We had a lovely two night stay. The welcome was very warm and friendly. Lovely room-super comfy bed and pillows. Kept extremely clean, to a very high specification in every respect. Very good breakfasts cooked by a delightful lady who was very friendly and nice. The whole set up was delightful.
The staff were accomodating and helpful. The food was quite good and the breakfast excellent value for money Separate bar tabs for the restaurant
nice big bed,nice bath.
The staff were all very friendly, actually made conversation not just read off a crib sheet. The room was clean and tidy. Our room was tricky to get in having to pull the door tightly closed to he able to unlock it! The air conditioning unit was very loud during the night. As for breakfast, nothing you expect, un cooked bacon and over cooked poached eggs!
very pleasant staff bathroom floor needed a good scrub had lots of marks on it they came off on the towels other wise very clean
Clean and tidy, Comfortable bed, Air conditioning efficient, good hot water, friendly staff. Air conditioning hum (not used to it), cold bathroom, unable to open windows.
Very helpul staff. They couldn't be better. It was hot. Although the air con was very efficient, it would have been nice to be able to open a window. We don't like to have air con on when we go to sleep as it is too noisy.
For a budget trip to the area this was a perfectly acceptable hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff There was not a chain on the door
Flexible breakfasting arrangements when requiring 7am breakfast. Average late night porter service. Had to wait for a significant period when returning at about 11:30.
Internally the hotel looks a bit tired and could do with a freshen up - carpets threadbare in places, especially on stairs and landing - I was a little disappointed as presentation is important with hotels. Suprised by 4 star aa rating I would have thought 2 star more appropriate. Although I would recommend the hotel to other travellers idf you can get a good deal on the price of the room, otherwise full price is far too expensive. Come on Asperion make an effort for the Olympics???
rooom very comfortable, and the food very good. Forgot to bring swimming costume, would have liked to use the pool, looked lovely.
The beds and the waitress was very helpful I have complained already: the cold showers, the meals, the lack of english speaking staff
staff help for routes to cain manor wedding and early book-in help
the location and the peacefullness of the place we never had hot water which was so dissappointing
Location, The choice to upgrade to a quiet room The decor too modern and lacking in charm, small swimming pool
Views from dining room. Quiet, peaceful location. Disappointed with quality of cooked breakfast.
Smell of smoke in non smoking room, room above unloading point for service vehicles, barrels delivered at 0730. Food poor in presentation and choice, same limited menu each night
The breakast room has views of the pond. That was very special. For the price the faciities were poor
Going for walks around the lakes. The quality of the food for dinner was excellent, but spoiled by having to eat alone in a side room behind reception. That we were unaware till arrival that the hotel had large weddings for both of the evenings we had booked.
Pleasant lady at check-in, quick efficient service, clean comfortable room. The service in the bar/restaurant was a bit slow, manageress said" my staff will help you" when asked for service, not overly helpfull! See above
Comfort of room following a long and busy day. Nothing
Bed a little uncomfortable
Reasonable value for money comfortable room. None particularly. It was a Premier chain, bit faceless not too nasty.
easy to find the cost, at £62 a night, it's very expensive, especially with breakfast on top.
As travelling with a friend I confirmed a twin room. The room had one large double bed and a small made up bed which was not comfortable for my companion.
Very good value for money. The room was clean and the restaurant (both for dinner and for breakfast) was good quality.
The weather was hot and The Fan supplied for the room was very small, need larger fans.
Staff friendly and helpfull Atm not working, had to ask for orange juice and tea cups in restaurant, noise from room above,
All reception staff very pleasant and helpful although our stay was for less than 24 hours.
Very warm welcome. Service excellent.
The staff were excellent, both polite and efficient. The pre booked room was located immediately and the access given with minimum of waiting time. Having seen adverts fr a room at £29 it was a shame that my single room was over £60 possibly due to lack of detail on the booking web site.
The hotel it self was quite good, clean and the staff good. Tv was a waste of time frozen picture on every channel. The food in the Brewers Fayre the first night was a disgrace. The Cheesy Cobbler I had was very poor hard as a rock bun and no cheese. My wifes Scampi were very poor almost burnt.
The comfort of the beds
The hotel receptionist on checking out was so cheerful and kind helping us with directions to where we were meeting up with friends.; She could not have been more cheerful.
Clean room even extra pillows provided. all staff pleasant and helpful. breakfast excellent.
Cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff We were in a quad room and the fourth bed was a made up mattress on the floor which we found unsatisfactory.
Staff very helpful hotel and room clean
Good size of room good T making facilities and stereo was nice touch
I came, i slept, i left!! Breakfast was not fresh but dry and pre cooked.
The hotel was grubby and needs refurbishment Although the staff were very good the food was poor.
The rooms were quite large and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. A full English Breakfast was included in the price and I was surprised that you could choose from the menu if you didnt want this, which was great, plus you could help yourself to cereal, fruit, pastries and muffins etc if you wanted. Although the rooms were big, the heating didnt appear to be on, so the room felt quite cold, it probably didnt help that the windows are quite old and probably need replacing.
Good selection of food on menu Room was basic
Helpful staff and good parking
Double room was large, clean and comfortable. Liked the in-room ironing facilities and mini hi-fi. Good value at the on-line rate. Creaky floorboards can make for a noisy night. Some of the decor is tired.. Food ordered at the bar was disappointing.
Excellent Clean and tidy hotel
Comfortable clean bed Room very dusty, breakfast on cold plates and poor service, inadequate lighting in room for make up etc. general staff helpful
Price and overall VFM.
Value for money option, way above standard for others of a similar proce bracket. Excellent breakfast. Friendy staff. Room was clean though a little dusty. The roof eaves ran through our bathroom so showering was a challnge. The only fault is trying to find the hotel. The navigation information provided is incorrect.
Very nice room, not like in another english hotels.Very good bathroom. The breakfast was really good. The reception and the main building of the hotel looks very expensive The room was a little bit too small. The long way to the room wasnt nice.
Overall good No elevator, would be an advantage to be able to indicate preference for a ground floor room
The attitude of the staff always eager to please. the fitness suite nothing
Expected better from Holiday Inn,room smelling of damp and were dull. After 20min at reception, they did change my room but only had (so called junior suite ! extra £30 ) slightly larger room with 1970's sofa and tv. Not really much better, toilet was loose with cracked tiles in bathroom!. Hotels public areas were revamped, looks very nice and modern, only if rooms were half as nice !!!! but rooms are in poor state.I Was booked for 3 nights, But checked out on the sat morning.Paid little more 500yds down road 4star hotel ,looking over airport amazing hotel very modern with free mini bar with tv in bathroom and Bose music. So if you going to Holiday Inn (Don't). I am not a snob but expect clean bright modern room not something from the 70s 80s Very poor Hotel with facelift.
The best part of my stay was my massage wirh Sue. She is excellent. I was disapointed that the Steam Room & Sauna were not working.
Very friendly and helpfull staff
The room was comfortable and spacious and the staff were very polite and helpful and made us feel welcome at all times
Very helpful staff
friendly good service drinks very very expensive
The fact that its in the countryside and its tranquil. no
Dinner in the Restaurent I'm afraid that the Cooked Breakfasts tended to be on the cold side. It was very cold outside but some windows were opened never the less. The bathroom shelf was for some reason erected over the Lavatory Basin. To prevent Toothbrushes etc. from falling into the Loo we had to use the Window shelf for our things. Also the shaving light was to one side of my face leaving me to shave partially in the dark. Overall though we liked the Room.
Location Room very basic. Room facilities not as listed so had to ask and some still not available ie trouser press. Leisure facilities extremely expensive.
We had a good room for the price payed, but in addition to the accommodation guests were allowed free access to the spa which meant we had terrific value for our money. Guests are also offered the option of checking out late to enable over-night visitors the chance to use the facilities. I was a little disappointed in the cooked section of the breakfast , but other snacks and afternoon tea purchased at the hotel were excellent.
Staff were excellent. Small room, high bar prices, cold water in the morning.
all good very expensive resturant
Relaxed yet special
A beautiful hotel in really lovely surroundings. The spa is fantastic and the breakfast was delicious. Surprisingly one of the pillows in the room was dirty and the rubbish bin in the bathroom had not been emptied. However the good points more than made up for this and I had a wonderful stay.
* Beautiful setting and surroundings * We had a very good room * The was also excellent * We only had breakfast but it was also very good
This is an easy going, smart hotel set amidst beautiful English countryside. The gym and spa facilities are state of the art. Highly recommended.
We liked our stay here and will use this hotel again. Easy to find and car parking is good. Althougth we had a problem with the bed the hotel were very concerned about this in the morning.
Very friendly staff, excellent premier breakfast
The requirement was for an inexpensive weekend stay to visit family, your hotel fitted the requirement very well regarding location and price. No dislikes as such, perhaps a few more coffee and milk helpings in the room.
Unbeleivable value for money! Excellent standard of cleanliness & top value food!! There honestly was not any.
home from home , highly ecomended none
- Close to airport - Easy to listen next room conversation - separate hot and cold water tabs - no free wifi - no international tv Channels
The room could have been warmer for our arrival, as the weather was very cold and it took hours for our room to be at a comfortable temperature, we wouldnt recommend the restaurant, we thought the meals were not good value or had any flavour apart from the oil or fat they were cooked in.
Good breakfast, friendly staff, clean and pleasant They had sold our room but eventually found one
I liked the fact that it was easy and very relaxed, the restuarant was nice and friendly. The room was comfortable and relatively quiet, its a bit difficult as there is a lot of comings and goings. I like the fact you dont have to book out until 12 pm. The table in the double rooms could be a bit higher as it is usually used for either working on on eating/drinking on.
The evening meal menu was exactly the same each evening an occasional change would of been welcome.
I had a good feeling from the minute I entered the hotel. The staff were all polite and attentive and without attitude. The restaurant had a cosy ambience and the waiter was polite and attentive without being intrusive. The room was clean and comfortable. A minor point really, I found that turning on the taps for a shower awkward due to an immovable screen.
Breakfast the room, booked for a family of four and there were only three beds
A bit dowdy, needs a revamp of furnishings
the hotel staff and facilites were excellent
The Staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room was clean and tidy and more than adequate for an overnight stay. Plenty of coffee sachets in room but only 1 milk.
Friendly reception, good location. very warm inside the rooms
the price - too expensive for the quality...little rooms , no clim, TV remote control not working, no minibar, poor breakfast
Room comfortable; clean; quiet; good facilities; Shower worked well; Good cooked breakfast Room gloomy, lighting poor; Bathroom floor tiles cracked and bathroom window would not open for ventilation; Toast and cooked breakfast all on one plate, no butter or margarine for the toast, Only one small cup of coffee served with breakfast
Convient location with helpful staff
It was a business stay and everything was easy to use/find
good sauna and steam room it was all a bit cold including the pool but so was the weather.
We liked the location due to it being near to shere and newlands corner. We stayed in room 16 where a noise was present all night outside our room, Sounded mechanical like the central heating or a door closing and opening all night. Complained on the way out to be told there is nothing I can do about it by the receptionist!
Room very comfortable, pool complex excelent, fantastic location, very quiet. Nothing, loved the place.
Room service was very reasonbly priced. Spa facilities were great, it isn't very often you have a large swimming pool.
a freindly atmosphere , the linen was crisp and clean the spa was well equiped good choice for breakfast beautifuly situated in the surrey country side restaurant lacked atmosphere in the evening, wedding party took over the only sitting area and a lot of noise outside early hours am also people going to bedrooms waking us up, we were a group of 8 people including 2 children so we used a bedroom for our evening after the meal
location and the wide range of channels on the tv Length of time it took for hot water to come through the system, and the cord to activate the bathroom fan would have suited someone just over seven foot tall!!
swimming pool but also dirty showers etc rooms are very dirty no good service ,lot of noise because there was a wedding until 0200, asked for a dfiferent room on advise of one person from the hotel was not possible, smoking area under our window
Gym & swimming pool Dirty & tired room, including hairs in bathroom and in the bed!
we went for a relaxing break and that is what we had. swimming pool was nice size and not crowded and the food was excellent the weather!!
the noise from the nigh club below, and staff were just as confused as the guests when the fire alarm went of at 2am.
The location We were unable to use the car park as it was closed for a private function.
The hotel is attractive from the outside and very convenient for Guildford centre The lights didn't work in one room. The bathrooms were tiny. The hot water took a long time to come through in the morning. There was no breakfast on Sunday before 8 am and no room service. There was no room to park in the car park. There was a noisy function taking place. The room was cold in the middle of the nigh.
Friendly staff, basic but comfortable rooms
Fast check in/out. Good standard comfotable room, very clean. Reasonable parking. Location is excellent for shopping. No minibar or water in room
Lovely large room at the rear of the hotel, very quiet, we were upgraded on arrival Nothing
Very helpful and friendly staff Rether dear breakfast in pretty souless interior design, perhaps rates should be B&B?
Free use of Wifi, and the relaxed atmosfere in the lounge bar first night i was sleeping at the front side of the hotel, which is quite noisy, because of the mainstreet, but specially the bar which was right below me. My room was reschedualed for the following days. Perfect
The room was very quiet and comfortable and the hotel is in an excellent location for the town centre. I also like the bar - very chilled!
Nice airy room, clean, ditto the restaurant Not sure I'd call the restaurant a restaurant in terms of menu - was more like bar food, but was good
The courtesy from Staff and the freindly recption.
Being kept waiting for 15 mins by night staff who was in kitchen making a meal, at 12.20am,,, Hotel was great, need to employ people that will not let the team down.
Prompt and courteous both booking in and out. Clean, well presented and comfortable room The Sunday morning breakfast was quite chaotic. The flasks used for tea and coffee contained both but not separately ! At breakfast the previous day we were asked on arrival at the dining room what drink we wanted, tea or coffee and it was delivered promptly to the table. There was insufficient toast and quite a large queue formed.
The hotel was not very busy, but they still managed to put someone right above me
All staff - except reception- were very good, everyone greeted my Father and I with a smile and were very helpful and kind, even the cleaning team stopped what they were doing to greet us. The soup we had in the evening was excellent as were the waiting staff they went the extra mile The receptionist on duty at 21.15 on 10th November was disinterested, did not offer help or assistance with my disabled Father on arrival or help with the bags, I was given my keys with a curt explanation of directions, it was not until Alison arrived on the desk that we were given help or made welcome. There was a problem was with the room location when I moved to a cheaper rate room to be next to my father I was told I had to pay the same rate as I had booked on line, I was assured the problem with the difference in room tariff was sorted that night, when I checked in the morning nothing had been done. The morning receptionist was equally difficult and stated the booking fee problem was nothing to do with the hotel but was with the booking agent. When I contacted the agent this was clearly not so Eventually on leaving the hotel some concession was made which the receptionists said was impossible for them to do but a further refund of £40 for the first night in my view is required and I will be contacting the management over this matter
Good room size. Efficient room service. Needs complete modernisation/refit, or at least redecoration. No face towel/flannel in bathroom.
Very dated with real need for makeover and maintenance. Bathroom door didn't shut. Picture hanging off wall.
use of swimming pool.breakfast
Very friendly helpful staff
Had a king size room - nice and spacious Shower was too low - couldn't stand in it properly. Plates in the restaurant were all dirty and the staff member was unimpressed when I told him so.
This is a great little hotel for business and the lounge area demonstrated that. Business men everyhwere. The staff were incredible. I would go back in a heartbeat. For business it's a little off the beaten path.
Staff were helpful regarding early check-in request
A very warm wlecome when we checked in at 12.30 am!
I think the efforts of the staff all round made up for the shortcommings of the hotel generally. Considering Ramada Jarvis are regarded as 'High Level' hotels, unfortunately this did not live up to expectations with the room being noisy and small for a premium price. This compared to a Premier Inn made the stay not value for money.
Good value for money, very comfortable and excellent facilities.
The room was comfortable, also the bar and restaurant. Service was excellent and staff friendly and professional. The sheets in my executive room had a couple of stains and holes.
Staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. They all worked well together and are a credit to you. Room was comfortable if small, and breakfast was good. Didn't have time to use pool Window a bit drafty, so we could hear road noise
nice hotel, nice rooms no facilities. for that amount of money expected facilities
V.Obliging staff on desk, restaurant. Excellent breakfast/brunch open Sunday until 11.30.Dinner good, if a little lacking atmosphere in restaurant V.Difficult to locate, must input sat nav details. Not easily seen from adjoining main road.
exelent service and a good breakfast
I liked the large comfortable bed. nicely decorated room clean and warm superb television.nice clean bathroom. Nothing that I did not like.
We liked the whole setting of the hotel. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. We found the staff very helpful.
Some staff did not speak english
Very well trained staff, friendly and accommodating. This hotel requires a serious re furbishment. The room was dismal, the curtains were falling down and the shower delivered water that was too hot or too cold. The pipes leaked from the W.C when flushed as did the bath when taps were turned on. Everything is seriously dated, including the dining room whcih had chairs that were falling apart. When I was checking out another guest was complaining about similar things in her room. Shame on you Mercure.
Great location. Room contained all the basic facilities we required. Reception staff were helpful and happily provided a sewing kit to fix a button which had fallen off a shirt. Room is desperately in need of refurbishment. Threadbare carpet, bathroom in need of replacement, new tiles etc. Reception staff didn't know that the corridor to our room was closed for painting, so we had to retrace our steps and walk twice the distance. Not worth the price, except for the great location.
would have liked a menu in the room.
pleasant and helpful staff no
Olde world atmosphere and very good Noisy floors and hard pillows
Staff very friendly and helpful, did as the said they would at time of booking and gave us a larger room. Even called to book a taxi for us. Would recommend staying there. Inside could do with some new carpets and a bit of painting and it would be a beautiful hotel.
Bar prices were ridiculous
There was a desert spoon holding the shower head together in room 10
convenient location for our needs. very enjoyable breakfast.lovely setting.Shame we could not stay longer none
It had a pleasant outlook onto a lawn area. It was easily accessible on the ground floor yet sufficiently secluded to be reasonably quiet. On arrival the room was oppressively hot and it proved difficult to moderate this except by the expedient of turning the radiator off altogether. There was a persistent ticking sound, possibly associated with the heating system, that was disturbing. Provision of net curtains for daytime privacy would have been appreciated.
Staff were friendly but lacked expertise and experience, okay for 1 or 2 night stop over but not really family friendly, not a lot to do at the hotel, had too get out and about to find fun and adventure for the children. We stayed a week and spent most of our time away from the hotel, probably wouldn't stay there again.
I have criticised the Lysmoyne previously. On this occasion they were excellent in the way they looked after my mother during this stay, No
Friendly staff good food Very public areas
