7.9 Good
Pros: We were there during a strong sand storm. The staff was so helpful in updating us on the conditions outside. We had to stay longer the next day due to the wind conditions. They were accommodating and never rushed us to check out. Nice restaurant at the top of the hill.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was quiet, warm and rather spacious. The beds were comfy and one of the bathroom really nice. The breakfast area was practical and clean as well, the coffee yummy. Really, not much bad things to complain about!
Cons: We really didn't like the provided Skyr. ;) That actually was our biggest complaint. Compared to our other stays in Iceland, the guesthouse was quite big and had a definite (very good!) hostelfeel to it - if you are looking for cosy, intimate guesthouses with two or three other travellers, this is not your place. One word about the food: both restaurants around the house were okay, but you might just be better of cooking yourself. They feel very touristy and offer very basic menus - fish of the day, lamb of the day, soup of the day and some other items - that taste good, but are nothing special. Worst: dessert wasn't good either place... ;)
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The best accommodation in our 10 days trip. Everything was perfect.
7.9 Good
Pros: The common kitchen is very equipped. I love the cake they offered for free and other basic food, like coffee, milk, yogurt and juice. The staff was very friendly. I like that they have a sink inside the bedroom.
Cons: Quite expensive for having to share the bathroom and toilet.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was close to the glacier lagoon

7.0 Good
Pros: The location and the views were amazing
Cons: The price for one night was a little bit over the average around the area and we were expecting more from the hotel. But it was great though.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast and nice view
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff Very interesting museum Good Restaurant
Cons: The reception and restaurant are far from the apartments. In cold days, It matters.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice beds, clean and spacious room, clean bathroom. I really liked that they use geothermal hot water for the shower. The view around should be spectacular. It was snowing during they day, so we did not get to see much detail, but the sea was frozen and a big snowy mountain was right behind us.
Cons: The two duvets in a double bed (it seems to be Icelandic tradition)

Pros: Breakfast was great
Cons: We couldnt use the kitchen for cooking.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room was extremely well thought out in design. Each bed had own coat hook and electric point.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The place was a lot cleaner and comfier than I expected. I think the pictures didn't do justice to how clean the rooms are. Each bedroom is also equipped with its own sink for us to brush our teeth and clean up privately. Thora was a great host and prepared breakfast for us everyday. She gave us some useful information about the area and was very accommodating especially on our last day after we checked out, she allowed us to stay longer and wait the storm out before we could hit the road.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and clean rooms.
Cons: It's bit further away.
5.8 Okay
Pros: It is quite newly built. The mattress is firm enough.
Cons: Many cups ( porcelain and plastic ) are uncleaned properly with coffee stains and unknown dirty spots that really scared me. The water facet was properly fixed in the wash basin in my bedroom. The height of the water facet was too short that we could not wash too much things and even to take water to brush our teeth. There are only two old and rusted tools as bedside cabinets. There is no shower curtain. No hangers !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Though its a hostel, it was more like a hotel. Well-organized and self-service kind of place. Value for money as it was compact and clean and served the purpose of one night stay very well.
7.5 Good
Cons: Floor was rather dusty and breakfast buffet below expectation
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location near Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
Cons: what you pay does not match what you got that is my feeling.
7.5 Good
Pros: The building was new and the bed really comfortable.
Cons: They told us they were full and they didn't allow us to use the dinning area even though the opening hours were posted on the door and it was closed. People were moving tables and chairs from room to room along the corridor.
Guesthouse Gerði - Kalfafellsstadur - Building
5
7.7 Good (972 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Guesthouse Gerði in Hofn, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Vatnajokull. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location is very good.
Cons: For the price the rooms were too basic, it didn't even have shampoo. The price it excessive for what it is. They take advantage of the fact that there are not many places to stay on that area.
7.9 Good
Pros: Only 10 minutes to diamond beach and less than an hour to Vatnajökull National Park. There was cocoa powder, milk tea powder and hot coffee in the free drink bar. It was nice to have some hot drinks after glacier hike or ice cave tour.
Cons: There was no kitchen nor tea kettle. You can only access to “hot water” from drink bar but usually it was not hot enough (especially if you want to have some instant noodles). Also, not a big fan of pitched roof.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Nice breakfast, nice view to ocean (outside). Short drive to glacier lagoons (Jökulsarlon and Fjällsarlon) and beach.
Cons: Floor light war defect first night. Worse: strange waste waste water odour in bathroom for several times, especially when showering. Maybe this was only temporary. Dinner was poor for the money....
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed our stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice dark sky location for Aurora watching. Rooms were generous in size. On-site restaurant was good
Cons: The facilities are fairly basic. Would have liked a small fridge in the room
