What are the pros of staying at JR Kyushu Hotel Kagoshima?
The hotel is very convenient for travel on trams and buses. Convenient and large double room with massive bathroom! Clean neat service great. Convenient location at JR station. The location was really the best. It is a minute walk to the JR Shinkansen gate. Very close to the station. Excellent customer service which enabled us to make the most of our day in Kagoshima. Front desk recommended a traditional hot pot restaurant where we could enjoy a taste of Kagoshima specialties. Unbeatable location, right opposite the train gantries. Perfect for train and bus travel, with the bus terminal right outside on the 1st Flr and train station accessible from lobby on 2F. Our party of four stayed in two standard double rooms... which seems to mean very cramped space for Japanese brand hotels. Superb location and roomy. They also provide complimentary luggage storage after check-out. So far one of the best hotel i stayed in Kyushu. Hotel is conveniently location just next to JR station, and even has a walkway directly from JR station link to the lobby. Super good location. Connected to the JR Kagoshima Station, the hotel is situated at a most convenient location next to AMU Plaza. Very good hotel! clean, comfortable, very reasonable rate and extremely convenient location in train station. Fantastic place to stay if your looking for convenient in terms on travelling. Location is the best of all! Bus, train, restaurants, shopping, every thing you need. You just go outside of the hotel and you have it all. I could not complain. Considering the hustle bustle in the area, the room was quiet. It is true that I could even hear my neighbor in next room turn around, snore etc., but again it was not a big deal. Very good location connect to JR station and shopping malls. Hotel staff friendly and easy check in & express checkout without hassle. Everything is great. Good location, room. Will be visit again.
What are the cons of staying at JR Kyushu Hotel Kagoshima?
The rooms are better suited for lone business travellers. It was cramped for an old couple on holiday. The breakfast was the worst we had ever experienced in Japan. The breakfast room was “ripe for renovation” with seat bases sagging. There was basically zero western food options. The Japanese food items had really been done on the cheap. This breakfast ruined an otherwise perfect hotel stay. Let’s hope management sort this out soon. Not quite good to prevent noise, I can hear SB's takling from their room. Nothing. Do be aware that there is a big step up to enter the bathroom/toilet. I found the layout confusing - north & south ends no being connected. It would be good to have the food/restaurant situation clearer. My Japanese language is not good (first time in Japan) (my fault for not learning more) so I found it very difficult to know where to go, how to book breakfast beforehand. The staff did not ask if I wanted breakfast. None of the staff spoke any English and the signage was not clear. I know U shouldn’t expect English to be automatically accommodated, but it’s very common elsewhere and just a few clear signs in English would benefit the hotel as I would’ve used its facilities more. Once I found the restaurant & the staff allowed me in, it was really good, thanks. Room size. It misses an onsen. None. It’s location at the front of street , not many restaurant, rooms on lower floors will hear noise from train traffic. Small room. Room’s carpet is not clean. I couldn't log on to the internet to check my emails. There was a block on the computer in the lobby. I later tried at an internet cafe but couldn't log on there either. Bed was a little hard but again typical for japan so no complaints. Room is very small, but I was by myself and had very little luggage, so it was not a big deal, but if I were to have a big bag, it would not be comfortable in the room to turn around. While the entrance is inside Kagoshimachuo station, which is very convenient for travelers with large luggage like us, it was kind of it's downfall too - we could've heard trains outside. Wasn't too much of a bother, but if you're easily woken up, consider it when booking. Other than that, everything was amazing! The staff was very patient with the language differences and helped us store our large luggage for 3 days even after we checked out (during our travel to Yakushima) Corridor had a kind of smoke-ish smell to it, but the room itself (non-smoking) was fine. Small room. Room is slightly compact but convenient location and decent rate.
