Excellent 8.3
Pros: The room, the firepit
Cons: Breakfast quality was only marginal. Both days food was warm, not hot. First day the english muffin had barely been toasted. The next day I asked for it to be well toasted. First time it came it was like it hadn’t been toasted at all. Sent it back. It came back lightly toasted. After that I gave up.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Inn was cozy and comfortable. Outdoor firepit and game room facilities were a nice surprise. Breakfast was amazing and the wait staff was exceptional.
Cons: Room windows could have been a touch cleaner for the view
Mediocre 2.5
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: I booked two rooms for my guests at Carnegie and my experience was absolutely horrible. The person who checked us in didn't even look at our faces. She had a horrible attitude. I think she was a student, who worked part time there and didn't care about her job. When my guests checked out today, they apparently forgot to return one of the keys. The manager called me on my cell phone with an attitude and raised her voice at me and hung up on me. The reality is her staff should have confirmed that they had all of the keys back, when my guests were checking out to leave State College. Anyway, I still accepted to pay the fee, but I cannot believe she had the guts to yell at me and hung up on me. So rude and inappropriate... The reality is I live very close to Carnegie, and since I work at Penn State, I bring many guests that visit my department to dine there. My wife goes to their spa... I will obviously not bring anyone to Carnegie any more, and my wife will go somewhere else. Clearly the place is poorly managed, which is obvious from the fact that its kitchen burned around a year ago and couldn't be opened for several months..
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was pretty incredible. Very relaxing place to stay. I enjoyed celebrating my graduation weekend at this inn.
Cons: The only negative comment I have is that a grape tomato was on the floor under the desk in our room when we checked in - but it wasn't really a big deal.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: I really like the location. It was a great stay.
Cons: Kitchen was closed.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything
Cons: Awesome place!
Good 7.1
Cons: Hotel construction had much of the lobby and restaurant area led to lack of staff and inability to use the lovely areas behind the hotel featured in the photos. I received a phone call a few days after booking, but no offer to cancel the reservation without losing all my $. This was a significant drawback to the booking.com prepayment process and makes me hesitant to use again.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: rooms were bigger and it was very quiet there which is a plus and the staff was very friendly and helpful. the made to order breakfast was the icing on the cake. the rooms were beautiful. i would love to stay there again.
Cons: yes the pool is over the other side on the street and is shared with apts. also the soda machine and snack machine is also across the street.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Unfortunately, weren't able to enjoy the breakfast. I enjoyed sitting outside around the fire pit. I enjoyed the scenery. Staff very pleasant, very helpful, all around great!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast was amazing and the service was outstanding!
Cons: The WIFI was a little slow.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: I wish it were a little closer to Penn State campus but otherwise room was perfect for our needs, very clean and enough space. The do provide a shuttle to campus on request but we chose to walk there one day. It's about 1.8 miles to East Halls.

Pros: Hot water barely warm enough to take a shower
Good 7.7
Pros: Location, Location, Location. Right on campus, so if visiting Penn State, this is it !!! I've had small rooms and large rooms. This time I got lucky and got a nice large room. However, not nearly enough outlets available for guests' use.
Cons: Only one outlet accessible in room. It's apparent, lots of students work here, but they seem to be teaching mediocrity. Why isn't it being run like a Ritz Carlton. Teach Perfection and the best way to run a hotel !! I was supposed to be picked up at the airport by their shuttle, and apparently, the person taking my reservation never signed me up in the reservation book (or wherever he's supposed to put it). Also, given the wrong price of the dinner buffet (by Over $10/person).
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Location, décor, cleanliness, staff... and the Sunday brunch was THE BEST
Cons: Our room's heated air was suffocating and very noisy
Excellent 8.0
Pros: While disappointed in the management staff, the service staff up front was great. Nice and helpful. Grounds and building were gorgeous. Easy walk to Arts Fest and town. Whiskers was a nice venue to relax with a cocktail.
Cons: Reserved a year in advance for this year's Arts Fest. Four girlfriends. With both elderly parents and young adult children issues, only booked rooms because the third party reservation site bragged that we would be able to cancel up to 24 hours ahead. Three weeks out it became apparent that our issues would make it very difficult to be away from family for that weekend. Called to cancel. Management would not budge from their 30-day cancel policy. (in the fine print on the confirmation) Third party even got involved. They would not budge. They were already sold out and easily could have re-rented those rooms. They would have had happy future alumni customers. We managed for 2 of us to go but 2 were out the money. Nice rooms but dark, fickle A/C sometimes worked and would then turn off, several bugs in bthrm, hot shower turns cold for periods of time.
Excellent 9.7
Cons: Would like to see complimentary coffee and Danish for am
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Loved the feel of staying in a beautiful home, not a hotel. Classy decor and white glove treatment by staff. Anything we wanted at no extra price. Shuttle service is amazing!!!
Cons: Bed was just ok. But I slept well.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Welcoming staff; clean, bright atmosphere.
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Service was outstanding. Dinner in the restaurant was exquisite. Staff makes you feel at home. Great proximity to PSU venues and the airport. Complimentary shuttle service to local destinations is an excellent ammenity. Free apples for guests in the lobby!
Cons: There are no cons to staying here. It might be a bit pricey for some, but the value is excellent for the service and convenience provided at this location.
Good 7.0
Pros: All good except check in. They couldn’t find my reservation with my confirmation umber because it was booked under my middle name instead of my last name!!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. The setting was on campus. Rooms were very comfortable and internet was fast
Okay 5.0
Cons: No hot water on a cold Gameday AM is not what I would expect from a place like this....at that price point
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The Nittany Lion Inn is an icon of State College. However, it is showing it’s age a bit. The second floor room we stayed in featured a cracked sink and wallpaper peeling. Our first morning was without hot water, but it was addressed and was fine the second morning. Staff is as good as any 5 star NY hotel. Whiskers bar is always fun, albeit a bit pricey for the alcohol offered. All in all the on campus Inn is still the grand old lady of hospitality at Penn State.
Cons: Stated above

Excellent 8.5
Pros: Room was very nice.
Cons: Check in location and parking was confusing. Need a more welcoming entrance, and to be more clear about where to pull in and where to go when checking in.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: It was animal friendly
Cons: The parking for this hotel is just plain wrong. You never know until you get there, that you must park in a parking deck and pay $11 a day. The hotel card never worked in the parking deck. Always had to take a ticket to get in and get help to get out.

Excellent 9.4
Pros: wonderful unique room! Cozy corner to read (#290), Friendly staff, easy check-in / out, quick shuttle service to Arts Festival, responsive engineering staff to broken clock, Garden restaurant was great for breakfast! Room was very crisp and clean, high and low, bathroom floor was very clean! BIG windows were a plus, too! Excellent lighting options - all on florescent or low reading lights, desk light!
Cons: Clean vent in the shower, new carpet needed or a very deep cleaning. Hot Tub not warm enough, Keirig - spot where you put the cup was filled with dirty water (the catch cup thing).
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Quiet, clean, close proximity to Penn State University
Cons: No
Okay 4.0
Pros: The staff was very friendly.
Cons: The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The sheets were not soft and made lots of noise with regular sleeping habits. It was definitely not what I expected when booking. I have had better stays at cheaper hotels.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It was an attractive hotel with clean rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly staff . The Pub restaurant they had on the premises had delicious food with a variety of options. It was also conveniently located near our University tour.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.4
Pros: We cane out to Penn State for Special Olympics. Unable to give a fair review as we were only in the hotel for about 8 hours due to a late arrival and early departure. Very nice hotel and staff though with our limited stay. Will stay again, hopefully for a little longer!
Cons: Not at the hotel long enough to provide a fair opinion.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very clean and pleasant. The outside can be deceiving if you are expecting a fancy exterior. The interior is very well maintained and beautiful.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great location and staff were very friendly & helpful
Cons: No
Good 6.0
Pros: The shuttle service was such a blessing! Very helpful getting us to and from our event. The staff was wonderful! Fireplace in the lobby was warm and welcoming. Sheets were outstanding. Suite had all we needed and more!
Cons: Only problem was having double beds in the suite was unpleasant. Perhaps that was all that was available when I booked because I did book the last room for the night we needed, but they were very uncomfortable.
Excellent 9.7
Pros: Beautiful, comfortable, and convenient
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The convenience of attending continuing ed classes in same facility as my lodging.
Cons: They should upgrade the toilet paper.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was great. Well stocked, did not have to wait for anything. Loved the Halloween decorations in the lobby. Staff was friendly and assisted me with a map of the area.
Cons: From my experience I don't have any suggestions for improvement.
Excellent 9.0
Cons: Close to Penn State and Rec Hall.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: A really nice hotel.
Cons: This is a really nice hotel, but it is hard to find and access, especially in the dark and with ongoing road construction in the area. Even GPS apps are hard to follow.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Convenient location.
Cons: Breakfast was not that good it’s better to eat in a diner.
Good 7.9
Pros: Staff were exceptional and breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Non-conference facilities shared spaces (hallways and stairwells) and some areas of the room (ex. Bathroom - tub and doors) were run down. Housekeeping never came during our 2 day stay.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great big room, cozy bed, friendly staff, good breakfast and location, loved the free coffee and late hours for the pool/hot tub
Cons: The tv was on the smaller side and the jets in the hot tub were facing upwards which had the water splashing in our faces, but these are very tiny things and we very much enjoyed the hotel and will be staying again.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location, Pool, Spa, Breakfast, Staff... What Fun!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The location was 5 minutes away from our family whom we were visiting. We enjoyed the breakfast and the pool. The staff were most friendly. Shortly after we entered our room the front desk called inquiring as to our satisfaction with the room. At all the places we stayed, that was the first time we received such a call. I believe Mary Ann made that call. After a couple of days, the toilet began to run continually. We reported the matter to the front desk on a Sunday before we left that morning. When we came back later that day, Scott corrected the problem on a Sunday.
Cons: Nothing, we were more than completely satisfied.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very polite people
Cons: No
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: Breakfast was good
Cons: Bathroom sink was clogged and did not drain. Housekeeping was still in my room cleaning at 5:00 PM on my second day stay! Beds were uncomfortable. Room was way too hot and HVAC controls did not work!
Mediocre 3.0
Cons: The price was not what was expected. The hotel charged progressive each day stayed, was well over what was quoted. Not Happy at all. Pool water not circulating enough seemed like filter or something plugged.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Friendly Staff, Nice Hot Tub and Pool
Cons: No

Pros: Great hotel, amazing breakfast, very friendly staff! Free large parking, original room design. have everything you need! We really enjoyed!
Cons: A room was dusty, I was allergic to dust, and my allergy usualy was very mild, the hotels did not have to drink an allergy pill, but at this hotel I realized that the dust level was too high and drank the pill. A cabinets are so dusty that you can write. hair on a carpet, seed from citrus. the shower stall was dirty before we arrived. this is a really good hotel, but managers need to carefully monitor the work of the maids

Excellent 9.6
Cons: The only thing I thought could be better was the vanity area. The lighting wasn't that great. Also, the vent didn't blow in that area and it was a very hot muggy time so getting ready for a wedding was a little on the warm side.

Pros: Great breakfast buffet! Front desk very helpful and friendly at all times, knows the area very well. Same staffing so you got used it certain faces and we were always greeted as we entered!

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very clean. Comfortable bed. Better than average breakfast buffet with decent low carb options.

Okay 5.4
Pros: The staff was pleasant
Cons: The beds were very uncomfortable, and the pool area was disquieting (we left the pool in the evening), returned the next morning and the towels were still piled up. To much moisture in the pool area so the windows and roof have mold, condensation, and pockets of water.

Pros: Overall was good stay
Cons: Bed was to soft
Okay 4.0
Cons: The hostess. She was too busy w/another guest being tended by someone else w/ a last minute reserv. looking for a 2 queen bed. The woman barely greeted us. We have nothing available she said. We had reserv. & then she said do u really need a 2 beds? RUDE

Cons: Terrible, worst nights sleep ever. Room right behind the lift shaft. Would have slept better in the car.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Didn't have breakfast at the location. However, we did have dinner there. A little pricy but the food and staff were fantastic.
Cons: The towels at the pool were a little thin.
Excellent 9.0

Cons: N/A
Good 6.7
Pros: after eating breakfast with my wife a server came to the table and asked if we were ready for the bill? I said bill?, what bill? she said for your breakfast. we said isn't that part of the room stay? She said no. I said we should have been told that before hand. Why didn't the front desk person tell us this when we checked in? We will NEVER stay here again very miss leading experience. Deceptive set up at this Hilton Hotel. We know this area very well and have plenty of other hotels we will choose from next time. You loose Hilton Garden Inn. See ya!
Cons: Proper communication by front desk staff. The staff is lazy and uninterested in doing the job well.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Very good location, but i didn't book hotel breakfast because on East College road there are many restaurants including the really authentic Chinese food (not "sesame chicken" or what) along the street! Spa, gym, and swimming pool are also outstanding.
Cons: In the lobby there is no elevator nor sign of elevator so customers are often confused (as i was told by the housekeeper: everyone was asking...) In fact, if you enter the door and will find the elevator in middle of the hallway. No big deal but it would be perfect if there is sign or explanation in the lobby.
Excellent 10.0

Pros: Aesthetically very appealing and in good location. Good breakfast with both hot and cold selections. Entire hotel very clean.
Cons: Pillows were old, lumpy foam rubber. The mattresses were hard and like sleeping on the floor. There were 2 double beds in the room and both were old. When you turned over, you could hear the springs squeaking and creaking. Beds need updating.

Okay 5.0
Pros: Good location, reasonably clean.

Good 6.0
Pros: I liked the location and the front desk staff. The reason I rated the hotel as high as I did is because of the front desk staff. very pleasant and very helpful.
Cons: There was no hot water in the bathroom sink. The hotel was overpriced because Penn State had a home football game. We paid $300 a night with a minimum of a 2-night stay.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The staff member was really nice and helpful. The hotel has free parking and hot breakfast.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: On the main drag, comfortable, near Penn State, restaurants and two supermarkets

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great staff, very accommodating. We had a medical emergency, a kidney stone, that required us to stay 2 extra nights, and the staff did a great job of extending our stay.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Love the location of this hotel. It’s close to shopping, restaurants. We have stayed here several times over the past couple of years. However, this time we noticed that our room, especially the bathroom wasn’t very clean. There was a layer of dust behind the toilet, on the baseboards and under the sink as well as on the bed frame. Would hope they would increase their standards and train their cleaning staff better.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I loved the bed, it was so comfortable!!

Excellent 9.0
Pros: The Hampton Inn in State College has been around a while, but they've maintained the property well considering how much business it gets. One small touch: mattress had an allergy proof cover plus a mattress pad. Much appreciated by those with allergies!
Good 6.0
Pros: The hot breakfast was nice and offered a decent selection (hot and cold items) so that my picky eater found something to eat.
Cons: The walls are paper thin so we heard everyone in the hallways, above us and next door.
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: Location; staff; breakfast and breakfast staff were excellent.
Cons: Noisey area; from neighbors and parking lot. No microwave or refrigerator. We stayed in the same hotel last year and loved it; this one did not keep us happy; we will be looking elsewhere this fall.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The appearance of the hotel says 'we care.' It was not ultra fancy, but well maintained and the staff was wonderful and attentive. The breakfast is nice.
Cons: The room did not have fridge or microwave. I was a little disappointed.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I thought this location went above and beyond. The staff was always very friendly. At the coffee station they even had pumpkin spice creamer which was a special treat and made my morning!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was great. The location to the concert at BJC was perfect. We have stayed here several times and have always had a pleasant experience.
Good 6.0
Pros: The location for what we needed and the breakfast.
Cons: That you needed to sign up for the wifi and we still couldn't get it to work. Also the towels very hard and scratchy.
Good 6.0
Cons: Room wasn't ready despite checking in after 5:00pm. House keeping failed to empty trash. Sports Bar which shares same parking lot had rock band playing outdoors until 10:45pm creating incredible noise. Not acceptable.
Good 7.0
Pros: I am a frequent Hampton inn user. The hotel was about average for most of the Hampton Inns I have stayed. Though I have stayed at some nice recently renovated ones. Time for a renovation for this site
Cons: I booked a "double" which I thought meant 2 double beds. Wrong. One double in a small corner room. My teenage son slept on the floor giving mom the bed. Not advertised properly. I paid hotel prices for the floor!! And the bill was off by $100 to boot!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Facility, staff, and location were great.
Good 6.0
Pros: Plenty of parking. Right next to a sports bar restaurant.
Cons: Free breakfast left much to be desired - pretty typical, though, for these kinds of hotels; but, such cheap breakfasts always disappoint.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Was very clean. Had a wide selection for breakfast.
Cons: No we enjoyed our stay. Very quiet rooms.
