Pros: Lovely room, very comfortable bed and lovely en suite shower. Our room was towards the back of the house so beautifully quiet too. Hosts gave us tips for choices of local restaurants so we went to the Indian (which was very good) and we also used the Bear of Amsterdam later in the week. Our delicious breakfast was freshly cooked to order and we would certainly recommend staying here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful seaside townhouse with rooms furnished to a very high standard, spectacular views, exceptionally friendly and helpful owners and a wonderful choice of breakfast. We have stayed in this location many times and the Awel y Mor has definitely exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended for a long weekend or a few days in Aberdyfi, the close proximity to the beach and amenities plus the stylish interior make this property one of the best in the area.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike or improve upon.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our room with beautiful views of the sea on one side and the railway and hills on the other! Everything was perfectly clean and comfortable. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming and ready to offer plenty of tips and advice for exploring the area. If you have a nice big appetite then breakfast time is a dream come true - a beautiful spread of cereals and fresh fruit to help yourself to and delicious cooked options on top, with as much tea/coffee, fruit juice and toast as you like. Philippa and Colin are clearly very dedicated and passionate about the comfort and happiness of their guests, we really can’t fault Awel Y Mor!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunningly beautiful setting and the area around. Waterfall seen right out of the window, cleanest air and sky packed with stars at night. The room and the whole building very comfortable, spacious, recently renovated. The host really kind and welcoming. Especially great were those little tiny details of extra attention to detail here and there, really feels like home rather than hotel – but with all the comfort. Breakfast area full of sunlight, panoramic windows overlooking beautiful garden. Just perfect!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cosy lounge to sit in and use, along with the conservatory and veranda. Nice to sit on the veranda with the sound of the river below rushing by. Also a lovely veiw down the valley looking north and the well kept garden. The owner makes you feel very welcome and at home, especially comforting as a solo traveller. Breakfast, very generous size and filling, setting you up well for the day. I don't usually like shared bathrooms, but this one was so clean and spacious, i didn't mind at all. Only 5 mins drive from town.
Cons: That I only had one day there!

Pros: The view from our room was very picturesque. The bedroom was furnished to a high standard. Pillows and bed very comfortable. There were binoculars in the room which was a nice touch as you could see right across the water sitting on one of the chairs by the window. On arrival there was homemade bara brith which was delicious . Our hosts made us very welcome and we were thrilled with the room we received. Breakfast was really nice, good choice of homemade jams and fruit selection was different each day. Cooked breakfast was delicious also. Have recommended it to friends and family, will definitely return

Pros: The staff were excellent when booking we were informed by the hotel that we could purchase a car park voucher for reduced costs. When we arrived we were informed that this was no longer the case and we would have to pay full parking charges. Staff member sorted this out above our expectations

Penrhosmawr - Machynlleth - Bedroom

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Penrhosmawr B&B in Machynlleth, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Centre for Alternative Technology and Falconry Experience Wales. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.1 Good
Pros: Beautiful location far from the madding crowds but also convenient for Machynlleth and surrounds. Well equipped mobile home, ample room for the three of us, nice breakfast brought over in a basket by daughter of the house the night before, inc cereals, toast, juice etc. Proper coffee would have been nice, suggest people take their own if wanted. There were a huge number of sharp knives in the kitchen drawer, a bit scary but excellent if you want to do your own butchering for the barbeque! there was a hot tub available which we didn't use, but could be fun! Internet access was down during our stay apparently due to the wet weather, but there were phone numbers of the owners posted on the door and so I called them and they were able to find out some local information I needed.
Cons: There is no light pollution here which is great! BUT at night the location is very dark and brighter security lights than currently fitted are essential really. Further to this, the step up to the mobile home front door is home-made and very high (my 94 year old mum struggled with this and I had pre-warned owners I was bringing an aged relative). More seriously there is a gap between the top of the step and the door, which in the dark and wet conditions when we were there, was dangerous. I suggest a standard mobile home entrance way is installed, this is the case in all other static vans I have visited. Finally, bearing in mind the farm house was next door, a welcome from the owners would have been nice. We arrived at the stated check in (5 pm) and the key handover was provide by (I assume) the young daughter of the house, which was fine, but a meet and greet during our stay always appreciated! Minor point: several of the spot lights in the sitting room area not functioning so it was a bit dark at night. Internet wireless was down during our October visit apparently due to wet weather.

Cons: Nothing Really
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was well maintained with plenty of seating in lounge areas. All the staff were very good and friendly. The eggs and fried bread at breakfast were spot on.
Cons: The food for a four star hotel was poor. It was obviously pre-cooked and left under heat lamps, or was heated up in a microwave, as it was served so quickly after our orders were take. Some of the food was thus dried out and was not good to eat. This applied to breakfast and dinner.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent and the staff were helpful and very efficient

Pros: It was seriously the best salmon & scrambled egg I've ever had in a hotel. Completely delicious. The staff were lovely - very friendly. My single room was large though a little faded. Public rooms were characterful, quiet and comfortable. I didn't eat an evening meal there though friends did and they really enjoyed it.
Cons: A walk-in shower would have been good. I had damaged my ankle and was not very mobile.

Pros: .Great location central to coastal & mountain scenery & activities. Pretty riverside location. We were welcomed by the resident chickens and bantam rooster and saw several pheasants near the river the next morning. The proprietor was welcoming and entertaining and gave directions to dinner alternatives at the local pubs. The breakfast buffet was excellent with numerous choices including homemade jams.

Pros: It's a very clean hotel, Sue works her socks off. The location is fantastic, it's right by the river overlooking mountains and forest. I can confirm that the breakfast is great.
Cons: I asked if there was a bar but was told no, having a cool beer by the side of the river would've been nice. I think there is a bar it just wasn't open when we were there. I'm not sure if the hotel does evening meals.
