Overall it was good. I would return.
No air conditioning
The location was great, near the Underground and there are some lovely places for breakfast close by.
The cockroach we had to kill. When we told the manager he said it must have been left over from the infestation. He said he would refund the money we paid but then only refunded 10%. The drains didn't drain very well and while on the face of it everything seemed lovely when you looked more closely things like the throw on the bed had stains on so it just started to feel dirty. Way too hot and one fan didn't work. Appreciate they could not control the noise outside but having laundry delivered to the store cupboard next to the room with no regard for people sleeping and noisy staff was not very thoughtful. For the price you can find much better value and not have to share your room with uninvited guests!
Great location in small side street. Unfortunately road works made it very noisy.
We rated this property 1/5 for accommodation. The rooms are ‘pub rooms’ - very small not much bigger than the bed. Note they are NOT air-conditioned. Because of the low ceilings they have fitted wall-mounted fans. In summer this creates the sensation of a convection oven. Note the rooms are several flights of narrow stairs.
The headboard on the double bed was disgustingly dirty!
The only thing of any benefit about this place was the location, which could be OK on another day when the street outside is not being dug up - not the 'hotel' fault. But for this price next time I'll stay in a proper hotel, not a pub pretending to be one.
Pretty much everything could be improved. I'm disappointed the reviews I read about this place were not very accurate. The room was quite dusty and poorly equipped. A lack of air conditioning and any form of mechanical ventilation meant the windows had to be open, letting in dirt and lots of noise - it was like sleeping in the street, very noisy and one of the worst nights my partner and I have had the pleasure to experience. There was a fan.. bonded to the floor so it only directed air to a limited area (including the wall) - dumb. The bathroom featured calcium build up, mould and an obviously blocked drainage system that took some minutes to empty the sink. The hot water, when it finally arrived at the tap, was blisteringly hot and quite dangerous. I had phoned ahead and asked if we could leave our bags at the 'hotel' so we could spend a couple of hours in town - no problem.. except there was no secure room and I was expected to leave my case in a corner of the bar of the pub downstairs. I did, but my partner had to stay in the place to keep watch over it. Breakfast was not included - a bit of a mickey-take considering the £250 price charged, and for less than 24 hours (15:00 - 11:00). It takes more than a bathrobe in the wardrobe to warrant the title 'boutique hotel' and in the case of this place, a LOT more. Next time I'll pay a bit more for a proper hotel - it will hurt my wallet, but I won't feel so ripped off.
