Great room at a great price. they need to extend their WI-FI to the rooms. now they have it only on the lobby.
good price, good location, couldn't have more expectations
Location Nasty carpet
Friendly helpful staff. Large, nice room with balcony. Good location if you like to be both near the town and also have access to beach/seafront. Very good value for money. Good to have a fridge in room. Room was cleaned only 3 times out of the 6 days - I believe the cleaners finished at 3.30pm, but when I arrived back to my room just past 3pm, the room still was not cleaned. It may have been one of the last rooms on the cleaners schedule, but is it that unusual that guesrs wish to spend some time in room in the afternoons (given the heat outside!)? Picture of hotel in publicity material a bit misleading - I thought it might be possible to have some kind of sea/harbour view, but the hotel is located off the sea front on a street overlooking the road and other buildings on opposite side. No tea and coffee making facilities - not even access to a kettle.
Location was excellent. Really close to the old town and the beach. The staff were helpful and communication before and during our stay was very good. Breakfast could have been more varied. There was limited staff during breakfast time which meant that often tables were not cleared out quickly enough and the food was not replenished in time. But when asked they responded straightaway. Also, there were only steps at the entrance of the hotel which meant that we had to lift our suitcases ourselves, but again, when asked for help the concierge was happy to help.
Very good service staff on reception, beautiful main hall and little garden All rooms and other premises need renovation, furniture is seem like relative new but not convenient. Air conditioner works strange, it is impossible to setup it do not blow directly to the bed. Room service is careless. Parking near the hotel after 3.00-4.00 p.m. is very difficult. There is no gym in the hotel. Definitely not four stars.
Achillion Palace was an ideal hotel for our holiday, close to the beach, right in the middle between the old and new areas. The old town was a 2 minute walk, loads of shops, tavernas etc. Hotel was perfectly comfartable, clean and the staff friendly. We had a great stay in Rethymnon.
The hotel is in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of the old town with its shops and tavernas. The breakfast on offer is of very poor quality and the total absence of any staff to clear away dishes means that the breakfast room becomes somewhat squalid.
Loved the swimming pool on the roof! Did not like having a smoking room. That is the only problem I had with the hotel.
Location - close enough to the city, the room was clean and spacious except the bath that can fit to babies or extra thin persons No pool in april, no view from my room. I would rate it as 3 stars. I stayed at the hotel only one night, so it was OK
it is a fantastic hotel.
The hotel layout gives a great sense of space. All eating areas well served and good value food. As a 4 star I would expect fresh fruit juice and coffee at breakfast not some instant mixture that did not taste good. I requested seaview for 3 rooms booked but not one was offered.
very good relationship between price and quality. Very nice staff and excellent breakfast.
The sets on the beach must be included in the cost of the hotel staying
Hospitality and hotel staff helpfull and competent. Rooms with sea view noisy, rooms with garden view no privacy concerning the rooms by side
Hotel was OK, well located with all amenities you can expect. Breakfast was average but OK. Staff was a bit constraingnant with the rules like closing the sunshade and stuff.
Perfect location, very clean, friendly staff, cheap
Superb resort hotel, staff friendly and efficient, food and wine excellent and varied, easy access to town and services. Nothing that we found.
Although not in the 5 star league to which I am accustomed, my stay at the APR was very pleasant with a great view of the sea and the mountains in the distance. The staff were very helpful and efficient.
close to the beach, very polite staff.
Tasteless and overpriced food. I was expecting a better room for the rate.
Personnel trying to speak Russian and very friendly In general hotel overpriced and old. Music is playing till 23.00
Service during breakfast : 10, Parking:9, Room cleaning: 10
Staff was all very friendly. Bit rundown, especially towards the end of the holiday season.
Close to the old town No special view
the room was very nice. the staf was exellent. but the morning breakfast was a little cheap in my opinion. could have been better with a little more choice
The location is good. The rooms are too dark, the pool is very small.
The hotel staff, nothing was too much trouble Not enough tables for breakfast
Close to the town without being in a noisy area. Lovely building, great rooms, and really nice small pool. The day staff/manager was nice, but the overnight/late receptionist was a little unfriendly at times. Otherwise, a lovely place to stay.
very clean and nice staff nothing at all
Very clean and convenient, comfortable and well presented. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast a little disappointing. eggs were cold, and orange drink artificial.
Everything at Palazzo Vecchio was great! My wife and I stayed there for 2 days while visiting the Greek Islands and we were very pleased with the nice and helpful staff, and clean and well kept rooms. There was a wall being built around a planned parking lot for the hotel. This was not an issue for us though as we still managed to find parking near the hotel and we were upper in the morning for breakfast as the workers were beginning to work.
Very nice location, very friendly staff.
Dirty place oposite the hotel the unbilded ground. Ugly view.
good for parking, attractive building and room, well maintained not as convenient to the old town as we would have liked, small pool, no internet
location and sea view
It is renovated in July 2009, very promising five star hotel near the center of Rethymnon. I suggest to rent a bike in order to enjoy the city. Stunning view from the balcony of all the suites. In total i suggest it without hesitation. The beach of Rethymnon is on the other side of the city. The beach near the hotel is poor, but i don't think that the hotel can do much about it.
the hotel is in the city don't need a car. Nice food! Neibours a bit noisy and no beach around...
The staff at the reception were great. All of them really helpful. Breakfast is very good with different kinds of styles (eggs and bacon, fruits, cereals, bread, etc.). Our room was very good and very clean and comfortable. The balcony was great also. When I had made the reservation by Booking, I had to pay for an extra bed because I have 2 children and the room only accepted 3 persons. But when I arrived there, I realised that we had a king size bed (for my wife and me) and another queen size (sofa) for the 2 children. So, I payed for something that was unnecessary.
Rooms (in our case two suites with kitchen) are spacious, modern, with wonderfull balcony, fitted with all the necessary; Swimming pool area was sufficient during our stay but might be small if the hotel would be full. Breakfast is simple, staff is friendly, service quick. Parking is free, but in the street uphill. Hotel is difficult to find: one unclear sign on the main road, no sign on the hotel, which looks from the outside like an office building. On arrival our reservation (one double suite) was not available so we received two suites. As such nice, but we had hoped to have one suite with the children. Both nights the fuses blew which the second night couldn't be repaired so we had to move the children to the living in the other suite.
Excellent rooms, with ocean view and great balconys. Clean and comfortable, nice king size bed, places for the clothes, dresses. The restaurant was nice, although only for breakfast. Nice staff. The pool was nice and quiet. Close to the city, thats good. The spa and fitness center was not finished yet, unfortunetaly. They told us it will open next year... The kitchen at the room was great but it was not possible to make a dinner there, we didnt need it as we went to town eating at the restaurants, but if I had kids I would prefer ti make som dinner at the kitchen after the kids were going to sleep... that would be impossible.
seemed to have staff shortage, bar man disappeared a lot from the pool bar (only bar), left it unmanned, waited 20 mins for bar man in the morning to buy coffee, same in the afternoon to buy a drink, another 20 mins wait.
Macaris is a lovely stylish hotel! Suites are very big and so nice decorated! Personel very polite and helpful !The view from verandas and from the roof garden just breathtaking!!
The apartment was very comfortable, great views of the pool and the sea, would recommend this hotel to family & friends.
The wiati staff and front desk were very helpful and friendly. No irons to checkout. Air conditioning not available although it was warm out.
Everything in the hotel was perfect! We came across the most polite staff, the most amazing chef and overall it was a great experience!!! Great beach and nice view of the sea from the room!!(choose room with sea view) Slight renovation in the bathroom to match a 5* hotel
Very clean hotel: the cleaning ladies were there until very late and did their work very very good, relaxing enviroment: beautiful surroundings around the hotel and the "sister" hotel Creta Star": gardens and trees are fantastic and very clean and the view of some places in the hotel very nice, pleasant stuff (reception-restaurant-cleaning ladies-room service), extra tip the small pool, that make you feel like your home because the customers dont prefer so much! The rooms are a little old, but everything looks in perfect contition-colour-functioability, so it not a problem at all. Nothing to bother, maybe a small renvation at the pool area (more beautiful chairs-pool bar) that it would match with the perfect gardens around them! But not something 100% necessary.
Very modern and stylish hotel with excellent service and great central location.
Clean, quiet, nice set-up, handy. Limited wireless....
wonderful courtyard with a small pool, orange- and lemontrees, very friendly staff, central location, good wifi connection, nicely decorated rooms
The location of the hotel right in the center of the old part of rethymnion. The rooms have been upgraded with plenty of storage available. The grounds are very nice although a little squashed.
Location was fantastic in the heart of the old town but near to the beach and the harbour. Our room wes very clean, tidy and the staff were great. The splash pool was fanatstic for an early morning dip.I would highly recommend this hotel we will be back there very soon!
Staff at the hotel were excellent, particularly Eleni. It is located centrally in the old town of Rethymnon and is close to many of the sites. Room was small for 3 people. I was the 3rd person and slept on a sofa bed downstairs (split level room). Although the room had a kitchenette, washing up liquid, sponge and kitchen towels were not in room and had to be asked for to wash up.
excellent location! Beautiful room! Very helpfful staff -
We have enjoyed the location of the hotel and the peaceful atmosphere .It has all the opportunities to became a very attractive hotel for everybody, couples and families. The hotel need big improvement to become a 5* hotel .It has all the basic possibilities but needs more facilities for the guests like mini market, children room, animation program and also better maintenance control.
Very nice, clean and large rooms, personnel is very polite, buffet was also quite good. This is really minor. I would like the buffet to be closer to the Cretan cuisine.
Nice resort, the rooms are large, beautifully decorated with big balcony. Nice view from the rooms to a valley and some sea. In couple of months when it will officialy opened and all the facilities will work it will be nice resort for family leisure holiday. Due to the fact that the hotel is just opened (2 days before we arrived) most of the leisure facilities weren't active/finished/under construction , Which wasn't mentioned while Booking. The Spa with the indoor pool and Sauna/ Jacuzzi wern't working, the Tennis court is not built yet, no Tea/Coffee Maker and DVD player in our room as mentioned in booking. The hotel has great potential, I supose that in 3-4 month while everything will be working it will be nice to arrive there for family vacation.
It was a nice and peaceful place with comfortable, clean rooms, with convenient beds. Also, breakfast and dinner included a large number of options and they could be considered absolutely satisfactory, especially since they are included in room's price. There is a need of further development of hotel's exterior sites, something we believe that will be done, since we visited it at its first month of operation. Finally, only wired internet connection was available in the rooms and unfortunately it wasn't free, on the contrary was very expensive.
For 88 euros the room was an absolute steal. Dinner and breakfast provided for 4 people! I shouldn't be complaining for the price I paid but there was no hot water in a 5star resort. The hotel is not fully made yet and several advertised facilities were missing. But I guess that is why I paid such a low price
Great family suite! My 5 friends and I could all stay together! Kostas(not sure on the spelling), the bartender was so nice and helpful!! Great pool!
H εξηπηρέτηση των υπαλληλων ηταν ιδιετερη και μασ ακανε να νιωσουμε ανετα. πιστευω πως ισως στην εξηπηρετηση του bar στην πισινα να βελτιωθει λιγακι.
The outdoor pool was large and filled with fresh water. The lobby area was extremely large and open. The breakfast was very good.
I though the hotel is overpriced for the standard of rooms. Shower was not very good. Slope in swimming pool is dangerous. People slipped so many times. Parking was also difficult. Service of staff was generally not very helpful. Could have been better. Apart from the Restaurant Manager.
The room was very spacious and clean. The pool closed at 6pm!
everything was ok, we had a nice stay, the hotel staff was very kind and helpfull. this is my first choice for rethymno.bravo.
Wonderfoul place to live in! the sattelite tv.inside the rooms.could be better with more channels
Convenient location for a Rethymnon city break. A second key (with an odd magnetic fob to keep the electticity going) was needed by our group of 5 people, but none was available. This meant we either all stayed in at the same time, or woke up the others to get access to the room at night.
Nice and clean, good location, good breakfast, friendly staff Room smelled of the disinfectant they use
Friendliness of staff Small tv set in room. Good breakfast
Old venitian mansion with high ceilings, completely redone with excellent taste. Location, personnel and service. Friendliness. Rooms on first and second floors without elevator. Probably difficult for handicapped guest
Excellent staff The hotel needs to be maintained to its high standards. The carpeting in the halls needs replacement. There was an odor of mildew in our room.
Room decor, central location, excellent staff
Everything, it was a lovely, quaint little place, very clean, and unique..only since it was winter season, the restaurant was not open...but it was a safe area and we could walk around easily at night. The only thing that happened that was wrong was the lady at the desk recommended a taxi cab who in the end ripped us off on the price by 25. euros...which is a lot when we are converting our money back into canadian...$200 for a taxi from there to the airport was unreal, i feel they should know about this.
Helpful staff, very good location for beach sights and night life
The staff was very friendly and helpful, the place is simply great! we stayed in the junior suite apollon and had a great staying there. there's no hook for the shower :-)
Friendly and professional staff. Great position and structure. The rooms are very properly furnished. Everthing was perfect. Thank you to everybody for the wonderfull holiday !!!! Arrivederci
Friendliness of staff: very attentive and professional. The room was spacious and well decorated. Excellent!
the location of the hotel was very good Hotel staff was not very helpful. There was no hot water for two mornings. The hot water was only turned on when we complained. You can only get hot water after 10am. The toilet would not flash for two days. We had to complain several times before it was fixed. There was alot of noise at night, If you are looking for a quiet night, please don't stay at this hotel. Also, my hotel bill was charged twice on my credit card.
It was better than expected. Old stone historical house. Great sense of history and comfort Loved all. Perfect for us
great atmosphere in an old house in good location the boiler noise was quite disturbing.also the guy downstairs trying us to eat in their restaurant was a bit annoying.
Room(s) were great. large, spacious, clean, great decor, nicely equipped kitchen, courtyard terrace was warm & inviting. Location in old town was what we wanted. Staff was not very informative & language sometimes a problem.Too many steps for elderly or disabled.
Room was large and beautifully decorated.
The hotel was in a beautiful building. We really enjoyed our stay.
The location was very central in the old town, the staff were very welcome, and the building itself had been very tastefully restored. Good restaurant / wine celler. Hard to find fault. If there was any downside, and it was inevitable given it's prime location in the labyrinth that is the old town, is that taxi's cannot leave you at the hotel and you have to bring your luggage about 200m.
the comfort of the bed and spaciousness of the room
The location is ridiculous, you are short walk from all the things worth doing in Rethymno. The atmosphere the room creates is also beautiful. Room 101 was close to the dining area, so light sleepers could get woken up by diners. Shower is quite small by American standards, but what isn't in Europe? Parking is also not particularly close. It's a little difficult to check out earlier than 8AM.
The property is very quaint and a nice place to eat. The stonework inside and the patio in the back make for a relaxing meal. Fred the restaurant manager was extremely friendly and helpful with tips on the surrounding area. This property is more of a restaurant than a hotel. The food at Veneto House was very good and the location of the hotel is in the historic area of Rethymo, but the hotel staff was absent most of the time and the rooms were slightly outdated.
its very good hotel with a big pool, nice people working there, a lot of choice of food for breakfast, everything was clean and plus to everything free internet in the room. Very quiet and relaxing place!
The desing of the room was very modern and the breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent. The swimming pool and the sunbeds inside the pool were realy rellaxing I would expect that the reception staff and waitresses to be at the same level of quality as the hotel standards...
A very new and good hotel as a base for seeing Central and Eastern Crete. Food was very very good and very reasonably priced. The experience would have been even better if the hotel had been aware of our booking. Booking.com is definitely not recommended. The floor space in the executive suite was limited. The suite was located next to the Children's play area and could have been very noisy had there been many guests in the hotel - last week of season therefore very quiet.
Cleanliness is really good, location and swimingpool are great. There was activities, communications and also a lot of TV channels only in Russian and Germany. Very few in English. They should keep it more international if they want to keep as 5 stars hotel.
