The town lovely, and ferry ride to hendaye in france is very good
The court is under construction
The hotel was under construction/renovations, they didn’t let us know in advance. It was impossible to stay in the room while they where working, so check in wasn’t at 14:00 but at 18:00 , since it was winter outside was cold and deserted. When you pay the this much you expect to get a different experience . The staff though that saying “we apologize” would solve our bad experience
An interesting and impressive historical property in the middle of the old town. The staff were very helpful and breakfast on-site was a good start to the day. Overall we are glad we chose the Parador.
Robes and slippers are typically provided at this price point so while it felt less like a luxe stay without this amenity, the historic property and lovely staff more than made up for it.
Really old quarter of town. The building and locale are fantastic and we were lucky enough to have a large ensuite room with a great view over the harbour on 2 sides. Staff very helpful and although dinner was not available they recommended a great restaurant, Sebastian, within close walking distance. We had a great time afterwards in a local bar in a cobbled side street a few yards away. Breakfast typically continental Spanish, but more than adequate. Would have loved to have spent more time here but on a road trip back to UK and the heavy rain next morning didn't help. It was November but the place must be glorious in sunshine. A must if your travelling through Spain or looking for an interesting place to visit.
No bottled water, tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Over bath shower ok but we prefer a walk in version.
The view from the bedroom and private balcony overlooking the sea. The massive bed.
Difficulty getting a big car into the parking area, a tight squeeze.... Only one harassed person serving in the cafeteria, so slow service. We just wanted a cafe con leche in the morning but the cafeteria was closed and only full breakfasts were available in the dining room. No restaurant available in the evenings.
