Traditional Japanese decor
Appears a bit dated but we thought it was charming
This facility was so relaxing and cool to experience a traditional Japanese home and communal baths. I loved the mountain and lake views from the room, and the short walk to a nearby shrine. There were nice restaurants (western and Japanese), cafes, and convenience store nearby. Very romantic location for 2. Also, a short walk to the sightseeing cruise, which was also amazing.
I couldn’t complain about anything.
I liked the onsen and the in-room dinner was excellent. The location is also nice, right near the pirate ship port and a shrine.
To be honest, the room was a bit shabby and moldy around one window. The toilet also was not super clean around the hand washing area.
Beautiful scenic area of Motohakone. Lakeview room with lots of space and comfy traditional tatami mats. Onsen was extremely relaxing.
The hotel is a bit old and can use a renovation, the bathrooms in the rooms particularly need some work.
If you’re going to Hakone it seems to be in the main part of town and is very close to the bus stop from Odawara station. Easy short walk to the hakone torii gate, which we could also see from our room when the weather cleared. The indoor Onsen was a good size and we enjoyed the welcome tea and traditional dinner, although we weren’t able to finish it. They do a nice “western” breakfast option if you’re feeling less adventurous. The food was beautifully presented. Lovely customer service at reception and from the lady who set up the meals.
The decor in the rooms and halls is tired and marked, and although the room was actually clean, the tired decor made it seem less clean in places. It would be great to have wifi in the rooms, we could get it in part of the lobby though.
