Pros: Alain & Isabelle were the best and most lovely hosts ever! Their castle is pretty remarkable for its history, art and culture. Upon request, they prepared a wonderful home-made dinner of pheasant terrine, scallops and the best creme brûlée. Breakfast was marvellous too. They made us feel like family and new friends. We hope to be back soon! Tip: Use Google maps as Waze brought us behind the chateau into the woods instead of to the entrance.
Pros: One of the absolute highlights of my latest trip to France! Alain and Isabelle are gracious, welcoming, effortless hosts. A stay here is much more like being a house guest than being in a hotel, and as such it's a beautiful window into French life and hospitality. We arrived in the evening, were showed to our room and welcomed down for aperitifs in the "small room" which turned out to be a cozy reception room where we met the other guests and were served a little tartiflette and champagne before being invited through to the candle lit, wood paneled dining room with places set ready for guests and hosts around a large table. Dinner was spectacular: Pate, ham and bread, followed by ratatouille, glazed ham and vegetables. All served with wine to suit, of course. A little cheese to follow, then a parfait dessert with a delicious berry coulis. It wasn't fancy or pretentious; it was just great food in an idyllic setting with good company. Breakfast was similarly lovely, with the typical continental choice. In the morning we were treated to a tour of the grounds, which included a visit to their 400 year old magic tree which has a face if you look hard. Legend has it if you touch him, close your eyes and make a wish, he will lend you his energy and give you good fortune in achieving what you wished for. The stables are worth seeing - a stunning three story building in itself - where they keep a couple of friendly white cart horses. There's also a little Chapel with incredible acoustics where artists sometimes exhibit. We were invited to see the archive and reading rooms upstairs where documents from the construction and life of the chateau are kept; apparently its quite unusual to have so much dating back so far. The library on the first floor is gorgeous, and, of course, there's a secret passage if you look hard enough...
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
Pros: We loved the excellent hospitality & terrific authentic castle. The hostess made us a wonderfull diner dining together with us with a bottle of good red wine (She ofered to open a bottle of Champagne but we prefered good red wine). In the morning my wife was taken to a lovly tour in her organuc veg. garden. We loved evry minit in the place. We were very soprised to find the autentic decoration andautentic picture on the walls. Wonderfull.
Pros: As soon as we arrived we were treated like family. We were treated to champagne and light bites with Alain and Isabelle and another guest. We were then brought to the beautiful dining room for a delicious home made meal accompanied by red or white wine. After dinner we were taken for a walk in the woods to see the beautiful surrounds of the chateau. In the morning after a lovely breakfast with Alain we were taken on a historic tour of the chatea. All in all an amazing experience which we would highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing that we did not like.
Pros: The hospitality was very good, nothing was too much trouble, we were very well looked after. The property was amazing.
Pros: The castle was wonderful, far from villages, close to a wood, on a meadow. Alain and Isabelle were so friendly and perfect hosts. Wonderful halls and rooms, and two lovely Cocker Spaniel dogs wondering around and trying to be petted
Pros: Chateau full of history, scenic, amazing & picturesque
Pros: Beautifully located in tranquil grounds, this wonderful chateau offers something unique. It has all the character of a fairy tale chateau, with hosts who are incredibly friendly and relaxed. Isabel and Alain couldn’t have been better hosts, offering excellent breakfasts and wonderful evening meals which they share with you and any other guests around a huge table with wonderful conversation and food. The rooms are huge, with lovely antique furniture and give a real insight into life in a chateau. Our bedroom was glorious and enormous. The bathroom had plenty of hot water and towels. You are welcomed as friends and I would love to return.
Cons: We loved everything. Don’t expect a chateau to be pristine, with ceilings that high you may be lucky enough to see a hidden cobweb, but this is part of the charm of a real life chateau.
Pros: The place was like a fairy castle. Very ancient and kept to a high standard. Lovely scenery. Food was home made and delicious. Owners were exceptionally kind and welcoming
Pros: everything was great! thanks!

Pros: Sylvie was very helpful and made us a great breakfast. Her recommendations for sites and restaurants was great. We had a wonderful room.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful hostess. Beautiful garden and very comfortable.
Cons: No places to eat open in the town that night. Short distance to an excellent eating place but we needed to drive. No problem for us but may affect others not wanting to drive. Coffee in thermos. Fresh would have been nice.
Pros: Breakfast was great. Amazing hospitality and owner was exceptionally accommodating of my inability to effectively communicate in French. Wonderful stay.
Pros: Huge room and comfy bed. Simple but good quality breakfast, home made jams and cakes.
Cons: Lovely large garden, but not much garden furniture to enjoy it on a hot evening.
Pros: The welcome from the owners was ace, the room and the ensuite and the garden.
Cons: The poorly lit hallway.
Pros: Massive room on 2nd floor. Nice views out of the windows. Friendly and helpful host. Great value. Nice breakfast.
Cons: Currently, Montsurs offers limited eating choices in the evening. Though this is no fault of this lovely guest house! Short car drive to nearby alternatives.
Pros: The atad, the dom and the enviroment
Cons: No prived parking
With a stay at Le Relais Du Gué De Selle in Mezangers, you'll be 5.1 mi (8.2 km) from Jublains Roman Village and 18.4 mi (29.7 km) from Caves of Saulges. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: lovely situation, great room, for which we paid extra, good evening meal if a little expensive for the standard. The breakfast let the whole thing down, only cooled food offered was boiled egg and the egg machine did not work, first egg did not cook, second was hard boiled after machine had been taken to pieces, far easier to cook an egg in the kitchen. I would return but try and negotiation a dinner b&b rate as we paid more than we expected.
Pros: The peace and quiet the total lack
Cons: The lack of restaurant facilities on Sunday evening and all day Monday.
Pros: The setting was stunning
Cons: Interior was a bit tired and the food was average.
Pros: The location is beautiful with the lake out back and the gardens are really nice
Cons: I would have liked an enclosed shower in my bathroom. I only had a bathtub with a hand held shower head - not ideal.
Pros: The restaurant is excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is lovely on the lake.
Cons: Room was very average - dated and poor value. Pool was out of action and clearly been that way for some time. This is a big issue in my view and should be addressed asap. Wifi didnt work well outside reception.
Pros: The hotel is excellently located with a beautiful lake behind it that provides a lovely walk around it's perimeter - about 3.7 Km. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant is above average.
Pros: Restaurant in the hotel was amazing. Very cheap but great facilities including an outdoor pool. Located right on a lake with rentable water sports/bikes/pedalos etc. Great for running, hiking etc. Staff helpful and kind. I speak no French and they were very helpful.
Pros: Calm and quite!!
Cons: Clean the toilet is very important!!!!!!
Pros: A very clean and comfortable hotel in a quiet location off the main travel throughways (autoroutes). Near to lots to see and do in the Mayenne, a very pretty area. Great restaurant with a good breakfast and options for dinner. We had dinner one night which was very nice, well presented, and great value considering the high quality. The hotel location is near wonderful small towns and right near a recreation site with water and beach options but just distant enough to not be impacted by the recreation site. There is lovely walking options right outside the door. Very clean modern bathroom with spotless shower and good water pressure plus clean and very comfy bed. An historical building with a very modern renovated interior done just like the French do so well. Very helpful staff. Excellent stay.
Cons: Nothing really. It was a really nice stay. Fantastic value.
When you stay at Logis Hotel Restaurant Croix Verte in Neau, you'll be 14 minutes by car from Jublains Roman Village.
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and had obviously been updated. The food was good. There is only a little parking immediately outside the Hotel which was full when we arrived. We had to park down another road and got rather wet carrying our bags back to the Hotel.
Cons: The bedroom although clean, needed a complete refurbishment, very dated. The showered was just a trickle of water!!
