I stayed at the hotel last month, no issues using the VAT (19% tax savings form for the US Military). This time, the accountant wasn't there and the front desk staffed did not have a clue. Will have to drive to the local VAT office in Stuttgart and have them work the issue. As nice as the hotel was, and it was nice, made for a poor ending.
sauna and swimming pool are great The furniture in the holiday apartment was very old and/or very cheap. It was close to a parking place - too much noise.
hotel restaurant has very limited selection of meals ala card, breakfast was less than average
The beautiful scenery. Using a key for locking/unlocking the room from the inside!. This is a safety issue. No one should ever have to use a key to get out of a room!
The food was great and it was across the street from the Kloster Ettal - a monestary that brews some very fine beer.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
Location, food, comfortable spacious bedroom, tastefully decorated throughout, easy parking. No direct access from reception to restaurant. No English translation of hotel information in folder in bedroom.
The town was lovely and the Church was spectacular. The hotel was in the middle of reservations and the receptionist directed us to our rooms as if there was access through these as normal. There wasn't. and when we got back to reception, there was no-one there. We wandered around for about 10 minuets until we met some workmen and they took pity on us. It was a trek into the next county to get to our room. This hotel is more like a nunnery or monastery than a hotel. Unable to use the Spa as it was closed. The breakfaast was sparse in the morning.
Swimming pool, sauna and the restaurant I was told, prior to making my reservation, that the hotel took the VAT forms (tax forms), at check out they did not (cost me an extra 45 euros). Makes hotel guest an unhappy camper.
The spa facilities are excellent
Real luxury hotel with good restaurant and very friendly staff, nice view of the mountains. Good swimming pool and spa.
Staff were very helpful. The restaurant was frequented by annoying insects (e.g. flies). The staff explained that this happens in spring time.
The friendlyness of staff and the surroundings. Clearly this hotel does not meet the standards of SLH: it is neither small nor luxury. The furniture and decoration in the room and in the restaurant/lobby is old fashioned and used. The swimming pool has not been redone for ages. This hotel urgently needs to be refurbished and modernised. Overpriced!
Dear Madams and sirs, I would like to thank you for your kindness and understanding. Indeed my stay at your hotel has been beyond delightful and very relaxing which helped me a lot facing the situation that is now occurring. You have made my stay here in Murnau very pleasant and much easier. Furthermore i spent a wonderful new year thanks to your manager and his team. Last but not least, i would like to stress on the fact that your hotel is very comforting and well organized. It has top quality service and it has been a very welcoming place. I look forward to my next stay in your hotel. Yours sincerely, Mr. Salem Al Zaabi
The Alpenhof hotel is a great hotel set in lovely countryside and close to most of the main attractions in southwest Baveria. The hotel staff were very helpful and wellcoming, we were offered a glass of champagne on arrival which was very welcome. The hotel has two good restaurants , 1 mitchellin rated but the local town of Murnau offers several other restaurants. There was a small minibar of beer and soft drinks included in the room price. The spar facilities are excellent, indeed the best I have seen in a hotel. So if you are looking for a relaxing break with a touch of luxury this is a hotel worth considering. The beds are very firm and not the type of luxury beds you would expect from a 5star hotel
Friendly and courteous service of all members of staff, from the reception desk to the housekeeping staff. Hotel well-designed, clean and efficient.
Wonderful hotel -- very friendly with children -- I had my 10 year old granddaughter with me and she was well received and treated. I will return. I have already recommended it. No
Lack of a relaxing lounge area with comfy armchairs
Best hotel I ever stay. Nice welcome drink in the room with small apetiser. Free parking with valet service. best restaurant in the town with home brewed beer. Order made breakfast. Very kind hotel staff.
This is a reasonably small hotel with rooms on three floors. All rooms clean and comfortable. The food was good, even for vegetarians and the locally brewed beer was delicious. The courtesy car was not always available but staff did cooperate. The pillows are synthetic but, for this class, should really be feather. That would also make it more comfortable. The unusual window to the bathroom is not for everybody and caused some inconvenience for our teenage children sharing one room. The beds are king size rather than twin, but are two full single mattresses.
Everything! The excellent service, the design, the luxury and the quality furniture of the room & bath, the wonderful view from the room, the fine bedlinen & bath facilities, the stereo and TV, even the high quality of the material of the switches! The atmospheric restaurant with bier! A really high class Hotel! Absolutely nothing! It cannot be improved!
The customer focus is exceptional; restaurant is excellent; and the facilities are first class plus.
Great location, beautiful rooms and bathroom. Received welcome drink and fruit bowl upon arrival. Fantastic.
Opening of breakfast should be earlier than 0700 and the sauna should be longer open than 1900.
Very nice hotel staff. The breakfast was outstanding. Without a doubt the best hotel in the area. It was not possible to lower the room temperature during the night. We stayed four nights, and the temperature stayed at 23 degrees C the whole time, even if we set the temperature to 18 degrees. That is not good enough for a five star hotel. A hotel of this standard should have 2 racks for suitcases in the double rooms.
The staff was very accommodating, and I especially enjoyed the pool and saunas! The food at the buffet was very good. We were in the area to see the Passion Play, and the hotel was about 1/2 hour drive, other than that no complaints.
Extremely comfortable, more upmarket than my usual choice but chosen to stay with friends. Unfortunately a little far from Oberammergau. Would be nice for a relaxing holiday by lake with some walking. All printed information in rooms was in German. My German is limited and while it should not be necessary, these days it is usual to find English translations. Probably the hotel does not have a large non-German clientele except in Passion Play years. However the staff all spoke good English and were willing to help.
Great staff and well kept hotel Price, although this was partly because the Euro exchange rate makes it expensive for us to go to Germany at the moment
Great breakfast buffet. Restaurant service very good. Cordial and accommodating staff. Beautiful surroundings. Very limited hotel literature in English. Lack of English translations for room instructions, etc.
Just one night stopover en-route to Eastern Europe, but clean comfortable room & facilities and excellent continental breakfast. Shame there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but this is no different from most Hotels I stayed in. (Think it's a "British" thing - we do like a caffine hit before breakfast!)
Beautiful location, staff was very friendly.
Friendliness and service of staff Cash only basis created problems
Over all the cleaniness and facilities. no
Clean, good facilities including kitchen with utensils, toaster, oven, electric hobs. Swimming, sauna, excellent value for money. Free parking. We booked the holiday rooms. These are practically suites! Friendly staff. Shower curtains needed for the bathtub. The water spills into the floor.
typical bavarian hotel - friendly staff and reasonably situated for the village
Resturant hardly had any food, had to find fod at other places
Clean and comfortable accommodations with a welcoming staff, a nice place to relax in a laid back atmosphere. Our friends have two young children and the family suite with pull out couch worked great for them. The patios off the ground level were made private by a little wall, but were not completely enclosed so we could visit outside with our friends staying the next room.
Wonderful place! very beautifull surroundings, very nice staff. perfect for a few days of rest in a quiet and cosy place in Alps
Swimming / Bathing facilities are really nice. Very quiet, nice staff. The location is quite pleasant, but requires transportation facilities (a bit far from Murnau and from the train stations). Nothing.
We enjoyed the views, the welness center, the restaurant and a nice walk around Kochel
It's so far from a city noise There are no service in the Kochel
The setting was gorgeous - the views over the lake were beautiful. There was also a really nice sauna and steam room. The staff were friendly - particularly our cleaning lady and the head waiter/ receptionist. The food was good too. The decor was quite 1970s but that was part of the character of the hotel. It was very clean and comfortable.
The situation overlooking the lake is excellent. This applied to both the restaurant and our room. Ideal spot for an overnight stay whilst we were en route to Oberammergau just 30 minutes drive away.
It was like an old family house, unlike many modern hotels. Nice views, nice feel, nice staff. Food was good too. Would like to stay again. Nichts.
The view was beautiful & it was a very relaxing, peaceful place to stay.
This is a genuine Bavarian family-owned hotel and it has bags of character as well as comfort (and an excellent restaurant). English is spoken though a bit of German helps.
The view was awesome, the morning breakfast was special due to our morning ritual of having our very own table, #42, the place settings were neat, reminded my wife of her time with her grandparents... The bed was kinda different, had a slit in the middle, kinda made it hard for my wife and I to, ya know, enjoy cuddling but we thoroughly enjoyed our time. The bathroom was tiny but again, we made it work...
Wonderful stay at Seehotel. The staff were wonderful and we found the rooms very large and comfortable. We booked a room with a balcony and although the balcony was tiny it was well worth it for the beautiful view over the lake. The restaurant was great with beautiful views over the lake. No complaints at all with this hotel. Again, the staff were such a pleasure and we would absolutely stay here again.
Wonderful position by the lake, superb views No lifts, no bar for pre or post dinner drinks, rooms extremely cramped, too far out of town to walk to any other hotel or bar
Very close to the NATO School in O'Gau. Friendly staff. The one thing I didn't like was that the two restaurants in the Arnika were both closed for the period of my stay. Normally I avoid hotel restaurants, but I'll make an exception for the schnitzels in the Arnika. According to the notice, the restaurants should re-open today, but that's a bit late.
The hotel is charming, the restaurant is very good, the rooms are comfortable, and quiet.
Free access for internet connection and wireless available.
We found it very homely and you all made us feel very welcome Well done... many thanks to the chief for a wonderful Christmas dinner
Love this hotel- we will be back. Very clean and very friendly.
The best hotel in my opinion for the NATO school students. Only 10 minutes walk from the NATO school and not far from the town center. Friendly personnel, very clean room, excellent breakfast and dinner.
the typical bavarian style and the view from my room
Friendly staff, family atmosphere, clean and comfortable rooms.
very nice and quiet hotel, nice place, free Wifi second door between hall and bedroom in hotel room and too noisy construction of floors, made of wood
Our 2nd stay here. Just as excellent as the first time! I would highly recommend for families with strollers as the have a lift.
Very good service, very good value for money, Rooms are nice and comfort but simple, 45 min drive to the ski site
Huge room with balcony and tub. Probably the biggest room I've seen in Europe so far. Staff was excellent and very nice and lent me an outlet adapter when I asked where I might purchase one. Big great breakfast.
Hotel staff extremely friendly, speaks good English, and very helpful throughout the stay. Hotel is centrally located in Oberammergau with easy walking access to many restaurants.
Location and friendly staff. N/A
A nice hotel in a charming place, near to the city center. Parking is on the street with a parking park of the hotel, free of charge.
Excellent location in town center, staff, and facilities. I had not stayed there since 1988 and it is still excellent.
This hotel was located right in the heart of Oberammergau and surrounded with lots of cafes and shops. While the building is several hundred years old, the interior has been updated beautifully and everything (bedding, carpet, furniture) is fresh and very clean. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the square. The bathroom was completely up-to-date and even included a receptacle wired for 120V with a US-style socket. Parking passes were provided by the hotel and we had no problem finding a spot right around the side of the building. All in all, this is just the right combination of cozy and historic with modern conveniences at a very reasonable price.
calm place, nice staff, good and large room, good breckfast until eleven no frigo bar
Excellent service in the "Ludwigs Stube". 2 outstanding waiters. Food was also good. Not very varied, however. One particular lady at reception was really outstanding too. Waiters in the main restaurant, rather stuck up and unfriendly. Really need a car to get around. Quite noisy at front of hotel as faces road.
It's a lovely, comfortable, old-fashioned hotel, ideal for a golfing break - or as a convenient rural base from which to visit Munich or southern Bavaria. The dining room was a bit disappointing, but the Bierstube made up for it.
The staff were friendly, helpful and very professional as well as welcoming and attentive. Very relaxing atmosphere and comfortable stay in this historic hotel. There is nothing I did not like about the hotel or my stay here.
Great hotel, close to the lake and green nature around, prefect big size renovated and clean room equiped by everything that you need. Big beer garden with a great menu and exellent stuff. Liked so much !!!
stunning location,friendly staff,lovely bedroom,reasonable price
The village it is situated in is gorgeous, with a beautiful lake The bells of the village church, which is next to the hotel, tolled every quarter of an hour all night
The Staff was very friendly, and tried their best to communicate in English. The Food was excellent. N/A.
Friendly and helpful staff
Location was great. Beautiful little town. Hotel was comfortable but not lavish. Breakfast was pretty good. Germans know how to make bread. Man can certainly live on bread alone as long as its in Germany (the breakfast had more than bread, but the bread was the highlight). There was some confusion about payment. My experience was that priceline bills directly. Hotel said that was not the case and they didn't take american express. Everything got resolved
very economical, good breakfast, authentic experience, good location rooms not very soundproof
Too many flies in the breakfast room, which were very annoying!! Still, it seems that the Germans do not consider this to be a problem... And I did not like the matresses, they were too soft, harder matresses are better. Except for these issues, everything was ok, we had a pleasant stay.
The food in the restaurant was very good Room was close to the road, and there was traffic noise during the night. There were many flies in the breakfast room which we did not like whilst we were having our breakfast (hotel is located near a lake)
Location No It was a little rustic but that was what we wanted.
Close to motorway for 1 night stop
Very nice room, great spa & wellness facilities, good breakfast, very close to ski resort. Far from train or bus station. English information does not exist at all. Movies on tv only in German.
The restaurant staff provided very friendly and efficient service and the front desk personnel were helpful in arranging an additional nights stay to my reservation. My room provided a nice balcony and view of the Bavarian Alps. The breakfast had a great variety but had I known it was going to cost 14 euro I would have eaten more. Spa services should also have phamplets in English.
Fantastic mountain view from this hotel, clean comfortable rooms, excellent food, very attentive staff, great pool, good exercise room and spa facilities. lack of air conditioning, but common in this region.
service i've seen better breakfast arrangements, in the region
the staff was freindly, the room was excellent
Location was excellent. The waiter at the hotel restaurant was horrible - inattentive, incompetent, and rude.
Good hotel for a weekend, excelent view from the room, free parking places, free internet wi-fi, good place for nordic skiing and not far from Garmisch
The staff was very helpful and friendly. They accommodated all our needs and were extremely patient with the language differences. The location and scenery was breathtaking.
The setting was outstanding, and view fantastic. The breakfast selection was adequate. It would have been nice if a selection of cut fruit were offered. Although the whole fruits were nice. The staff was very nice and friendly. There was no blowdryer in the room as show on the website. It was difficult to ask for one, as no one was available to help in the late afternoon or evening.
nothing the hotel was over booked and moved us to another hotel that was not very nice at all.
Gasthaus was very traditional, very nice, great location and scenery
spectacular view no bar
We stayed at this hotel because they had triple rooms available and allowed pets. It was 20 minutes from Garmisch where we went snowboarding for the weekend. The hotel was located in a cute little town, however after 6pm the town didn't offer much to do except eat. The hotel staff was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and gave suggestions about what to do. The road leading up to the hotel was snow and ice covered and very narrow. We were trapped when a Jeep was coming down the hill as we began to go up the hill. The first morning the water in the shower was barely luke warm, made for an unpleasant shower. The problem was remedied by that evening however and we enjoyed steaming hot showers the remainder of our trip.
We booked the Guesthouse at first, which I can not recommend. It is 20 Euros cheaper then the hotel it self, but you really get downgraded. The bathroom reminded me at a bathroom in a ship and the rooms.... not cosy at all. The rooms smelled like food since the kitchen is right underneath the Guesthouse. We didn't like that. We changed into the hotel the very next morning. The room at the hotel was very cosy, the bathroom very nice and we even had a balcony with a beautiful view. Amazing what 20 Euros can do! Overall I can say that we liked the hotel and would go there again but only if we can book a room in the hotel itself and not in the Guesthouse.
All excellent, to include the food and the value.
