Unfortunately the hostel is used as a cheap hotel for Ukrainians. So it is not really a backpackers hostel at all, so lacks the travellers vibe. There is little interaction between the Ukrainians and the travellers. Which is a shame. This seems to be quite common in Ukrainian Hostels elsewhere.
Perfect location, Nice receptionists, Safe and clean. Good value for the price.
After 9 am very noisy for the bedroom with 4 beds because it is just at the entrance. Toilets are very narrow.
This hostel has nice beds with curtains for privacy, lamp and power socket and is located in a great location of the city.
I found this hostel not good at all for meeting people. There is nowhere in the hostel to just hangout except for the kitchen and meet people plus it's split between two floors, so you'll only get to meet people on your floor. There is also a lot of noise first thing everyday at 8am when people leave their room as this place has wooden floors which makes all noises louder - including the sound of the wheels from people's suitcases and there is no device on the doors to stop the doors from slamming shut. Also there is no place to change your clothes except in the very small shower cubicles. Also security on the 4th floor isn't as good as it could be - the doors to each dorm room are not locked so anyone can walk into your room even if they don't stay in that room. In fact during my stay there a very drunk person from another room started knocking on the door of each dorm room and inviting people at 8am to the kitchen to drink Vodka with him. He even walked right into my dorm room and even though I was pretending to sleep so he'd leave me alone he pulled back the curtain to my bed, grabbed my arm and was trying to get me to come to the kitchen to drink with him. He seemed a nice guy and was not violent in anyway but a different guy could have been. There is no member of staff located on the 4th floor - only the 3rd floor has a member of staff. Also some people were leaving the front door to the entire 4th floor unlocked by sliding a bolt that prevents the door from locking, so literally during the day anyone could walk into the building, go up to the 4th floor - walk into the hostel and then into your room without needing any kind of key. During my stay there - they had about 10 guys staying in the hostel with bicycles and they would often leave the front door to the 4th floor unlocked by sliding the latch that prevents the door from locking and bring their bicycles up and down the stairs.
The location is outstanding, right next to the Rynok Square. Big dorm beds had curtains and sockets. The hostel is spread across two floors with two kitchens/lounges. Everything was always clean. Most of the guests were Ukrainian but there was some atmosphere amongst the English speaking guests. There is a ban on drinking 'hard alcohol' so not the place to party inside. Would definitely stay again if in Lviv.
Majority of the staff did not appear to speak English to any useful level. No hob in upstairs kitchen.
I arrived very late worried that it might be too late to check in but Lilya, the girl at the reception that day, welcomed me with a smile. She was very helpful showing me my room and giving all the necessary instructions. The bed was comfortable and the facilities were great, I didn’t have time to use the kitchen but it seemed very well equipped. The best thing is the location, you walk out of the door and you’re in the heart of this beautiful city!
