Room was a comfortable size and quite clean. Very comfortable for a couple looking for a weekend getaway as you're super close to both Gloucester and the Cotswolds. Spa and leisure facilities were a big, particularly during the Covid19 lockdown announcements, but it was a shame that we hadn't been informed that the sauna was not working beforehand.
Breakfast and food options within the restaurant could be considered a bit pricey for the area. You can seek out cheaper, more cost effective options outside with better quality. However, we did like the fact they made these available to guests after they had been ordered to close, so we were grateful for this.
Overall it's a fine hotel.
I booked dinner via booking.com and the hotel charged me an extra random 6 pounds for that during checkout. It wasn't indicated anywhere beforehand and it's quite frustrating since it feels like a rip-off.
Very tired hotel that certainly needs upgrading and updating, especially the rooms.
The reception staff were wonderful.
The "bar" closed at 23 15. With it then taking the night portaging team 45 mins to fetch a soda water and orange cordial. The gym closed too early and opened too late, as did the swimming pool. The foyer smelled of faeces, and everywhere else smelled of stale cigarette smoke.
The dining room was too cold to sit comfortably.
Set on the fringes of the historic city, Gloucester, BW Signature Collection by Best Western is ideally placed for exploring a wealth of attractions and natural wonders. You can certainly keep active while you are here as within the hotel there is a squash court, swimming pool and gym, while a challenging golf course and the longest ski slope in England are just across the road. You will also find miles of cycling routes and beautiful walks in the nearby Cotswolds and Forest of Dean. Those who prefer a slower pace of life can feed the birds at Slimbridge Wetland Centre, go for a boat ride at the National Waterways Museum or explore Gloucester’s famous 11th-century cathedral, three miles from the hotel. When your day is done, sink into crisp white sheets and plump pillows in one of our 95 tastefully decorated contemporary bedrooms. We have a variety of accommodation options to choose from, including family rooms and spacious suites with seating and dining areas. Each room comes with free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, writing desk and tea and coffee-making facilities. Football fans can watch BT Sport in our bar and lounge area, where light bites are also served.
