The unit is accessed by stairs to a wide deck, overlooking some stunning panoramic views. Situated on the southern slopes of the ancient Porongurup Range, Jilba Enterprises is a 77 hectare working cattle, avocado and table olive property. We also have a small plantation of Eucalyptus saligna trees, which we are growing for furniture timber use. For nature enthusiasts, bushwalkers and lovers of fine foods and wines, Jilba offers an ideal central point to relax and enjoy your exploration of everything the magical Great Southern region of Western Australia has to offer. Jilba is 43km north of Albany & 35km east of Mount Barker and the property is also within easy driving distance of the Stirling Ranges, with the many attractions of Denmark and Walpole as options for day trips. There is something to appeal to all members of the family. Enjoy peace, tranquillity and fresh country air, plus panoramic views from Jilba Cottage out over our beautiful gardens, olive grove and rolling farmland to Albany & the rugged south coast. Wake up to a dawn chorus of Kookaburras and carolling Magpies. Catch a glimpse of cheeky Blue Wrens, New Holland Honey Eaters, Golden Whistlers, Grey Fantails and Robin Red Breasts, which inhabit our garden; also, pesky Ring Neck, Red Capped & Western Rosella parrots, the bane of fruit growers’ lives. You may also see a Wedgetail Eagle spirally lazily in the sky above the farm. Enjoy a BBQ and relax with one of the area’s many superb wines. Revel in the magnificent sunsets and the sight of kangaroos coming out to graze at dawn and dusk. Also, enjoy the antics of our Guinea fowls, which roam at will all over the farm, keeping all the bugs at bay. As well as enjoying our produce - in season, you may also like to help with avocado and olive picking. You are welcome to take a stroll through our gardens, around the farm, or up into the National Park, immediately behind the cottage. For wildflower enthusiasts and keen bushwalkers, the Porongurup Range and National Park (now Heritage listed) is a must. Explore the many walks and trails in these ancient ranges and experience the beautiful scenery, seasonal wildflowers and abundant bird and wild life Relish the superb contrast between the low mallee country (immediately to the east of us) and the tall timber country to the west. Also, explore the region’s magnificent, wild, rugged coastline and the many idyllic beaches. Follow the superb wine, food, art and craft trails throughout the region and tempt your palate, tasting the many award winning food and wines.
