Kingston is an enjoyable destination for families, couples, or work trips, and there’s a hotel to suit every traveler's needs. Many of the best hotels to stay at in Kingston are close to popular attractions and I love walking around the downtown area. I suggest visiting the historic locomotive train, Engine 1095, in Confederation Park and taking photos with the Kingston sign. Located between Toronto and Ottawa, Kingston is the perfect destination for a road trip. Here’s my pick of the best hotels in Kingston.

If you’re looking for a waterfront escape with stunning views of Lake Ontario, head to Residence Inn by Marriott Kingston Water's Edge. One of the best hotels in Kingston, it’s close to some of my favorite attractions, such as boat tours to the 1000 Islands and the red hop-on-hop-off Kingston Trolley. They do a great complimentary buffet breakfast in the cozy dining room too.

The hotel’s spacious suites feature fully equipped kitchens and separate living areas for extended stays. Families will appreciate the full-size refrigerators for late-night snacks and on-site laundry, while business travelers can take advantage of meeting rooms, a business center, and in-suite desks.

Rooms come with either a water or city view too, which is a nice touch. I suggest packing a bathing suit for the refreshing indoor pool and there’s also a well-equipped fitness center.

You can’t beat the location of the Best Western Fireside Inn, with its close proximity to the 1000 Islands and other popular attractions. This charming hotel is known for its friendly service and on check-in it’s easy to see why this is one of the best hotels in Kingston.

Rooms are decorated in country decor with authentic pine furniture, cozy fireplaces with love seats, and marble bathrooms. But it’s the hotel’s specialty-themed suites that make this hotel stand out. I suggest outer-space fans book the Tranquility Base Suite, with a personal crater pool and a lunar lander.

The Flights of Fantasy Suite, meanwhile, has a magical hot air balloon bed and private sauna. There are two on-site restaurants: Tom’s Place is a chill lounge with a roaring fireplace and Bistro Stephan provides elegant fine dining.

This bed-and-breakfast-style inn provides exclusive accommodation choices and no two rooms are alike. Indulge with luxurious walk-in showers, premium bedding, espresso machines, and fireplaces in most rooms. I suggest booking the Premium Queen room with a gorgeous four-poster bed and private tower. Save time to unwind in the lush garden or the cozy porch.

Located within the Old Stones district of downtown Kingston, savor the complimentary breakfast, which comes with cold-pressed juices and fresh pastries, before exploring for the day.

Conveniently located just minutes from downtown Kingston, you’ll have easy access to boutique stores, art galleries, and plenty of dining options, including one of my favorites, Miss Bao Restaurant + Cocktail Bar.

Suites are spacious with stylish furnishings, large TVs, recliner lounges, large workspaces, and fully equipped kitchens. Business travelers will appreciate the spacious conference room and event opportunities. There’s also a pool, fitness center, laundry facilities and 24-hour market. I suggest having a drink and snack on the outdoor patio in the fresh air.

It's beautifully furnished, with equipped kitchens to enjoy a quiet night in after exploring Kingston. You’ll even find a curated menu of food and beverages like tea, chocolate, wine, and seltzers from Canadian suppliers.

I love that they provide a record player and speaker in your loft with a selection of vinyl records. The hotel’s mobile concierge even allows you to request different records from your phone.

You can’t get any closer to Queens University than Donald Gordon Hotel and Conference Centre. Located in the heart of the historic campus, this charming property is one of the best hotels in Kingston for those looking to be in a quieter residential area. I suggest you save time to walk around Queens University and check out the stunning architecture, specifically the limestone clock tower at Grant Hall.

This boutique hotel in Kingston has 80 guestrooms and 15 conference rooms and meeting spaces, making it a great choice for business travelers. The modern rooms include a flat-screen TV, mini fridge, and coffee maker, with breakfast included during your stay. This newly renovated hotel features 88 guestrooms, including 24 suites with microwaves, mini fridges, flat-screen TVs, and workspaces for business travelers. There's also a complimentary breakfast buffet with plenty of hot and cold options. I suggest bringing your bathing suit and workout clothes to take advantage of the hotel’s fitness center, indoor pool and relaxing whirlpool.
