We are minutes from Carolina Crossroads music and entertainment district, Lake Gaston, the Randy Parton Theater, the Roanoke Canal Museum and Historic Halifax State Historic Site. The Super 8 is within 6 miles of many restaurants and shopping areas. Nearby eateries include Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurant, Applebees, Logans Roadhouse and many more. All guest rooms come equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, desks, hair dryers, irons, ironing boards, pillow-top mattresses, and cable television. Pros:It was Cheap.
Cons:It was dingy and out dated. One of the beds sounded like barking dogs every time you moved on it. Breakfast bar was out of milk, juice and coffee. As I was checking in, there was a line of people complaining about everything from doors not working to blood stains on mattresses. The staff was friendly and did their best to accommodate all the issues. That should have been a clue to leave but room was already booked online and it was the middle of the night and we were tired from driving for hours. For $50 a night, it was sufficient to lay our heads and was dog friendly. My bed was ok. My sister got the loud one which left her with no sleep. Overall it’s one of those places that leaves you feeling like you need to shower after you stay there’s

Cons:Thighs was NOT a Best Western as Kayak led us to believe. It was a Super 8 Motel. The location was directly on the highway 95, so it was noisy. We were on a ground level room where cars were pulled up in front of the rooms loading and unloading guests and this was NOISY. Not only were guests outside loud, upstairs there was a party where people were smoking weed and flicking cigarettes off their balcony onto the cars parked below, ours included. So I guess the 1st floor was for non-smokers and 2nd was for HEAVY smokers. Disgusting and felt a little seedy. The room was small and the beds were cramped into it with a tube tv and tiny bathroom that had a nasty smell. Due to the fact that it was almost midnight when we checked in and we had already looked for other hotels and all were full we just wanted to sleep at this point. We all got a little rest, fully dressed. There was a complimentary breakfast at the lobby the next morning which included do it yourself waffles, two cereals, two juices, oranges or apples, coffee, grits, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and bagels/biscuits. This was the only part of the stay which was ok. I don't know who previously gave it 2 1/2 stars but they were obviously smoking what the guests in the other rooms had. I wouldn't give it more than 1 star. Only stay there if you have to and ask for a room on the opposite side of 95. Or even better, don't.
