This is a great B&B. I highly recommend it. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was really lovely. Full Irish-- lots of fresh fruit, homemade scones, Irish bacon, eggs, and more. Best of all the coffee was strong. Great gardens. No.
The proprietor was very friendly and helpful and she helped us book a tour of the beautiful surrounding area with a local family. The house itself was beautiful- the best B&B we found in our travels through Ireland.
Made very welcome by the owners. The food was the best I ever experianced in a hotel. Will stay again on next trip to West Clare.
It was very comfortable and quite. Mrs. Sheedy went out of her way ,helping us plan our trip to the Aran Island.
We spent three nights in July 2010 and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Martina and John have a wonderful establishment. Our room was exceeding comfortable and clean. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and varied ( I want the pea soup recipe! ) The staff were friendly and very helpful. It was nice to relax by a peat fire at the end of a day of exploring Clare County. Not only would we recommend it to others but we anticipate returning for a longer stay. I can honestly say that in years of travels, I have never enjoyed a stay as much as this.
beautifully appointed-fantastic food (locally sourced) lighting could be a bit better -by bedside
Quiet elegance, superb restaurant, welcoming owner.
Massive nice room. Friendly staff. Lovely supper and breakfast.
The food was fantastic and we could not have eaten there every night very large portions Possibly menu could have been changed
The lady proprietor was very welcoming. The food was excellent and the room a real surprise: large and comfortable.
The hotel is lovely. The breakfasts were scrumptious. The owner was very available and helpful.
Room service charg for breckfast $9 was a bit high
Clean, up-to-date facilities in nicely decorated rooms.
It was a last minute choice at a very reasonable price, located conveniently close to town The house smelled of fat frying, the bed was very uncomfortable and the heating in the bedroom and bathroom went off at 10pm and did not even come on again next morning - quite cold and unwelcoming.
I loved the colouring of the room. It gave it a less standard hotel room feel. I also loved the breakfast. The salmon option is not offered everywhere Maybe it is hard to clean the rooms properly because there is so much stuff in there? The room was a bit chilly and I did not know how to turn up the heating. There was no one downstairs when I wanted to ask and there was no bell or anything like it.
I was very pleased with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would go there again.
The room was beautifully prepared with a lot of extra touches that made the stay much more pleasurable. It is a bit far from the town centre but there are plenty of taxis available.
good atmosphere no
as soon as i entered my room the smell of must was bad would never stay in that hotel again also no windows in room
It was near the cliffs of Moher There was absolutely no facilities. When we checked in the first thing we where told was that the bar and restaurant was closed (one of reasons chose here). Town and hotel was like a ghost town. We where woken by a continously ringing phone to ask us we we where having breakfast although we had already been told about the times and had chosen to have a lie in instead.
Good location and bar. Although I know the price was hiked up due to the festival, I still found it steep. The breakfast the next morning would not have satisified a pidgeon.
location very central could be very noisy and definately rooms need a upgrade
Sightseeing. Listening to traditional Irish music in Lisdoonvarna. Eating out at other venuesThe hotel bedroom was comfortable. The breakfast was adequate. No exterior lighting when we returned late at night Not properly signposted Hotel seemed mostly empty and 'dead'. Used to selecting own cereals fruit and yogurt for breakfas even in B and Bs . I think 3 cereals offered no fruit no yogurt..
very unassuming staff and hotel. Was left to my own devices. Breakfast staff were very attentive. Great value for money.
great hospitality..and friendliness
Not alot really, had been on a tour of Ireland and the Burren Castle ended up being the most expensive hotel that we stayed in and was certainly not value for money, very dated, it smelled and reminded us of Fawlty Towers. We even contemplated leaving straight away. Very dated, not worth the price paid, too far from the town.
The 'castle hotel' is actually a hotel with fake little medieval towers... Only they're blue and only cats could climb on them. Fittingly, the CCTV cameras are patrolling on those little turrets but the whole thing is kitsch. What a laugh we had when we arrived. Inside is comfy if a little impersonal, staff was OK. Could hear the ventilation of the bathroom from the bedroom even door closed.
Peace and privacy, good service from staff.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Wild Honey Inn, the food was delicious, staff were very friendly and efficient and the location was wonderful for walking in the Burren.
Great food and everyone very friendly at the hotel.
I loved the friendly family run hotel atmosphere. The staff were extremely helpful, and gave lots of tourist advice nd had a good supply of maps, brochures etc.. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the beds comfortable. The food was of excellent quality, seasonal and locally sourced. It was a very relaxing calm environment.
Good points....clean, and very friendly staff, good quality food.Less good points....pokey room, parking on the road. The food looked great if you like chicken or steak, but there are few non-meat options. Asked for mushrooms instead of bacon, sausage, and black pudding etc and got served garlic mushrooms for breakfast. Room size. Limited menu options for evening meal and breakfast.Parking on the road only.
The food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and helpful
We were made to feel very welcome in this friendly family run hotel, the rooms were very clean, good food, excellent music and nothing was too much trouble. Our stay in Clare was made memorable by the staff and hospitality of this establishment.
Great location for the matchmaking festival. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are big and very clean. Breakfast was included and was excellent. The Hotel runs music and dancing nights which are one of the main reasons why people come to Lisdoonvarna. However, if you are not travelling there for this reason you may find the place a bit noisy.
great value for money , friendly staff and very friendly couple who run the hotel, clean and comfortable great location would like to return. Bar closed early.
Staff very friendly. Meals very good . Catered for ceolics which is very hard to find in Ireland. Entertainment at night was quiet good. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.
The Music, Breakfast
Kindness and support from hotel staff. No.
Great location,, good atmosphere, very friendly people, great entertainment ,good price overall good value for money Bar closed very early there is no residance bar.
Great Irish hospitality; very clean and comfortable; great location
the hospitality of the owners was excellent, very accomodating, couldn't have been more helpful (even when we slept in for breakfast, we still ate late!)!!
It was a very friendly, family run hotel. The food was of excellent quality and good value. Our room was more than adequate for our stay. We only stayed one night but wished were staying longer. We would definately recommend this hotel to family and friends.
good location ,friendly staff
the location of the hotel
The location is excellent, right in the middle of the town.
I like the location as i was ther e for the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking festival
Value for money at the rate we paid and great locationfor a weekend in the tear. Supervisor in breakfast room was very offensive in speaking to her colleague
Only spent one night there, but the hosts were amazing! Arrived very early and asked for a spot to leave our luggage. They were nice enough to let us go straight to our room! Just next to two great pubs and a few minute walk to shops and a few minutes more to the dock. Lovely town, easy to find, and great breakfast. Super nice staff...I could go on. Definitely going to visit them again! The only negative is that we only had one night there. Nothing bad to say about the place.
Amazing staff.Freindly and helpful, they really put you at your ease and made you feel at home
from the greeting to departure a sense of quiet effeciency. room was little warm when heating came on.......but otherwise perfect.
There are several B&B nearby, but this offers a nice alternative. Connected to a restaurant and pub and with a nice lobby area, good alternative if the weather isn't good. Not quite walking distance to other pubs, but a very short drive on a very quite road, these are still good options.
Very clean and central to the Burren Bit pricey
The hotel looked very bland from the outside and it was out of characterwith the traditional village surroundings. The interior, however was very classy and well designed and the room was large and elegant.
the breakfast was tasty!!! no
Best hotel we stayed in Ireland. Staff were great, hotel clean and very well maintained.
Hospitality and friendliness of staff and lovely hotel.
The Hotel Doolin is a new and trendy hotel. It is fairly new and tries to use a green approach to doing things. Although its a fairly new property the hotel does have a few downsides. We had a problem the first night we stayed there with the shower drain. Basically it wouldn't drain. To make a long story short we switch rooms for our second night and when we got in there the sink wouldn't drain. This was a minor inconvenience. However my thought is this: With the hotel being fairly new I would think it would be better maintained. You can't exactly clean a sink or shower without running the water, so the cleaning staff should notice it and get it fixed before customers check in.
Had a less than ideal stay at a hotel in Belfast the night before and gave it a bad rating. Here's what I wrote at the end of that review: "The next night I stayed at the hotel Doolin near Galway. Walked to my room, given a newspaper, asked if I needed a wake up call, given a free drink at the bar, breakfast included, plenty of parking, a beautiful clean modern lobby and a wonderful bed, all for less money. The contrast was remarkable..." Absolute pleasure to stay at Doolin. Nothing. Fantastic place.
The location was perfect to visit such places as the cliffs of Mohar and the Burren.
Brand new hotel only 4 years old with pubs and restaurant close by. Modern decore, new furniture, quiet room and comfortable beds. We had a restful nights sleep. Gus O'Connor's pub is 5 - 10 minute walk away (though you will need to bring along a flash light if you choose not to drive there after dusk) Free Wifi was only available in the hotel lounge and unreachable from our room 2 rooms away from the lounge. Not sure if this was because we stayed during the off peak season (November) when the hotel was mostly vacant.
