Cons: Far too loud, seems there is no noise insulation between the rooms at all. Literally we could listen and understand all the conversation of our neighbors and the sounds in the bathroom were clear as if they were in our room. Room furniture quite old and also the pool area needs some updates

Pros: Hotel location is very close to the bus terminal (200 m) from where you can take a bus to El Tajín to see the pyramids (every 30 minutes). Room is comfortable, big bed, everything is clean with fresh towels every day. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast has a good variety and it's possible to get eggs as you like them. A good choice for Poza Rica.

Pros: The hotel makes a fine base for a visit to El Tajin nearby. The room was of a decent enough size with AC, a fridge and a view over part of the city and nearby hills. The wifi worked well and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: The AC was of an older style and direct the air flow across the ceiling without the ability to adjust the louvers. An odd design which wastes a lot of energy while not conveying the flow of air to where it should go - on or near the occupants.

Pros: Staff can speak good English （which is not so common in Mexico）and had very friendly smiles. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Good value for money. A good choice to stop over if you'd like to visit el Tajin.
Cons: No restaurants in the neighborhood (but there's one in the hotel. So that is not so bad. Just too few choices). Breakfast was very simple. No ventilation in the bathroom (but that is a common problem in Mexico)

Room is clean and adequate--nothing special, but nothing bad either.
Laptop sized safe.
Easy access to archeological site El Tajín.
Restaurant off lobby with good menu and lots of variety.

Cons: The picture does not tell the story of this facility--it is in the center of a very busy and heavily trafficked part of town. I suspect it's not the safest part of town. The building is NOT a stand-alone facility, but rather part of a continuous city block of buildings. I don't recommend foreigners leave the building once checked in until they are ready to leave.
Facility is hard to find and has only valet parking (I don't like valet in Mexico with rentals as damage to rental cars is a huge deal there).
Staff called me in night to come pay bill--I insisted that I could not until the morning (not sure why I wasn't asked to pay at check in time).
Roads to and from are narrow and clobbered with traffic at all hours. Give yourself plenty of time once in the city.
Our room did not have a window, if this is important, call ahead to make sure you get a window room.

Pros: This was a good hotel in the central part of the city. It had very nice bathroom fittings fittings and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was included which was a bonus. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Our room was very nice with a large window overlooking the square but some rooms in the hotel don’t have windows. I asked for a room change and it was given. The staff helped us with taxis and the doorman was always there with a big smile.
Cons: Biggest problem for me was that the WiFi did not work in our room on the third floor. We didn’t have hot water on the first day but I think it was an oversight as we got hot water as soon as we reported the problem.

Pros: The staff were friendly and welcoming. They gave us a welcome drink which was appreciated after a 14 hour trip! The restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent, all freshly made, good ingredients. Authentic flavours, this was the favourite part of my stay.
Cons: The whole hotel needs updating and renovating. The bed was not comfortable and the mattress cover had plastic which was very uncomfortable. The pillows too soft and the carpet too old and dirty. It made the place look too dark. The furniture was old-fashioned and not practical. The A/C was too noisy to leave on. The TV made a noise which made it hard to hear. There were not enough places to put clothes in.

Pros: Miguel was a delightful host. He invited us into his kitchen where he had prepared fresh fruit then offered to cooked us breakfast. He then walked us to get a collectivo to El Tajin and told us about the concert in the zocalo. Miguel also very kindly drove us to the bus station. We were very touched when his 90 year old mother came to say goodbye and told us her house was our house! We felt very safe and secure here.
Cons: A liitle concerned about the light bulb next to the shower rose. Found the fan ineffective but perhaps that was because we were unaccustomed to the heat. Miguel did provide an extra fan. We had difficulty with the gate until we were shown the trick with the lock.

Pros: Located at the bottom of a hill from the Zocalo. Despite the owner not speaking English and having to put up with my weak Spanish, the owner was really nice and he went out of his way for me.
Cons: Room was not completely clean nor finished when we checked in. However that was fixed when we were out for dinner. The room was also pretty basic.

Pros: Papantla is a small town, so was pleased to find Adrian at the front desk when I arrived at 11.00pm. Given a small room with a wide bed. A shower was appreciated. I need to correct a misleading print in booking.com. On booking.com, they indicate that breakfast is USD 4 (optional). No breakfast is served at all. The picture on booking.com showing a neat tidy restuarant with tables and chairs should be removed. There must be a change in ownership as it is a young couple that are administering the hotel. Never noticed an elderly man at all, as described by previous tourists. Close to the ADO bus terminal and local bus stop for the journey to El Tajin. No proper restuarants nearby, just simple dimly lit side food outlets. Food hygiene is questionable.
Cons: OK for one night, not two. Papantla has nothing to offer the tourist. Pleased to leave Papantla and headed towards Mexcio City.
