At night he transformed into the chef and cooked us a superb meal. If you are walking the GR7 this is a great place to start or finish.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: I liked Viña y Rosales as soon as i walked into the place. It's a big house with large, baronial rooms, lots of chestnut tree beams, lots of space and lots of atmosphere. Moreover, it has a wonderful garden bursting with flowers and shrubbery. Raoul and Marjet are marvellous hosts and we had more than a few amusing and interesting conversations fuelled by excellent home-made meals and local wine. If you are heading out for a walk, you'll get a splendid breakfast, too.

Pros: Owners were great hosts . Excellent food and wine with local ingredients.
Cons: Nothing - wished we had stayed longer

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old place lovingly restored in a small town in a peaceful mountain setting. Fantastic hosts Marjet and Raul made us feel so welcome we wished we could have stayed longer than one night. Marjet also cooked us a delicious dinner which we enjoyed with local wine, and the breakfast was lovely too. I would love to come back to Vina y Rosales, great place to do some hiking or just sit and enjoy the mountain air.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Marjet and Raul were the most fantastic hosts and have made an exceptional job of sympathetically restoring their 300 year old house. It's full of charm, character and quirkiness. The evening meals were absolutely delicious with produce from their own garden. I am so glad we had the opportunity to stay here and enjoy the amazing views and walks. We were made to feel so very welcome and at home that we were sorry to leave. Thank you Marjet and Raul.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hotel style.
Cons: Free parking near hotel only 21-9.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is highly recommended with excellent food, wine selection and service. The superior room is very nice and newly refurbished with a view over the garden and swimming pool area.
Cons: Lot's of dogs with guests, despite it says clearly on a big sign in the garden that dogs (animals) were not not allowed in the swimming pool area nor in any of the hotel facilities. There were dogs all over the place.
6.8 Good
Pros: Breakfast was nicely served and there was a good choice.
Cons: Reception was not staffed most of the time. Untidiness on one side of the entrance hall.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is the only actual hotel in Berja. But fortunately it is a good one. Great value for money for large and spacious rooms which are very comfortable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant location. Quiet and friendly.
Cons: Breakfast was poor.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very obliging, and spoke good English.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A really posh hotel with an interesting history. Beautifully presented and decorated to a high standard. The owners are genuinely lovely people that have got the balance right between being friendly/chatty and giving you space /tranquility. This hotel will be my preferred "Go To" address next time I'm in Berja.
Cons: The physical location of the hotel is rich in local history but there is nothing on the lobby walls or in the rooms to share the story of the building and location. The one and only problem with the hotel is the lack of parking ... the owners need to do a deal with the communidad or an adjacent landowner to get some safe parking ... then this hotel would richly deserve a "Hidden Gem" award.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Villa de Laujar in Laujar de Andarax, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of City Hall and Convent of San Pascual Bailon. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location in foothills of the Alpujarras excellent and easy to find now big signs put up Studio better than expected .bed n pillows comfy . bathroom with bath n shower modern n water hot . big sunny terrace had quite dense foliage round hence no view, but it had small table and chairs. No privacy from close neighbours ,but ours weren't there - maybe a fence panel would make it better and a sunbed...Small fridge was a bonus,.Tv only had basic Spanish. The communal pool was lovely ,but chilly -take your own pool towels and toiletries. reception was efficient , restaurant staff worked hard.
Cons: THE FOOD ! it was basic and boring, My choice of fruit appeared as an unripe pear just plonked on the plate -totally inedible and almost laughable......They have a captive clientele as no other food nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel, very relaxing set in a beautiful location. The seperation of the acommodation from the body of the hotel is a nice feature that seperates the bussle from the rooms. The village of Laujar is very sleepy with some lovely view points and nice buildings.
Cons: nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view this place offers are spectacular. The location has a beautiful pool and a great garden where you can walk. It has a couple of mini apartments and each guest gets one. You have everything you need at your disposal!
Cons: You'll need a car to get here, yet this is obvious - since it's in a natural reservations the location. Can't think of anything that we didn't like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel and rooms are beautiful, the staff are extremely helpful and kind, excellent value for money. The only point for the hotel to consider is giving guests 'space' as the walls are thin x
Cons: There were only 2 other guests last night but we were placed in adjacent rooms meaning that we could hear our neighbours clearly through the walls! Next time, please put guests a little further apart x
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Spacy rooms, good standard breakfast although no scrambled eggs nor bacon, Nice swimming pool / area. Very nice and professional reception personnel.
Cons: Mattresses of the beds were very poor and caused back-pain
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Food at restaurant on dinner and lunch was very good!! Good service and quality food. Facilities good, tennis court and pool lovely.
Cons: Breakfast could be improved in terms of quality, especially coffee ! The area is surrended by fruit's trees, no orange juice available.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: wonderful location, great comfort for the price
Cons: Swimming pool was closed but was not mentioned on your page.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Garden
Cons: I did not have chance to decided how to pay. Hotel used my registered in booking.com credit card not ask me before.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is great with some lovely views but it’s a fair walk into town and a steep and unlit walk back.
Cons: Pool was closed and we weren’t notified at time of booking. The hotel also chose to not open the restaurant without clearly communicating this to us in advance and out of season there is not a lot else open. The rooms are a nice size but some furniture on the terrace would be good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The entire hotel is very nice
Cons: Swimming pool closed.
El Domingo en el Valle - Fondón - Building

8.7 Excellent (56 reviews)
6.3 Good
Pros: We got a bigger apartment than we had booked. It was spacious and well equipped.
Cons: The host never got back to us even though I'd written our arrival time when booking and also tried to contact him by text and via Whatsapp. To our luck the caretaker arrived at the same time as us and he was very helpful even though he hadn't been informed of our arrival. The shower head wall mount was broken and it would have been nice with wifi

Pros: Great position in the heart of the village, close to bars and restaurants and spotlessly clean. absolutely charming owner (Rosario).

Pros: Rosario is a very nice lady. She gave us a great room with a balcony and a good view. Free tea and coffee on offer. Spacious room and en suite. Pros: The atmosphere was special. The nature, stars and the voices of animals. The hosts were so kind and caring and did everything for us.
Cons: -
9.5 Excellent
Pros: One very caring, fun, beautiful lady makes this place a standout. Not so easy to find after dark, so Mary stood on the entrance to the driveway with a light to wave us in. She then prepared one of her marvellous, generous meals and her consideration throughout our 2 night stay and big, little extras made this a special place. Location only fine with a car but that means it’s peaceful. We had a spacious, comfortable suite with a terrace and rural views. There’s a grand indoor leisure and dining setting or rustic outdoor patio. Tea, coffee & biscuits in our room, so unusual in Spain. And I just have to mention the great entertainment value of the 3 little dog-musketeers!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Mary and John were so friendly and helpful they made our stay perfect !
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Mary....she is a wonderful host. This place is run by a British couple that realy cares about what they are doing.

8.3 Excellent (90 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Casa Rural Entresierras in Beires, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Bodega Fuente Victoria and City Hall.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Meal cooked for me on my arrival. Despite language problems no issues . Instant hot water in room rathe than having to wait to drain off cold.
Cons: No bed side table or lamp.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location.
Cons: When I reached the hotel the room was extremely cold. I told that at the reception and they put the heating on. It resulted that hot water thermostat in my bathroom was off, it was even unplugged. The woman who let me in connected the thermostat and told me that I had to wait a quarter of an hour to have hot water. I could not wait and left the hotel for dinner. When I came back late at night the heating was off, the room was so cold that I had to sleep with my clothes on. In the morning when I was willing to take a shower I realized that there was no hot water. Only after taking a (terribly unpleasant!) shower with cold water I became aware that the reason there was no hot water is that someone had unplugged the thermostat when I was absent! I was shocked. If the hotel prefers saving on heating or hot water it must be announced on their webpage as, believe me, the room temperature when it is +5 Celsius outside is not much higher inside and the cold water shower in a cold bathroom is awful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place and very pet friendly. Staff is excellent.
Cons: It is a bit noisy at night until the restaurant/bar closes, around 10:00 pm.
7.5 Good
Pros: Quirky " Casa" in the mountains. Welcoming. Great for walking. The clean rooms were basic but comfy. The manageress did everything from check-in to cook! She was very friendly and willing to explain about fruits etc grown in the area. Although there is no parking on site, the parking by the church only 50 metres away is well lit and safe.
Cons: We stayed in November and the bedrooms and lounge were cold. There was no form of heating. Fine if you are the hardy type but otherwise it may be better to restrict visits to the summer months. The restaurant was part of the bar and consisted of 4 small tables, shared with the locals shelling nuts. The food was very limited and only value for money because there was nowhere else.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The staff were very helpful and polite.
Cons: No AC or even a fan makes for a very uncomfortable sweaty night. I had to open the windows to try to get a Little air into the room but this also let in all of the flies. There was a Fiesta in the village so I could accept the noise which lasted until 6 am and with the windows open was obviously very loud. The fiesta noise was actually irrelevant as the noise from downstairs in the bar and kitchen and outside area will keep you awake anyway. The hotel noise appeared to be from the staff cleaning and talking, this went on to 0230am. There is nowhere to park near the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location. Room was bright, airy and super clean. We booked with a mountain view which was worth the extra 10 Euro a night.
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice place, simple equipped, but all hiker may need. Owner was very helpful.
Cons: At corridor there were a bit of smoke from downstairs smoking. Heating was switched on upon request.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The casa rural was very welcoming and we sat with the owner on the terrace for some hours. The rooms were all very clean and comfortable. A lot of thought has gone into decorating this new business venture in the beautiful Alpujarra mountains. It is also only one hour away from the beaches of Almeria.

Pros: Warm welcome from the owner and exceptional meal
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Casa Cueva is a lovely place to stay. Lorena at Hostal Tinao made sure everything was perfect and that we were happy. The patios have gorgeous views; the pedestrian street is quiet; the beds are comfortable; and the pleasure of walking in Gerald Brenan’s footsteps is a special treat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was lovely, we arrived late from a hike, she prepared a meal and we had a Great time!
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A very clean and decent place to stay Great welcome from Lauranne.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner sent me a message to see what time I would be there and if I would like dinner, how great is that. She met me at the front door and stored my bike and the room was great. Went up for a cocktail in the bar and had an amazing dinner. Would go back in a second.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find nice quiet village good meals available
Cons: Nothing
4.3 Okay
Pros: Clean, pretty good location
Cons: The stairs inside are unsafe and steep, no railings. The front door is often locked during the day, no buzzer, the back door is not safely accessible. Once I made my suggestions to the hostess, she turned rude and insulting. I would not recommend this property to anyone.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect, beautifull landscape. Hostess is Irish so communication in English was perfect! Food from the restaurant was delicious too!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Being the only person there, the personal attention to my requirements, in particular, what and when I wanted to eat. Very friendly and big dog. Bus stopped right outside.
Cons: nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: El Tinao is a great value for money location, with a lovely host. The rooms have all the basics you need and there is a bar upstairs to meet the locals. I enjoyed my stay.
Cons: The place is not always perfectly polished, but I liked that. It gives the place character.

Pros: Great hotel and good value for money! We travelled with motorbike around the Alpujarra and my friend and I were very pleased with the hotel. The beds were excellent and the pillows even better, room very clean and warm. The breakfast was included and they had nice selection of cold cuts, cheese, cereals, juices, fruits, home made cake and jam, homemade quince.... honestly for 60 euro a night including breakfast you can’t get it better! The receptionist was very pleasant and the owner, an old Spanish man gave us some routes through off-road trails we wouldn’t find it otherwise! We crossed the Alpujarra at 2000 meters off-road in the most amazing trail you can imgine... and all thanks to him!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful location and friendly family staff. Good breakfast. We were travelling with a large dog which was ok with the staff and we were given a room with large balcony overlooking the olive orchard, it was prefect for the dog. We had a very comfortable room and it was spotlessly clean.
