The hotel has excellent views of Sakurajima on one side. There are good bus connections to the major tourist sites, even though Google won't list them in a search.
Very few staff spoke more than a couple of words of English. All bus info, for example, was in Japanese only. I like hard beds, but these were exceptionally hard. The hotel is a little down at the heal, but clean.
The location was good with a great view of the volcano. The water pressure was great and the Toto toilets are fantastic. The housekeeping services are excellent with nice amenities but no hand lotion. Easy walk to the bay, convenience store, grocery store, 100 yen store. Geoffrey was fantastic and most helpful. Wine and beer are included in the evening dinner buffet.
Only 1 - 2 people on staff were able to communicate in English. The first day I arrived late in the evening and was told that I would not be able to have the two dinners for which I had paid and I would not be able to have them during any of the next 8 days I was at the hotel. The meals were just forfeited. There is NO swimming pool as it appears to be in the pictures. There is no fitness center or equipment. You MUST pay a 500 yen fee per person every day for the mineral spa whether or not you use it. I was not told about that until day 5. You MUST be nude to use the mineral spa - there are separate spas for the men and women. The food choices were very challenging for me with no ability to customize anything such as having an egg white omeltte. Very confusing when they talk about single and double rooms, which seems to be connected to the size of the room rather than the bed but still not sure. In my first room there were many stains on the rug.
The view from the Onsen is magnificent, i recommend to go as soon as it open it the morning (6am) to enjoy the sunset over Sakurajima volcano ! My room was small but comfortable, unfortunately i didn't have mountain view from my room, but they installed a lounge accessible on the 12th floor to enjoy the wonderful view as much as you want ! Finally the staff was amazing with me, they made me feel very welcomed and they are always ready to help you at anytime. :) Oh and thank you Geoffroy, even if some of the staff can speak very good english, it was nice to have someone who was speaking french to take care of me ! :D
The only down point of this hotel is his location because it's a bit far away from the city center, but they provide a free bus shuttle to the main area, you just need to check the schedule before and you're all good ! :)
Very convenient hotel with excellent SPA (Onsen) and with free parking included (the cheapest place I've stayed in, one month in Japan). Very good location for the seaview of the volcano.
A bit old US style hotel, a refresh of the rooms will make it perfect.
