Cons: No elevators so bringing luggage up was difficult. Air con was poor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This seemed almost brand new and was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially the morning breakfast manager. The breakfast had every option you can imagine. We definitely enjoyed having real maple syrup after having been to a sugar farm and learning all about it the day before.
Cons: They don't have a elevator in a two floor hotel, however when I said this could be a problem for my 85 year old mother and her 75 year old friend, our rooms were moved to the first floor, and they still got us right across the hall from each other.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, close to the highway and restaurants nearby.
6.8 Good
Pros: Very unprofessional comment made to me as I was checking in- front desk attendant, Samuel advised me that I was one minute early checking in. I work in customer service in the dental field for 40 yrs.... if I had spoken this type of comment to a dental patient, I would have been written up and possibly terminated. It was not welcoming or necessary and it made my husband and I say to each other that we will not ever stay in this facility again. Nor would we recommend it to friends or family
Cons: The unwelcoming comment made by front desk attendant, Samuel—- see notes above——

Cons: I wish the lobby would have had menus or information about local site seeing. Given info when asked but would have been nice if available.

Pros: Cleanliness & location
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Sometimes you get better value and service in a "mom and pop" motel instead of a chain....this was one of those times. Older rooms, but very clean, and you could tell owners took pride in the accommodations they offered. Mattress was good. Everything was working. Loved the blue bath fixtures!!

Cons: Air conditioner was noisy
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The space with clean and large, including a living area and kitchenette. There was a bedroom with a queen sized bed and a pull out couch in the living area.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms have great character
Cons: Parking for the rooms is in the same area as the restaurant so if you get in late you may have difficulty with parking.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This place was unexpectedly cool and comfortable. The bed, bathroom and kitchenette were fantastic. Rooms/suites are on 2nd floor; restaurant is in the 1st floor, and a Speakeasy/lounge in the basement. When we arrived, we were a leery because you enter through the restaurant and speak to one of the hostess/servers (?).. but after that, everything was great!! The 2-bay firehouse holds a lot of memorabilia from the Barre Fire Dept and other areas: pictures, stories, etc. Our dinner at the restaurant was good and reasonably priced; service was great-friendly! We were in the Captain’s suite; the bed was sooo comfortable, the room and bathroom wonderfully decorated and the kitchenette was stocked with dishes, glasses, etc. We would absolutely stay here again!! Love that the building is still a tribute to an amazing group of first-responders. I ha
Cons: It wasn’t clear where to enter the building. The settee/2-person ‘sofa’ in the room was slightly uncomfortable.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food in the Ladder restaurant was delicious and very reasonably priced.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is an old firehouse, with a very good restaurant on the lower level and four rooms on the upper level. It was very quaint, clean and comfortable.
Cons: There is no sign where guests are supposed to check in (in the restaurant which has a different name than the Inn). They did not receive or see notice of our reservation made earlier in the day, so it took them some time to check us in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent and has to be one of the quietest I have had.
Cons: Maybe some tissues in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. The room was absolutely gorgeous. All the work that was done to create the rooms was done to a high level. You can see clear attention to detail and a huge effort to preserve the original woodwork. Then everything brought in from cabinets to sinks are all high quality and all coordinate well with the older decor. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Loved the little history lessons left throughout the room. Really cant say enough about how beautiful the everything is from the restaurant to our room.
Cons: You need to check in at the restaurant. Not a big deal at all just a clearer heads up on that would have been nice. The staff was awesome from check in to check out
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Having a wonderful restaurant right downstairs! Loved the brick walls and firefighter memorabilia. The restaurant staff checked us in, made sure we Were comfortable in our room and waited on us for dinner.

Cons: Dark and very dingy...steep stairs to carry heavy suitcases and no help available
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Inn itself, bed and location were all perfect.
Cons: Only disappointment was the continental breakfast which was minimal. We went out to breakfast the 2nd morning instead. We had also called a few days ahead to see if we could get in our room an hour early and they said unequivocally no, but when we arrived, the room was actually ready. That would have been nice to know ahead of time.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Love the area and the Inn is just beautiful! Breakfast was just enough. There isn't hot food (you could have toast or a muffin) so be aware of that, but it didn't matter to us because there was plenty of hot coffee that was delicious. Cons: The bed was just a bit saggy this time. I've stayed before and would stay again!

7.5 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was good.
Cons: Breakfast was served in a house down the road from where we stayed, so we had to walk down there. It was fine on the morning we were there, but it would have been miserable walking there in the rain. It was advertised as pet friendly, but we had to pay $25 extra for our 6-pound dog, which I thought was kind of steep.

6.8 Good
Pros: Staff was super friendly. Great location off interstate.
Cons: Smelled like stale cigarettes. Very run down. Carpet needs deep cleaning. Window dirty/foggy you couldn't see out.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: There is nothing good about this property
Cons: I never leave such a bad review but I just have to do others don’t end up renting here. This place is a dump. There is mold in the bathroom. Toilets don’t flush correctly and runs all night. They wouldn’t give us more than two bath towels at a time even though they had our credit card on file and we even offered to leave cash as a deposit. I have never seen such treatment before and we travel a lot. The staff is rude and not helpful. I asked if they could recommend a local restaurant and they said to google it. Furthermore, check out was 11am and at 11:05 (room click) and our phone in our room rang and when we answered a mean person said it’s after 11 (my cell said 11:03) and we said we were just heading out with our luggage so just a couple minutes and we were out. At 11:07 (by my cell), we had our door open so hubby could come back from bringing a suitcase to our car and this manager from front desk was standing in the doorway demanding that it was after 11 and at 11:15 we would be charged for another night. Can you imagine? It was just me and my husband and I was just tidying up making sure any trash was in the can, etc as I always do when hubby brings out suitcase. We couldn’t locate a cart and parking was only available at the other end of the building. They were just plain rude. We are very respectful of the staff and understand they have a narrow window to turn over the rooms and even leave a tip on the dresser for the cleaning staff.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: nothing about the place was appealing
Cons: The whole facility was rundown and worn. The rooms were dark and gloomy. The whole place was depressing.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: I will never ever visit this bulding again. It should be renamed the Hilltop Horror!!! This place was, and I'm sure, remains filthy. From the halls to just about every corner of each room were filthy. Really, really dirty building. Stay away. Book at a hotel or motel that is clean and safe, this place was and is a pigsty.
Cons: There is nothing to like about this filthy and unsafe location. The rooms and hallways smell because they allow all kinds of large dogs on the property and maintenance is extremely poor.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: only eggs
Cons: No service room had been made and the carpet was very dirty and the bed too. I sill not use your service in the future I can’t believe you support this place
1.0 Poor
Cons: Room smelled like smoke. Hair dryer missing. Stains on pillowcase and down side of bed skirt (looked like blood). Vinyl on headboards of bed mostly torn off. Most of vinyl on seat and back of desk chair worn off. Thin, stained towels. Halls filthy.
5.0 Okay
Cons: no reliable internet whatsoever
6.8 Good
Pros: The price of the room. Friendly staff.
Cons: I don't like carpet in the bedroom. Need to change carpets in the hallways and rooms and modernize the facilities. I think this motel needs a general household, and new paint on the walls. The pool is not very inviting, it looks like it is in an old barn.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The staff was very accommodating when we realized our shower was broke. They offered to let us use a shower in a different room.
Cons: The beds were stiff, the rooms were out of date, there was a massive pet stench, the water was freezing when we tried to shower.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing

Cons: Booked online through a third party site. Indicated that I needed a late check in time. Got a hostel call from the hotel the day of check in threatening to cancel my reservation. When I arrived, there was only one staff person on site for the entire place...which was supposedly sold out. After the lone inept employee finally got us checked in, our room was horrible. It smelled of must and dampness, as if it hadn’t been aired out in weeks. It was small, cramped, tacky, and poorly maintained. The room was poorly cleaned if at all and the sheets were like sandpaper on your skin. There were all of three channels available on the TV. The continental breakfast in the morning was maintained by the same lone staff person from the previous night. He was too busy checking guests out and taking smoke breaks to maintain the tiny breakfast nook that contained the disappointing menu options. There’s more that I could say but I think I made my point. Overall it was an extremely disappointing experience even for cheap motel.

4.5 Okay
Pros: Location and cost.
Cons: Rooms dark and in need of complete gut and redo. Breakfast room small and limited selection. But they did have scrambled eggs. Walkway in front of rooms in need of replacement.

Pros: The staff was very kind. The bed was moderately comfortable
Cons: The rug in the room was damp, the room needed to be vacuumed, the bathroom seemed dirty to the point that I did not shower. The rooms were very outdated and needed attention
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was wonderful! They were kind and helpful. The mattresses were GREAT, very firm! The breakfast was very good and my daughter and I enjoyed making waffles. It was also super close to Montpelier with it's shops and restaurants. Will come back.
Cons: While we didn't spend much time in the room, the room was pretty bad. It was very dark! The TV had only a couple of channels. The closet door was permanently closed (so no closet) and the bathroom door didn't stay closed. The floors didn't feel clean but the sheets were wonderful as was the bed.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing.Room 102 smelled very musty which didn't go away with the a/c was on.Room was really old. Phone did not work.Like putting lipstick on a pig. Terrible stay.
Cons: Horrible stay....
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location, because we where exhausted bike travellers. I was close by and quiet. The only staff that seems to be in charge was efficient and friendly. Wifi works very well.
Cons: Very old building, needs improvements on about everything. As is, it's reluctant. Not very clean, we could see things where left unclean (bath/shower, toilet , empty Kleenex box), shower wasn't working properly. A/c was really noisy. Really too expens
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The place was horrible for the price. I've stayed at many Econo Lodges and this is by far the most outdated I've ever seen. Peeling wallpaper, wallpaper put over old outlets and over holes in the wall. exposed pipes. Floor gives in the hallway like its weak boards under the carpet. Loud air conditioners. Tile floor in bathroom damp all the time. Gross in bare feet. Cant say I liked anything.
Cons: Posted above.

5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast good and receptionist helpful
Cons: Needs a major refurbishment...tatty and broken down . Insisted on a room change
4.5 Okay
Pros: The location is great and only a short walk to Montpelier.
Cons: Staff were really unprofessional, eating and drinking while checking people in. The cleaner had to help check us out as the staff member didn't want to help.
