Very friendly staff
Pros: Clean and large rooms. Helpful reception staff
Cons: Same cold breakfast every dayl
Pros: First of the the lovely staff who friendly and help with everything we asked for. Our guest come and go without any problems. My guest have free breakfast too. Staff are kind and restaurant was affordable and yummy food even I’m vegetarian I get to choose from many vegetarian option
