This is a great B&B. I highly recommend it. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was really lovely. Full Irish-- lots of fresh fruit, homemade scones, Irish bacon, eggs, and more. Best of all the coffee was strong. Great gardens. No.
The proprietor was very friendly and helpful and she helped us book a tour of the beautiful surrounding area with a local family. The house itself was beautiful- the best B&B we found in our travels through Ireland.
The lady proprietor was very welcoming. The food was excellent and the room a real surprise: large and comfortable.
The food was fantastic and we could not have eaten there every night very large portions Possibly menu could have been changed
Massive nice room. Friendly staff. Lovely supper and breakfast.
Room service charg for breckfast $9 was a bit high
Quiet elegance, superb restaurant, welcoming owner.
It was very comfortable and quite. Mrs. Sheedy went out of her way ,helping us plan our trip to the Aran Island.
Made very welcome by the owners. The food was the best I ever experianced in a hotel. Will stay again on next trip to West Clare.
We spent three nights in July 2010 and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Martina and John have a wonderful establishment. Our room was exceeding comfortable and clean. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and varied ( I want the pea soup recipe! ) The staff were friendly and very helpful. It was nice to relax by a peat fire at the end of a day of exploring Clare County. Not only would we recommend it to others but we anticipate returning for a longer stay. I can honestly say that in years of travels, I have never enjoyed a stay as much as this.
beautifully appointed-fantastic food (locally sourced) lighting could be a bit better -by bedside
The hotel is lovely. The breakfasts were scrumptious. The owner was very available and helpful.
I was very pleased with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would go there again.
The room was beautifully prepared with a lot of extra touches that made the stay much more pleasurable. It is a bit far from the town centre but there are plenty of taxis available.
It was a last minute choice at a very reasonable price, located conveniently close to town The house smelled of fat frying, the bed was very uncomfortable and the heating in the bedroom and bathroom went off at 10pm and did not even come on again next morning - quite cold and unwelcoming.
Clean, up-to-date facilities in nicely decorated rooms.
I loved the colouring of the room. It gave it a less standard hotel room feel. I also loved the breakfast. The salmon option is not offered everywhere Maybe it is hard to clean the rooms properly because there is so much stuff in there? The room was a bit chilly and I did not know how to turn up the heating. There was no one downstairs when I wanted to ask and there was no bell or anything like it.
as soon as i entered my room the smell of must was bad would never stay in that hotel again also no windows in room
Good location and bar. Although I know the price was hiked up due to the festival, I still found it steep. The breakfast the next morning would not have satisified a pidgeon.
It was near the cliffs of Moher There was absolutely no facilities. When we checked in the first thing we where told was that the bar and restaurant was closed (one of reasons chose here). Town and hotel was like a ghost town. We where woken by a continously ringing phone to ask us we we where having breakfast although we had already been told about the times and had chosen to have a lie in instead.
location very central could be very noisy and definately rooms need a upgrade
good atmosphere no
very unassuming staff and hotel. Was left to my own devices. Breakfast staff were very attentive. Great value for money.
Peace and privacy, good service from staff.
Not alot really, had been on a tour of Ireland and the Burren Castle ended up being the most expensive hotel that we stayed in and was certainly not value for money, very dated, it smelled and reminded us of Fawlty Towers. We even contemplated leaving straight away. Very dated, not worth the price paid, too far from the town.
great hospitality..and friendliness
Sightseeing. Listening to traditional Irish music in Lisdoonvarna. Eating out at other venuesThe hotel bedroom was comfortable. The breakfast was adequate. No exterior lighting when we returned late at night Not properly signposted Hotel seemed mostly empty and 'dead'. Used to selecting own cereals fruit and yogurt for breakfas even in B and Bs . I think 3 cereals offered no fruit no yogurt..
I like the location as i was ther e for the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking festival
The location is excellent, right in the middle of the town.
the location of the hotel
Value for money at the rate we paid and great locationfor a weekend in the tear. Supervisor in breakfast room was very offensive in speaking to her colleague
good location ,friendly staff
Only spent one night there, but the hosts were amazing! Arrived very early and asked for a spot to leave our luggage. They were nice enough to let us go straight to our room! Just next to two great pubs and a few minute walk to shops and a few minutes more to the dock. Lovely town, easy to find, and great breakfast. Super nice staff...I could go on. Definitely going to visit them again! The only negative is that we only had one night there. Nothing bad to say about the place.
The Hotel Doolin is a new and trendy hotel. It is fairly new and tries to use a green approach to doing things. Although its a fairly new property the hotel does have a few downsides. We had a problem the first night we stayed there with the shower drain. Basically it wouldn't drain. To make a long story short we switch rooms for our second night and when we got in there the sink wouldn't drain. This was a minor inconvenience. However my thought is this: With the hotel being fairly new I would think it would be better maintained. You can't exactly clean a sink or shower without running the water, so the cleaning staff should notice it and get it fixed before customers check in.
The location was perfect to visit such places as the cliffs of Mohar and the Burren.
Amazing staff.Freindly and helpful, they really put you at your ease and made you feel at home
There are several B&B nearby, but this offers a nice alternative. Connected to a restaurant and pub and with a nice lobby area, good alternative if the weather isn't good. Not quite walking distance to other pubs, but a very short drive on a very quite road, these are still good options.
Brand new hotel only 4 years old with pubs and restaurant close by. Modern decore, new furniture, quiet room and comfortable beds. We had a restful nights sleep. Gus O'Connor's pub is 5 - 10 minute walk away (though you will need to bring along a flash light if you choose not to drive there after dusk) Free Wifi was only available in the hotel lounge and unreachable from our room 2 rooms away from the lounge. Not sure if this was because we stayed during the off peak season (November) when the hotel was mostly vacant.
Very clean and central to the Burren Bit pricey
The hotel looked very bland from the outside and it was out of characterwith the traditional village surroundings. The interior, however was very classy and well designed and the room was large and elegant.
Hospitality and friendliness of staff and lovely hotel.
the breakfast was tasty!!! no
Had a less than ideal stay at a hotel in Belfast the night before and gave it a bad rating. Here's what I wrote at the end of that review: "The next night I stayed at the hotel Doolin near Galway. Walked to my room, given a newspaper, asked if I needed a wake up call, given a free drink at the bar, breakfast included, plenty of parking, a beautiful clean modern lobby and a wonderful bed, all for less money. The contrast was remarkable..." Absolute pleasure to stay at Doolin. Nothing. Fantastic place.
from the greeting to departure a sense of quiet effeciency. room was little warm when heating came on.......but otherwise perfect.
Best hotel we stayed in Ireland. Staff were great, hotel clean and very well maintained.
There was so much! Super friendly staff, very clean, cozy, and comfy. Best breakfast we have had! We loved this B&B. Beautiful scenic views. Nothing at all!!
The location had a nice view. The signage and directions were really bad -very difficult to find. one of the owner's mother, who looked after us the second day, was uncaring, pushing us to select breakfast the night before, not letting me have toast and pushing us to leave early.
The view of the coast, the serenity, the beauty - the sense of another time, but with really good food
The environment, seclusion, the view, the old ruin in the garden
The evening dinner was wonderful. The warm welcome and family presence in the hotel were great! The barman added greatly to the Clare experience. It is a charming place with an old world feel. The scenery is fabulous and the pleasure of sitting in the hotel watching the sun go down was just wonderful. Easy access to the beach at Fanore, Walking in the Burren, Doolin and the Cliffs of Moher!
Breakfast, view, staff Outdated decor, spiders
The position and atmosphere. The instant coffee
the view of the countryside the room was cold & dampish
Good accomadation, pleasent and friendly staff, good facilities, good food and great view of the sea, nice location
Location, view, and the owners were great.
The breakfast was lovely There was blood on the window frame in the bathroom. There where cob webs on the ceiling over the bed. The main light had dust bunnies in each of the shades.
Great location and wonderful breakfast and dinner Did not like that the water was off in the morning for shower, but did come back on also the wake up call with the large birds on the roof out side our window at 7am after a late night dancing
Great location for Cliffs of Moher. Resturant was good, which is important as there is not too many options in the area.
The view from our room of the Cliffs of Moher and Innish Oirr Aran Island was gorgeous. Restaurant is good and staff is excellent and helpful. The views are beautiful but it is a good 10 to 15 minute walk to the town where the famous pubs are located. We walked home the first night and did not do that again as the road is mostly unlit and very narrow if you encounter a car. The hotel should have some kind of shuttle service for pub or restaurant patrons.
loved the views, the beakfast served to you arae thing these days and the character of the hotel
the fantastic view from the hotel room
