Built in the 1920's by a New York surgeon for use as a summer estate, Applegate is set amid towering pines and manicured lawns. Rose gardens, perennial beds, and mature apple trees cover the six acre property. A circular drive leads to the two-story pillared Georgian colonial where, inside, you will find Applegate tastefully decorated with oriental carpets, fine antiques, and quality reproductions. Its comfortable elegance invites you in. The inn is centrally air conditioned with individual room controls. The guest pantry is always available with its home baked goods and other treats. There is a refrigerator and a microwave as well. Each evening, wine and cheese are offered to guests in the library/living room, complete with a baby grand piano and cozy fireplace. There is also a sun parlor game/TV room with a gas fireplace, flat screen TV, DVD player, game table and a small video library. A candlelit gourmet breakfast with varying hot entrees and a bountiful buffet is served in the dining room in front of the fireplace, where candles flicker from the polished antique silver candelabras that are set on each table. Classical music fills the air while breakfast is elegantly served on antique bone china with crystal stemware. Follow breakfast with a stroll through the flower-filled gardens, play a round of tennis or golf, or take a dip in the heated pool, and then enjoy the best in cultural and recreational activities in all seasons.
