It was a bait and switch, so many add on fees and was told I was required to take insurance with them. The employee was rude and the answer was always, "everyone charges those fees". Will never deal with this company again, mostly because of the attitude and the over charge. If I was not abandoned there I would have gone to a reputable company. Just to not the tires where well worn and roared when driven at any speed.
The staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. The man who checked us in acted as though we were an inconvenience to his life. He was very condescending and quite rude. He would seem very bothered by any of my questions. I had requested a different car and when I asked about it, he told me they were very similar with an attitude. When we did get in the car, it obviously had not been cleaned. It was very dirty. No one walked us around a check for scrapes or dents. When we drop the car off, a man offered us a ride to the airport with the van. He was very nice. It was very quick. However I did not have cash to tip him and then he was rude that we didn’t give him tip. I will never rent a car through this company again. I highly recommend you removed them as your vender list. Rude dirty did not feel the value. I can take my money elsewhere.
There was no number for customer service, I had to take an Uber from the terminal to rent a wreck when they claimed there was a shuttle. When I got there, I didn’t have the right insurance that they requested so one would have to have had to purchase the insurance which was $300. It was a total scam. I do not recommend rent a wreck at
I had a horrible experience with Rent-a-wreck in Tampa. I waited 45mins for a shuttle - every other rental car company had multiple shuttles arrive and depart prior to the Rent-a-wreck shuttle appearing a single time. Once I was finally at the counter, they wouldn’t accept my personal auto insurance from Amica, a very reputable company. Instead they insisted I purchase their liability insurance for $60/day. They couldn’t explain why they wouldn’t accept my insurance. It felt like a bait-and-switch scam. I walked away (as did the other potential customer on the shuttle with me), booked with another company on the spot and Uber-ed over there. I won’t consider renting from Rent-a-wreck again.
I chose this company because the search result said in-terminal pickup. This wasn’t the case. There was a 15-minute shuttle to an off-airport location which I never received any instructions for. We waited almost 45 minutes for the shuttle to finally arrive, then there were a BUNCH of hidden fees, and pickup took almost an hour. I was given a Nissan Rogue, which is noticeably smaller than the “Kia Sorento or Similar” I reserved, and dropoff also took a ridiculous amount of time while I waited almost 30 minutes in line to hand them keys and ask for the shuttle to take us back to the airport. This entire experience was very frustrating and I will never use a 3rd party site to rent a car again. The car was clean, though, so there’s that, I guess.
they charged me but didnt give me a car!
