Pros: Good traditional breakfast and plenty of it.
Cons: No tea and coffee making in the room, although it was available on the stairway.
Pros: Service service service
Cons: Free Wi-Fi signal was weak
Pros: Clean big rooms and nice breakfast.
Pros: Easy to find in an upscale town. Good restaurant right across the street. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Church bells rang throughout the night. WiFi did not work when we checked in but did work for awhile early in the morning.
Pros: Second time I’ve stayed in this hotel and again it was excellent. Super clean, friendly owners and a great breakfast. Superb value for money.
Pros: I've never seen an hotel room so clean and tidy ! The staff even folded my clothes neatly on the bed after the first night. Free fresh sparkling water bottles had been prepared for us on a desk.
Pros: The room was spacious and warm. We couldn't make it to the accommodation before the 19:00 check-in deadline, but when we rang to explain, the owner was most accommodating
Cons: Would have liked some breakfast/black tea.
Pros: We were 2 adults and 2 children. The room was huge, modern and clean. Bathroom was fab and the owners were very nice too.
Pros: My dad was traveling through Germany and asked me to book this place. Property closed at 7 pm, but due to a traffic jam, he came little bit later. Owner was so kind and came later to accommodate my father. Room are clean an dad was so happy about his stay
Pros: Basic but comfortable room. Very clean spacious. Coffee and tea available free. Drinks at a small cost based on the honour simple. Good comfortable place to spend the night while bike touring. Good breakfast.

Pros: So pretty!
Cons: A little far from CHIO
Pros: The affordable luxury.
Pros: Modern bedrooms, lovely wine bar, wifi, closeness to shops.
Cons: Better selection for breakfast rather than the typical German breakfast. Would like to of seen tea and coffee facilities in the room. TV channels were only German speaking ones.
Pros: Nice location, modern furniture, staff was kind and welcoming, free parking at the hotel
Cons: Everything was great!
Pros: We stayed in the new apartment and it was light, bright and airy. Fab shower and huge kitchen. The icing on the cake was the balcony- soak up the sun in the day or light a candle and stargaze at night !
Pros: Everything was perfecnt! amazing kind staff, good quality rooms, local atmosphere, good breakfast !
Pros: The size of the apartment for the value was fantastic and a pleasant suprise .
Cons: The WiFi wasn’t nearly what I need to complete my work without taking on another cost by upgrading my Cellular to act as a hotspot.
Pros: The location was excellent, close to a pub and a very nice restaurant, unless you want to dine in the hotel.
Cons: The checkin process was a bit tardy, handled by a very stressed out receptionist. Checking out on the other hand was very slick and handled very well. Our double room was located at the noisy side of the main street and it was terribly hot - unfortunately no a/c.
Pros: Stylish, spacious and light. We stayed in the new apartment which has a balcony and a cool kitchen and a serious shower. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Check out the wine bar with a glass portal down to the cellar and the patio area where you can soak up the sun while you enjoy some great food and wine.
Welcome to this traditional country guest house on the edge of the Eifel National Park, conveying a cosy atmosphere and producing its own farming produce. In these picturesque surroundings with fresh country air and delicious home-made cuisine, you will not want to leave. This is the perfect destination for rest and relaxation. The building was originally a countryside manor, built in the early 19th century, and was converted into a public house due to its convenient location.
Pros: The hotel room was clean and comfy, and I'm guessing the bathroom has recently been renovated as it is modern, clean, roomy and had everything you would want/require. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and they even prepared a breakfast for us, including hot coffee, so we could eat at 5-am, the breakfast was served/waiting for us in the restaurant with a note wishing us a safe journey. We had to leave early to catch a train. We ate in the restaurant the night we arrived and I would recommend to anyone to do so too! Good menu and great wines! In all a great find, I will be staying there again when I'm next in the area.
Pros: Everything was great! Great room with a balcony. Great service! Great food! Beautiful hostess!
Pros: Everything except the stairs
Cons: Because I have problems with walking I have difficulties with stairs. I was disconcerted to find our room was up 2 flights. LP
Pros: Good welcome and a nice warm room. We liked the fact that they opened a garage for us to store our motorbike overnight.
Pros: Clean and well maintained. Good restaurant. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: The booking in time from 3pm to 6pm is a rather restrictive
When you stay at Garni Hotel Café Henn in Simmerath, you'll be 15 minutes by car from Rur Dam. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Clean modern building, but perhaps out of keeping with its environment. Very comfortable bed.
Cons: Room had no view to speak of and overlooked a noisy road. Had to use a car park at an hotel along the street. The hotel made a point of the fact that it offered Sky TV in rooms. However, given the size of the screen and the distance it was away from the bed, some binoculars would have been appreciated. Only German instructions as to how it worked were available. Okay it's Germany, but does the hotel not wish to encourage international visitors? (The retaurant staff spoke excellent English). Nothing like the restful location we were expecting.
Pros: My boyfriend booked this hotel/room with a view of the river over a month ago for my surprise birthday which was on July 12th. We had an emergency and didn’t think we could go so he had to cancel but we re-booked the same exact room same day because we could go. An hour later I received an email saying on day 2 we would be moved to a another room. I responded saying it’s my birthday and would prefer not to be moved if possible. When we arrived, the staff member who didn’t speak any English (luckily my boyfriend is German) and insisted that there was a issue with their system and we have to move rooms on day 2. The original room was beautiful! It was clean, bright and the washroom had a window overlooking the lake and mountain. There was a beautiful big balcony and you can see the amazing view from your bed. - the wait staff was polite and the owner was as well. We did not experience rudeness. - the breakfast was good and so was the service during breakfast. The wait staff were attentive.
Cons: It was really sad & upsetting that we were downgraded on our second day to a room that we didn’t book or was even comparable to the room we originally booked. The second room was dark and the tiniest balcony overlooked the street and cars parked and till midnight or so the light of the hotel sign is on so don’t bother going to sleep early. The owner should have told us we were going to be down graded and my boyfriend had to ask for a discount so we got €40 discount but to be honest I would have preferred to have paid the money and have a better experience on my birthday. Our penthouse apartment has better view and bedroom that this! -The wifi didn’t work on our laptop and no one knew how to help with that. - there wasn’t any actual reception. It’s behind the breakfast buffet and you don’t know if the wait staff suppose to help you or there isn’t any actual concierge. - I stayed at a lot of hotels and I can tell you this was not a good experience. I came all the way from Canada and this was my birthday weekend and the hotel really didn’t try to make it better during our stay. - we found a long blonde hair on the bed which was stuck on me (I’ve short dark hair) so not sure if they even gave us clean sheets... -if you don’t speak german, it might be a bit difficult. No one spoke to English to me and only looked at my german boyfriend. - I probably wouldn’t stay here again.
Pros: Nice location with very good Breakfast
Cons: No bar in the evening to enjoy a drink together with other people
Pros: Great location! A lot less touristic compared to Einruhr. Very good cafe with cake
Cons: The matress was worn. A deep dent kept me a bit awake during the night
Pros: Breakfast delicious. Very Clean.
Cons: Better instructions on arrival to go to cafe to collect keys and that cafe closes st 6pm.
Pros: The room was amazing, lovely view from the balcony and skylines, very clean and breakfast was great.
Pros: As for breakfast, the taste and quality of food was excellent. There were different kinds of cheeses, salamis, pastry (sweet or non sweet), home made jams (fantastic) and so on. For me and my family it was absolutely satisfactory. We also had lunch over there and the meals were great and delicious. Very well cooked, prepared and for reasonable prices. There was a self-service bar with some soft drinks and beers on the floor which was also very convenient. The hotel is dog-friendly which was the most important criterion for us. As the small village is located on the edge of the magnificent nature (National Park Eifel) it gives you the opportunity to immediately forget all daily routines, obligations or duties and recover your lost energy from the heart of the green and clean nature.
Cons: Nothing :)
Pros: Great situation, great view, great food.
Pros: Location. Breakfast.
Cons: No minibar. No kettle for making coffee or tea. Road view instead of lake view. No balcony.
Pros: Nice position of hotel for the people who likes hiking, cyclisme and nature.
Cons: Not possible to chose bedroom with view on the lake when you book room, for us it was negative surprise coz view was on the street. Breakfast prety poor, need to ask for eggs etc. Check-in made in their pastry shop by saleswomen who doesn’t know a lot about night doors etc. Dust on the floor and noise from bathroom near our bedroom.
Set in a historic half-timber building in the village of Einruhr, this hotel is located on the banks of the Obersee Lake. It offers classic-style rooms with satellite TV. All of the rooms at Hotel im Fachwerkhof are individually decorated, and include a private bathroom. Some rooms also feature views of the lake. A rich breakfast is served daily in Hotel im Fachwerkhof’s traditional-style dining room. A bar, restaurant and terrace are available for guests. The Obersee Lake is a popular location for fishing, mountain biking or exploring the nearby Eifelsteig hiking trail. Water sports are available at the Ruhrsee lake. Monschau is 20 km from Hotel im Fachwerkhof. Hotel im Fachwerkhof is 30 km from both the A1 and the A44 motorways.
Pros: We stayed in the hotel only one night. The room was very nice and clean. The restaurant near the hotel is delicious.
Pros: Great location with ultimate motorcle roads , owners very welcoming and helpful
Cons: Nothing it was all positive
Pros: Nice place well located close by restaurants
Cons: A little too noisy walls were rather thin
Pros: Breakfast was good. Nice location.
Pros: Location was good. Room size was good. Staff was nice. Room was clean. They let us check-in early :D Breakfast was standard, nothing exceptional. Overall comfortable stay.
Cons: pillows weren't good. The bed could be better. For the price we paid I think the bed/breakfast could have been better.
Pros: overall experience was excellent owners very helpful
Cons: no dislikes
Pros: Very friendly staff! The breakfast was excellent. We were with friends to cycle around in the Eifel region. The hotel provided for a safe place to store our bikes in. I would really recommend this place if you want to explore the region by bike (either road bike or mountain bike).
Pros: Kind staff
Cons: wifi too bad
With a stay at Haus Gertrud in Simmerath, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of High Fens – Eifel Nature Park and Monschau Castle. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: When 7 people turn up who don't speak German it can cause problems but with a little help from google translate we managed to communicate very well with the owners and we really had a great time at this hotel .Superb food and plenty of it . We loved it here .
Cons: I cannot fault this hotel
Pros: The bed was confy.
Cons: The towels were very thin.
Pros: Good breakfast including muesli and yoghurt. Hotel rather simple, but comfortable. I enjoyed the beautiful natural environment, especially 2 valleys: Tiefenbachtal (75 minutes to get there by walking) and Belgenbachtal (only 30 minutes to get there). Many footpaths to walk. Landscape very attractive. Larger place Simmerath not far, suitable for shopping and restaurants. Monschau is a little further, but a very pittoresque little town, though touristic.
Cons: I was missing the familiar atmosphere as I experienced in some simple guest houses in the same area like Einruhr (Eifel National Park).
Pros: The hosts were very friendly and tried their best to understand us as we only spoke English with a smattering of German words. The food was delicious and plenty of it.
Cons: It was all good.
When you stay at Am Obersee Hotel in Simmerath, you'll be 11 minutes by foot from Eifel National Park. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: No secured storage for baggage drop in case of early checkin or checkout
Pros: Everything was all right.
Cons: No negative aspects.
Pros: Hotel well placed to walk the valley and river walks
Pros: Accomodation very good: clean and comfortable; good location, friendly staff.
Cons: As for the quality and quantity of food (dinner), there is some room for improvement (one of the 3 Wiener Schnitzels my family ordered was burnt). However, breakfast is good and big.
Pros: Basic continental breakfast but what we had was really nice. Beds were really comfortable and the room had everything we needed. The location is perfect, so quiet.
Cons: We arrived at 8pm but the restaurant was closed. Come 7am there was noise from downstairs which I guessed was them preparing for the day. No card machine
Pros: The location, the lovely family friendly welcoming atmosphere. Nice, spacious and clean family room.
Cons: There wasn't anything to dislike.
Pros: A warm welcome and friendly staff good value for money. Motorcycles secure around the back of Hotel
Cons: Nice for one night but not much to do.
Pros: Rooms were light and spacious and staff super friendly.
Cons: Nothing I didn’t like!
Pros: Comfortable. Nice walks up the river. Excellent 'fixed menu' half board meal.

Pros: It's a great and unexpected place. Great spa facilities very good breakfast
Pros: This is an excellent base for hiking in the Eiffel region
Pros: This is a well run Thermal Hotel that caters for guests who are interested in a healthy break. I have stayed here before and rated the hotel some six months ago. My impression from my recent stay is that the food has improved to a very high standard and I felt that my whole experience was even better than the last which is perhaps a consequence of better familiarity with the hotel and its thermal facilities. Additionally this hotel is ideal for the cyclist or walker as there is a magnificent amount of well marked and safe walks in the immediate vicinity for all standards of hiker. The hotel is well serviced by an excellent public bus service.
Cons: Not applicable
Pros: The thermal bath and saunas are wonderful, especially after a day of hiking, but cost extra.Large room and bath. Breakfast good.
Cons: Wlan only in Reception/Bar area. No tea/coffee/water in room
Pros: Fair breakfast. Good discount for the spa (really recommend but be aware of nudist spa if you are not used to). Quite area. National Park 30 min with the car. Clean room and bathroom.
Cons: Rooms not really special. Bathroom separeted from room.
Pros: Everybody was super nice and if you like naturist or you are just simply not bothered by it like us, the spa is pretty nice. Dinner was on average price but in return it was really delicious.
Cons: Room price is way too expensive for what is provided. We paid 120 Eur for 1 night, we got a room what was very outdated, the kitchen was not useable and it did not even had a ventillator. So basically the room is a 2* hotel room. Breakfast was included, but it was very simple, had pretty basic elements and low variety. Around half of the variety as Ibis has, where breakfast is 7 EUR/person. So it was fun but we do not know at all, for what we paid 120 EUR. The SPA is not included at all, none of the pools or saunas, it costs 15 EUR/person extra - that is a fair price. So at the end we left around 200 EUR there for 1 night, swimming one and having dinner. The level of value for money is not fair in the reality unfortunately.
Pros: Incredibly comprehensive spa area; two good-sized pools, outdoor one very warm and lots of saunas (one of which was far too bloody hot!) possibly seven in total, I lost count! Room, bathroom in particular, was a little worn but had everything needed and was of a good size.
Cons: No hot food available at the time of my stay, due to a small kitchen fire but there is a very good restaurant a 10 minute walk away.
Pros: Excellent facilities, very good value
Pros: Breakfast was good and plentiful. Comfortable bed. Good on site restaurant - food was great.
Cons: The room was a little noisy over looking an outside seating area, and even though a little away from a main town there was quite a bit of road noise. No tea or coffee making facilities in room.
Located in Simmerath, Hotel Seemöwe is within a 15-minute drive of Eifel National Park and Ordensburg Vogelsang. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a business center, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great location and a really comfortable hotel with a great sized room. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a great size. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.
Pros: Lovely setting
Cons: We arrived late but the owner made us dinner even though they had already finished and closed the kitchen.
Pros: Dinner food was delicious.
Cons: Rooms were full of dusty artificial flowers. Room was cold, we asked for electronic radiator, totally dusty radiator was brought. No hair dryer inside the room. Corridors smelled awful. For dinner we were seated at the room full of dusty dolls and dusty curtains. Hotel personnel was rude and impolite. At reception we always had to wait for a long time to have someone behind counter. Breakfast buffet tables were not cleaned and dirty when we arrived 9.15 and they had no where to seat us, breakfast is until 10.00. Very unpleasant stay.
Cons: English people always appreciate tea and coffee facilities in their room. A fridge is also a welcome addition so that we can carry cool drinks with us when enjoying the surrounding countryside.

When you stay at HAUS AM SEE in Simmerath, you'll be 12 minutes by foot from Eifel National Park. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: Excellent location, nice pool, large rooms
Cons: No free wifi, especially important as there was poor mobile phone reception in the area
Pros: Great location, decent breakfast and not too expensive
Cons: The bed was horribly squeaky and not very comfortable. There was a constant humming sound, like a pump or something, until late in the evening. Without decent earplugs I wouldn't have slept at all. No view at all from the room (just a big tree/bush). Wifi is only available in the small lobby and a small part of the restaurant.
Pros: The surroundings (ao. Eifel park) are very nice. Monschau is worth visiting.
