Pros: My boyfriend and I stayed here one day and one night during a coastal road trip. The view from our condo and the pure coziness of everything and the beauty of the grounds made us want to stay for a whole week! It was my boyfriends birthday and I purchased the celebration package for him and Aaron went above and beyond with it! The grounds are beautiful and well kept and I can't wait to bring my family back to this gem!

Pros: The apartment was like new with excellent views of the beach and headlands. Excellent for family dog too. Good for both fair and foul weather.

Cons: We didn't have direct beach access from the Inn due to construction that blocked the staircase. The room was also difficult to keep warm enough, especially the bathroom.

Agate Beach Motel - Newport - Building
9.4 Excellent (139 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Agate Beach Motel in Newport, OR is located right on the coast, and as the name suggests, it is just steps from the beach. The property offers a quality place to stay for those who want to vacation in this beautiful area. There are dog-friendly suites available at the property for those who are traveling with their pets. The suites at the motel have common amenities, but one of the elements that make this property special is that all of the suites are unique. All of the accommodations have beautiful views, and guests can choose from many different types of suites including the premier queen suite, standard queen suite, pet-free premier queen suite, and the standard double queen suite. Some of the types of amenities available in the suites include private bathrooms, flat-screen TVs and DVD players, an electric fireplace, wireless Internet, a fully stocked kitchen, dining area, and living room, coffee, and more. The motel has DVDs and board games that are available at the front desk. In addition, there is a portable gas grill that the guests can use for cooking. There is a lawn, along with a private staircase that will lead right to the beach. When the weather permits, the motel will turn on the fire pit. In addition to heading to the beach, vacationers might want to visit Agate Beach Golf Course, or they might want to check out the lighthouse. They can also find some nice places to dine nearby, such as Cobblestone Pizza Co. and Chalet Restaurant & Bakery.
7.7 Good
Pros: Let me state that the advertising for this site are deceptive at best. Should be advertised as a Boutique hotel. That being said the place was clean, well kept up and secluded, if not for the surrounding properties you would think you were in a place time forgot. It reminded me of the family beach house my grandfather built back in the 20's. The amenities in the kitchen were fine and the kitchen was sparkling clean. The property is so quite and the beach so private. The fact is the place and its charm grow on you and you settle in to a comfortable state of mind that one does not often find in to days crazy fast pace. An experience in nostalgia, a look back if you are like me a child of the 40's & 50's.
Cons: As previously stated the place needs to be advertised as a boutique property. Explain the fireplaces are electric wall hangings. By comparing the average rates rates for the area I would consider this property about 15% overpriced when comparing amenities. The rate is equal to the Best Western at Agate beach which has food and beverage service and indoor pool among other things.
Hallmark Resort - Newport - Newport - Bar
9.2 Excellent (2,190 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Hallmark Resort Newport is a gorgeous hotel that sits on the majestic Oregon coast. This is one of the few hotels in which every single room has an oceanfront view. All of the rooms 100% non-smoking and the hotel has several rooms set aside for guests that are traveling with pets. There are four different types of rooms at Hallmark Resort Newport. The traditional rooms are classicly styled hotel rooms with a flat-screen TV, balcony, and gas fireplaces that can warm the room when the weather gets chilly. The Traditional Rooms can sleep two, four or six people. Limited Edition Rooms are just the like Traditional rooms, except more spacious, while the Admiral Rooms offer an upscale experience with a kitchen and two-person spa tub. Finally, guests that want a little more room to spread out, or are traveling with larger numbers, can a multi-bedroom suite. Hallmark Resort Newport has many different facilities for visitors to use during their visit. On the first floor is a fully furnished recreational facility with a sauna, spa, and saltwater pool. Outside of the aquatic area is a fitness center and a playground, horseshoe pits and a volleyball court. The hotel also has a fully-equipped business center with a high-end computer, printer, fax machine, copy machine, and dedicated parcel delivery area. There are some excellent restaurants nearby, but Hallmark Resort Newport has an acclaimed restaurant integrated onto its first floor. Georgie's is a beachside grill offering casual Northwest cuisine. Georgie's has the same breathtaking views as the hotel. Because of the restaurant's proximity to the ocean, visitors can expect to see plenty of fresh seafood dishes on the menu. Some of the local favorites on the menu include wild-caught Northwest salmon with pineapple salsa, panko breaded halibut tacos and Yaquina Bay oysters, which are pan-fried and served with cocktail and tartar sauces.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great, except for the wifi connection. We ended up needing to use our data instead in order to do anything requiring the internet. Overall a lovely and romantic stay.

9.4 Excellent
Pros: Loved that there was an indoor pool and hot tub. Close to the aquarium. Lobby was clean, warm and inviting. Even decorated for Halloween.
Cons: Our room had a very funky smell to it. Room 209.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Comfortable room
Cons: Reserved two nights, schedule changed and only needed one. Still charged for two and they told me there was nothing they could do.
3.1 Mediocre
Cons: There was absolutely no ocean view like the pictures suggested. when I booked a suite I expected a bedroom in its own room. Not a half wall dividing a pull out couch with an inch thick mattress that was slanted. I have a toddler and thanks to the misrepresentation we had to be in bed with him at 8:30. The front desk did nothing to aid my complaints besides tell me I read the website wrong. This room was definitely not worth the $200 a night I paid for it and I will never be returning to this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: She room was really nice.
Cons: Mosquitoes in the area got into the front area.
7.7 Good
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful. Easy access to 101
Cons: Heater did not work. Tried multiple times and multiple options. Front desk agent at check out credited a small amount back - but did not change having an elderly parent cold overnight...
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool and the hot tub worked well for us. The staff were great. Close to the aquarium.
Cons: Our hotel's view was of the hotel next door parking lot with very bright lights. But as the only hotel left in Newport that day,I'm not complaining!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Continental breakfast is always a plus. Beds were comfy and having a fridge in the room is a great point for my choice of hotels.

Pros: My husband and I stayed here 1 night but wish we stayed longer! The staff was super friendly. The room was a nice size and included a couch and fireplace. The view was lovely even considering the foggy weather we were given. Would definitely make a point to visit here again!
Cons: The elevator is slow
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Love this hotel. The beach views are fantastic. Room had a great balcony overlooking the ocean, and a nice fireplace. The staff was friendly. We stayed there 2 nights - room has a fridge, which is nice. My kids loved the pool.
Cons: I was not a fan of the breakfast. The sausage gravy was not very good, and the eggs did not look appealing. To be fair, most hotels offer a "free hot breakfast", and IMO, most are not very good, so I am not surprised.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very romantic waterfront Hotel we had an excellent stay and will definitely be back
Cons: There wasn't anything I didn't like

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The complimentary wine hour daily. The TV/Drawers/Coffee Slide-out furniture piece was convenient
Cons: ocean-front balcony not sized to sit out on but only to stand at a railing
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location. Very friendly / helpful staff
Cons: Very noisy with doors constantly banging and neighbours clearly heard. Not a relaxing stay at all. Also quite a strange smell. Housekeeping knocking on our door at 5pm. Glad to leave.
8.5 Excellent
Cons: The Starfish Grill, we ordered the special for breakfast. 2 waffles, 2 pieces of bacon. It came out, and it looked like 2 small freezer waffles. Very disappointed. I thought they would at leastsketch fresh breakfast, especially since we were paying for this. No free breakfast as BW has been advertising.
7.7 Good
Pros: Very convenient to beach. Nice swimming pool. Excellent on-site dining in the cafe. The prices were reasonable and the food was good. The bacon...yum! All staff that we encountered were polite and friendly. Good choice for families. Also dogs are allowed!
Cons: The air system in the room was out of date and made sleeping stuffy unless the door was left open. This used to be a Hilton, and now looks like there are a number of updates necessary....some holes in the dining room. Though everything was clean it had a bit of a tired look. However, I will say that I think it is an excellent lodging for families.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and modern, beds were comfortable, TV/remote worked properly, online access to hotel staff was handy, hotel provided a couple “dog sheets” to cover the beds to protect them from sandy paws, dog treats were waiting in the room when we arrived, room was on 6th floor with quick/easy access to skybridge to parking and space to walk the dogs, hotel provided grassy area on the beach side of hotel too and the doggy bag receptacles we’re stocked and handy, easy access to the beach. Overall, a very nice stay.
Cons: My fault that I didn’t think to request a beach-facing room; not that we experienced any disturbances from the parking side but it would have been nice to have a beach view. We reported to staff that one complimentary toiletry had been opened/used before we arrived but everything else appeared very clean and in order. We had an issue with the sink not draining but maintenance came quickly and kindly fixed it. I had ordered a box fan during pre-check-in thru their online access; even though they acknowledged the request, the fan wasn’t in the room when we arrived and we needed to request one again; it was delivered to our door while we were out getting dinner. Only those couple issues; they were minor and did not have a negative impact on our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The staff was friendly, the room was very spacious and clean. We received 10% off at the Steakhouse right behind the hotel (and it was delicious), plus the free hot breakfast was very good. Overall, one of the best hotels I've stayed at.
Cons: Nothing
8.2 Excellent
Pros: We stayed with our children on the top floor. They loved it! The view was beautiful. We will be staying there in the future. It is close to the beach and they have a little hose to wash of sandy feet near the path up to the hotel. Pool room is great too!
Cons: We wish they offered a free breakfast.
5.4 Okay
Pros: We love the location and ocean view this hotel offers. We arrived 3 hours before check in time and the staff had our room ready within 15 minutes and allowed us to check in early.
Cons: The room is not kid friendly, there was cords everwhere. My crawling 9 month old brought light to many open outlets and dangling cords throughout the entire room. We also saw several splatters of unknown substances around the rooms walls (gross) and on the headboard (even grosser).
4.2 Okay
Pros: The only thing i liked about this hotel was how close it was to the beach.
Cons: My credit card was over charged 3 times! They over charged me a total of 229$ when I went to talk to the manager about this she said there was nothing I could do until tomorrow when you check out. So needless to say my vacation was ruined. I wasn't able to do as much as I had wanted to do. Then the next morning during check out she reversed all the fees. Later i checked my bank statement to see if the money was refunded and they had shorted me a dollar. I will never stay at this hotel again. Nor will i ever suggest it to anyone.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The 101 was shut down in the direction we were heading and we needed a hotel at the last minute. We got a good deal on the room, check in was snappy, room was comfy and clean.
Cons: The bathtub was a little uncomfortable.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The beds were comfortable and the hotel was clean.
Cons: It was a little too spendy.

7.1 Good
Pros: Location was good. Lobby was nice. Staff were nice. Breakfast was good. Heater worked well.

9.4 Excellent
Cons: Small breakfast room, had to wait for a seat
7.1 Good
Pros: Beds are always comfy, like the microwave and fridgie in the room, room size is always generous however, the carpet in the room had large brown spots on it, the elevator was a tight squeeze and slow, and the walls could use some new paint. We could also only get one seat in the breakfast room so my sister had to stand and eat.

4.0 Okay
Cons: facility not well maintained; faded, unfinished paint not very clean rooms have musty smell old carpets, old bedding, old drapery sheets did not fit bed even after request made that they do fit not much effort being made, obviously
9.4 Excellent
Pros: I loved the ocean view from my room. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The indoor pool was much nicer than I anticipated - very clean, with a nice hot tub and sauna. Because weather at the coast can be unpredictable, it was nice to have an indoor pool as back-up entertainment for me and my young child. I was also pleasantly surprised by the "continental breakfast." We had cereal, bagels, waffles, oatmeal, fruit, and more available to us. I'm not really looking for luxury in a hotel but, rather, clean, safe, well-located at a reasonable price and The Waves definitely delivered.
Cons: Though you can see the ocean right out your window, beach access is rather far away. I didn't realize that going in, so it was a mild disappointment. But this was minor.
7.7 Good
Pros: We came and stayed for 2 nights. Room was very clean. It was designated non-smoking. Shower had plenty of hot water (I have not always seen this to be true in economy hotels). Rooms were quiet (or maybe we were lucky and had quiet neighbors). Towels were of good quality. Although they used those really tiny bars of soap, housekeeping left a pile of them. The mattresses and pillows were average but fine. Although we did not need it, I was happy to see a clearly marked, easily accessible coin-operated guest laundry. Did I mention it was very clean? The hotel was an easy, several block walk into the historic district of Nye Beach. Breakfast was very adequate - a selection of breads with butter and jam, freezer waffles, hard-cooked eggs, cold cereals, fruit juice. The fruit bowl had lots of bananas. It was nothing fancy, but was completely adequate. Room also had dish tv and a DVD player. There was an eclectic selection of movies for rent in office.
Cons: There was no direct beach access, which was disappointing. The one small window did not prop open very well, and that kept the room warmer than it needed to be (daytime temperatures were very warm). There are no balconies. No fan to help at window. The building we were in did not have an elevator and the climb to the 3rd floor was inconvenient (my knees are not good), although we liked our 3rd floor room. If we stay there again, I will remember to ask for the building with an elevator. My family did not mind not having the elevator. I hated that several guests came to breakfast in pajamas (really??!) - but that's not the hotel's fault! Decor was dated, but that would not prevent me from staying there again! There was a small alarm clock, that was not plugged in, but we had our cell phones, which we used for alarm clocks.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Was able to hear the ocean at night
Cons: I'm not a picky person, but maid service should be able to vacuum around the bed and walls had not been done in sometime. Gap under door was large enough to let light in and shower was extra small with out proper shower curtain. Front desk person was not happy that we arrived after 10:00pm. Sorry our jobs do not allow us to leave early in day. But my next stay in Newport will be with a motel that wants me there.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The pool was nice
Cons: It wasn't clean the floor was dirty and there where ain't in the bathroom and near the window
3.7 Mediocre
Pros: Close to the beach, ocean view from the window
Cons: The motel is old, not so clean, the pool located out the facility
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was the bes! Everyone was so nice and helpful. Pretty much your basic hotel room. Comforter was very dated and not cozy at all but the pillows were nice and sheets smelled great. Salt water pool and spa so that was pretty cool. Partial ocean view too.
Cons: No fan in the bathroom.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Pet friendly was amazing! Thank you !
7.1 Good
Pros: We enjoyed the pool, and the hotel is a short walk to beach access.
Cons: Our room was very hot and smelled awful when we arrived. We left the window open the whole time and the smell became tolerable. The continental breakfast doesn't start until 8. We paid for ocean view and had an OK view over a neighboring roof and through power lines and a power pole.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The swimming pool area was great. It was clean and plenty of towels Nice view of the ocean. Staff was very nice and acccomodating.
Cons: Rooms were a bit stuffy and the beds were too hard for my liking.

7.4 Good
Pros: 1. room cleaner helpful and polite.
Cons: 1. being placed across the hall from the elevator! Since this is my 1st stay there, I would know where to request a room next time. 2. desk person not very helpful and acted as if he would rather be doing something else or not working at all. could use a course in customer service.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Location is the best part. You can walk to the bay and brewery. Downtown area just over the bridge and down to the right!
Cons: It was hot as hell in the 3rd floor. No AC, carpet sticky. Smelled like asshole. Very stinky. Okay clean. Staff ok. TV nice. Nothing special. It's good for a quick stay. Stayed two nights. would not stay again. Only if nothing else was available. You get what you pay for.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Great place with a great price. Walking distance to the Oregon Aquarium and Rogue Brewery. Easy access on and off the highway.
6.0 Good
Pros: The lady at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. This hotel is located on the south end of the Yaquina Bay Bridge...within walking distance you will find, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, Some cute tourist shops, and the Rouge Ales Brewers on the Bay. You can see the bay and bridge from some windows so ask for a view if you want one.
Cons: Our view was that of the RV park behind the hotel. Upon entering the room it smelled strongly of crab...I have a feeling the last guests cleaned their crab here....and minutes later I did see some young men carrying 2 big ice chests into their room...that I could only guess were full of sea food. The room was clean enough although the walls do need a good wipe down. I did not feel welcomed to sit on the couch as it seemed quite dirty and it had a rip in the arm of the chair that was "patched up" with some cloth of the same fabric and some glue. The fireplace was inoperable. All 3 vending machines were also out of order. There was only a VCR in our room however they do loan out VHS' in the lobby. The continental breakfast was half of a muffin and coffee.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Pretty bedspreads
Cons: Staff was quite rude. Half used limes, salt and dirty glasses were under the beds.
8.6 Excellent
Pros: Location was very convenient for us
Cons: No wifi
9.4 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was super nice for what we paid for it!
Cons: Doesn't have AC but it was not to warm when we stayed! We were able to open a window!
6.0 Good
Pros: Stayed with my three kids. Our room did NOT have a balcony like the picture showed. And while there was TV they received absolutely NO kid channels. One plus side was the free WiFi and my children had tablets. However I would NOT recommend this hotel for children. The Oregon coast is inevitably rainy at times and you will be stuck in the room til the rain let's up. Clean room, reasonably priced just not a place you'd want to be stuck with kids with nothing to do. I recommend spending the extra $20 at night and get a hotel with a pool or at the very least kid TV channels
Cons: No kid TV channels. We we're originally told we'd have a balcony. We did NOT. When I asked for new towels they'd only give me two at a time. There was 4 of us. Fire place didn't work. The start button was removed.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great and offered me breakfast when I got there in the late afternoon . I told them I could not do stairs and they gave us a nice one on the ground floor.
Cons: It was not the staff's fault but three units down a couple was in the parking lot a midnight talking loudly . He wanted into her pants and she was loving the attention . Her name was Debbie . Debbie did not do Dudley.
5.4 Okay
Cons: Unit had no A/C. Not good on a warm summer day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Compared to other motels, this place is like a hotel. The rooms were newly renovated and very comfortable. The owner was very friendly and told us that the continental breakfast was all day long starting at 7:30am. Don't expect fruits and sausage and eggs for breakfast on this price, but overall the atmosphere was good. There are drinks such as juice and coffee all day long with muffins, bagel, and danish pastries.
2.0 Mediocre
