Excellent staff, great location for our purposes.
I had a truly wonderful time here. The location was beautiful and serene, next to the river and tucked away in the mountains. I was the only visitor to the three local, walkable temples, which made it a much different (and to me, better) experience than the crowded temples of Tokyo or Kyoto. In the evening, I enjoyed a delicious dinner served at the riverside by the most friendly staff! Another group even invited me over to join them; chatting and laughing with them while the owner helped with translating was the best part of my entire trip! If you’re looking to see the countryside, getting away from the crowds and enjoying traditional Japanese hospitality while doing so, this is the place to be. As a solo female traveler I felt safe in the area as well. I was there in early September; later in the fall there may be more crowds with the changing leaves. I want to come back and spend more time here!
Others have noted that the building is older: it’s true, but I found everything to work just fine.
My husband and I stayed for one night and had a fantastic time! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The drove us to nearby temples so we could hike back. At the end of the stay, everyone came out to wave us goodbye! Would highly recommend!
Staff super friendly, food excellent, and the location is beautiful.
Small family run Japanese style hotel set in nature overlooking a small river. Outdoor dining by the river was an excellent memory. Staff picked us up from the train station and brought bags to the room. Also helped in making some birthday activities as a special event. Thank you!!!!
Nothing really. Staff spoke some English
