Pros. Check-in was easy. We arrived several hours before check-in, and they held our bags while we went exploring. Upon check-in, everything was great. The room was pleasant, the bed quite comfortable, the blinds thick so we didn't have to worry about the sun waking us up (as if we'd ever not be up before the sun in Iceland), and the room was kept at a perfect temperature - with a window to open up if we wanted more fresh air. It is centrally located, and even more reasonably priced when you compare it with the cost of other hotels in the area. This is not a luxury place, but for people traveling cheap and easy, who just need a place to rest their head after full days of walking and drinking, it's the perfect spot. Any time we had a question, we just came by reception (it's not constantly staffed, but there's a bell to ring, which is answered swiftly), and were easily and happily assisted. Check-out was simply a matter of leaving the key at reception. Easy, and no frills. Love the place, and will absolutely stay there if we go back.
Cons. They are listed as having complimentary breakfast on the booking sites, but they do charge for it (though they tell you that when you ask); for the cost, just pay a little extra and go to one of the well-loved breakfast spots in town. Worth it - who wants to spend their trip eating at the hotel breakfast, anyway? The one day we changed our door hanger to "Yes, please have housekeeping visit my room," we came back to find our bed had been straightened and trash had been thrown out, but we had no more toilet paper (we'd been running low) and no new towels. It was easily rectified the next morning by asking for those to be brought to our rooms, but if you definitely need specifics, it's better to let reception know, than to assume they'll handle it. Also, due to all of the scaffolding in front of the hotel, if there is any signage, it isn't visible; because of this, make sure your maps are accurate and specific! Actually, because much of Reykjavik has scaffolding and construction, always trust your maps, rather than looking for signage, because same may be blocked!
