Rating

Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains are a year-round travel destination. Whether guests are embarking on a winter trip to curl up by the lobby’s signature stone fireplace or an excursion for hiking or fishing, the Pocono Manor Resort & Spa offers relaxing accommodations. Located just a couple of hours away from the airports of Philadelphia and New York City, this hotel makes a convenient weekend getaway.

First constructed in 1903, the Pocono Manor has entertained guests for over a century. Since its inception, the hotel has expanded and now includes rooms in the original main manor, outer lodges, as well as accessible rooms. Suites include breathtaking views of the Pocono Mountains, allowing guests to enjoy the scenic views from the comfort of their own room.

For guests looking to stay on the hotel’s premises, the Pocono Manor offers three distinct restaurants, which cater to a variety of tastes. The Mountain View Dining Room offers a buffet breakfast every day and dinner choices every weekend. Described as calm and casual, the Lamplighter showcases American comfort food and beer on tap. Lastly, for those in a hurry, the Little Pocono Shoppe serves homemade pizzas, as well as offering a quick stop for coffee and ice cream.

Activities abound both at the resort and in the surrounding areas. The resort highlights include a full-service spa, a championship golf course, and multiple wedding venues. Nearby, guests can find several attractions including the Jack Frost Big Boulder Ski Resort, an indoor waterpark, and a casino.

Winter, spring, summer, or fall, the Pocono Manor Resort & Spa offers something for all.

Pros (+) Nothing
Cons (-) This hotel says very clearly on its own website that it is pet friendly. When you click the book a room link on the hotel’s website, it shows which room types are pet friendly. After I booked and pre-paid a night, I got the usual email follow up. I happened to read the fine print a few days later... and noticed it said to call for pet-friendly reservations. In tiny print. So I did. And thank goodn...

Pros (+) The number of amenities ! There is a lot to do.
Cons (-) The room was dirty, and "OLD"! The ugly green carpet in our 12'x12' room was stained and the bed was absolutely the worst we have ever slept in. If not for the filthy carpet I would have slept better on the floor. We checked out early to go home and sleep. The on-sight restaurant was severely understaffed for a major holiday (Valentines Day). They had one bartender, one waitress, and two managers ...

Cons (-) Poor service all around - that complimentary coffee? Urn was empty. Both mornings. Just as well, who wants styrofoam cups? Stains on carpet in room, on bathroom floor as well. No screen on one of the windows. Venetian blind in bathroom broken. Signs of neglect everywhere. Definitely down-on-its-heels facility. Had the look and feel of a budget motel, not a higher-end "resort and spa." No life guar...

Pros (+) Breakfast buffet for $13.99. 2 rounds make it worth the money. Freshly made mix n match omelettes were fantastic! The king sized bed was comfortable.
Cons (-) Front desk staff were accommodating. Parking was easy. Amenities were available. Didn't expect the place to have such an "old" vibe. Cant blame them since the place was founded in the 1900s or something. Seemed a bit too rustic for my taste. Hot water took minutes to come out the faucet. Shower water pressure was too low. Update the rooms. Everything just seemed so outdated, except for the flat sc...

Pros (+) Beautiful location in the Poconos Historic, rustic feel Green initiatives Comfortable bed Golf course
Cons (-) Room wasn't well cleaned(Laurel Lodge) Service in the bar wasn't attentive Front desk at spa had no interest in giving us a tour or explaining services Need larger/better staffed counter selling personal items (didn't have a toothbrush) Wedding was going on during our stay and we were very clearly not a priority of the hotel

Pros (+) The resort was clean and offered many enjoyable activities. The location is beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. There are lots of quiet places inside and out where one can sit for a few moments to recharge. The surrounding area includes a lot of shopping options, including a Walmart for any forgotten items.
Cons (-) The room left a lot to be desired. The AC system was so loud you couldn't hear the TV when running and it jolts you awake. The bed was positioned under a slanted ceiling and I bumped my head getting up. Water pressure was so low that it was barely able to keep the shower on. We arrived at 4:30 and didn't get a room until 6:00. The breakfast buffet was a little pricey at $18 per person, but there i...
