10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a fantastic place to stay. Our host Moreno greeted us with a delicious glass of local red wine. He made us feel welcomed and relaxed. Moreno made himself availble to us any time....he new the area and could recommend good eating places. He also advised us about the upper trails of the Cinque Terre. Our goal was to walk to all the 5 fishing villages and we accomplished this.
Cons: Breakfast was very simple but the coffee was good!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Host and family were delightful. So friendly and helpful. Room was so clean! Great location in Old Town. People like to party, so many wine bars and restaurants to choose from. Mario’s restaurant is a must and the oldest wine store in Monterosso. Thank you Moreno for a great stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts, Moreno and Sabrina are helpful and friendly and go the extra mile to make sure you have all you need for an enjoyable stay. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable although a modern pillow top mattress would be a contemporary improvement. The bathroom is small but well appointed with quality tiles and modern fixtures and fittings. The hosts are generous with a complimentary welcome gift of a bottle of wine and soft drinks in the minibar. The buffet breakfast provided close by is simple with a range of fresh and tasty options and great coffee. Easy walk to the station (10 mins) and 5 minutes to a great public pebble beach.
Cons: This is a slightly nitpicking niggle but four quality pillows should be standard with all queen bed configurations, rather than 2 with 1 spare in a cupboard.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quaint little place with a very friendly owner. Clean and comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Moreno made us so welcome. The bottle of wine and cold drinks waiting for us were the icing on the cake. The room was large and beautifully decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. The first night we were able to eat at Moreno’s little restaurant. The food was amazing and so cheap! I would definitely recommend both the accommodation, and the restaurant opposite!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room in a very central location. Spotlessly clean and very generous array of complimentary drinks, wine included also. Lovely buffet breakfast provided - owner could not have been more helpful or kinder.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, wonderful set up, friendly owner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great 3 day stay at this little gem of a place. Moreno is a very friendly host and is always ready to help with your needs. His restaurant, right outside the door is fantastic with simple, authentic and very fresh food. You are treated like family and spoilt with wine and cold drinks waiting for you in the fridge in your room upon your arrival. Thank you Moreno and family from Lynn & Beverley

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gabriele (the owner) was amazing and incredibly helpful, providing us with a map of the city, and excellent restaurant recommendations. The rooftop terrace has a great view of the ocean and is very relaxing! We wished we could have stayed even longer.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: On the high 5th floor (no elevators in this very old building) but the view was wonderful and the owner Gabriele saved the day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner went out of his way to make sure everything was just right and accommodated to whatever we needed. He was totally invested in making our stay great.
Cons: Not anything negative but it was a little hard to find the hotel. You will understand once you get there and see the village. Roads are not clearly marked. I think maybe detailed directions would be helpful to be included in an email.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, lovely patio overlooking the water.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was always present, friendly, and helpful! Great insight to the community: helped arrange for parking (hotel is in pedestrian-only zone) and got us a diner reservation at a place that was ‘full’. Location perfect - walk to everything in old portion of town - shops, beach. Hotel is on Cinque Terre footpath and close to marina; newer portion of town is closer to train station - 10 minute walk.
Cons: Did not know that our room was on the third floor. Complimentary breakfast is graciously served on pretty roof deck, but options limited.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great property. There is one staff is name is Gabriela and he’s amazing - does everything!!! Our room was super comfortable and really big. WiFi was awesome as well. $200 in my opinion is expensive for 1 night but there are not many options in Monterosso! Would definitely stay here again.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was Central location convenient to everything.
Cons: Bed wasn’t most comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So friendly, helpful and clean The boss Gabriele is so dedicated to his guests and the property thank you
Cons: It didn’t worry me but if you don’t like stairs this isn’t for you
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful host
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The recommended one if you want to stay in Monterosso. The staff was so welcoming and pleased to help you. Gabriel took a good care of me throughout 3 nights I stayed. The staff here made me feel safe and secure as I traveled alone. The bed was comfortable. The room was not too small and it comes with an A/C. (very important to me for summer) The location was great, just a few walk to the main beach. The breakfast was nice with the amazing top view of Monterosso. The hotel made my first solo trip in Monterosso memorable! Love it!
Cons: Nothing I didn't like. Maybe just only if the hotel would have the beach view would be amazing hotel!

Pros: Central location.. 50 metres from gelaterias, great restaurants, 100 metres to beach, 500 metres flat walk to train station. Apartment has just been fully renovated and is modern, immaculate. Fair price. Fresh linen and cleaned EVERY day, AMAZING! We emailed our host when we couldnt find it and she immediately met us to show us in. Mattress and linen were 5 star, luxury. Air conditioning was much appreciated :) So many special touches.. Capsule coffee maker, fridge with complimentary drinks and beers, breakfast snacks, shampoo etc provided, complimentary bottle of wine. Our host Odely was warm, engaging, informative and very helpful, but not overbearing. We could not have found a more lovely pad or a better location if we tried We hope to return to Monterosso in future (nicest of the five villages) and will definitely plan to stay at Marymar again.. thank you so much
Cons: Nothing we didn't like, it was perfect :)

Pros: Rooms were spacious, nicely detailed and decorated, and very clean. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Monterosso with easy access to restaurants, shopping, the train station, and other points of interest.
Cons: It was a perfect place for us to stay on our vacation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow, what a fabulous place to stay. My husband and I were greeted and felt very welcome automatically. The room was just like the pictures, very clean, and comfortable. Air conditioning was on point, very good!! We had been traveling for 2 weeks around Italy, and both of us were thinking we need to clean our clothes. The wonderful woman who owns the place was like a mind reader. Before we even could ask about where to go, she offered to clean our clothes, and also gave us a bottle of wine in our room. Wow!!! Above and beyond service. So nice!!! Thank you fir the fabulous stay!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great! Amazing location, a small but nice breakfast provided, beach towels provided, friendly check in, plenty of room, comfortable bed, clean and modern bathroom with toiletries and hair dryer, coffee machine, kettle and tea provided.
Cons: Nothing really to dislike, it was all great. Small suggestion would be for body wash and conditioner. Also for environmental reasons it would be good if they used refillable large bottles instead of the small single use ones. Also a pen would have been handy for postcards but otherwise it was the best stay and we loved it!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food & great location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Il Parco exceeded all expectations. Marta and her parents were so so friendly and accommodating. The checkin and checkout process was seamless and the breakfast service was superb! The room and property itself was impeccable - the view incredible. Location was ideal, only a 10-15 minute walk down into town with taxi service throughout the day too. Seriously, everything was amazing!
Cons: Nothing - everything was great!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location close to town but on a qiet road. Beatiful, well-kept garden with wonderful views. Cost breakfast terrace with superb freshly cooked omellet.
Cons: Beds short (190 cm) and a bit hard. Selection of tea (black) could be better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was wonderful. Great staff. Very helpful.
Cons: All was great.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The pick up service was nice.
Cons: The room was close to some sort of road so there were lights shining through. Also, the place is in Monterosso I rather would stay in Vernazza- next time I am there. I did not travel to CT for a beach which is the main attraction for Monterosso.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: we loved our six night stay at bnb il parco! the property is everything you could ask for and the staff made our experience so memorable! we was lucky enough to have a room with a garden with views all over the cliffs to the sea. i don’t know how they manage to keep their gardens so perfect but somehow the gardens throughout the b&b are literally so perfect they look fake (they’re not). the breakfast is so lovely, i personally could not have wished for a more perfect selection - you can order omelettes as well as having an extensive italian theme breakfast buffet with such fresh meats, fruits and pastries. martha (one of the hosts) went out of her way to come and get us from the train station and take us up to the b&b upon check in and even sent us a little welcome pack with recommendations, map and shuttle times. the b&b have a super handy free shuttle service but the walk from the town to the b&b is no longer than 10 minutes - i guess it just depends how much your feet are hurting from exploring! :) we could not have picked a better hotel and we have both said if we come back to the cinqueterre we wouldn’t stay anywhere else. the staff are so polite, friendly, helpful and always greeting their guests with a smile! thank you b&b il parco for a perfect week.
Cons: not applicable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a delightful retreat Il Parco was. Marta and her family were wonderful hosts. The facilities were immaculate, clean and modern with beautiful gardens. The view was spectacular from our balcony and at breakfast. Worth the effort to get up the hill, which we didn’t have to do very often as they also provided a shuttle service, which was great. Last welcoming touch was they pay the tourist tax on behalf of their guests! Definitely recommend II Parco

Pros: Excellent views, breakfast, location and service. Will stay again.

Pros: We were allowed to check in early which was a great bonus. Our host was very welcoming. Room was new and clean. The location is in old town so there are many restaurants and shops within a few minutes walk. The station is less than 10 minutes. We had a very early departure so can comment on the breakfast, but were given takeway sandwiches which were very welcome. All in all a lovely stay.

Pros: Greatly exceeded expectations - a real gem. The host was there for us every step of the way, and helped arrange taxis as we had far too much luggage. The room was spotless, and there was a brand new elevator to help take luggage to higher floors.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice rooms, friendly host.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We really liked Gabriela the owner/manager. Very friendly and helpful. The little room was sweet and humble with a “nautical “theme. It was very clean. We loved the coffee the little machine provided. The location is great in the “old town” and 5 minutes from the beach where there is a little “free “section if you don’t need to buy chairs and umbrellas and just want a quick jump in the sea. The room is close by so you don’t need to take anything down to the beach with you other than your towel (just wear your key in a secure high quality waterproof pouch tucked under your bathing suit so you don’t lose it in the waves). There is a wonderful bakery nearby and an excellent seafood restaurant (sounds sort of like Eldardo) Gabriele will recommend). There is a great little elevator to use and the owner will help you with your luggage on arrival.
Cons: We loved it but here is just a fact:A storm had knocked out our phone maps function so it was challenging to find the street (the names are way up high on the sides of the buildings) eventually we had to ask a worker leaving her shift at a restaurant who barely understood our English but actually walked with us to the corner of the correct street. Bring the smallest amount of carry -on luggage you can as you will be pulling it all the way from the train station over bumpy (and crowded) streets. This is not a complaint at all - just a fact that you have to be in reasonable shape to enjoy your visit. The room only has one chair - it is nice to have 2 with a tiny table for having coffee or a drink - some would find it small - I kind of liked its humble appeal myself, but we were only there 2 nights.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was excellent, very informative and friendly Highly recommend this place
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was fabulous and the rooms were well equipped and comfortable, and very clean. It was totally charming and Gabrielle the owner was very helpful. He treated us like visiting family and made sure we had everything we needed. I would love to stay there again!

Pros: The room itself is gorgeous! Very modern and stylized beautifully. Anna greeted us upon our arrival and is very friendly and lovely. The cleaning staff goes above and beyond and it was such a treat coming back to a totally clean and organized room after a day at the beach or sightseeing. The bed is VERY comfortable and everything is perfect. The location is absolutely ideal, just a 2 min walk from the beach and main strip. Feels like a very safe area. WHEN we come back, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

7.5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: No reception
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This property is about a 12 minute walk from train station. The last two blocks have a very gradual grade but on smooth pavement so we had no problem making our way with luggage. Anna had sent us directions and she met us outside the building. There is no elevator so you will have to carry luggage to the first floor. The room is totally renovated and very modern. Bed was super comfortable and the linens were all high quality. Air conditioner worked perfectly fine and there is a fridge and kettle in the room. Anna stocked the fridge with two each of water, juice and coke. The second day she left a bottle of Prosecco and two glasses for us. Tea and coffee also provided. Bathroom is unusually large and modern with a large walk in shower. The closet is also large and high tech with lighting and plenty of storage. MiaChi is in the new town and closest to the sandiest part of the beach. As you go towards the old town it is much more like pebbles than sand. Lots of restaurants to choose from as well as grocery stores. Old town is 15 minute walk, easy to get to and explore or go for dinner. We loved Monterosso and because it offers Beach and is spread out on even ground, we were really happy with the general accessibility of everything.
Cons: Nothing to complain about, everything was A+.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All is beautiful.

7.1 Good
Cons: There is no elevator and the stairs were steep and difficult to bring luggage up
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located in a prime location on Via Roma in the old Monterosso al Mare, it’s is close to all the good restaurants, beaches and just a 10 minute walk from the train station. The rooms are beautifully designed with comfy bed, large wardrobe, beach towels some olive oil shampoo and a larger then expected bathroom. Rooms are also cleaned every morning. Communication with the host was great and on meeting him he was full of chat with great advice and couldn’t do enough for us. Will stay here again when I return to Cinque Terre as we enjoyed our stay and had no issues.
Cons: Not to much not to like, just travel light as there is no lift and also you need to keep your eyes open or you will walk by the main door.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Above average sized room for Europe. Large awesome shower. Great view. Great location. And we were met by Lorenzo co-owner who was extremely amicable and helpful to begin our stay there.
Cons: The wine bar below (not run by Bellambra property owners) was OK, with a good wine bar but less than satisfactory service (in regards to speed and attitude. Again this is not run by Bellambra ownership—I really wish they would run it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Central location, clean and spacious rooms. Great host.
Cons: The mattress was a little hard for me
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice & cosy. Bed is comfy. Location is away from the beach but easy access to eateries & if you plan to shop for souvenirs.
Cons: Mosquitoes in the room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property was way bigger than we needed, website stated bed & sofa bed. We had 3 bedrooms & a kitchen. Website showed view of the sea which made us think that the place had an ocean view and that was why the cost was so high.. alas, no ocean view from Bellambra! Check in was easy but brief, no real explanation of the area, but we managed just fine! The bed was comfortable, the shower was adequate size and breakfast was convenient in the restaurant downstairs & good selection of tasty food & cappuccino! Would definitely visit Monterosso again!
Cons: Poorly represented on website.. we paid for a large space that we really didn’t need!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location in town was close to most everything. The breakfast was a traditional European breakfast with sliced meat, crescents, fresh fruit and cereal.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located in old town. Double glazing kept out street noise.

Pros: We stayed here for our honeymoon, and we were not disappointed! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! It was convenient to be able to buy a day pass for the train in the hotel, as well. To top it all off the breakfast was really good with freshly cooked eggs as an option. We absolutely loved our stay here and would stay again!

Pros: Wonderful Hosts at Locanda Il Maestrale - Giovanni & Stefania were friendly and responsive. Loved staying in ‘Old Town’! Easy 10 minute walk from the train station. Perfect location for exploring Cinque Terre & the Riviera Towns. Close to the beaches - 5 min walk. (Hosts provided a beach bag with beach towels). Lots of restaurants and shops right outside your door. Stayed in the Manarola room. Very clean with comfortable king size bed. Great shower with lots of hot water and excellent water pressure. Fridge stocked with water - no charge (tap water is drinkable in Italy but nice to have the bottles for day trips). Juice/beer also stocked in fridge with prices as per menu. Daily maid service included clean towels as needed. (Thanks Connie)! Fabulous rooftop terrace where we had breakfast every morning (with fresh squeezed orange juice)! Stefania & Giovanni also put out complimentary daily afternoon fruit, snacks & coffee/tea. We had access to the roof top terrace at any time and enjoyed our evenings up there with a bottle of wine. Giovanni helped us get the Cinque Terre train & trekking pass ($16 euro per person for one day) for unlimited train rides & trekking. The cars also gets you free access to the toilets at the train stations. We did the hike from Monterosso Al Mar to Vernazza. Spectacular views during this 1 hr 15 min walk. We did this on a Saturday, it was busy on the trails and insanely busy on the trains. Recommend getting an early start to avoid the crush of tourists. Loved visiting all the towns of Cinque Terre. Corniglia is up higher from the ocean. The weather was very hot so we took the free shuttle immediately after you get off the train (or alternatively you can take the steep 25 minute walk up to the town). We did a beautiful late afternoon sunset hike to the top of the hill in Monterosso and saw the church of San Francesco. Castle ruins and a cemetery. The views were incredible.

Pros: Fantastic place to stay right in the heart of Monterosso. Family run and excellent hospitality and overall very highly recommended

Pros: The property is family owned but don’t let that bother you, cause wow they really know how to look after guests.

Pros: We loved everything about our stay! We were greeted warmly by Stefania at check-in. We stayed in a suite with the loft & enjoyed having a comfortable sitting area. Everything was super clean, the bed was comfortable, we loved the pillows, the bathroom was modern & sparkling. We enjoyed breakfast & also snacks available later in the day. Giovanni was a wonderful host each morning at breakfast (tasty cappuccino) and the terrace is a beautiful place to begin the morning, as well as to relax after a day of hiking. Giovanni gave us great advice about hiking the Cinque Terre and helped us get our tickets for the park. The location is perfect & we will definitely stay here again when we return to this area!

Pros: Very friendly host. Amazing position across the road from the free beach. Easy walk to old Town and all attractions. The room is so much nicer than the photos! The shared deck is gorgeous and had an amazing view. It's only shared between the 2 rooms and we had it to ourselves the whole time
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing View. Great location. Sound of sea was a treat. Manuel was extremely gracious during check in. Pleased to find small fridge and coffee maker that was not listed as included
Cons: Nothing I can think of
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view from the shared balcony was absolutely stunning. My room was extremely clean, even though right near the station the noise wasn't to bad.I was able to walk around until late at night and feel safe and comfortable. I dont like firm pillows but thats my only negative.
Cons: I think maybe a heavier curtain in the room, across from the room was another place,I didn't like getting dressed there so I dressed in the bathroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The amazing balcony in front of the sea. Probably the best view room in whole town. The owner was very polite he explained us everything about the Cinque Terre to have an enjoyable day.
Cons: Old fashioned room maybe needs a little bit renovation No elevator in the building
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and the view! No breakfast but the restaurant on the water had breakfast sandwiched for $2.50 and champagne for $3 and cappacino for $2.50!
Cons: I loved everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is the best you can find in Monterosso. Waking up every morning to look out at the water and literally 10 steps to the beach. Couldn’t have asked for more
Cons: Nothing, it suited us perfect. It is on the third floor with no elevator access (which is well advertised) so for kids/people with large amount of luggage it could be difficult but we didn’t find it a problem
6.3 Good
Pros: Close to the beach with a sea view
Cons: Very close to train station so extremely noisy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The views were amazing, so close to the train station, beaches, amenities. Our host was spectacular and more than helpful with advice about all of Cinque Terre.
Cons: Only down side is no breakfast, but the property size/setup hardly allows for it. Besides, it’s so close to multiple places to eat. Some may not like the closeness to the station, but the trains don’t go by too late in the night and since we were backpacking we preferred to be close to the train.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location- nice sized room
Cons: Had no idea this wasn’t a hotel- just 2 rooms in an apartment block
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great and place was very clean. Manuel was very nice and his hospitality was greatly appreciated.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazing. You're surrounded by lemon and olive trees. Fredericka is so lovely and gave us a bottle of home made limoncello. The room was gorgeous with a balcony overlooking the vineyards and mountains. Everything was so clean and the mini bar is free. Breakfast was good. waking up here wad the perfect start to each day! Loved it
Cons: It is a tough slog to get up that mountain. You need to be semi fit.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Can’t recommend Le Giare highly enough. Immaculate, well presented room, in a beautiful location nestled in the hill above Monterosso’s new town. The staff were friendly, and happy to answer questions about the Cinque Terre and recommend good places to eat. They also offered a taxi service to/from the station, which I didn’t need actually, because it’s only a 10-15 minute walk from the train station (though it is quite hilly!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Modest but extremely clean and spacious room A very quiet and super pretty location; a place to sit peacefully outside while having breakfast Friendly and accommodating staff Air conditioning Close to the newer part of Monterosso: a 10-minute walk up/down a steep hill Monterosso is stunning!
Cons: I wasn't prepared for the steep walk up the hill with my bags upon arrival; without bags, it's not a problem. Recommend making arrangements for a ride to the place upon arrival, if you foresee a problem with lugging bags (otherwise, it's just good exercise!).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely calm real Italian boutique lodging - much nicer than the hectic places on the beach
Cons: Small bathroom especially shower but that was the only thing that wasn’t perfect

Pros: Charming. Great location

Pros: The staff went out of their way to be sure we were comfortable and accommodated..The location provided a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the tourist zone. A bus stop near the entrance of the complex made the 4 minute commute down the hilline just a matter of paying attention to schedules and buying a multi-day pass
Cons: We were not able to stay longer

We drove so it couldn't have been more convenient!
Cons: Nothing at all :D

Pros: The property was nice. Clean rooms with enough space for our family of 4. Overall, we were happy with this property.
Cons: We travelled as a family with 2 fairly tall teenage kids and the bunk bed arrangement did not work the best for us. Also, the hotel is adjacent to the railway tracks so it shakes a bit when a train passes, but it did not disturb our sleeping.

Pros: The staff was amazing who assisted us with our luggages up the stairs!
Cons: Rooms are quite small, which should be the norm.

Pros: Thoughtful host, very nice decor, great suggestions on where to eat etc. Loved being near the beach. Very CLEAN room:)

Pros: Great location and Maria was very helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room our host Maria was so helpful and gave us a very special cake to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary
Cons: Nothing it was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Modern apartment with stylish furniture, beach towels, very friendly host who gave a lot of good advices
Cons: The apartment is located in a residential multi-party house. I am not sure if this is good as it might led to very high rents for locals (as in Barcelona for example) - but this is more of a general political discussion, than really related to this wonderful apartment
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect as it is situated a little bit out of the middle but close enough that everything is a short walk.
Cons: Bed was a little hard for me but that's personal preference I guess :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, well furnished, comfortable, excellent amenities. And did we say clean? We hope to stay here again on our next visit.
Cons: Nothing at all to dislike. AMAZING stay.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was beautifully updated. Very nicely done. Coffee and a few drinks were always available in the room free of charge. Location is fantastic. The room is up the hill from the beach but the walk was not difficult at all. There is a balcony that overlooks the main street that goes up the hill, but it is just past the main area of activity so you could see down the street but noise was not an issue.
Cons: We stayed in the junior suite. The primary bed is at one end of the room and is separated by a partial wall (does not go all the way to the ceiling and ends about 2/3 of the way across the room). It was very nice, but for some reason, the air conditioning does not reach it as well as the other end of the room so it was always warmer than the rest of the space. In order to make it cooler we would have had to freeze out our kids who were sleeping at the other end. We were there during a heat wave so perhaps that contributed. I downloaded WhatsApp when we were taken to the room because it was recommended as the best way to communicate. I had never used it preciously. Check-out time was 10:30 am but we got a knock at the door at 10:00am. It was the property manager asking if we were ready to leave. Apparently, I had been sent a WhatsApp message at 8:00pm the night before asking if we could vacate the room at 10:00 am due to new guests arriving. Since I had just downloaded the app, I had not made sure notifications were turned on and I missed the message. This was my fault, but I was a little taken aback that someone showed up at our door to ask us leave. We, of course, were not ready so we left at 10:31a and at that time there was no one from the property around so we left the key and headed out. Both of these issues were small inconveniences, but overall, it is a lovely property and we would recommend it.

Pros: The quiet ambiance and view, as well as hospitality of the hosts Marie and Davide. Shuttle service to Monterroso is convenient and reasonably priced.
7.5 Good
Pros: nice view, good size room
Cons: small bath with no vent, no A/C
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Marie and David were fantastic hosts. Breakfast was superb and very generous, not something often found in Italy. They offer a transport service into town which is essential as parking is very limited. Beautiful view from terrace, very nice to have breakfast there.
Cons: Nothing at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An amazing property above Monterosso, with amazing views over the water. Just high enough above the town to be away from the crowds but close enough to be convenient. On-demand rides to and from the town by phone were both extremely convenient and very appreciated. Also possible to walk to town, and very near the start of the hiking trails. The room itself was classic and tasteful, very clean and well kept. The deck where breakfast is served is a great place to start the day with a view. Breakfast itself was delicious, with eggs, crepes, homemade jams, cheese and ham. Davide and Marie are amazing hosts - warm, accommodating and open to sharing. We had a great time, can only hope to return (perhaps during a less crowded time of the year).
Cons: Nothing at all - but as Davide suggested, perhaps avoid the July / August peak months.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, friendly owners — truly an idyllic spot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were amazing. Great breakfast. The view from the terrace is perfect for sipping wine. Being a bit out of town (but not too far) where it was a bit more quiet and less crowded was great.
Cons: Proximity to other guests can be a bit tight depending on your room and other bookings, but that's not unusual for a B and B.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Marie and David were wonderful hosts and did everything to make our stay fantastic. Their property is like the Garden of Eden, the rooms lovely and extremely clean and the views are fantastic, breakfast was outstanding and their location was not at all a problem because of their service to drop us down to the top of town. A great place to stay!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Big room, quiet, comfortable bed, very nice owner, very helpful. The garden is beautiful with all the fruits and flowers. Breakfast was very good too and we could eat outside, enjoying the view. Shuttle service to town is convenient.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was incredible! The setting was unforgettable!!! The hosts are sweet, kind and so very accommodating! They answered so many of our questions ahead of time, offered transportation to and from the town for a very small fee and when our booked boat tour fell through, they immediately found us a replacement that turned out better than our original one!!!
Cons: There was absolutely nothing to dislike!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Can't say enough about this BnB. We loved the view, the terrace, cleanliness, decor, location, customer service, and food. We fell in love with the view of the ocean from our room and from the terrace. Sadly, we only booked 2 nights to enjoy this peaceful place. Maria, the hostess, went above and beyond with make sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast was outstanding, We would not hesitate to book this place again.
Cons: It was a little difficult to find, but well worth it. Even using latitude and longitude on the GPS, it took us to the wrong place.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Albergo Al Carugio in Monterosso al Mare (Borgo Antico), you'll be a 4-minute walk from Monterosso Beach and 5 minutes by foot from Cinque Terre Marine Protected Area.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality by Andrea and the best local tips!!! He made our stay extra special! Good location in main street but away from the big crowds (which we liked) Nice bed, good shower and clean room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There really aren't any facilities and for the price, breakfast should be included but this is Italy and it does not often work that way. That said, the location was okay depending on if being a bit away from the train station is okay with you. The room size acceptable, the staff quite good and Monterosso quite nice.
Cons: Everything was expected although if you have a heavy suitcase it is a long walk from the station.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely place to stay with Andrea a wonderful host. He helped make our stay for 2 days a memorable experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. Close to dining and other recreation areas. Andrea is an excellent host. He went way out of his way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Albergo was fantastic- location was a bit a way from the main drag (so noise wasn't an issue) the room was exceptionally clean and well-maintained and the owner, Andrea, is so helpful, friendly and genuinely interested in us as visitors, and a font of very useful information (especially regarding hiking from town to town). We would recommend the Albergo to stay
Cons: The only downside for the two of us was that the room was on the small side for us. (room 6). we did peek at the other rooms and those were larger than the one we stayed in. This isn't a "dislike" but there are a set a stairs to get to the hotel and while Andrea carried our baggage, the steps may be a physical challenge for some.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host, Andrea, was great and gave really helpful tips for around Monterosso. It is in a great location in Monterosso, very close to restaurants and the beach. Room is good too, nothing fancy but exactly what we expected based on the photos.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Andrea was very helpful with everything with all the inormation and places to eat and see
Cons: Nothing to dislike
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Andrea was a FANTASTIC host and was so helpful...it's not on the beach, but the walk wasn't too far and the location is quiet and not even a minute from the restaurants and shops. I don't usually spend time to write reviews, but my fiance and I were so impressed with Andrea that we really wanted to make sure to recommend Albergo Al Carugio to anyone needing a place to stay in Cinque Terre. I'm so glad we found this place and would definitely stay again!
Cons: Bathroom was a tad small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a wonderful stay at albergo al curugio! Andrea was amazing, he was so lovely and informative about everything from where to eat, getting to the other villages and just everything! The room had everything you need for a comfortable stay! Would definitely recommend to anyone who’s thinking of staying in Monterosso!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, beautiful room, felt like we had the balconies to ourselves. Delicious breakfast, especially chocolate croissants. Host assisted with luggage.
Cons: Shower doors were a bit flimsy. Steep steps, though good workout, and worth the view from the balcony.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was wonderful and exceeded expectations. The room was comfortable, and the terrace view was a nice bonus! The hospitality shown by Mario was also very much appreciated. It is amazing how a host's welcoming attitude and willingness to provide some effort into the check-in process makes such a difference. He also owns a local wine shop, so he is available for any unexpected needs. Thanks Mario! My family and I truly enjoyed our Cinque Terre experience in large part due to your great place and help!
Cons: Having to leave was the worst part.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is beautiful! Clean, airy, spacious, it is lovely to come back to each night. There is another level above the room where you can make yourself coffee or tea and sit up on the balcony looking out over the village and literally feel above all the noise and tourists below. The breakfast is about two minutes away in a little wine shop and is lovely. Beautiful fresh pastries, meats, breads and even muesli and fruit as well as lovely coffee. Definitely a “find” in Monterosso. If this one is booked out, look for Marco’s other rooms. They are also in a perfect location.... this one is a 2-5 minute walk from the tunnel and wharf and very easy to find.
Cons: The only thing you need to be cautious about are the stairs. They are exceptionally steep and if you have bad knees, hips or ankles (or very unfit and unable to climb three sets of stairs), then this isn’t the place for you. Marco will help you up with your luggage when you arrive which is the hardest bit anyway. It’s worth the effort though in my opinion. The exercise will do you good!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My stay was superb. Room was clean and in a great location in the heart of Monterosso. The view from the terrace is amazing. About 5 minutes walk to the beach and to the train station. Breakfast was very good. A type of small buffet with several options such as yogurt, cold cuts, boiled eggs, cereal, bread, pattiseries etc. Mario was extremely helpful. Great host. Would recommend this to anyone.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mario was a gracious host! The room was beautiful, well decorated. Air conditioning was perfect for 90deg days. The rooftop terrace was a perfect way to welcome the morning or round out the evening. 10minute walk to the train station and right in the middle of old town, the location couldn't have been better. We look forward to staying there again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Central location in old town. Friendly owner Exclusive use of rooftop terrace Nicely presented rooms
Cons: Stairs may challenge some
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed is very comfortable, lot of pillows to choose from. Roof terrace and complementary coffee and tea with snacks is amazing. One can sip wine and listen to the live music downstairs on the street during the evening; greet the sun during the morning. Good breakfast in wine shop some steps away from guesthouse.
Cons: We made reservation for triple room, but ended up in double as there was some booking system error.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a treat it was to stay here :) It might be an almighty climb to get up to the room and the roof terrace - but boy is it worth it! Such a comfortable, stylish, spotlessly clean & well-appointed room - with an amazing roof terrace with snacks and coffee available - and such an amazing view. We loved walking down to the wine shop each morning to sit outside for breakfast (be sure to return at lunch-time for the delicious bruschetta and a glass of local wine) - and we completely fell in love with Monterosso. Mario could not have been a more welcoming host - he even carried both of our suitcases up all the stairs when we arrived - what a hero! We didn't want to leave... it was perfect!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This has a fantastic location and all that we needed.
Cons: We would have loved a mirror in the room (or a lower one in the bathroom).
7.5 Good
Pros: Our host Mario was very helpful and efficient . I was impressed that he could carry my heavy suitcase and my daughters big backpack up 4 flights of narrow stairways to and from our room .We loved our stay and our access to the rooftop terrace . If I go back I would like to stay in his apartment nearby as there are no stairways . Thankyou so much MArio
Cons: The 4 level narrow stairway

Cons: Asked to bill on 2 separate credit cards and was told it could be done at check out, but billing went through as soon as we checked in. At breakfast went to dining area and was told we could not sit down for buffet and were taken to covered outdoor eating area.

Pros: Hotel is conveniently located a 5+ minute walk from the central parking in Monterosso. Even with suitcases it wasn't bad. We had trouble finding the garage at first, and a quick phone call to the Hotel fixed that--she pointed us in the right direction. Check in was a breeze, they had all of our information on file. They have a lift, always a bonus in Italy. Rooms were bright, clean and comfortable. We were traveling with my parents and my mother has bad claustrophobia (not great in Italy...) and wanted a different room with more windows-- not a problem at all, they showed her a couple of other rooms and they moved. They also have a great outdoor space upstairs, overlooking the whole town and the Mediterranean. We brought wine up there at night. Location is great-- quick walk to restaurants, etc. Train station is probably a 10 min walk-- it's in the northern part of Monterosso. We took the train to Manarola to watch the sunset.

Pros: Rooftop terraced garden was unbelievable- amazing views of sea and village, with tables, chairs and lounge chairs & beautiful plants and flowers and olives trees- you could walk up to different levels. Great and filling breakfast that would last me to dinner! Staff very helpful with local info and recommendations. Also it was great to have front desk staffed until midnight or so and that you could store luggage
