Perfectly clean and wonderful. Facility is nice. Nothing.
Hotel was charming with fantastic views. Staff were very helpful. We asked where we could find petrol in very broken Portuguese and the manager told us, but as he was worried we might not have understood, found someone who came and explained it to us in perfect English during dinner. It would be nice to have an electric kettle in the room for making coffee/tea. The restaurant was good but not as fantastic as others we found in the area (but in Marvao itself was the only one that seemed to be open in the evening in January). Breakfasts were very good, except for the very artificial orange juice, yuck.
We were made to feel very welcome by the staff, who were efficient without being intrusive. We particularly liked the way in which the rooms were decorated and furnished and thought that the restaurant food was exellent. Our five year old grandson thoroughly enjoyed his stay.. While we enjoyed good service we felt that our waitress in the restaurant stood too close to our table (we were the only diners that night) to the extent that we felt slightly intimidated. She was though exceedingly friendly and helpful and also spoke English.
situation and fantastic view from room - the one in the web site information could not open the drawers in wardrobe! a small niggle
People were always extremely friendly, helpeful, the food was excelent and the hotel was very quiet, which is what I was looking for.
The position was fantastic in this wonderful village. Reception was very helpful and heaps of parking right outside. Breakfast was good and we were so glad we booked and came here even tho it was a twisting mountain road ujp to the village.
Good restaurant serving regional dishes.
the hotel is peaceful and quiet. try to get a room with view into the beautiful Alentejo landscape. there are also 2 rooms with little roof-terraces. these might also be nice to have.
Position. Staff not very friendly.
Excellent facilities for a small country inn - evn monogrammed towel and pillows!. Located inside the walls of this beautiful fortified town it has air-con and wi-fi in the rooms. Restaurant is good too. TV channels are a bit fuzzy
Panorama Complicated access
Very nice rooms. View from the restorant is exelant, but food is not very fresh. Bread was old and cheese.
I like the location, ambiance and unique citadel atmosphere. The views are awesome. The beds are not so good. The restaurant is much too expensive and not good value.
location booking.com screwed me. The confirmation on my reservation was for 80 euros for two people. I was charged 95 euros per room. This is unfair and booking.com sucks. I will tell all my friends to NEVER use booking.com. You are a bad business and unfair to customers.
The Pousada is in the middle of an hsitoric village with suberb views and even though is an old building the services and facilities were quite good.
Although experiencing soaring temperatures of >35C, the arconditioning in the rooms did not work. Unfortunately hotel staff was not cooperative to seek for alternatives nor willing to offer any (financial) compensation/discount for the inconvenience. Very limited parking. Conclusion: very poor value for money and not even close to a four star hotel. Not worth to call it a 'pousada' .
The staff were helpful and friendly. The bedroom was comfortable. The location is absolutely charming. The bathroom was adequate but 'tired' - chipped tiles, broken fixtures. Not what you would expect in this standard of hotel in this price range. Apart from breakfast, the food was over-priced and lacked any distinction - very disappointing.
Lovely location and views Plumbing system very noisy from time to time !
Stylish, clean and comfortable, an unexpected find in this area of the country.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the beds were super comfortable.
Beautiful little hotel. Everything in apple pie order. Overlooking an industrial building. Restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday
The hotel is located in a small village and has undergone major refurbishment two years ago and it did look fresh and modern. There are 12 rooms in total and most if not all have a balcony with a parasol, a table and chairs. An examples of old kitchen items like scales, dough mixing machines or till machine were used to decorate the breakfast room/bar. Spelling mistakes in English translation of the food menu and other hotel literature which could easily be improved.
The hotel in general, the geographic location, the quality of the food products. For a "green" hotel it could have a separate smoking room, water economizer adaptors in the toilets, and stimulate plastic/paper/glass separation in the rooms (for the mini-bar bottles, for example). For the days when the hotel has more costumers there should be two people attending at breakfast, as it is difficult for only one person to do all the replacements and refills and attend the special orders in a timely fashion.
Very pleasant experience. No in room facility for making hot drinks.
Comfortable and quiet room; warm and friendly staff from front desk through dining and check out; services were of a high standard. Easy to deaal with and very informative. Quality of the fittings etc was wonderful.
Wonderful stay, definitely recommendable. Superb facilities, brand new, very confortable rooms, decorated with good taste. Extraordinary friendly service - the owner herself gave us excellent tips to explore the region.
Great value for money. Nice room and pleasant staff. Very nice breakfast. The floor on the bathroom is a bit used, no biggie, though.
Beautiful town with mediveal are and castle Very basic breakfast - well below usual Portugal expreience. Restaurant closed except on Sat but reception did recommend good local alternative.
The hotel was actually pretty comfortable, with good rooms and facilities. It has a swimming pool and is very well located in the center of Castelo de Vide. The price of the rooms is very pleasant.
The hotel staff were really great. No.
Village view form the room and from the restaurant, and the simpaty from all the staff. The smell in the hallway leading to the room.
Good location and view. Walking distance to everything at the village. A nice park side by side. Air conditioning at the room working beautifully in those hot days. During my stay (2 rooms/7 days, several meals) credit/debit cards were disallowed, which implied paying everything with cash.
The location was good and the staff was very helpful.
specious and quite rooms.good location.
the location and the pool
The location was very central for me. The hotel is comfortable and clean.
wonderful hotel with inexpensive price. In front of the hotel, there are a public pool. You can enjoy swimming too.
Excelent. Will be back for sure. Sometimes seemed that they didn't had enough staff, but nothing too important.
The staff, the location and a very clean, beautiful room. The breakfast is at the level of a 5 star hotel. None. It is a good clean family hotel with excellent hospitality with at a very reasonable price.
Staff were very friendly. I asked many questions and the staff resolved it immediately. Rooms were clean. Value for money although I did get a special rate of £35ppn. The ladder by the pool needs serious attention. I wont be surprised that it will come completely loose and cause serious injury to someone.
Wonderful setting, room and food
Very quiet and calm environment The hotel needs serious repairs and buffet breakfast is poor
restraunt unavailable for evening meals
Comfortable; excellent private balconies, lovely views of the mountains, pleasant friendly staff, good breakfast; did not feel rushed or hurried at breakfast or on checking out. Stayed twice on this trip. Thank you. It would be good if some food were available in the evening, even if it was only a light snack - local restaurants are good, but sometimes you are too tired to go out.
Free parking, nice swimming pool, breakfast included.
position, good breakfast, room cleanliness of bed lining to be improved
The position of this hotel is magnificent with marvellous views across the countryside to the Spanish border. The room was very clean although it was quite small, but as the building is a few hundred years old that is what you would expect. The breakfast is excellent and I can recommend the evening meals in the restaurant, local dishes in vast quantities. The hotel taxi is very good if you arrive as we did on the train from Lisbon. Marvao is a beautiful hilltop town and we loved our stay.
Incredible location and Fernando (the owner) was very helpful and friendly. For a photographer, this is it! No
The wonderful views and the price 1 The food (breakfast and supper) was poor. 2 There was a "toilet" smell in the corridor, which the owner tried to mask with a scented candle. 3 There was a plastic sheet covering the mattress, which I found uncomfortable.
Very good service and friendly staff. Kitchen is excellent For people with less driving experience it could be a little tricky to get there.
Friendly hotelier, room was clean and comfortable, and hotel is situated in an amazing location i.e. Marvao
It was vey quiet and lovely views. We had to share a bathroom. There is place inside the room for a private shower.
Welcoming very nice. Hotelkeeper made food in the evening although it was not a rule. Also someone came to help us outside because we could not find the hotel in the dark. So service all ok for the 1st part. We did not like the acts of the waitress in the morning with breakfast. She grumbled that we were late. She asked for the money when we left and she had no change money so we had to give her a tip. The paying took place ont the breakfast table, not in an office, also we got no bill. Also both did not speak a word english
The hospitality and welcome received for us and for our little dog was wonderful. The position in the hills of the Valle de Radao was delightful, surrounded by rolling hills and unspoilt countryside. A great place for walking and exploring, with local cuisine available in the nearby village to a good standard. We would love to visit again. Not easy to find, perseverence required but well worth the effort!!
Relaxing environment, nice breakfast, peaceful view (studio apartment) Administrative procedures (check in/out)
The Hospitality of the owners, the quiet of the surroundings, the gorgeous view of the serra de São Mamede.
Certainly different! A restored ruin apparently miles from anywhere. Priced with hotels it can't compete with for facilities but which can't compare for the experience. Rustic outside; unexpected inside. Walkers and lovers could stay until exhausted! Very nice personalised breakfast prepared to order. Despite emailed directions, get there in daylight!
Off the beaten track and very rural with lovely view across countryside. Welcoming glass of wine on arrival and Jorge and Irene were friendly unobtrusive hosts. We stayed in the studio which had everything we needed for our one night stopover. Breakfast (taken in the main house) was excellent with fresh rolls, jams, ham and cheese. Knowing we had a long drive ahead, Jorge kindly let us make up rolls for our picnic lunch!
Convenient for City Centre. Easy to park. Good heating system in rooms. Comfortable rooms. Staff mostly helpful. Small en-suite. One member of staff unhelpful.
Excelente atendimento da recepcao. Excellent hotel reception staff. Hotel nao aceita cartao de credito e não foi informado na reserva. Hotel doesn't accept credit card and it was not informed in the reservation.
Free internet in reception area. Value for money. Cold in the room during the first hours but it was solved quickly. I had to pay cash.
Casa do Parque It's the perfect hotel, from comfort to staff friendlyness, cleanliness and excellent rooms with a nice view for the park, everything was absolutely superb. Great location, near city center, the price we paid was good value for money, the hotel restaurant is the best we had is Portugal.
Great location with possibly one of the best views in Castelo de Vide. The staff were all very friendly, we have never had such a welcome to a hotel. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The selection at breakfast was plentiful and good value. We will definitely return to Castelo de Vide and Casa do Parque will be our first choice of hotel. We would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Castelo de Vide.
Great, quiet location opposite park in center of town. Friendly, helpful staff. Picturesque and interesting town. No fruits for breakfast.
excellently placed for touring
The hotel staff were so friendly and always willing to help. The hotel was very very pleasant and well equipped. The decor was beautiful, and the views of the town stunning. Would definately stay there again. Only the small hard beds and rock solid pillows, but otherwise it was highly recommended.
Great location in a beautiful town. Rooms seem a little tired. Could use some updating. Beds very creaky.
Excellent "maitre d'hotel" - speeks good french. Very good price/quality. The restaurant of the hotel is also very good. The hotel is very good located in the town of Castelo de Vide. We enjoyed our one night stay
