Pros: Everything was wonderful, staff was friendly, updated, clean. Everything you could possibly need at one resort.
Cons: No see um bugs
Island Inn overlooks white-sand beaches on Sanibel Island in the Gulf of Mexico. The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum is a 5-minute drive, as is J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, home to river otters, alligators, turtles, and mangroves.
Beautiful grounds. Lots of families there- not crowded at all. Close proximity to ocean. Complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas stored close to beach - so they don't have to be dragged far. ( We've had to pay to use these things at other FL resorts) Great local restaurants close by. Can't wait to go back ! Also, no pets are allowed- which I appreciate. Plenty of other pet friendly places on the island.
Pros: Location to the ocean and the wide variety of vegetation - beautiful grounds!
Cons: It was great- just wished we had selected a room closer to the ocean- not their fault, ours.
Situated by the ocean, Sanibel Moorings Condo Resort is a great choice for a stay in Sanibel. Guests can take a dip in one of 2 outdoor pools or visit the fitness center for a workout. There are 2 outdoor tennis courts, a children's pool, and in-room conveniences like kitchens and sofa beds.
Enjoy your visit to Sanibel with a stay at Sanibel Siesta on the Beach. You can go for a morning swim at the outdoor pool and visit the outdoor tennis court for a workout. Condos feature bonuses like kitchens and sofa beds, along with furnished balconies and living rooms.
Pros: Very spacious rooms! Comfortable beds. Full kitchen.
Cons: We had a private patio, but you were not allowed to smoke on it. You had to walk all the way to the small picnic table that offers no covering from the weather.
Pros: Close to the beach, quiet, clean, peaceful
Pros: Very clean and a great location to the beach, you can't see the ocean from here but it is a very short walk to it.
Cons: Our room was super BASIC very old, could use some updated items and paint, It was very clean, and great service on clean daily towels.
Pros: The condo was decorated gorgeously. Apparently remodeled recently with high end finishes (marble counters, wainscoting, glass shower wall, stylish decor, etc). The place was very clean and about a 100 yard walk to the beach! Very well appointed.
Pros: I liked that we could rent bikes from the hotel, I didn't know that from other trips.
Cons: The condo we rented needed some more supplies. The hotel could use more grills and perhaps more umbrella tables or comfortable chairs that can be moved around the grounds.
Pros: Beautiful room(s). Surprised with room 55C. This room was more like a mini condo that colony inn rents out for the actual owners. wished we had booked two nights instead of one.
Cons: No dislikes for this room.however many other rooms are smaller I heard.
Super close to beach
Pros: Huge room very clean older hotel
Pros: Location was good for a non-beachfront motel.
Cons: The bedroom had a horrible mildew smell and the shower curtain was moldy. The bedspread had blood stain on it and was not as clean as should have been.
The motel was great. The staff were very nice. The rooms were very clean. Overall we had a great stay and would stay again. Highly recommended.
Cons: The only thing we did not like was a lack of beach front view. But, it is more than likely our fault and we probably should have read the description more thoroughly when booking.
Overall the one bedroom at Colony Resort was great. The staff was accomodating. Very close to the East side of Sanibel Island.
Pros: Colony Resort had enough space for my family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids). It was separated from the living room & kitchen.
Cons: This is minor. Enough though the space was enough, the layout was a little weird. The front door was connected to the bedroom. They should have switch the living room with the bedroom. Also the swimming pool was a bit small.
Would recommend it with my eyes shut for big families. Has a great kitchen with all the utensils, plates and pots for you. Small but big enough pool. Super comfy beds and sofa bed....will be going back soon, God willing.
Pros: We had a great time in this hotel, beach was right there, a few steps. Hotel is on a quiet street but just a short drive to nice restaurants and grocery stores. Best of all this hotel had a kitchen which was very convenient for us with 8 teens.
we had everything a fully functional home has right in the room all utinsils, machines ice .
Pros: all of the above

Pros: Saff had a great attitude and was very helpful, location was excelent
Cons: Needs better seating , better beds. Could use updated paint in room. Needs computer station in office for printing boarding passes, directions etc...Back grass area could be better utilized possibly with a gazebo type area , seating and a barbeque area.
Enjoy your visit to Sanibel with a stay at Kona Kai Motel. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, and hiking/biking trails and kayaking are nearby. A terrace and a garden are offered, and rooms have conveniences like refrigerators and microwaves.
Cons: The air conditioner didn't work. I spent 1200 in three days but had no air the last night. They credited me $60. Lol

Pros: The view and the closeness to the beach was awesome. The room in the living area was clean.
Cons: The glasses and silverware were extremely dirty. Brown spots and stains on glasses. Manager tried to charge $200 (more than room) for chocolate on bedspread. Ramos called and said we were disgusting and nasty people. Not enough characters to tell all.
When visiting Sanibel, Shalimar Cottages and Motel is a great choice to consider. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, and hiking/biking trails, kayaking, and parasailing are nearby. Rooms feature bonuses like kitchens and washers/dryers, along with DVD players and room service.
Pros: The room was updated and clean. The inn is located in a central location on the island so we didn't have a far drive to places on either end of the island. It was also nice being on the water. Not much shells on this access spot; would recommend Bowmans beach for that. There was lots of parking so did not have any issues finding a space.
Cons: Although updated with granite countertops, the bathroom was tiny and hard to maneuver in; and I am a petite woman. It would have been nice if beach chairs and umbrellas were included like most of the other hotels.
Pros: The room was well appointed, very clean and updated. Had everything we needed, was like an efficiency apartment. Location across the street from the beach was great. Though it was too far from downtown for my wife to walk, she has very bad knees.
Cons: Bed was very uncomfortable. Woke up with very sore and stiff back. When we checked out the front desk said the room had a brand new mattress. I doubt that. The person said we should have said something earlier, they would've gotten us another mattress. I had no idea they would do that.
Pros: The location was great with a beautiful view. Loved being close to the beach and having a short drive to the shops and restaurants. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well.
Cons: The parking wasn't very accommodating. The lot is gravel so the parking spaces aren't marked. The residents would take too much space up, so that would leave a lot less parking places. There were several times we would have to park on the other side of the hotel. The shower door wouldn't stay shut and water would get on the bathroom floor.
Cons: Did not clean room very well. Leftover coffee from AM was left in pot and coffee cups were never washed out just left in bed area. The coffeemaker is located in the bathroom on the small sink counter! Yuk! Forgot to empty trash cans.
Beds were obviously made in a rush. This place is definitely in need of some updating, both inside and out!!
Pros: Secluded beach front location. Well maintained for an older resort. The hotel is arranged so that most rooms have a view of the gulf. On site restaurant was very good.
Pros: Great location on the beach.
Cons: Small room and very small bathroom 1 person only. Room had light outside door that shine in the room.
Pros: Room was nice. Kitchenette was well supplied. View was breathtaking. bathroom counter top was spacious. Adored our screened-in balcony with chairs and table--it even has little hooks to hang out your wet bathing suit! Tons of hangers in the closet was really helpful. Room safe was very helpful to put wallets away when going to the beach. Pool was lovely. Pool bar was great for a drink or a snack. Plenty of pool towels for poolside or oceanside use. Could inexpensively rent umbrella and chairs for beach use. Business center let me get my boarding passes printed easily. Front desk was very nice and always helpful. Plenty of parking near our room.
Cons: We did have one roach in our room, but front desk had spray and it's the only negative issue we had.. Cleaning team was mediocre. They did an okay job but not a terrific job.
Pros: Quiet and relaxing setting, Tiled room made it for a clean stay without the worries of carpet stains or oders.
Updated bathroom is nice.
The refrigerator and microwave are a plus for snack packing.
Flat screen Television has a clear picture.
Very informative and friendly staff.

The Inn is a casual, gulf front resort on the world famous white sand shelling beach, where you can walk for miles at the quiet end of the island beach. Pros: Condo could use an upgrade. Bathroom very small. Carpet in poor condition.
Pros: i loved Danny! He was so awesome! Did everything he could to make our stay great! Thanks!
Cons: It was being renovated but that means it will just be better later
Pros: Chose this location as it was very close to the beach where we were married and wanted to return to that spot with little to no difficulty.

Pros: Resort was not a big fancy place, but was smaller and quieter which was perfect for myself and teenage daughter! There was a mix of all types of guests from young couples, to families and retired couples. Everything you needed was right there at the resort or a short bike ride away. We loved the availability to take out a bike any time during the day. The resort staff were friendly and always helpful. The beach was clean and full of shells, just beautiful! The pool was also relaxing when the beach got too warm. It was a nice size with plenty of chairs and a pool side bar and small cafe. We loved the trip and resort and can't wait to take the whole family back!
Cons: The only negative was that if the wind was above 35 mph we couldn't use umbrellas on the beach and there was limited shade at the pool.
Pros: The staff were amazing, they endured we had everything we needed
Pros: location and staff
Cons: leaky air conditioner....water all over the balcony
slow-draining sink in the bathroom
sand fleas in the bed
maid cleaned the coffee cups with her bare hands...no gloves....no soap...
Pros: Love, love, love Sanibel Island and Sanibel Inn. Everybody was very helpful. Front desk staff especially Eric was welcoming and helpful. I would definitely go back again and stay here.
Cons: facilities old, cockroaches in my room!!!!
Pros: It's a nice hotel in a great location - and the front desk staff were fantastic.
Cons: Hate to go to a really nice hotel and in the room have only plastic cups wrapped in plastic for water, or to drink my coffee in a flimsy paper cup in my room.
Pros: Very clean room. Staff was very friendly. Loved that to use bicycle, umbrella and kayaks did not cost us additional money. Restaurant on premise was very good food and friendly staff. Great value for your money. Easy to get find the hotel.

Pros: It was near the Community House where we worked at the shell show 3days. Easy to drive to.
Cons: Toilet too Low without any grab bars. Not enough shelf space in bathroom. No small packets of shampoo. Having to take care of putting towels in container, then having to get clean ones out for use the next day. We used the coffee pot and coffee was not replaced for the next day. TV control was lousy. No list of channels we could get on TV. Had to ask for a hair dryer. We were not informed that we had to ask. The on and off switches on the lamps. Had trouble reaching down to find the switch that was on the wire. Had to ask for someone to come in to make beds, but they never emptied the trash cans.
Pros: We stay at the Anchor Inn every time we come to Sanibel Island. We absolutely love it there. Friendly staff, pet friendly. I stayed there with my daughter and 2 dachshunds. Good value for your money. They bend over backwards to make sure we are comfortable during our stay. We stayed for a week this time. Discovered the washer and dryer for us to use also! That was a big plus! Nice little area to wash your seashells and a pool also! Horseshoes, bikes are all available too! Great place to stay. Can't wait to go back!
Pros: The shuffle board game because we had never played it before.
Cons: The ants on the sink and table. Tiny shower that made me feel like I was back k at my locker room in high school.
Pros: We stayed in one of the A-frame cottages -- LOVED it! Totally cute and roomy. Everyone felt instantly at home, even our dog! With the full kitchen we only went out to eat once, which saved money. The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. The pool was heated to a nice temperature -- even I got in it, and I'm a wuss if it's even a little bit cool. It was actually warm. Beaches are within driving distance of about five minutes. We rented a fishing pole and had a blast. Great family memories and I hope we can make Anchor Inn & Cottages an annual family getaway.
Cons: Although the cottage was pretty clean and tidy, it could have been a bit more clean. There were what looked to be dead bugs on top of the cabinets, which are clearly visible from the loft bedroom. Also, the ashtray outside on the railing of the loft bedroom's porch was full of cigarette butts.
Enjoy your visit to Sanibel with a stay at Anchor Inn and Cottages. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, and hiking/biking trails, kayaking, and parasailing are nearby. Furnished patios, flat-screen TVs, and free WiFi are offered in all rooms.
Pros: I actually picked on line because it had tile floored rooms available, but was pleasantly surprised for more than one reason. The price was excellent, actually the cleanest place I've stayed so far in Sanibel, lovely grounds - enjoyed lounging and reading in the hammock under the palms, and very short walk to the beach. The staff was very helpful also. I'd definitely stay here again.
Cons: Mosquitoes. Lots of mosquitoes
Pros: Just very peaceful and quiet. Everybody went out of their way to make my stay as pleasant as can be, and I think them for it.
Pros: Great location
Beautiful grounds that have a lot of potential if properly maintained
Cons: Poorly maintained.
Ponds are all neglected.
Air conditioning is old and very noisy.
Interior needs updating and maintenance.
"24 hour Coffee" that's cold most of the time.
This hotel would be awesome if it was updated and well maintained.
Pros: Clean, friendly and close to the beach.
Cons: The restaurant and gift shop were very pricey so we chose to not make use of them. The poolside bar had fabulous cocktails and great burgers that we enjoyed a lot.

After a long day collecting shells, kayaking or bird watching, nothing beats kicking back at the Tiki Bar for a late afternoon cocktail.
Pros: We like all about, location, room, amenities ...
Cons: If you are not a independent person, this hotel it's not for you... it's no one around the hotel to ask, like others hotels were basically you need to say "hello" to everyone were you move around the propriety, it's more the feeling of renting an apartment. But this don't bother me it all, to me.
Pros: Found great shells on the beach right out front. Awesome pool. Free bikes and kayaks. They set up chairs and umbrellas every morning. Love the beds and having a large fridge and oven in room. Very nice staff. Nice spot on the island.
Pros: I did like the closeness to beach, also that all the amenities were included like the use of bikes, kayak, paddleboard and also a lot of beach umbrellas and chairs on the beach. Very quiet place to stay.
Cons: The staff were a lit of bit rude. We were there early at12 and chech in was at 4pm and check out at 11, they did nothing to try to gave us a room earlier we wait for our room until 2pm.
Pros: The chairs and umbrellas on the beach where great! Always out on time! The use of their bikes was great, we used then every day! The beach was beautiful and very clean!
Cons: Was disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. Upon arrival our door trim was broken, dust stuck to trim and hair from another guest. Food stuck on "clean" silverware in drawer. Walls need to be painted, dirty walls, chipped paint, mildew on curtains and a musty smell. The bikes needed some matinees, oil the squeaky parts and fix the broken baskets. Only one bike with a basket and it was broken. Not sure if we would stay again. The price would have to be quite a bit less than we paid. Stayed in many supper 8 and other Cheeper places that where much nicer.
Pros: Location, view, pool, beach, facilities, extras
Cons: Our short stay
Pros: Beautiful grounds. Close to the beach.
Cons: The room was uncomfortable, air noisy, TV did not work well

Pros: Great location! Steps from the beach...hotel has an old Florida feel which was very nice.Staff was great, very helpful during check in (room was ready well ahead of time) and gave great suggestions on where to dine.
Cons: Parking can be limited...it didn't cause a problem...but could be an issue....other than that it was a great stay!
Pros: Good location, quiet
Cons: Kind of overpriced, cottage had no screened area, nothing fabulous
Pros: Proximity to beach, personalized attention from owners.
Beach was fabulous
Pros: Location & Staff
Cons: Smell of the cottage
Tropical Winds Motel & Cottages is a great choice for a stay in Sanibel. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool or take advantage of nearby kayaking. Rooms feature kitchens and free WiFi.
Pros: My husband and I got married on Sanibel Island 7 years ago. We were in Florida with our kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc and my husband and I thought, why not take a night and a day and go back for a visit to our favorite place. We found Waterside Inn online and the price and location was perfect! When we arrived, the staff at the front dest/office were WONDERFUL! The beach was right there-just down the steps from our room. We only got a hotel room but, next year we will hopefully get one of the idyllic looking cottages. Needless to say, we will be back.
Pros: The staff was amazing, so accommodating and there for you when needed. Clean, Cozy Beachy rooms. was paradise :)
Pros: Location. On the beach. Seconds from the sand and water. It was clean, except things are worn and a bit outdated.
Cons: Bit old and ever so slightly musty. Shows it's age in the cracked cabinets and creaky sliding doors.
