Cons: The only minor complaint is that it was difficult to get the WiFi to connect in the room. Apparently, this problem can be solved by going down a level, but as I was too tired to work, it wasn't much of an issue.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: We truly loved our stay at Corner House! A family owned business and we were treated like royalty. Linda and Patrick were wonderful hosts plus Helen who took excellent care of us. Patrick is the chef and Linda was his able helper in the kitchen. The food was FABULOUS!! We ate there both nights and it was exceptional.
Cons: The rooms were tight but clean. The bathrooms were basic and could use some upgrading.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The nicest part was that Helen and Linda remembered me from an earlier visit and gave me such a friendly welcome! I'd chosen to return because my first visit had been so pleasant and having the restaurant on site for an evening meal is such a bonus for a B&B. I wasn't disappointed. They work so hard and yet the pressure doesn't stop them from being cheerful and chatty!
Cons: There wasn't anything, very happy traveller! Thanks again!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, nice place and lovely owners.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to the centre of town, helpful staff.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Location and was able to leave bikes securely
Cons: Had to ask to change rooms as we had booked a bath through booking.com. Owner said we hadn’t (even though showed him the booking on departure, didn’t give us much opportunity before and we wanted to keep out of his way) He did change our room but made us feel really awful asking for this. Made our stay very uncomfortable. Also unhappy with the tiredness of the room, didn’t expect a dirty looking sofa with a hole in the arm. Not worth the £130 for the superior. Breakfast ok but have had better at other B & B’s. Lady that served us at breakfast very nice.

Cons: Nothing negative to say!
7.0 Good
Pros: Well appointed, comfortable and clean
Cons: The quiche had inedible very undercooked pastry, when this was pointed our we were not offered a price reduction. Not a good sign. On a very warm night we could only open one small window so the room didn’t cool down. On quite a busy road so you have a choice of opening a window and it being noisy or closing the window for quiet. Very slow breakfast...would benefit from self service cold foods. But food good when it did arrive.

The Park Hotel Peebles - Peebles - Building
11
8.6 Excellent (1,259 reviews)

8.3 Excellent
Pros: great location, good breakfast, friendly staff
Cons: hairdryer outdated
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ample private parking; had a very spacious room and were happy about the hotel lift as we had heavy and bulky motorbike panniers to carry; cool floor design and decoration on ground floor; Restaurants, Pubs and shops in walking distance; we had a good night's rest and a satisfactory breakfast. We'll come again!
Cons: Despite the lift, we had to carry our luggage quite a way along the first floor - our room was located around several corners, but we managed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the outside area to sit with a drink and relax. The restaurant room was beautiful, loved the cups and saucers. Location was spot on as well.
Cons: The bathroom was very clean but dated

Pros: Excellent spacious and comfortable bedroom.
Cons: Breakfast was adequate but I was expecting more choice. Decore in the dining room for dinner was in need of a refurb.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed 2 nights, the cooked breakfast on Friday was much better than the Saturday, sausage over cooked, service a bit slower but there was a large party in for breakfast on Saturday. The croissants and continental breakfast was lovely. Room and facilities lovely and staff always pleasant and helpful.
Cons: Breakfast on Saturday
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good and very relaxed start to the day.
Cons: The room and bathroom was spotlessly clean but I did feel that the bathroom facilities could do with an updating.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Reception on arrival, most excellent, woud stay, again for that alone. Staff in general first class. Breakfast first class. Evening meals good value. Overall excellent value for money. Reception could be more easily identified and away from coffee shop shop environment. There is after all ample space to locate it. More privacy and I am sure customers would relish that. Associated costs would be orth it. Keep bringing on young staff, that's good. A little "tinkering" around the edges is all that needs to be carried out over all. Sits well in its current market sector. To move it up a level would not take much, while still retaining most excellent value for money. Congratulations to all staff. Stay again? Indeed I would. Would I suggest it to friends? Indeed I would. I shall return. John Rattray
Cons: Minor issues, bar tables, "sticky" when you spread out a newspaper in the morning. Some evening dinner staff "forgetful" at times. No official designated reception area issues like that as I have stated it would not take much to move the whole experience up a notch
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed, clean, easy to find and very friendly staff.Bar and restaurant facilities excellent. Having a lift was a bonus
7.0 Good
Pros: Period features, will be great when refurbishment complete
Cons: A little dated in parts but refurb under way

Pros: The Park is in a great location, the room was comfortable, with excellent views. The staff members were friendly and efficient.
Cons: The bathroom needed updating and improving.

A great breakfast with, cereals, fruit juices, full Scottish breakfast, pastries & copious amounts of tea. Would stay here again & would recommend.
Cons: No negatives at all
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable.
Cons: The noise from the pub and the smoking area outside our window which went on until one a.m. on Saturday. Also, despite what it says on the website there is no restaurant at the hotel and we had to look elsewhere for somewhere to eat which proved difficult.
6.3 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, nice garden, parking at rear.
Cons: Room was very dated, (bathroom very smart though), booked 4 poster room and got a family room. Breakfast disappointing, (not great quality) , very noisy until early hours due to the bar downstairs.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Swimming pool, activities organise for children, view from front
Cons: The evening food in restaurant was old. Especially kids buffet, view from the window for back of building, bed for children. The restaurant close at 21.00
7.0 Good
Pros: The appearance of the exterior and beautiful grounds.
Cons: Very tight on parking. Hard bed and dreadful pillows.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, really helpful staff
Cons: I was on the third floor, my room was great, freshly , stylishly decorated but on one occasion I walked down the stairs instead of using the lift and it if obviously due for renovation, scuffed walls and threadbare carpet (on stairs !) . Funnily enough when you got to the first floor everything was in good order. Didnt put me off, obviously a work in progress, the building itself is special, dont let my comments put you off, it is definitely worth a stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff were excellent. Every single staff member was friendly and accommodating. Dinner was also lovely, and the dining room was very well decorated. We also stayed in a recently refurbished room which was beautiful.
Cons: There was an extremely loud banging noise which was almost constant from about 7-11am. I’m not sure if it was doors slamming or improvement works but it was really difficult to sleep through. The leisure facilities were not the best I have seen. They were a little small and not connected to the spa where treatments are given. Some parts of the steam room seemed a little bit dirty. Overall it was a lovely stay but if you’re specifically looking for a spa getaway Peebles Hydro would not be my first recommendation.
6.3 Good
Pros: Situated in a lovely country side and great views
Cons: Getting bags up to reception was the first challenge, clunky lift that you had to find. We arrived late so we were after a snack however we couldn’t order that from the bar, we had to go back to our room and then dial from our personal mobile (yep no in-house phone service) now that’s ok if local but not with international phones navigating options. We asked for brekky but apparently because that was before start time it couldn’t be delivered to your room, you had to collect from the reception desk, never experienced this previously!!
7.0 Good
Pros: Spa was lovely
Cons: Needs upgrading very soon
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and could not have been more welcoming. The sports facilties were great & activities too. The proximity to Peebles town fab.
Cons: Although we were in a refurbed room the paint was very badly chipped on the outside of the bathroom door. Some areas of the hotel had seen better days which let it down in comparison to Crieff Hydro, which is where we usually go.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and can't be faulted. Swimming pool was also great. Scottish Borders are lovely for scenery and Peebles is a lovely wee town.
Cons: Food other than breakfast was extremely disappointing and expensive. It was so awful we had to eat out in Peebles instead. Looking around for decent places to eat wasted valuable relaxation time and spoilt our enjoyment. The view from our window on the back of the hotel was very depressing, looking over a work yard and out buildings. Worst of all was the unbearable heat in the room. It was so stifling making it impossible to sleep.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I asked for a room that was not up to many flights of stairs as I was travelling with my 2 dogs we got a ground floor room which was excellent. Very friendly staff and food was excellent
Cons: I was disappointed when I went into the dining room as I was expecting decor to match the rest of this beautiful building, instead it looked like a school dinner hall ( just my opinion)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: good standard each day good selection
Cons: orange not always available

Pros: Everything else ! Regretted the fact that we were only having a short stay. Brilliant Scottish breakfast. Staff so friendly. Runs like clockwork.
Cons: Slight criticism of location, but not everywhere can be in the perfect location and once inside, it really doesn't matter.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel in the centre of town. Have their own restaurant and there are lots of places to eat and drink nearby. Very friendly atmosphere and a good breakfast.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Staff were lovely
Cons: We arrived to our room which was disappointing at first to then realise at the end of the two nights stay that it was the biggest room. The room had a cupboard with the nosiest boiler in it... there were cob webs in the bedroom on the ceiling. When we got to our room after the second night, the heating was switched off and the room was cold. The milk pots didn’t taste nice at all. The toilet made the loudest noise when it was being flushed, sounded like a revving motor! And the exit door at the back of our room didn’t lock, not very safe! Must say, we were not impressed at all for the price we paid which was £130 for two nights. Won’t be back
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable in a great location. Staff were very helpful and the cooked breakfast was fantastic. Would recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A smile when met by staff & boss. Their concern that all your needs were met & went the extra mile to ensure they were. Would not hesitate to go again nor to recommend Tarquair Arms to friends & family. Brilliant.
Cons: I had not booked longer.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: General location & parking then the fact it’s a busy bar but the noise don’t effect you in the rooms above.

7.5 Good
Pros: Food and service was excellent large portions. Beautiful walks and views.
Cons: Beds not comfortable, not much facilities for children, bath too small. No lifeguard at pool and loose tiles, pool needing cleaned.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel was clean with excellent restaurant, bar and leisure facilities. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the dinner and breakfast were well presented. We enjoyed our visit to the Polish map of Scotland in the grounds of the hotel - an unusual feature.
Cons: We were given a 'Genius' upgrade to a first floor Prestige room, which although bigger than a Standard room had quite spartan furnishings and creaky floorboards with a flimsy plastic bath in the ensuite. The large sash windows overlooked the front entrance / car park so requiring the blinds to be lowered to prevent all and sundry being able to look straight into the room. It also got rather noisy when a large group of bikers arrived mid-afternoon and various delivery vans arrived in the early morning. For our evening meal we were seated in a windowless back room with a low ceiling and no ventilation, off from the main dining area, which apparently was fully reserved for a coach party. Everything was fine until two adjacent tables ordered steaks which were cooked by the diners on hot slabs at their tables, making the whole room very hot and filled with cooking smells and smoke, just like being in the kitchen really, not a great way to finish our meal. Also being close to trees and water, the hotel attracts a lot of flies and there seemed little attempt to keep them out of the restaurant and bar areas - rather unhygienic.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Our room seemed like it was the old servants quarters, the corridor outside the room smelled really bad, musty and our bed was rock hard. The furnishings were basic, no curtains, just a blind which did not block out the light. We didn’t feel like we were staying in a castle.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent and very helpful. Dinner in the bar was very good. The spa facility was good.
Cons: The room was good value for the money but was very warm and noisy as it was located over the Kitchens/plant room?
5.0 Okay
Pros: Not very much - bit of a disappointment
Cons: Check in poor - made to feel awkward as only had booked half an hour before. Room hadn’t been cleaned and had to go and get changed to much incredulity. Breakfast staff spent lot time sticking things in food to presumably check temperatures - most off putting. Place could be a lot better - needs a good shake up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just what was needed. Sham I didn't pack my shorts to enjoy the pool.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing! The staff were excellent
Cons: The wifi signal only worked in the garden

Cons: Walls very thin, could hear snoring from next door. Several short hairs on surfaces in bathroom - bit off putting.

6.8 Good
Cons: Hotel very tired looking carpet in our bedroom was thread bare
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Most of the staff were lovely, especially the waitress, Bonnie.
Cons: Lift not working which made the stay horrible, especially for my wife, who, because of disability found the climb to the 2nd floor almost impossible. We feel we should have been offered alternative accomodation, but that was met with a shrug! The reception was extremely short staffed. Waited for an hour for food which was cold when it came! No marmalade or orange juice at breakfast. Asked for orange juice from the bar only to be charged a further £3.50! The fire alarm went off around midnight, which meant that my wife had to struggle a further twice with the stairs with two hysterical grandchildren, who were absolutely distraught at the thought of gran not being able to make it out on time. I have been reliably informed that the lift has not been functioning properly for almost a month. If we had been told this beforehand we would never have booked. I informed them, before we booked of my wife's disability and was told that they would make sure that our room would be nearby the lift, which it was, but, alas with a nonfunctioning lift this proved to be an absolute disaster. To crown it all, it was out 47th wedding anniversary! We really feel we should be offered a refund or a free stay at a MacDonald resort!
4.5 Okay
Pros: Bacon was nicely cooked
Cons: No marmalade, poor bread for toast, very poorly cooked eggs, we had to ask for cereal bowls, staff could do with more training, lift out of action on 2 days
7.0 Good
Pros: Rooms are big and well set up...bed is comfortable...shower and bath as part of facilities...idealfor a weekend golf break...there seems to have been some investment in the gym since I was there 2years ago but still things like damaged ceiling tiles just distract from the improvements
Cons: It's just a little tired round the edges....carpet in room a little threadbare...safe with battery exposed..the dining experience is the main concern....I only went to sit at the bar and overheard guests waiting g 90mins for a meal....simple enough evening menu but no fish or steak.? It also seems that when the dining room is busy they close to bar meals....no alternative...just nope not serving...on hearing this we chose to eat out for our stay and given the location involved a drive...taxi or bus ride...we had a fire alarm and a roll call was taken which included "agency chef 1 and 2" so I think there may be an issue with recruitment and retention.....corridors dark and not helped by the brown heavy fire doors..

Pros: nothing to be honest
Cons: most of it
4.5 Okay
Pros: Good location
Cons: 1 toilet for 5 rooms. The room was too cold even with the heater turned on.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was great for our purpose. Got a text message about arrival time so that the hotel owner could be there to check us in upon arrival. Clean appearance in the bedroom and we got clean towels every day.
Cons: Shower did not work in our bathroom and neither did all the lamps in the room. The bathroom was also not as clean as I would have wanted. Information about the WiFi in the room was wrong (not updated). And the beds actually looked like they would fall apart any minute.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Did the job, had secure bike storage which is the main point, friendly staff cheap beers
Cons: No parking, it was on street
4.5 Okay
Pros: Good location double bed was comfortable
Cons: 1 On arrival asked to pay again. 2Our family room had 1 double and 2 single beds both single beds had 2 mattresses on them making them unstable also springs coming through 3The water pressure was bad trickling 4 the shower wasn't working 5 bathroom light was out 6 only one light in the main room working 7 no toilet paper or room service to top up coffee milk and sugar
5.8 Okay
Pros: Staff were quick to fix problems
Cons: Stayed in family room containing one double bed and two singles on each side, double bed was very firm whilst the singles felt like water beds. Super uncomfortable, toilet in room and on other side of landing made noises during the night and was super loud. When we first arrived at the property our room had not yet been cleaned from those who had previously stayed due to a misunderstanding on check in times both on my part and staffs. We were then asked to leave and return in 45 minutes.
5.0 Okay
Pros: We booked breakfast but when we made our order she had to go down to the shop for provisions! When the breakfast came it was very good but we had waited almost an hour for it!
Cons: The room was cramped and had a drip of a shower with cold water. We paid a lot of money and didn’t feel it was good value at all - the next night was spent in Edinburgh and got a whole apartment in the middle of Edinburgh for just a few pounds more.
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff we met were friendly, place was clean and we ate in the bar on our first night and the steak pie was excellent. Well located on the Main Street in the middle of Innerleithen, which is lovely wee town.
Cons: Mattresses were quite poor being very soft and could feel the springs and really need replaced. Bedroom decor and furnishing also quite tired and not the modern spacious studio stated on my booking. Was told a couple of days before that work was getting done and the room we had booked was unavailable but was not advised of the room we would get being of a lower standard. Disco in the bar until 1am immediately below us was very loud. If we had not been getting up at 5:30am for the Tour O The Borders we might have joined the fun but would not have booked in the first place if I had appreciated this. I have read responses from the manager stating that website advises of entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays but really should warn people at the time of booking. Also had a shared bathroom which is not something I would choose, I have double checked my booking and there was no mention of this.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Not much !!
Cons: It was manky , old dated rooms shower didn’t work !! Noise at night was unreal ! Will never go back ! Only thing good about it was the man in the bar was very friendly and helpful!
