This is a great secluded resort for families with kids. It is quite out of the way so be prepared to pend all your time there. The food was decent; generous portions but quite a limited menu. Our room was lovely (beachfront room) with a modern, clean bathroom. Free use of bicycles and kayaks was a bonus
We would have liked a more extensive food menu, but s this is a small resort it is understandable that the range is limited. Dinner was also quite slow to arrive, so we would recommend ordering in the afternoon for a specific time rather than just turning up in the restaurant
We had the northernmost beach bungalow and we hardly heard any other guests or noises for four days. The most wonderful view, quiet veranda, hammocks, sunbeds etc. Waking up to the sound of the sea waves...
The only improvement we could suggest is water tanks on roof to heat up the water by the sun. There was a bathtub, but you must be masochist or suffering from a heat stroke if you use it with cold water!
This bungalow beach resort is in the furthermost NW corner, i.e. bay of the island, 20-25 kms far from the airport, that is about 40 minutes’ drive, and far enough from the hordes of tourists on the island, especially around Duong Dong (the capital). The hotel offered us a transfer to the airport free of charge. The beach is beautiful, sandy. The sea is warm. The bungalows are comfortable and clean. You can directly run out of the bed in to the sea. No crowd, no beachboys. What else is needed? There are no shops in the vicinity of the hotel, so if you have some special needs either you should bring them with yourselves or you should order them through the very kind staff or ride a bicycle (free bike hire in the hotel) to the nearest shops (i.e. stalls in the streets) in 4-5 kms. The breakfast is not a big attraction, but it is sufficient for surviving. The food in the hotel’s restaurant is good but a bit expensive. If you want to try some other restaurants you can find 2 more of them. 10 minutes’ walk to the South (Vung Bau Resort) or 20 minutes’ walk to the North (Mai Phuong Resort).
There are mosquitoes in this area, not too many, but one is enough. So, bring some mosquitoes killer. My biggest concern was at this place that the sea washed up plastic trash onto the beach time to time which disturbed our pleasure and enjoyment. Along with some other guests we regularly collected the trash and we could keep the beach relatively clean, at least for the time we were there.
We loved the beach and the peaceful feel of this place. We had a room facing the ocean and even with three beds it was spacious and comfortable. Lots of chairs, hammocks, loungers on the beach to enjoy. As we are vegetarian, the staff helped create dishes especially for us. My son loved the yellow vegetarian curry. It is pretty far from a town which was fine with us as we brought lots of books, games, etc. We also used their kayaks.
We recently stayed at the hotel with our young family. The location is remote but beautiful and a perfect place to relax and unwind. Bungalow right on the beach was amazing. The owners went to a lot of trouble to make our stay easy with the kids and provide ample sun chairs, hammocks and swings for everyone to enjoy. There is a temporary port next to the hotel however this didn’t bother us like other reviewers have commented. The food is simple but delicious for those like us that want to eat local cuisine Stop at the supermarket on the way to buy water, snacks and everything else you feel you may need for your stay as whilst shops can be accessible by taxi you probably won’t want to leave once you get there!
