Situated on the bay, Tidal Watch Inn is a great choice for a stay in St. Martins. Free perks include WiFi, self parking, and full breakfast daily between 8 AM and 10 AM. Other highlights include a terrace and a garden.
Built in 1812 by shipbuilder Caleb Ward, this charming cottage is the oldest standing home in St. Martins. Its centerpiece is the original brick hearth around which many generations have enjoyed a meal, a pint, or a fire on a chilly night. A well-equipped kitchen, an old oak dining table and a large sectional couch are arranged around it in a spacious room where the whole family can relax. The master bedroom on the main floor features a queen-size bed, a sunny bay window, an en-suite bathroom and a laundry room. Upstairs there are two more bedrooms with comfortable double beds, a second bathroom with a deep claw-foot tub and a bidet - for those so inclined. There is another large living room upstairs with high ceilings and exposed timber beams. There are board games, puzzles and satellite TV for your entertainment, as well as a shelf full of our favorite books for you to curl up with in a hammock. There are also two single beds in this room. Throughout the house there are hiding spots and secret passageways that make for a fantastic game of hide-and-go-seek. Outside there are many places to relax and take in the view of the Bay, including a screened-in gazebo, hammocks slung between trees, and a sprawling lawn for playing games or pitching tents. The yard blooms all summer long with perennial flowers and fruit trees, and on calm nights the world's highest tides can be heard washing into shore, carving the red rock coastline to smooth perfection. The cottage is located 2.7km from St. Martins' Main Street. Within walking distance of the cottage is The Quaco Head Lighthouse (1.3kms), and Brown's beach (1.9kms) - which is as quiet as it is scenic and a rock lover's dream. There is also a coastal trail that connects the two. The owners occasionally use a separate unit of the house while we tend the property and gardens. We are happy to help if you have any questions, especially about planning your adventures on the Bay or the nearby Fundy Trail Parkway. Otherwise, your privacy is our priority and we will leave you be to enjoy your vacation in this cottage that was passed from loving owner to loving owner and found its way to us.
Come and relax in a home originally built by a shipbuilder in the community of St. Martins/West Quaco in 1850. The original structure remains and many additions and upgrades have been made. From the front deck, enjoy a 180 degree panoramic view of the Bay and Anvil Rock, marvel at the strength of the Bay of Fundy as it fills in the Bay before you and the marsh behind you at high tide. The home is like a floating oasis at high tide. Cross the road to the beach where you can paddle board at high tide or if you wish to stick closer to home, you can paddle board in the marsh behind the house. The same beach and marsh will open up at low tide and allow you to discover the mysteries left behind by the receding waters. Each day is different and the unique experience will draw you back to the Bay of Fundy year after year. The front deck and back of the home also allow for wonderful bird watching. You may even be lucky enough to spot a bald eagle. The Fundy Trail or kayaking with the local company in the town of St. Martins will also allow for wildlife sightings. Be sure to experience the Sea Caves as well at low tide. The two restaurants located beside the Sea Caves will serve you up some great fish and chips and sea food chowder. The lighthouse located next to the home allows you to watch the forces of the tides as they duel with each other during the changing of the tides. Brown's Beach is also a must see. If you love to hike, do not miss Giffin Pond Rd. Located at the end of Quaco Rd, this trek will take you to a fresh water pond laying beside the ocean. Rock formations in this area and Brown's Beach are a must see. Finally, bring a book and relax or dedicate some time to writing. The rhythm of the tides and the beauty of the local people will force you to gear down. The gem of this community is that it has remained true to its roots and its vision. Come and experience it. You will leave an enriched person.
