The hotel complex is located among vast vineyards of Margaux, 2kms from Margaux village itself. Rooms are spacious and well-equipped, spa is very relaxing and the staff is extremely courteous and helpful
Having come from the Chateau Mirambeau, which is a fabulous property, with wonderful rooms, a dedicated, highly trained, helpful staff, with impeccable attention to fine details, I was disappointed with the Relaix Margaux. The room appoints were not up to the clas of the hotel. The bed was too soft, with old blankets instead of a duvet. The Internet did not work for the first night there. My initial encounter with the staff was less than positive, although their helpfulness improved during the stay. The grounds are nice, and I enjoyed many things at the property; but I expected much more. The health club did not open until 9:00 a.m. The hallway lights did not go on timely. The hot water in the sink was not hot enough.
The staff was really extremely helpful, very polite and friendly. There was no soups or salads on the hotel menu...In either of the 2 restaurants...
It was beautifully situated, quiet and the staff were excellent. Not really designed for young children, though the staff go out of their way to try to help, and no place to really walk around the beautiful grounds.
Friendliness, excellent food abd comfort and suitability for my wife who uses awheelchair
I liked the size of the room and its tea making facility. I was very disappointed to learn that I had to pay 30 euros each time I wished to use the gym facility.(When I am staying in a hotel, I expect to be able to have free use of the fitness room.) Only the Brasserie restaurant was open (the gastronomic 'L'Isle Vincent' was closed for winter) and my husband and I were the only guests for most of our meal. (One other couple arrived as we were leaving.) Despite this, service was poor(we were left sitting at our table for too long after arrival so I had to go and ask for drinks and for our order to be taken!) The meal was very disappointing...overcooked expensive escalope de foie gras starter and equally overcooked red mullet fillets! I also found the reception unforthcoming and unhelpful.
location was the main thing for us as we were cycling. Comfortable stay and we were well rested afterwards. Spacious room
There was an extra charge for everything including internet usage! The restaurant which was open during our stay only offered a la carte dining and was quite expensive for a very informal setting.
Lovely hotel and golf course - gorgeous robes and slippers in the room - convenient for seeing the chateaus of Margaux
Perfect location for a few days in the Medoc. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Well maintained both inside and outside.
The rooms, the restaurant The breakfast was expensive and not very appealing
Nice country location, comfortable, good breakfast (17Euro).Dog friendly, free Wifi. You have to pay Euro 20 per person to use the swimming pool!
My wife enjoyed the spa treatment. The room had no view of the golf course. Had I been aware of this I would not have booked. I believe that either Booking.com or the hotel misled on this.
The beautiful situation and the splendid room; also the spa was perfect The restaurant personnel was not that guest friendly and sometimes it could be more professional. The price of menus and wine was to high.
Everyone was very nice and treated us like we owned the hotel. It was very pleasant. There were bees swarming the terrance so we had to go inside in the middle of eating our dinner.
Good location near the Bordeaux Lac, good restaurant, great breakfast, internet available for guest use, Swimming pool was a little too warm (would have prefered 2 degrees lower) to make it refreshing after a hot day. Otherwise, no negative comments at all.
i thought the restaurant on saturday evening was a disssappointment. My guests than they were able to handle with the staff onhand.
It was luxurious, friendly, and well organized. It was a real treat to stay there. The rooms and hotel decor were stunning.
great location -food excellent
Location room requires updating
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food we had at dinner in the evening was excellent and the breakfast buffet was also very good. The location was perfect being both peaceful and yet only a short walk into the town centre or to the quay for the ferry or pleasure boat cruises. The view from our room of the Gironde was delightful. A large fan had been provided but we did not need this as the temperature did not exceed 30°C during our stay. When we arrived we had to re-clean the wash basin, bidet and bath as these had not been cleaned properly. The room was small (we had to move the bed to sit at the desk and then move it back again to access the storage space for clothes).
the room, the building, piece, informations.... no bar, industrial surroundings
Big room with large balcony(Suite Garonne View)
This is a beautiful, small hotel. The rooms were very large, elegant, luxurious. Extremely quiet. Nice pool, and few rooms. Internet access was great. There were not enough employees the weekend we were there. The receptionist was also the breakfast chef, which made timely food prep and checkout challenging. The room service is okay, but again, the chef is usually at the reception desk. Location was okay, but traffic into Bordeaux was awful.
The loveliness of the castle, its locaton on the river, and the quietness. Also, the size of the rooms is a plus. Lisa was also a plus. She was so very helpful in information about the area and dining. The only thing I would say would be the fact of no dinner in the evening. A nice menue on the lovely veranda would really add to the comfort of the castle and the comfort of the customers who come in after being out all day, needing a simple but enjoyable meal by the river.
Room was well appointed. Very good bathroom. It did not have a restaurant.
Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Claire expecially - as a new member of staff she went out of her way to ensure that we had a wonderfull stay. Lovely setting. Lovely building. Lovely room. What more can we say. It would be nice if it had a bar and restaurant. The booking.com directions were totally worng and took us hours out of our way on the other side of the river!
It was so fantastic.
Staff was very nice. Although a bit expensive, the breakfast was very good. Loved the view of the river (don't look to the right though). Room were very spacious and spotlessly clean. Beds were a bit hard and made noise everytime one turned over. Location is a bit out of the way but every other review stated this too and they didn't lie. Be sure to have a car!!!
The Chateau was very exclusive, good as a romantic hideaway but not advisable if you want to have access to Bordeaux City Centre. It is a reasonable location if you have your own transport as it is halfway between the vineyards in Paulliac and St Emilion. I did not realise the chateau was so remote with nothing nearby at all. No restaurants close enough to go to, and no restaurant in the chateau. You have to rely on rooom service, or a 30 minute trip to Bordeaux City Centre for which you will sometimes be saddled with a 2-way taxi fare cost.
The Staff were polite and helpful, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast excellent, room service was unexpected surprise. The setting was elegant, refined and serene The difficulty of access at peak hour traffic
Its a real chateaux with nice atmosphere, fine cousine, garden, etc. restraunt not working on Sundays, but this is a good point to visit different restaurant in the vilages nearby.
The outlook of the castle and walking on the old stairs were romantic. Also, the breakfast at the outside of restaurant on the 1st floor was pretty awesome. Even though the breakfast buffet was only bread, jam, butter, yogurt, ham, boiled egg and cheese (no salads or ordinary breakfast buffet menu), the ambience of having breakfast was good enough. There were a spider on the wall. The interior of the room was too old and didn't match the ambience of front or restaurant area. I thought I paid through the booking.com but I need to pay again at the front desk of Cht. Pomys and it chared me extra for 'internaitonal transaction fee.' There are no evevators. If we visited here with our kids, it must have been a disastor.
The location in vineyard area, the quiet and nice staff
Visiting the wineyards in the area. The restaurant was closed on sunday and it is 7 km to the closest open one.
Wonderful building and location; attentive but unobtrusive staff; excellent food and wine Liked it all
The manager was very helpful to help us find somewhere for a meal on the Sunday we arrived
Very friendly and helpfull staff
We hated it from beginning to end. How can you give 2 stars to such a tip. Horrendous. Not even a proper shower curtain. No room to swing a cat. The extra bed could only just be called a bed. Rancid croissants in the morning. What a dump!
Breakfast, free wifi, neighborly stuff, free car parking, but very small dark rooms without upper light
clean and ease of parking close to eating places
friendly staff..good location not far from major routes..excellent price and quiet once the aircraft from bordeaux airport had stopped flying
This hotel was excellent value for money. You could not ask for more for the rates being charge. If your one of these people who expect the world and pay nothing for it then dont stay here. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to speak english, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast although simple was again value for money. Top marks Its close to the highway but only a short bus trip to town Would recommend There are a number of small restaurants within walking distance as well France closes down at 9pm but thats france
The main reason to stay here is the cheap price. It's a good location in a town outside Bordeaux. Straight run in to Bordeaux. Good Chinese buffet restaurant in Eysines including dim sums, very handy as there are no bars or restaurants anywhere in the 9 kms of suburbs between here and Bordeaux centre. My wife said the room was like living in a cupboard. I thought is was like a Butlins chalet. The shower room was a raised "pod" in the corner of the bedroom, and the extractor fan was missing, so you get very intimate with your partner's body functions. The shower has no curtain, so the floor around the wc gets wet. Cheaply built - creaking floorboards from the room above. But it's cheap.
Very helpful and friendly staff, clean and pleasant environment, adequate refreshment The wet room washing and bathing facilities were in poor condition and the shower unit falling off the wall, the area never dried
Wonderfully friendly reception and the suite (Ceridwen?) was huge and luxurious, with enormous balcony and sun-lounge as well as 3 other rooms.
Hotel staff were excellent - knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
Very friendly staff, good communication skills.
the setting was beautiful. You feel like you are staying in a Chateau. The rooms are large, nicely decorated and very clean. The breakfast was very good. It was all buffet (including coffee), but you can request espresso or cappucino..We really enjoyed our stay the staff are not very visible, (don't expect to be pampered) but we had everything we needed and were very satisfied with everything. If you arrive late you should call and they will make arrangements to leave the key for you.
The room, the staff, the breakfast, the location, the free wifi, the parking. I thought it was overpriced by about 10 euros a night.
Close to many chateau. I don't say it was not dirty but It looked tired. Very cheap fan (a mark from Carrefour Market). 20 euros for the breakfast is insanely expensive, I recommend to take 10 min walk to Village Bage and have nice cafe& freshly baked breads in the Cafe which is about 10 euros or less. If you are looking for a luxury stay. Don't take this one.
Friendly bar and restaurant staff. good food. Off hand and cool reception and checkout staff.necessary to keep windows open cos of heat hence eaten by mosquitoes!
Out hotel room was tiny but otherwise a nice place to stay
easy to find and the bedding was excellent and facilites in the room were nice for the amount we paid. i would defitantley book it again when i am in france. the only fault i would say about the hotel was that they say children eat free breakfast but i was charged for three people which i thought was wrong but couldnt make the person understand what i was saying.though otherwise she was very helpfull and checked us in even though it was outside thier check in time which was very helpfull as we were really tired from travelling whole day and night.
The ability to automatically get the room-card key (by use of an automatic credit card taking machine which also provides the receipt) after 21:00 (when the reception is actually closed and not present on site) is very useful. Value for money is good (given the price of 39 € per day and 4.80€ for an "all you can eat breakfast"), however do be aware that this is very basic (rooms are 4.5 * 2 meter, including the shower room). A TV was present in the room. Noisy environment, shower not working well, small room (4.5 * 2 meter).
Good, clean and cheap
All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good value
Secure car parking compound just off a main motorway reasonably close to the city centre. Like most of France the 'ankle deep' layer of cigarette butts that litter the grounds.
Free Internet connection
The room wasn't clean, it was very very noisy, and the staff unhelpful.
The TV channels is good. There is not the key into the door in this hotel, we don't like the automatic card because our girl of 5 years old ran away while we was sleeping at 3.00 AM, we didn't hear her, we all are deaf, that is why we need the key ( not the automatic card ) for our daughter's security.
Cheap and basic. Smoke coming into our room from adjoining room. Room very small for a tall person.
good price/service ratio, excellent breakfast The bedcover was not clean, the cushion covers not ironed, as if slept in already
