7.7 Good
Pros: Location, Location, Location. Right on campus, so if visiting Penn State, this is it !!! I've had small rooms and large rooms. This time I got lucky and got a nice large room. However, not nearly enough outlets available for guests' use.
Cons: Only one outlet accessible in room. It's apparent, lots of students work here, but they seem to be teaching mediocrity. Why isn't it being run like a Ritz Carlton. Teach Perfection and the best way to run a hotel !! I was supposed to be picked up at the airport by their shuttle, and apparently, the person taking my reservation never signed me up in the reservation book (or wherever he's supposed to put it). Also, given the wrong price of the dinner buffet (by Over $10/person).
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Staff is pleasant, helpful and extremely courteous.
Cons: room 6092 sink is clogged very slow draining.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: While disappointed in the management staff, the service staff up front was great. Nice and helpful. Grounds and building were gorgeous. Easy walk to Arts Fest and town. Whiskers was a nice venue to relax with a cocktail.
Cons: Reserved a year in advance for this year's Arts Fest. Four girlfriends. With both elderly parents and young adult children issues, only booked rooms because the third party reservation site bragged that we would be able to cancel up to 24 hours ahead. Three weeks out it became apparent that our issues would make it very difficult to be away from family for that weekend. Called to cancel. Management would not budge from their 30-day cancel policy. (in the fine print on the confirmation) Third party even got involved. They would not budge. They were already sold out and easily could have re-rented those rooms. They would have had happy future alumni customers. We managed for 2 of us to go but 2 were out the money. Nice rooms but dark, fickle A/C sometimes worked and would then turn off, several bugs in bthrm, hot shower turns cold for periods of time.

6.3 Good
Pros: Bed, location
Cons: Rooms were not cleaned very well, staff wasn’t helpful when we asked what there is to do around here (we are out of state) the lady at the front desk told us “oh the usual” ok what does that mean ? Construction going on above us. I think we should have been notified that there was going to be construction. Also the parking. After our event we had to park in the back of the hotel and walk to the side door which wouldn’t let us in with our key card so we have to walk all the way to the front in the freezing cold. Working in a hotel myself , i am not satisfied with this stay at all.

Pros: The convenience of attending continuing ed classes in same facility as my lodging.

Pros: Breakfast was good. Satisfying. A few more hot items would have been perfect but that's just me. Plenty of options. The woman taking care of the area (blonde ponytail) was friendly, engaging, accommodating and extremely helpful. She alone would be reason to return.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great big room, cozy bed, friendly staff, good breakfast and location, loved the free coffee and late hours for the pool/hot tub
Cons: The tv was on the smaller side and the jets in the hot tub were facing upwards which had the water splashing in our faces, but these are very tiny things and we very much enjoyed the hotel and will be staying again.

7.1 Good
Cons: The breakfast was tasty after we finally got some. Upon arrival at breakfast around 8 am, there were no eggs, bacon, oatmeal, syrup etc. we had to stand around waiting in line for food and then it was all scoffed up. There were sports teams in town for events at Penn State but Hampton Inn should know it will be busy and be prepared with enough food. We’ve stayed at Hampton Inns all over the place for years and this was a first. Disappointing when you are on a tight schedule as well.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and clean with lots of options.
Cons: Nothing! Everything was great!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The Hampton Inn in State College has been around a while, but they've maintained the property well considering how much business it gets. One small touch: mattress had an allergy proof cover plus a mattress pad. Much appreciated by those with allergies!
6.0 Good
Pros: The hot breakfast was nice and offered a decent selection (hot and cold items) so that my picky eater found something to eat.
Cons: The walls are paper thin so we heard everyone in the hallways, above us and next door.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location; staff; breakfast and breakfast staff were excellent.
Cons: Noisey area; from neighbors and parking lot. No microwave or refrigerator. We stayed in the same hotel last year and loved it; this one did not keep us happy; we will be looking elsewhere this fall.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location if you’re coming down to fish Spring Creek. Close to TCO Flyshop. Easy drive to Fishermans Paradise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The appearance of the hotel says 'we care.' It was not ultra fancy, but well maintained and the staff was wonderful and attentive. The breakfast is nice.
Cons: The room did not have fridge or microwave. I was a little disappointed.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location for what we needed and the breakfast.
Cons: That you needed to sign up for the wifi and we still couldn't get it to work. Also the towels very hard and scratchy.
6.0 Good
Cons: Room wasn't ready despite checking in after 5:00pm. House keeping failed to empty trash. Sports Bar which shares same parking lot had rock band playing outdoors until 10:45pm creating incredible noise. Not acceptable.
7.0 Good
Pros: I am a frequent Hampton inn user. The hotel was about average for most of the Hampton Inns I have stayed. Though I have stayed at some nice recently renovated ones. Time for a renovation for this site
Cons: I booked a "double" which I thought meant 2 double beds. Wrong. One double in a small corner room. My teenage son slept on the floor giving mom the bed. Not advertised properly. I paid hotel prices for the floor!! And the bill was off by $100 to boot!!
6.0 Good
Pros: Plenty of parking. Right next to a sports bar restaurant.
Cons: Free breakfast left much to be desired - pretty typical, though, for these kinds of hotels; but, such cheap breakfasts always disappoint.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Was very clean. Had a wide selection for breakfast.
Cons: No we enjoyed our stay. Very quiet rooms.

Pros: Aesthetically very appealing and in good location. Good breakfast with both hot and cold selections. Entire hotel very clean.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, rooms & lobby were superb - excellent condition, very clean. I have stayed at much more expensive hotels that would not measure up to this hotel. Definitely a MUCH better experience than any 2.5 star hotel I've stayed at before. EXCELLENT.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the nicest hotels I've seen at this star rating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Like most hotels on the outside and pink is not my favorite color, I was impressed by the tall ceilings in the room. The tub and fixtures were excellent quality and shone like new. The bedding was nice cotton and there were three big pillows on each bed. I could open the window, though only a sliver. I also appreciated the three hotel carts right there in lobby to unload our gear. The breakfast area was roomy and comfortable, bright with many windows. Plenty of food well arranged.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean.
Cons: Double beds seemed unusually small - wish we could have specified one king bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Work out room
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The comforter on the bed was too small and light. Mattress wasn't that comfortable either.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location is excellent and the added bonus of having a brewery/restaurant in the parking lot is great. The pool is on the smaller side, but it was clean and the towels were regularly refreshed. Our kids loved it.
Cons: Our room was not clean. When we first entered, it smelled awful- like some strange chemical solution had been used to clean it. Then it was only 1/2 cleaned the 2nd day. No vacuum, beds haphazardly thrown together. My 7yr old could have done better.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Scramble eggs and sausages
Cons: I stayed on the first floor. I could hear guests stumps all night so I couldn't sleep well.
