Overview

Maswik Lodge is located inside Grand Canyon National Park, originally built in the 1960s. The property once belongs to the Motor Lodge, constructed in the 1920’s by Fred Harvey Company. In the 60s, many of the cabins were demolished and replaced with modern, two-story hotel rooms, with only the original stone pillars remaining to remind people of the origin of this property. The lodge offers 250 rooms and cabins that are situated among beautiful Ponderosa pine forests, just about a quarter-mile from the edge of the Grand Canyon.

The property consists of a main lodge, which houses the front desk, gift shop, and the Maswik Food Court and Pizza Pub. Guest rooms are spread throughout two buildings located nearby, known simply as Maswik North and South. North rooms are located in 12 two-story buildings with outside room entry. Guest rooms feature a coffeemaker, refrigerator, individual climate control, flat-screen TV with satellite, in-room climate control, and other creature comforts. South rooms, which are slightly smaller, are nearby in 6 buildings, which also feature outdoor entry and the amenities listed above. The hotel has a select number of accessible guest rooms.

This lodge offers free area shuttle services, as well as a front desk with limited hours. It is also close to the Grand Country Backcountry Information Center, Hopi House, Lookout Studio, and Maricopa Point. Plus, all of the attractions and outdoor adventures of the Grand Canyon and Grand Canyon National Park are right at the front door.

Great bed. Great location, very short walk to rim and free shuttle stops at the lodge about every 15 minutes. Believe it or not but quiet in room even being sold out. We stayed in the newer(south)section. 4 nights. Food court was handy with a variety of choices. Large portions. Quality? Adequate to good. Don’t expect gourmet meals. Expect “Dennys” and you will be very satisfied. Prices were actual...

Cons (-) Wifi in the room. While we travel for leisure we sometimes bring work laptops with us and from time to time check if anything urgent at work pops up.

Pros (+) Closeness to the Grand Canyon
Cons (-) Hard to find in park as they were redoing a lot of the roads. Needed more signs.

Pros (+) Pizza / Pub and breakfast facilities nearby were an added bonus, and prices were reasonable. The 'North' units had good heating and ventilation and decent WiFi for one device at a time. Room was a little dark and dated, but beds were comfortable. Helpful staff, who relocated us due to noisy neighbours. Why pay more elsewhere for a canyon view when you'll commute between the various overlooks insid...
Cons (-) Wasn't overlooking the rim like so other places, but easy walk, and avoided having hundreds of other tourists blocking parking and walking around the site.

Pros (+) Location - real close to the south rim. Offerings - Close to the cafeteria which serves a variety of food which keeps you from having to leave the park area. Informational - Close to local information and insight from park employees. Gift Shop - the gift shop is full of offerings at a reasonable price.
Cons (-) Room - the room was really dated and no visible sign of AC and no visible sign of heat controls. Comfort - the mattress was hard, has not been updated in a while.

Pros (+) We loved the proximity of the lodge to the Grand Canyon. It was a very quick walk to and from as well as a beautiful one at night. The staff was also very kind and helpful.
Cons (-) The actual comfort of the beds was poor. They’re older, very firm, and the pillows were difficult to sleep comfortably on as well. Not a great nights sleep but it was only for one night. More than one night sleeping there would be tough for me personally.

Pros (+) It's hard to beat the location as it is super close to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. There are also a lot of food options at the lodge but it is all basic and nothing fancy.
Cons (-) The beds are not comfortable at all and the rooms are very small. It is a little over priced for what you get but you are mainly paying for location.
