Murchison Motels - Murchison - Building

8.9 Excellent (189 reviews)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location central to town, and town close to walks and adventures in the area. Good convenience store for supplies close by as were a couple of good pubs and coffee shop just down the driveway. Spacious room had kitchenette for self-catering, 2 Q bedrooms, lounge/dining and strong wifi. Would recommend. We stayed in room #6 around the back which had views of the mountains and were a little quieter (not that noise was an issue at all). Ample parking. Laundrette across the road.

Pros: Tastefully decorated room, with modern amenities; very quiet.
Cons: Motel is a little difficult to find, being taucked away behind a row of other buildings in the toen centre.

4.0 Okay
Pros: Location clean room and bathrooms
Cons: Filthy kitchen Room too expensive for what it was
1.0 Poor
Cons: Wanted self contained unit. This was a room in a block beside the kitchen. Door and windows had been left open as were all the ones in the block when we arrived at 1am. Filthy carpet, shabby room, toilet and shower outside the other side of the building. We were bitten in the room on legs arms and neck. We had no personal contact on checkout just a speaker directing us to leave keys in the drop box. My credit card was to hold the booking not to pay for it. The withdrawn amount was more than the quoted amount plus $5 to stick the envelope with the key on the office door. When talking in the township the bad reputation was well known. Take them off your books.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: $90 for a room that had a sign warning guest to turn of light so as no to attract but but had no big screen on window. The door hardly opened and would disturb other occupants if you had to go to the toilet during the night. The room advertised shared toilet but did not advertise it had shared shower also. They advertised the room had a balcony but it did not. I felt so privilege when the room had a bed sheet on the bed with pillows... but was confused why a $90 room had no top sheet, blankets or towels. The kitchen was tidy except for white kettle that had discoloured to a black inside. If I paid $30 for this room there would be no need to complain.... but $90 .... lol
Cons: Nice gardens
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Could get a last minute booking.
Cons: Booked online. Receipt said ‘bungalow’ which was not an term used amongst room descriptions for site. . So hard to argue. Felt we got down graded to a tiny minimalist 2 bed room with shared facilities.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The kitchen was spacious and the shower werent far from the room.
Cons: The room was unclean. The carpet was old and very stained. There was dirt next to the fridge, a dead spider hanging from the wall and stained windows. Worst of all, it felt and smelled as if the bedsheets weren't changed before our stay.

Pros: Big room with lovely country views, bed was large but a bit hard for my liking. Lots of places to put suitcases. Seating area looking out over the countryside. Access to tea coffee, and fresh baked goods and other goodies available. Lovely big breakfast, beautiful garden with lovely areas to sit and have a drink. We just stayed for one night but could easily have stayed for two, easy walk to town for dinner as well.
Cons: Only issue for us was the bed was a little hard but other than that great place and welcoming hosts.

Pros: We did our own breakfast so we liked that! The kitchen was well equipped but no sink other than the tiny one in the bathroom. Flyscreens on the windows a must here. Beware the sandfly. The dinner in the Tavern was very tasty that was cooked by the owner' elderly relative. She herself was very friendly, welcoming and lively.
Cons: Washing dishes in the basin and having to dry straightaway as no drainer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Although it is on the highway, the back rooms were quiet with lovely views of the mountains and the river. We had a great meal, the owner was friendly and the wifi brilliant
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Friendly staff. Nice room.
Cons: Said that breakfast would be in the room, but there was only tea and coffee. Would have been nice to have a muffin or piece of fruit.

Cons: Nothing for me
6.0 Good
Pros: Good accommodation and host very welcoming
7.0 Good
Pros: Location . Location, price
Cons: Room a little small for 2 fishermen and all our gear
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beside a reserve on the Owen River. Good clean rooms. The pub next door provides for needs.
Cons: Kitchenette is a bit tiny, you need to juggle a bit as we couldn't find anywhere else to recharge. Not enough power points.
