This hotel is a fixture from the past. It feels like stepping into a time portal. The reception staff is very nice, unless you complain about anything, and then they become gruff and stand-offish. The elevator smells like someone unloaded and entire can of cheap dollar store floral spray. You feel you are swallowing rather than breathing. I was escorted to my room, I encountered undersized twin beds, not the queen bed I was expecting. Also, the decades old carpet smelled like a cross between old man sweat and a wet dog. There was a faint tinge of that lovely bug spray floral mist, perhaps lingering from the elevator just 10 meters away. The doors lock with an actual key, old school. The key is attached to a huge plastic fob, which means turn in the key and retrieve it every time you go out. I don't mind that. There is a huge door that is locked at night and the security guard every night was asleep when I needed to go out of re-enter. I find that typical for such hotels, which is why, had I known this before, I might not have made the choice to stay here. Overall, run down, old, the chair next to the "desk" (more a cheap 1960s style thin framed side table with a gawdy lamp) was held together with a combination of woods screws and nails on the back; the springs were gone, so when you sit, you sink. It felt unsteady and made it nearly impossible to do any work. And there was no other seating option in the room. In its hey day it may have been 3 stars, now I would say there are plenty of newer 2 star places that are more comfortable for less money. The area is the main reason to stay here. Presently the hotel is next to a build site, with cranes and sheet metal barrier around. They were not building during my stay, but I imagine this could be a hideous experience when they start up. So, if you don't mind the smell of old souls trapped i time and over sprayed cheap deoderizer, etc..you might just love this place.
It was fine for our purposes, we were just overnight and the location convenient for us.
Very old school but was good for what I payed for it
The hallways where dark
The service was great. My 4 am wake up call was punctual. The price at $38 US was unbelievable.
There wasn't anything I didn't like. It is located across the street from a great restaurant barbacoa y four blocks from the Plaza Monumental.
At night there is too much noise coming from the street, big trucks pass by late at night. Very noisy
