its central location, near all the meteora monasteries...thanassi and toula are delightful, animated, friendly and helpful...the terrace and views
Great location, great service and warm hospitality. The rooms are comfortable with amazing view. The service and hospitality are extraordinary.
The interior of the hotel; very rustic aand mahagony. There are cute cats around in the court yard. The view is amazingly Meteora and all that. The location is pretty remote. Need taxi for 5euro to reach city center kalambaka. However, the hotel should be perfect for honeymooners and ppl with cars.
Owners were very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, very, very close to the monasteries of Meteora. Probably this is the hotel closest for visiting these monasteries. Wonderful view of the mountains. The hotel room was comfortable. The decor was done to a very high quality and it looks like a medieval castle inside. I would highly recommend this hotel!
The most obviously good thing about Doupiani House is the amazing view of Meteora and the monasteries - we stayed in one of the garden view rooms and had a great view. We were also treated to great hospitality, with a friendly welcome, good suggestions about where to go for dinner. The breakfast was also nice, a better than usual buffet.
The staff has been extremely welcoming. The location of the hotel is excellent for visiting the Meteore and the panoramic view the hotel offers is sublime. Breakfast: delicious! The owner of the hotel suggests very good restaurants.
The view was beautiful from the balcony of the room and the garden. The place is very nicely decorated. It has a car park. There are lovely cats around and in the hotel. There was a fire place and nice sitting places around it, but they told that they light the fire at winter when the snow falls. The yogurt , bread and the honey were delicious at breakfast! And a last advice; if you will stay there in low season go to the big street at Kalambaka for dining, most of the restaurants are closed or serve a few meal in Kastraki. It was not easy to find the hotel as it’s located wrong on Google Maps, pay attention to get a proper map. The noise insulation of the walls was not well; you can hear the cough of your neighbor. There is no curtain for the shower so whole bathroom gets wet after shower.
Wonderful view of the rocks and village. Location very pleasant, quiet like in the country but at the edge of the village so restaurants near by. Very personable proprietors. Flat pillows, no extra ones. Hard beds.
Quiet and charming hotel. Its location at village edge makes it a great place to enjoy the serenity of Meteora region. The rooms and lobby are furnished with taste, especially loved the fireplace room.
The views were beautiful, rooms clean and spacious, and the hosts were very friendly and helpful.
Clean. Comfortable Wonderful Hotess.
excellent, high-class hotel complicated to find
design, location, view, very good quality of forniture,lights,bed's... comfortable and quiet, very good price for this quality
The quality of the hotel, the incredible view of the Meteora from the room, and the friendliness of the staff and owners. We did not have a car, so the location was a bit difficult. One needs access to a car, taxi, or tour bus to access the town easily.
Spaceous rooms, excellent view Improve the sound proof of the building (!!!) and the serviced offered in order to become a 5star hotel...since it is not
the best hotel in Meteora
everything was very good , grat view, large and nice lobby, big and comfortable rooms, very good bed's (coco-mat )
The location is fantastic There are still some unfinished works at the hotel, but overall the hotel is in good condition
location, view of mountains still looks like unfinished property, not enough clients
Great view of the Meteora rocks from our room. Easy access and plenty of parking facilities which is unusual for the area Breakfast starts at 8 AM, it should start earlier. They did tell us that we can have it earlier if we requested but this should be a general rule and not contingent on special request
The very friendly staff, very helpful and always there to answer any questions or issues. We chose this hotel because the feedback was very good. One of the most improtant things for a hotel is its cleaninless. Unfortunately we did not have a clean room at all. We believe though that the fault is assigned to the cleaning staff only. We had a little talk with the owners and we are sure that the got the point.
A nice small family hotel with an excellent location near the Meteora monasteries. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. A very good value for money.
The personnel of the hotel was very kind to us, friendly.
Staff was very kind. Nice view to Meteora cliffs.
we liked the hotel, the brekfast was good, the peopel of the hotel are very nice. to wake up in the morning and see the beauteful mountens was a very good experiance.
The Tsikeli Hotel is a small family owned and run hotel, in an excellent location for a visit to the Meteora. The room was small, but clean. It had a double and an extra single bed - did not request the extra bed and this is what made it even smaller. The breakfast was an adequate continental, with a welcome toasted ham and cheese sandwich. There were no side tables next to the bed - no space probably - the room was small.
Tsikeli Hotel was the best choice ever. We arrived late due to traffic in Larissa, but they expected us. The room was clean, with hot water at 11 PM. The location is beautiful, and you can see Meteora clear and near. If you can not find the hotel easy, here you have the coordinates from gps: 39.71756 gr. North, and 21.61647 gr. East. We highly recommend this hotel.
A very good place to stay !!! The staff is wonderful.
Brilliant views of Meteora from rooms and gardens, fantastic breakfast, staff could not do enough for you.
Nice rocks view from the garden, very obliging staff inconvenient beds and cramped parking & bath place
The host was exceptional, the accomodations lovely and the view- in the shadow of the pinnacle mountains- gorgeous
Excellent location. Very friendly service. Wonderful views The breakfast could have been more interesting - the "artificial " cheese and ham palled after the first day - although a hard boiled egg was provided it was cold so not very appetising
Really nice staff. excellent service. All it's ok.
Location, location, location! What a beautiful setting with fabulous hospitality.
This was a beautiful hotel. The owners were very helpful and were wonderful people. The view was fantastic and it was in a nice quiet area away from high traffic, but still close enough to access amenities.
the warm and relaxed hospitality. The spectacular location and views. the peace, the lavish breakfast. We liked everything.
New hotel, very well designed interior.Friendly service and atmosphere. Wonderful view from the terrace. Bigger comfort then I expect for the money I pay.
Very nice hotel, a real 3-star hotel, maybe evn a 3+. The rooms and the facilities are great, the view from the hotel is breathtaking, the breakfast is very good. The owner is very welcoming and accommodating.
The hotel was great and the man running it was very hospitable. It had a great view, the rooms were impecable and very tastefully furnished and it was very quite. Excellent accomodations.
Very comfortable hotel, nicely decorated rooms, very clean, located in an amazing and quiet environment. Breathtaking vue. Exceptional warm welcome by the owner and his wife. We highly recommend. Nothing.
The hotel is located in a quite beautiful area just outside the noisy town. Staff were extremely helpful, kind and hospitable. We celebrated a marriage anniversary and the receptionist brought us wine and fruit to celebrate. The hotel keeps dozens of booklets with info on the area in all languages for the guests to use while staying at the hotel. They have copies of a map and hours during which convents are open. Breakfast was rich and tasty. We chose a garden view room – and it had a small balcony from which we could see the mountains far away. Shower was a bit on the small side (I guess it is the same all over Greece), no elevator – even though our room was only one floor up, is not easy with a heavy suitcase.
Very kind hotel staff and excellent breakfast. Hotel was very clean even according to Finnish standards and they are very high. I have over 100 hotel nights every year and this was really positive experience. Driving instrúction is totally wrong and hopeless.
The location is great, but hotel staff is the reason that recomand the hotel for any one traveling or visiting the area. No!
Everything was very nice. The hotel per se and the location. The bed is huge! I strongly recommend it. Nothing.
the owner and staff are very nice and helpful. the breakfast is nice. Romm is clean and spacious. little gift sent from hotel is cute too, nothing
The owners of the hotel are lovely people who could not have been more hospitable and helpful. The hotel is magnificent and the views from our rooms were amazing. I would higly recommend this hotel
Excellent hotel, friendly staff and great breakfast. Great views of Meteora from front rooms.
the place, the people and atmosphere
Hotel staff was very friendly, excellent view, excellent breakfast with local goodies, room very clean and quiet, very good service
nothing to complain. All the staffs is very kind and well organized.
I like the good location and staff were very kind and disposal I didn't like all the bathroom in 4 rooms i booked: clean but the shower box was very damaged
Rooms were basic but functional, comfortable and clean with airconditioning. Amazing views from the rooms. Staff were very helpful in providing information on the monasteries and provided us with coffee/drinks in the evening. Breakfast consisted of fruit, breads, cake, hard boiled eggs, toast, jams, yogurt, honey and tea/coffee/juice. The hotel is right at the beginning of the road up to the monasteries and the first of these is actually within walking distance. The views and proximity to the monasteries are perfect especially if you are on a tight time schedule.
The rooms were spacious and pretty comfy. The breakfast was really good, fresh orange juice and a variety of bread products and meat and cheese. The hotel location was an easy walking distance from the end of the monasteries (we taxied to/ started at St. Stephanos and walked back to Kastraki). The hotel staff was not very friendly or helpful. They gave us the wrong time for breakfast (even though I asked in and understood their Greek) and did not offer any help with navigating our trip to the monasteries, simply pointing to the store across the street where you could buy maps.
Amazing location at the foot of the Meteora cliffs. Very nice hotel, comfortable and well designed.
The hotel is recently renowated, with comfortable area for breakfast and a very good view on the mountains. Rooms are comfortable, the hotel leaves impression of being well run. Cancellation policy
The free wifi service.
Nice location in a restful place, with spectacular view of the Meteora rocks. Confortable room and hospitable personnel.
Really friendly and open hosts - they give us a lot of tips where to eat in the area. Clean rooms, substantial breakfast.
A friendly old lady runs this hotel which is ideally located for a hike up to Meteora. Rooms are clean with balcony that opens up to splendid view of the rock mountains. It is very quiet at night and you will have to travel 1km to get to the lively town area. Free Wi Fi at the lounge area. I like the old rustic feel of this place. Breakfast was ok.
the staff attitude and adequacy! Rare! The breakfast in the room could be improved a bit.
It is maybe the biggest hotel in Meteora. The view is very nice. You have to pay 10 Euros per day to use their gym or indoor pool. Wired internet is 5 Euros per hour.
Hotel in a good location right in the town and convenient for Meteora, with good views of mountains
Very good position for visiting Meteora. After a hard walk you can use swimming pool. Hotel is in Kalambaka, that was hard to understand from site map. Very nice, modern, hotel. I strongly recommend this hotel.
Situation quiet but easy access to town. View of Meteora from our room. Comfy room, good breakfast. Most guests were groups in buses but still catered well for us as independent travellers
The surroundings and view of the Meteora It's a very ugly building, a characterless blot on the wonderful local landscape. A disgrace that Greece allowed this to be built in this very special location.
The staff was very helpful and accomodating. Definitely a luxury style greek hotel that supports a family travelling together. Would stay again without hesitation. The pool was not a great point at the hotel. it needed to be maintained better.
very confortable hotel with a nice staff. perfect location for the Meteore visit
Almost everything was perfect. Beautiful surroundings, comfortable room and convenient price. Ideal location to stay if you want to visit Meteora. Lack of Internet
The place was fantastic, very homely guest house. Owners were lovely and very helpful. The position was fantastic, we had a car so it made it easy to get all the monastries as well as back to town when we needed to. Good local restraunts were in walking distance though. The view was spectacular, we enjoyed ourselves very much. No bad points to report!!!
The kidness of the owners, the location near Meteoras Monasteries. Very peaceful and quite place perfect for rest and get the feelings of the nature... Lovely Like all Greece... No curtains in the shower!
Mr Papastathis and his wife made me feel as at home. Mr Papastathis speaks very good German, and is always available for a talk with his guests and to tell them about tours in Meteora, Greece, etc. The house is in standard style, the room was big, clean, with a nice view, comfortable, parking (!) and breakfast was simple but very good. WIFI free, but mainly in the dinning room (in the bedroom was a little weak). Very nice terrace in front of the house, with wonderfull view! All in all the value for money rate was excellent. I have always problems with showers with a simple courtain...You know, the floor in the toilet becomes wet and there are no elements available to clean after the shower, and then have to clean with the bath carpet, what may be is not optimal. The dining room is big and has a good view but needs some more ambience (music from time to time, colour..), some life, specially during breakfast or at night.
The manager was very friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay a positive one. We appreciated the off-road gated parking since we were driving a rental car. The view from the Papasthasis and from our room window was overwhelmingly impressive. Its close proximity to the Meteora Monastery sites was a plus for us - we chose to walk everywhere, including from the Guesthouse up to the Grand Meteoron - even though this took a little more time than driving. The room price was extremely reasonable - probably the best deal we got in our holiday in Greece, and there were some wonderful places. The Guesthouse is only a year old and everything is clean, fresh and tastefully appointed. Nothing bad to say about this place and itw wonderful owner.
Fine quality accomodation
Simple yet had everything we needed. Although the staff spoke little English it did not stop them from helping us find places to hike and to eat. View was amazing!! Breakfast was basic (juice, coffee and tea, bread and spreads)
Friendly Guest house, a bit off the village but on the road to the monastaries. Great views The water was just warm for the shower
The view was just amazing..... one of the most atmospheric locations
I like location and hotel staff I did not like the room
Very helpful and friendly staff and good location. Everything was fine.
comfort beds, heating, breakfast, reception service the floor of the room was not so clean
Good hotel. Very nice and helpfull Dutch girl at the reception. Well situated and nice view on the mountains from the balcony. Breakfast not really convincing.
the beds were superb, the view was nice, friendly stuff, comfortable rooms, excellent value for money.
Amazing value for money! Beautiful hotel with a nice breakfast included and well situated for visiting the meteora. The staff were extremely helpful and we got a room with a view of the meteroa for no extra cost.
Very friendly staff, great location, clean and spacious room, great view of the mountains, inexpensive
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly! The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Easy drive up to the monasteries or you can catch the walking trail near by.
The welcome and help from the owner and his sister excellent. They not only provided assistance with bags and parking but without asking gave us information on local sites and opening times. Everything was good
Very easy to find - impresive lobby with status of Greek Gods and Godesses. Staff extremely helpfull with good advises on places to visit and directions, nothing was too much trouble for them. Nice views from second floor room to Meteora, really enjoyed having breakfast on the balcony facing Meteora. Rooms are small and simple but clean and comfortable. Best rooms are to be found on the 3rd floor though. Some could describe breakfast as poor but it was ok for us. We would stay there again for sure.
Enjoyed our short stay. Wonderful family and a beautiful, beautiful home.
This is a great place to stay! Very charming rooms, quite large in my opinion, and friendly staff. The breakfast is okay. The hotel is simply beautiful. It is not exactly in the centre of the city (if worthy of that name), but has a quiet location which takes not even a five minutes' walk to the centre. Top hotel! Though the hotel has the most charming rooms, the interior designer seems to have made a few tiny mistakes. There is no light above the mirror at the washbasin. There is a bathtub, but if you want to take a shower there is no shower curtain of glass (not disturbing though because even the bathrooms are very large). There is a small refrigerator in each room, but it's more like a cool box.
We had a beautiful view of St Stephanos monastery from our bedroom. It is very conveniently located by the train station and a 5-10 minute walk to the centre. We were provided with a map of the area and given wonderful directions on how to get around. They also provided us with 1.5L of water free of charge.
Owners are very friendly and helpful, rooms are new and decorated in good taste. There is a room to improve the breakfast further to contain fresh vegetables, cheese and some hot dishes
View was great, rooms were good. wrong side of the tracks, the town is not big but it's still not quite in town
Great position just in front of "Meteora" with a very nice view; hotel is easy to find. Very warm welcome
Everything was fine ,the rooms very confortable ,the stuff very friendly and helpfull and the location great (5 minute walk from city center).
The staff were wonderfully nice, and our room was so cute! And what a view! Nothing, it was perfect.
peaceful environment with back yard overlooking the mountains. It was a little too far from the bus station. Better for those who drive or arrive by the nearby train station.
The beatiful view of the Meteora rocks from the balcony of our room. The owner of the hotel is very friendly and interested in offering a great service. The atmosphere is cosy.
The hopitality of the owners was superb!
The view to Meteora, the heating of the room and the breakfast. The bathroom didnt have a proper door but an accordion folding one(!!!!), the sink was into the shower(!!!!), the bed was unconfortable and the pillows also. The style is stuck back to 60's and a general internal renovation would be if not nice necessary! The price also was to high for the overall situation that we experienced...
clean room, cozy facility, pleasant staff. The only thing I did not like about the information given by the staff - train schedule and monastery hours were not correct, which messed up my schedule. You should always check with more reliable source.
Very nice location. From the balcony you can see an awsome view with the Metheora. Clean and staff very friendly. No breakfast included.
Staff are very lovely and most helpful. The position is close walking distance to Meteora. Breakfast provided was excellent.
the location against Meteora mountans is exelent no
The staff (actually only one guy as I could see) took good care on satisfying our demands. For example he let us choose some rooms (he had 3 triple room available, even though he reported 2 double room availabe on booking.com). We had some problem with heating (some technical problem), but the staff has solved the problem very fast. The building is well positioned. The view is nice from most rooms. The rooms were clean. The only serious problem was the fact that the hotel staff did not refresh the air in the rooms previous to our arrival. When I have arrived, it was too cold outside (about 5 Celsius degrees I think) to do this properly and a heavy smell of still air was present in the rooms. Most objects inside the hotel rooms were pretty old (phisically and/or moral). This has created me an image of 2 stars hotel, even though the hotel is rated as 3 stars and the price was for a 3 stars one. To put it in other words, it was just a little bit expensive for the quality the hotel is. We have paid 50 euros with breakfast included. I would say the fair price is around 40 to 45 euros with breakfast included.
Very nice hotel right near meteora. Good personal, clear room. Absolutly comfortable atmospher. Good budget variant for 1-2 day Meteora treveler.
the view. the breakfast could be better.
Very basic but does the job. If one doesn't expect one doesn't get disappointed.
Bright, clean room with a great view of the mountains and one of the monasteries. Friendly staff were very helpful, standard Greek breakfast was included and the location was an easy taxi ride to the monasteries and the walk down the mountain was hard but rewarding. Got caught on the wifi only being available downstairs, cigarette smoke was present in the lobby and dining areas and the beds we had weren't very comfortable.
Breakfast was good and included. Staff was helpful and spoke English. Room was fine. Security. When I checked in the door from the room to the balcony was open. It is a common balcony with other rooms separated by a short fence. I locked the door when I went to sleep. When I came back to the room after hiking the next day the door was open. Nothing happened but didn't like the fact that any of the other guests could have easily come into my room.
Convenient to tourist areas. Attentive staff. Good value. Refridgerator in room was not working
The hotel was quiet and had a pretty good breakfast offering. Although the hotel description and many brochures at the reception tout internet/wifi in the lobby, I could not get it to work. The network exists but won't connect.
Good family run hotel.
The wonderful view and relaxed atmosphere
The location near to the mountains and monasteries. Good view of the nature, balcony. The bathroom was not clean enough. We found bottle of water on the floor of somebody and was still there till we left. The room was very small and the bed as well. For a tall person (1.85m) is not appropiate. During mornings not enough warm water. The breakfast was very poor and some small butters seem to be old and taken out of the refri for long periods of time, the bread was hard and dry. Air condition very noisy.
the view and the fresh bread for breakfast afternoon/evening front staff person who sat for hours in front of the computer neglecting his job and preventing guests from access to computer-l left written note to owner of Also's House.
Friendly and helpful. Best is that we can use the kitchen facility.
great staff, wonderful view onto meteora monastries from nice balconies, huge terrace, cosy and hotel design typically greek. only a very small drawback: the breakfast was a bit poor - no cheese or cold cuts.
Gorgeous view of the Meteora cliffs. Right next to an incredible hiking trail. Owner was so gracious. We couldn't get into town until 6:00am so he only charged us half price. He also helped us order food when it was raining. Very good experience overall. Beds a bit short, but not too bad. Very good hotel.
Beautifully located hotel with a relaxed atmosphere and stunning views
The position very near the stones from Meteora. The staff was inpolite and especially in regard with the breakfast. The breakfast was a misery !!!
Friendly service and value for money.
Service provided by the staff The breakfast utility such as oven
Very nice owners!
Very nice place. Very nice people, and a incredible view. You feel at home. Comfortable and clean rooms. It worth.
Excellent service, super-friendly family running the hotel. They give you all the information you might need about anything. They really try to help you to enjoy your stay. With no doubt, they were the most friendly people we found in 2 weeks in Greece. The breakfast was very good, and more than enough to explore Meteora. Apart from being an excellent hotel, it's the best place to have dinner in the town (economic, good quality and very tasty).
Very good location to visit Metheora. Very friendly staff and really nice family atmosphere. Very good taverne, you do not have to look for place for lunch or dinner. Really nice place! Nothing
This is a very nice, warm, family run hotel.
I really enjoyed the terrace with a magnificent view of Meteora. I also enjoyed the personnel that was very gentle with us. The beds were clean, the bathroom was better than in the photos. Breakfast was nice with the same great view. We recommended this guesthouse to our friends and family. Maybe we would have liked to have breakfast on our own terrace.
Location was great, the close view from the windows of the Meteora clifs was spectacular. Also the places of interest are in 5-10 min walk. Room was incredibly comfortable, clean and big. The food choices in taverna were vast and delicious. The owners of the hotel were great and friendly. They helped us in everything and gave a lot of information regarding the monastries. There was free internet and good parking. Without any doubt this hotel might been recommended for those who want to enjoy the quiet and magnificient surroundings of the Meteora. With any doubt we would return back there and recommend it to other tourists.
Family was very friendship and helpful. I sensed as my home. In this season, Kastraki was quiet and so well for rest. Localization of hotel is wonderful that very closed to Meteora and in the town center of Kastraki.
Great couple running hotel-they were very friendly and gave us lots of information Great restaurant. Huge breakfast. Clean, comfortable rooms.Quiet location. Great location for access to Meteora. Best small hotel we have stayed at. Fantastic value.
the hotel is old but very comfortable and clean,The bathroom is huge and very clean. The location is very easy to find and the enviroment is excellent. the hotel needs renovation
Very nice decoration and nice spaces. Great fire places! Acces to the garden is a plus, probably even more so in the warm months. Friendly staff. Easy access despite road works, and not too noisy despite the traffic. All in all, good value for money An indoor swimming pool would be great, and there certainly is enough space !
Clean, good breakfast, great room Staff wasn't super knowledgeable about surrounding towns and public transportation, it was hard to get to meteora or other towns
Fruit basket and bottle of water in room upon arrival. Good waiter in the restaurant. No a la carte restaurant (only buffet for €18 p.p.). You had to pay €2 for using wifi in your room, but the wifi did not work. The location: on a highway outside of Kalambaka. There are plenty of other hotels in the center of the town (Edelweiss and Divani). The hotel looks like it has been stuck in the '90s: needs a reboot.
The location is perfect for seeing the monasteries and the staff at the hotel speak sufficient English to be able to advise on tavernas and other activities in a small village. A good large breakfast was provided.
It's placed near the monastery in the old town. You can go by foot anywhere..
quietness - space - location - good decoration the third bed was of small comfort - the difficulties to be understood in English
Friendly Ukrainian receptionist/attendant. Very good breakfast. Fantastic location. Very nice apartments. The TV should have international channels. There were 2 TV's in our apartment but both only had local programs.
It was beautifully renovated, with helpful staff and a stunning location. It was just a little hard to find . . . off the beaten path.
The staff is very friendly, our Family Suite was spacious and well equipped (full kitchen!), and breakfast was very good. But the location in the village of Kastraki, up against the Metora outcroppings, was the best! We ate both nights at a taverna in the town square and our daughter joined local children on the town playground after supper! I can't really think of anything.
Very good hotel, large room, large bathroom, clean and cosy. Staff very helpful and nice.
Great view to the Meteora mountains. Very well designed interior of the hotel. It is not well marked on the internet map. Directions to the hotel in the village do not exists.
Talk about 5 star accommodationat 3 star price! Ultra tasteful apartment with bed / ensuite / lounge rooms. Great views of Meteora Rocks, close to restaurants and monastaries. Beat breakfast and welcoming staff - 11 out of 10!
The hotel, although very difficult to find as up a very steep hill in the old habitation area, was lovely - very tastefully decorated, great staff and awesome views of the monastries. The rooms were comfortable (particularly when they moved us to one with a balcony the second night)and breakfast was varied with good coffee! Watching a thunderstorm over the Meteori monastries is something that we will remember forever. All of the monastaries are within 30 mins drive of the hotel and there are a couple of great restaurants in the village which is just a few mins walk down the hill. Would definetly recommend and would stop there again if in the area. As car access if difficult from Kastraki village itself due to the narrow and steep lanes, make sure that you access along the mountain road from Kalampaka - nuch easier driviing - whichever way you there it is well worth it!
the location is wonderful! rather hard to find at first time, but the staff is very helpful and friendly, ready to meet you and show the way. gorgeous view. very cosy well designed suite. very close to Meteora and to village centre no internet access and very poor tv channels choice
