7.0 Good
Pros: It was a fabulous welcome - provided with drinks and a cheese platter on arrival in the lovely courtyard restaurant. Was the best arrival of any hotel we have stayed at. The room was very large and the staff wonderful. The restaurant was excellent for breakfast, which was included in the price, and for dinner. The location was very central, close to everything in the old town, yet it was quiet.
Cons: The bathroom did not have a shower and the room (and only window) was facing a rundown building. This unfortunately required keeping the blinds closed which did make the room dark and closed in. In addition, the bathroom had a glass wall that backed on to the common staircase. This made it difficult to block the light at night and did allow for some other guest noise, including accessing of the spa on the floor above us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality, the welcome drink and snack, the unique room and many more ..
Cons: Cappuccino at breakfast is a standard in almost all 4* and 5* hotels I visited in Europe and should not be at optional costs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was great and very well located. Their restaurant is rated best in the town and it had a great breakfast too.
Cons: The jacuzzi bath did not have a shower element which was a little inconvenient.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was top notch! I loved the courtyard where they serve breakfast and dinner. It’s filled with plants, it has a huge date palm tree, a lime tree full o& fruits, pots of plants everywhere! The candy suite that we stayed in had a balcony which was pretty secluded. We used it often, for reading books and having a glass of wine. The staff are so warm and caring and genuinely interested in us and our needs. The dinner was outstanding. They do have a reputation for being the top quality restaurant in town, but honestly, the food was even better than I expected to be. I would stay in Avli every time I’m in Rethymno, no question about it.
Cons: There is nothing not to like!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and beautiful and food was really good. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful especially Stelios (reception) who is btw a total cutie <3 for whom u will wanna come back for hehehe. He helped us a lot to find great places to have fun in rethimno and we hug him and thank him for his help. Oh and the jacuzzy was great and u have a great view of the city there as well.
Cons: I dont have anything negative to say about this place everyrhing was amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The personel, the welcome drink, the room, the bathroom, the pool on the rooftop, the breakfast, the restaurant, everything was amazing here, we wished we could have stayed longer, best hotel we staying in during our whole trip to creta!
Cons: Nothing to declare here!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Greek hospitality at Avli was exceptional and exceeded any reasonable expectations - the staff and management were all friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable holiday. When we needed to leave before breakfast on a trip to Knossos they served us a beautiful breakfast in our room and a picnic for lunch. The food, drink and service was excellent and we were sad to leave Avli for now, but hope to return one day. It was a brilliant introduction to Greece for my daughter and I would strongly recommend Avli to any person on business or holiday staying in Crete.
Cons: A map of the old town would be useful for visitors that drive themselves or get a taxi from the airport. Avli organised a private taxi for us and the driver was very friendly and took us straight to the hotel, but the narrow streets in the old town can be confusing for first time visitors that are trying to locate the hotel themselves.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best service in Crete, beuatiful apartments with all the small details which make you happy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was incredibly helpful, the location is perfect and close to a car park (20€ for 2 days), they gave us a wonderful welcome aperitif, and even prepared breakfast for us the evening before a very early departure and made packed lunches for our hike with local produce! Both restaurants are great : the food at the main restaurant (also called Avli) is amazing and the food at their Cretan tapas bar (raki ba raki) was also very good and great value for money. Make sure to try the wine too!!
Cons: Loved everything !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was large and very spacious, the staff were all really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in the garden restaurant which is beautiful. We also did the cooking class hosted by Katerina which was phenomenal. We would definitely recommend it!
Menta City Boutique Hotel - Rethymno - Bedroom
2
9.5 Excellent (1,136 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Menta City Boutique Hotel in Rethymno, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Fortezza Castle and Great Gate. Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The team at the reception is super friendly and we felt very comfortable. We are traveling a lot but probably haven't ever felt so fast like being at home - which we mean in a very positive manner. The hotel and its interior is very new and very nice. Well, except the partially broken parasol - sorry guys to have it finally broken totally ;-)
Cons: After reading the reviews of others, we expected an awesome, super rich breakfast. In our opinion, it's just a bit better than regular - except the hand made pies - they are delicious. We personally would e.g. prefer a slightly bigger selection of cereals. The cleanliness of the room was totally fine but not perfect. But guys, that's really just complaining on a very high comfort level. We can still highly recommend this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was excellent, from the greeting to my departure. All the staff are really welcoming and friendly. The breakfast is amazing. The room was spacious, light and comfortable. Everywhere is very clean and taken care of. I really enjoyed my stay at Menta.
Cons: It was all good
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous hotel in a mainly residential area, uphill from the old town
Cons: Walk up and down to centre could be challenging due to parked cars.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful seaside town of Rethymno and the historic north shore of Crete. The room was ideal - spacious, clean, comfortable, had a handy fridge for storing local delicacies and a neat little balcony to sit on and enjoy the blue skies with a cool drink. There is a small gym and steam room in the hotel which was great for me, and an outdoor pool which is a real sun-trap in the afternoons. The breakfast was a delight, served on the roof terrace with great views over the town and the coastline, and more cake than you can shake a stick at! Staff were all welcoming and helpful. Overall, fantastic value for money and a great experience.
Cons: OK, the pool could have been a tad bigger, but really, I’m struggling to fault this gem of a holiday home-from-home.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice room with a very big balcony Friendly Staff Design
Cons: Swimming Pool with no much sun in the morning
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The stuff was helpful and very kind, the room was big and clean. We had a nice view, but didn't have enough time to enjoy it completely.
Cons: Only filter coffee was included in breakfast price. If you want esspresso, you have to extra pay for it, which would be ok if it was a hostel, not 9+ hotel, and especially since we stayed at the superior apartment, as they told us, the best apartment in the hotel..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has been finished to the highest standards. Very quiet and the room was big and the bed very comfortable.A lovely big balcony and beautiful pool.
Cons: Nothing we didn't like.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and the staff was very kind and helpful, giving us tips what to do around the city and what are the best beaches nearby. The breakfast was really good and the rooftop is the best spot to see the skyline of the city.
Cons: The neighborhood was quite dark at night, but it was very safe. Moreover the windows are soundproof and even if we had a street view, we weren’t bothered.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: the room was fabulous and the hotel was very modern and clean
Cons: breakfast - very disorganised - sometimes there would be no food ready/available and the tables were not cleared away - no toaster had to use the panini toaster and they ran out of teabags !!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is very well positioned (max 5 minutes walking to the beach, to restaurants, to shops and a super-market). It has a very friendly staff and owner and also a very good breakfast. It's the perfect place to stay and relax with your family. You can stay at the pool and have a drink at the bar or you can go to the beach. Our time here was great!
Cons: Just one suggestion: the light bulbs in the room should have warm colors, the current blue-neon lights are a little bit not welcoming.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location suited our needs (we were going to a wedding locally). Pool was very good with Roman steps. Parking just outside. Short walk to the beach, shops, cafes and bars. Bed was comfortable, and bathroom newly renovated. Staff were friendly.
Cons: There was an smell of damp and drains each time you opened the door to our room. The breakfast location was good - outside. However the quality of the coffee/orange/juices were poor. If you arrived towards the end of the breakfast period there was only a limited selection.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cosy family place. 3 minutes walk to the public beach (chairs are 3 euro each). 2 minutes walk to Platanias shops and restaurants. 2 pools and beautiful rooms. Great hosts.
Cons: If only there was a private beach...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. The staff is so friendly. Kind attentions and smiles all day long. Nice pools, great rooms and fantastic location. Breakfast was great. Gonna miss that Family!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcoming smiles upon arrival from Emma, and a very clean and airy feel on first impressions!
Cons: That I couldn’t have spent longer there. It was a very short trip for me unfortunately due to having to travel back early for work.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were all very nice and Incredibly helpful. The first room we were given wasn't really suitable for our needs, but we were able to change the next morning for one that was, which was great. The place was very clean and modern and the breakfast was amazing. Our flight was leaving late so we also managed to get a room for the day which was a great help with two kids! the high reviews are totally deserved. I can't recommend it enough.
Cons: The WiFi signal in the rooms was pretty poor. The draught beer at the bar is not great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved this hotel and it exceeded both our expectations. It was a last minute booking as we were in the area and we weren’t expecting much. The price we paid proved to be amazing value for what we got; from facilities, the amazing room which was new, super clean & super modern design and amazing comfort. The included breakfast with lots of in house baked food & jams and great selection. We were also surprised at the level of hospitality and professionalism of all staff. This is a family owned hotel who have worked very hard to build this business and really appreciate every guest. The gift upon check out was unexpected and very much appreciated.
Cons: We genuinely don’t have a single complaint.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a quite family hotel which was exactly what we were looking for. The apartment was very comfortable and implacably clean. A beautiful beach just 5-10 min walk away form the hotel is another bonus. I would be happy to go back and can definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking for a quite family vacation!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All of the staff were beyond friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms are very modern, clean and practical - but they are charming as well. Multiple pools, including options for (young) children.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our first visit to Crete so we were unsure what to expect in terms of the area we chose. Maybe because it was September, most tourists in Platanias were over 40 so it suited us perfectly! Amazing apartment - modern design and high-end finish , spotlessly clean, everything needed supplied. Staff were lovely - friendly and helpful yet not obtrusive or pushy. breakfast fine. location excellent for exploring region - easy access to Rethmyno by bus or an enjoyable walk along the coast. We stayed in Mary Hotel for 2 weeks and never got bored. great restaurants and bars nearby with lots of veggie options. fantastic beach a short stroll away. Overall would recommend for a relaxing holiday with plenty to do and see when you want to - take a trip to the south coast, its beautiful!

Apartment was in a great central location and easy to access the tours, all the restaurants and the beach. It comes with a kitchen area which is great if you want have your own drinks, on the roof there is a seating area with the great view. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay in rethymnon, the pre-arrival contacts were warm and efficient, we were travelling with a 2 years old kid and a crib was made available for us which was really appreciated The owner welcomed us in person and took the time to show us around even though it was very late in the evening. The place is well arranged and fully equiped with top quality equipment (bedding, bed sheets etc) The bathroom is particularly nice, bright, well aired, with a huge shower! The rooftop is also really nice, with a great sea view (we had breakfast there twice!)
Cons: Even though there is double gazling, some noise from the harbour can be heard from time to time but not a major disturbance for us
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and well equipped appartment. Spotless clean, perfect central location and view from the balcony. Very good quality of sleep.
Cons: All perfect
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The appartment was really good located in the downtown with a sea view. Decoration was nice and we had water and cookies when we arrived. Zina was absolutely kind and she recommended us a tasty restaurant : Lemonokipos (one of our favorite during our trip in Crete). Great place to be in Rethymno.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We made the reservation with about 20 minutes notice. Host met us immediately and let us in. Excellent location. Extremely clean and very well done renovation. our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the harbor. There is also a rooftop terrace. Host provided fruit, cookies, and water in the refrigerator. House also provided tea bags and coffee. very nice place, would stay there again and strongly recommended for anyone who wants to stay there. Even though it is centrally located, when you close the windows and the shutters it is very quiet. Thank you for an excellent stay.

Pros: The host Zina was was very helpful. The facilities were clean comfortable and luxurious. The roof top terrace was great for afternoon drinks and the view was wonderful. The location was handy to everything. We would come back anytime.

Pros: Everything about the hotel was excellent and the level of service was second to none. The beautiful and peaceful courtyard was a particular feature and provided a lovely oasis of calm in the centre of the Old Town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely calm oasis in the old town of Rethymno Loved the delicious breakfast in the courtyard
Cons: Nothing Enjoyed
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was delicious and staff always friendly and helpful. Amazing pool / breakfast area.
Cons: Smoking during breakfast - we would prefer just one place for smokers in the whole place. You cannot sleep with an open window, it is too busy and loud on the street also during the night.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Attractive boutique hotel with a great location in the heart of the old town.
Cons: Many of the rooms are very overlooked. We had one of the superior rooms on the first floor overlooking the pool but unfortunately had to keep our curtains closed for most of the time as people could see right into our room from the external staircase leading up to some of the other rooms. This problem appeared even worse for those staying on the ground floor who seemed to have to keep their shutters closed all day, or otherwise settle with people looking into their rooms from the pool side / whilst having breakfast. The view out our back window was also anything but superior - there was an air conditioning unit and a ladder was being stored there! Our shower head also needed descaling and water was only coming out of halve the holes. We let reception know this on our first day and they said they would get someone to take a look at this, but this was not rectified during our three night stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is ideal for exploring the old town. Breakfast is served by the pool and was a relaxing experience, we had the poached eggs, OMG very perfect!!, I'm a poached egg fanatic and this exceeded my expectation. Room was very comfy. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we hope to return soon x
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, peaceful courtyard, delicious breakfast, helpful staff, lovely cocktails and comfortable room. An excellent stay. Thoroughly recommend. Thank you to all the staff who worked so hard and went out of their way to help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pepi Boutique Hotel is a small gem in the centre of the busy Old town of Rethymno but situated in a quiet alley. It is a beautiful old building that was renovated by the family into modern , spacious rooms with a small but convenient kitchenette and bathroom. It was very convenient to walk out the front door and after a few meters have access to lots of small shops and many Tavernas . A small beach next to the harbour is also within walking distance as well as lots of sightseeing. Manos at the reception desk was very friendly and always helpfull and informative. He referred us to a small Taverna with very good Greek food where we ate twice - this was a great help as there are so many tavernas to choose from and not all of them with good food. All the ladies who served breakfast as wel as the cleaning staff were also always very friendly and very hard working. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection of fresh products as well as a choice of warm breakfasts. The sparkling pool and pool area with lots of trees, loungers as well as small tables and chairs were like paradise after walking around in the heat to do shopping or after sightseeing. There were always enough clean pool towels on hand.
Cons: Our only complaints are that there are no extractors in the bathrooms and the shower cubicles are very small but one must take in consideration that it is a very old building and presumably difficult make everything perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, upon arrival we were greeted by the wonderful staff who sat us down with a glass of homemade lemonade which went down a treat, we were then given a tour of the facilities and taken to our room which was beautiful, very spacious, spotlessly clean with fridge and even little hob, the room we were in was on the ground floor which was lovely and as we opened the door there was the sun terrace and pool, there were plenty of sun beds and fresh towels available for sun bathing everyday as this is an adults only hotel it is very quiet and you are able to totally relax. Breakfast is included and is superb freshly prepared and great selection, there is also freshly prepared hot breakfast dishes cooked to order. There is also a lunch & cocktail menu available all freshly prepared. The Staff are wonderful and offer excellent service and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is well located to local shops and restaurants and within easy reach of the beach. A truly wonderful holiday experience, highly recommended and definitely recommend.
Cons: There is not one thing I didn't like! For me this hotel ticked all the boxes, superb! stay there
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything at this hotel! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and we received a lot of good recommendations for what to do and where to eat in the area. The garden and pool area are really wonderful and every morning we enjoyed the delicious breakfast by the pool. Everything was also very clean and the rooms are nicely decorated. The small stylish hotel is located in the old town, close to a lot of shops and places to eat, but still on a very quiet street. Would definitely choose to stay here again when we will visit Crete another time! Thank you so much for everything!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly personnel, very helpful and welcoming! Always ready to help, including with personal issues. The hotel is very clean, quiet and nice. It is situated just 200 meters from the public beach and it is actually in the old city center.
Cons: There is nothing that we did not really like, but the breakfast variety could be improved. It is good in fact but after a week of stay one would expect some changes of what is served. Otherwise, the quality and assortment are quite good.
6.7 Good
Pros: Breakfast, cleanliness, politeness of staff
Cons: Location and no room service, no bar or food, besides breakfast, pool was pathetic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The standard of the room was very good. It was a friendly and well organised hotel. The breakfast is excellent and the staff are delightful. Location very good for enjoying the town and beach.
Cons: Connectivity to internet on 2nd floor was patchy but fine in the centre of the building.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff was very nice and readily willing to help out. The breakfast selection was great with the chef available to explain and recommend what to have. In addition to the above the room was huge.
Cons: The lack of parking space was the biggest issue. The hotel was selected mainly for the fact that they had their own parking lot, only to find out upon reaching that it was full and had to look for parking on the nearby streets which took over 30min. This was very frustrating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and such friendly staff. Cleanliness was excellent
Cons: Couldn’t fault anything
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was absolutely marvellous! About the staff, were very friendly and kind! The room was a big suite, was isolated from the other rooms so we had quite for the baby..We had also a bed for our 4mo baby next to our bed!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property is well located near lots of restaurants and a lovely beach. Owner Elias and all staff were welcoming and very accommodating and awaited our arrival even though it was after midnight. Staff ensured our apartment was cleaned each day and were very friendly. We were also treated very fairly as we unable to arrive on the reserved date due to bad weather and we were not charged for the extra day.
Cons: I think a couple of additions could improve the comfort of guests by adding a bunch of staples in the kitchen cupboard, for example, salt, pepper, sugar and some basic condiments would avoid having to buy even the minimum amount that is more than needed for a short stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a pretty island style building, and the owner is very friendly. We had an excellent and well equipped room a little withdrawn from the road and with a marvellous view of the blue sea.
Cons: The beach road is rather noisy and not very pleasant the closer you get to the centre.

Pros: Everything! Great room, view, hospitality, food, terrace, service, bath, bed, atmosphere. The whole picture
Cons: It would have been nice to bath like the Turkish sultan who constructed the original building as his summerhouse.... there is a pool and the beach. Just would have been nice to recreate that feeling.

Pros: This was a beautiful place to stay. It was a little difficult to find and to park but once inside everything was wonderful. Reception and other staff were all very friendly. Very nice stay for our honeymoon. They went above and beyond to create a wonderful visit, as well cool/ style and relaxing atmosphere. Thank you!
Cons: Parking description.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Overall hospitality was outstanding!!! The staff were accommodating, genuine and helpful  on all our needs. The interior styling was superb . The rooms are spacious, elegant and clean with very comfortable beds. One of the greatset rooms i have been so far. The sea view from our room was amazing. There is also private jacuzzi in our balcony which was a big surprise for us.  We have managed to try the spa services of the hotel. The whole service was really relaxing.  Restaurant was in high level with very tasty greek plates. Breakfast was excellent as well as the dinner in their outdoor space. Really nice atmosphere, specially when the sun goes down, when you can also enjoy some unique cocktails from the open bar. The management and staff here are extraordinary and deserve all the recognition they receive. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, friendly staff, clean & beautiful beach, delicious breakfast
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything but mostly the rooftop jacuzzi and sunbathing area.
Cons: The only downside is I wish it had a pool which we knew it didn’t when we booked it but it would have just added that extra touch.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Jacuzzi didn't work
Cons: Amazing location, best location
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location, the space in the room, all the design, the furniture. The view is beautuful if you took a room with sea view. Also, the staff was amazing. Really helpful when we needed advice and very kind. Great service!
Cons: Some features on the digital panels were not working (the curtains, some lights: summer and romantic scenes for instance). The jacuzzi did not work either.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff and service. Excellent breakfast. The beach is right on the other side of the street. The center is not that far away.
Cons: A little expensive, though it was very nice. We would have enjoyed a swimming pool for that budget.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Looked clean modern and was very comfortable. The rooms were a good size. Beds were comfortable and the showers were great.
Cons: I didn’t like the fact that there was no pool. It was very windy and could not swim at the beach. It would of been good to have an alternative option for swimming.

Pros: Everything was great

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was welcoming and helpful from the moment I booked the reservation to checking in as well as during my stay! I stayed upstairs in Room 3 with its own little porch and I think of it as the “Blue Room”. It was beautifully decorated with a private seating area as well as very comfortable bed and lovely artwork from the previous owner who was also a well-known Greek artist. The room has a deep bathtub and amenities for soaking after a day at the beach or exploring the Fortress in Rethymnon. The hosts were quick to offer coffee when I arrived and sat down with a map to acquaint me with the winding alleys that lead to the port and the beaches.
Cons: I think they’ve thought about just about everything you could need.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I wish I remembered her name but the woman at reception and who served breakfast in the morning was so very friendly, nice and helpful, giving us helpful advice and seeing to our every need. She couldn’t have been any better and made us feel right at home,
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was a mixture of buffet and made to order all very good. First class restaurant next door. We arrived after midnight but someone was waiting to meet us,we did contact the hotel to let them know our flight details.
Cons: Bed a little on the firm side for us but did not spoil our stay would visit again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Catherine and her mother were the best hosts very friendly and any requests where not a bother they were very accommodating and would highly recommend their hotel for your stay. We are just sad that we only stayed for one night!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location right in town which is what we wanted. It was only an overnight stay so we were not bothered about a pool etc. This was more 'boutique'. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was in a little courtyard.
Cons: i could not shut the window that looked into the centre of the hotel, but that may have been my mistake. As it was only one night and we took our valuables with us, it did not matter. I am not that keen either on glass bathroom doors, although it was not clear glass!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Bellagio is in a perfect location in the old town with all the great places to eat close by and the beach a 5 minute walk away. Our room was immaculate and we had an excellent nights sleep on the very comfortable bed during our stay. Breakfast was always very good with a wide selection of local fruit, pastries and produce plus the omelettes which were very special and tasty. What made the stay special for us was our hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them and they were always available to speak to and help with advice on where to eat, which beaches to visit and with all round good local knowledge. If you are staying in Rethymno the Bellagio should be top of your list to stay in. Excellent!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very genuine, helpful and motherly. Really felt like home away from home! They gave us good suggestions and also good advice.
Cons: The beds were a little hard for our liking, but otherwise the hotel experience was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent choices for breakfast. Tea or coffee and biscuits offered each time we came in for no cost.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice little hotel, a modern adaption retaining a sense of the old. Staff, including Catherine, very helpful and friendly, breakfasts plentiful and good to keep you going through the day. Food options in the old town are many and very tasty. Beaches in south of Rethymno province are superb, if you like lovely sand, mountain backdrop, and relatively calm waters for swimming. We visited Skinaria, Damnino and Theopetra beaches, albeit some windy roads, particularly Theopetra at end. Knossos worth a visit with guide.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service and breakfast. Quality decor and ambiance. Great location
Cons: Air conditioner unit not working properly and leaking water. No tea making facility in the room. Rather expensive

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic staff. Stelios was the perfect host, made us feel so welcome. Unbeatable view. Great facilities all round.
Cons: Being pale Scots, we would have liked a little more shade around the pool, but other than that - perfect stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Personal was very friendly and helpful. I haven't ever met this kindnes towards tourists. We ordered the sea view room but we was surprised when we got the sea view room with private swimming pool. For students it was very big and lovely gift. Breakfast was very good to! Highly recommend! If we could, we would give them 15/10 points
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Archipelagos is an amazing choice for your vacation in Rethymno! Walking distance from the old city and on the beach! Select a room with a sea view for a memorable stay! The owner is more than welcome to greet you upon your arrival and assist with anything you may require! Highly recommend this place!

Cons: Nithing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed there for a week and everything was perfect ! Upon arrival, the manager Stelios gave us tips on what to visit, where to eat and made us feel very welcome. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the bartender Giorgos will always put a smile on your face ! We stayed in a studio with a private swimming pool, everything was very clean and newly renovated and housekeeping was perfect ! Rethymno is a beautiful place to visit and the team from Archipelagos Residence definitely added to our great experience thanks to its outstanding services We will definitely come back !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was fantastic, stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was plenty of room for me and my family. The room was modern, with a small seating area that doubled-up as an extra bed, the main bedroom could be separated off for added privacy which was a big plus. The room and communal areas (reception, pool area etc) were spotless. The location of the hotel was very good and was an easy walk into the Old Town. Another plus of the location is it is much quieter than the main beach area of Rethymno but you have excellent views of the Fortezza. The pool area in on the second floor and overlooks bay and you do not have to fight for a sunbed. Staff were very friendly and the service standard was excellent, they told you good places to eat in town and were very attentive. All in all, I would definitely stay there again.
Cons: Nothing, a lovely hotel.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were very clean and well appointed. The staff were courteous
Cons: The hotel caters mainly for package tour groups. We were asked for a 2.5 euro per day surcharge to use the room safe, which was waived when we complained (we have never been asked for this at any other hotel). There is also a Euro 10 deposit for pool towels. Cannot get espresso coffee at breakfast, which is really unacceptable in a 4 star hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Booked half board for seven nights and the food was superb . Rooms were really spacious and spotlessly clean with a huge balcony .Staff throughout the hotel cleaners, reception , waitress's were always helpful and courteous , special mentions for Christos the Rooms Division manager who was able to accommodate me in the hotel at very short notice and was extremely helpful . Next time I am in Rethymnon I will definitely be staying at the Atrium Ambiance .
Cons: The only minor critisism I have is the lack of English channels on the television , but this is being very picky .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is great: recently renovated, clean, nicely designed. The staff members were always friendly and helpful. It's just a 30 minutes walk to the historical center from the hotel but there are many cafes, restaurants, and stores nearby. Their own restaurant served amazing breakfasts and dinners, it was hard to try everything because of the huge variety of tasty meals. The hotel doesn't have music parties and kids under 14 are not allowed, so it's also really quiet.
Cons: Paid drinks during the dinner, even a cup of tea.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were unbelievably helpful and kind. They couldn’t have been friendlier and the hotel couldn’t have been nicer in anyway. The waitresses were wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very helpful and friendly (and i include everyone here, reception desk but also bartenders, cleaning staff or restaurant people) and made the stay amazing all along, also the pool is great, premises are excellent, just like the location, very close to the beach but at the same time really quiet, last but not least room was spacious, bed very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was always yummy, varied, fresh and tasty.
Cons: Some people might be less happy with the dinner buffet, but it's harder to make people happy that way than with the breakfast and in my opinion the staff did a great job with a Greek night with typical gyros, so even if it was a challenge, you could tell they made sure to try and make residents as happy as possible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely modern clean hotel. Excellent pool chairs and pool beds. Brilliant wi fi. So good we extended our stay by 2 nights.
Cons: Can't fault anything. Excellent hotel and facilities
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great pool area, yummy breakfast, loved the room
Cons: Pay for safety box, pay cash deposit for towels wasn't told so had to go back up to the 5th floor to get money, room towels like sand terrible
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and customer service was excellent. No problems with earlier breakfest/last mimute room switch. Also, super- communicative bartenders:)
Cons: Additional payment for drinks during the dinner
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice hotel location, big room, generous breakfast buffet.
Cons: Paying for mineral water during dinner is disgusting. Adding 10E to total hotel price is nothing but asking for everyday payment is really annoying. BTW, the water price is four time the market price. Had to ask a receptionist for a shower gel, no new gel bottle was brought to the bathroom in 4 days.

Pros: the bed was amazing to sleep in, the breakfast yummy -highly recommend it!
Cons: the lock on the door was hard to get up. They were fixing it when we left.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we entered the venetian building of the 1600's we where enveloped be a cool and fragrant atmosphere. The building is restored to a modern boutique hotel, but some beautiful arquitectural details are preserved giving you the sense of historical continuity. The staff was great and professional, the rooms where amazing and the breakfast on the terrace was great. What s even better is the attention to detail that is present from the way this hotel is run, to the rooms themselves. An excellent choice of a hotel that we are looking forward to return!
Cons: Nothing, really...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great roof terrace. Had sun terrace room - like a lovely apartment on the edge of all that the town has to offer - Great !
9.6 Excellent
Pros: - for uns a perfect location in center of the old town - beautiful ambience and decoration in the whole hotel - nice room, comfortable bed and jacuzzi with shower inside - good and quiet air condition - breakfast with fresh pressed orange juice and if desired a very tasty omlet - breakfast on lovely roof terrace with great view on town - very friendly hotel stuff, which gave us a lot of very helpful recommendations/tips - good spirit and smile of Anna Rodriguez :-)
Cons: - nothing except the insufficient sun screen at roof garden/breakfast buffet, which is mainly needed in July/August - as feared before: it isn't easy to find a free parking space in Rethymno during the peak season
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Konstantina in the reception was very helpful and provide us with clear instruction on how to find the property! The rooftop view of the breakfast are was unique! The room was clean.

Pros: I really can’t say enough about the hotel its gorgeous, rooms are very large and clean, staff go above and beyond from the lady that over looks breakfast to the girls running the front desk. Breakfast is tasty location is amazing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good buffet breakfast - location with very nice restos around if you feel like trying a place out of the hotel although the resto is beautiful but pricy for Creta.
Cons: We didn't know you cannot access the hotel by car as it's located in the old town. So we had to leave the car about 800 m away and had to repack since we had to much luggage to drag through the crowded streets. In addition it was quite difficult to find.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you're looking for a quiet, quaint hotel in a part of the city that is away from the cheesy touristy shops, this is your place. It is located amongst winding narrow streets filled with restaurants and beautiful shops. True Greece!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Localization is top. Is a very charming hotel. Loved it
8.3 Excellent
Pros: -Very good restaurant for dinner -Very helpful and polite staff -The location is great -decoration is perfect
Cons: -Stairs to the second floor no elevator -The window was facing in the hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely loved staying at the hotel! Amazing location, fancy old building, breakfast in the garden and lovely staff!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice 600-years old building with a great location in the center of the old city. Cozy rooms with a nice atmosphere are equipped with all the necessary things
Cons: The bed was a bit small. The view from the room to the courtyard with a restaurant.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is ridiculous, you are short walk from all the things worth doing in Rethymno. The atmosphere the room creates is also beautiful.
Cons: Room 101 was close to the dining area, so light sleepers could get woken up by diners. Shower is quite small by American standards, but what isn't in Europe? Parking is also not particularly close. It's a little difficult to check out earlier than 8AM.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location and friendly staff on check in, dinner was nice.
Cons: Need to improve the breakfast we gave up and ate breakfast in the town. Tiny bathroom for size of room and really needed updating.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Cozy antique construction converted to hotel. Excellent located in the middle of the old city although a bit far (2km) from sandy beaches. The local restaurant offers good dishes but a bit expensive compared to the plethora of other offers surrounding the hotel.
Cons: The sleeping room #108 has both windows facing the stairway patio which is covered and so, no fresh air can enter. The only way was to let the livingroom door open and to get some through the livingroom window. The old town has vehicle circulation restriction and so be prepared to carry your luggages from the parking place (outside old town) up to the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a beautiful building, in a beautiful part of a beautiful island. Great breakfast with lots of choice. Beach not far. History a plenty. Great staff A dream stay!

Cons: Not a lot
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location in the heart of Old Town Rethymno. Lovely setting & full of character, spacious & comfortable room, good size modern bathroom. Lovely welcoming staff.
7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel was very well located, staff were very friendly, attentive and generally happy to help. The room was relatively spacious and with a balcony. Bed was comfortable too.
Cons: The maisonette room is quite dated and needs to be upgraded. Especially the bathroom. I don’t think these rooms are suitable if you have children under 5 for safety reasons. The breakfast was disappointing, limited selection and the quality of the food was lower than I expected.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was nice, cozy and sufficient.
Cons: Orange juice was not real and too sweat. SPA (treatments) was a bit expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent in cute Old town area that didn't have cars. Paid parking not too far off which wasn't a big deal. Room 11 was large and had a nice patio. Several of my friends in other room had either a gorgeous ground floor deck or rooftop deck. I really loved Rethymno. Gorgeous little seaside city.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything at Palazzo Vecchio was great! My wife and I stayed there for 2 days while visiting the Greek Islands and we were very pleased with the nice and helpful staff, and clean and well kept rooms.
Cons: There was a wall being built around a planned parking lot for the hotel. This was not an issue for us though as we still managed to find parking near the hotel and we were upper in the morning for breakfast as the workers were beginning to work.
6.7 Good
Cons: Air condition unit in the top room we stayed in didn’t work in our room, was horrible. Woke up in the night very hot. Asked for help but guy just told us to use the on/off button. Which of course we tried numerous times!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Safe parking on site. Good room size with a special atmosphere. Reception very helpful with information and local knowledge.
Cons: Just keep doing what you are doing. It is very good.

Pros: Beautiful building in a perfect location to thoroughly enjoy the old part of town. Spotlessly clean and the staff are exceptionally friendly. Perfect to eat breakfast outside enjoying the ambience.
Cons: Having to leave ☹️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A perfectly located, beautiful boutique style hotel. We were greeted by the wonderful Angela, who explained all the facilities available in the hotel and offered information about the city as well. The rooms were spotless, all had an outdoor area, and the area around the small plunge pool was stunning. Our bed featured a Coco-Mat mattress which was very comfortable, linen changed every other day. The breakfast, which was included, was super! A continental style buffet breakfast with everything from Greek yogurt, fresh fruits, to scrambled eggs, bacon and toast! The hotel provides 24 hour reception, and all the staff were very friendly, very helpful and cheerful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel. It’s perfectly located about 5 minutes walk to the fortezza, the coast and the Rimondi square in different directions. We will return as we adore Rethymno!
