Such a great place, newly remodeled, very very nice. WHY DID YOU FORGET TO REPLACE THE BEDDING!!! It's super hard and springy. I had a one bedroom apartment and had an uncomfortable and ugly two person couch to sit in. The furniture is terrible. The condition of the unit itself was spectacular. I so badly want to rank it five stars but when you forget the fundamental hotel law of a good nights sleep. It's kind of a fail. Loved the location and everything else though.
At first glance, we weren't sure we wanted to stay here...from the road it looks like something out of a bad horror movie....including the vacant office instructing us to go down the road '100 yards' and check in at their sister property. (NOTE: it's more like 300 yards and across a busy road). But the staff was very friendly and accommodating and even offered to let us transfer to the sister property if we weren't satisfied with our original location. But after comparing the two rooms, we chose to stick with our original reservation because the room was spacious, clean, and relatively quiet considering the proximity to the road. We also liked the view and atmosphere of the dock on the bay. (NOTE: while this property boasts it is 'waterfront'...this does NOT mean 'beachfront'...it is on a small inland bay. The sister property is on the beach side of the road, however, only the end units have beach views...the bulk of the units overlook a parking lot.) The room was spotless, the efficiency kitchen nicely appointed, the bed was comfy, and the A/C worked. Considering we were in the area to visit family and not to lounge on the beach, it was a good value for the money.
This hotel was superb value for a great location. The rooms opened on to a private deck on a finger of the bay. It was a quiet lovely oasis with mantees swimming just a few feet from the deck. We also had beach access across the street at a sister hotel. The room itself was dated, but quintessential Florida, reminding me of family vacations back in the 60's & 70's. Everything worked though, including the internet and flat screened TV's. I definately felt that we got our money's worth. My only complaint is the strange set-up with the two sister hotels. The check-in and office was located at a hotel across the street, and the phones in the room did not have the office phone number on them. If you dialed '0' it rang in the closed office of our location. Once we figured how to contact the office though, they were helpful, efficient, & friendly.
I arrived a single gal on vacation and was told that I was moved to the Plaza Beach Hotel, which is about 400 yards down the street with direct beach access. I was given a ride from the man behind the desk and was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality of the staff. My room was clean, cool and had a small kitchenette. The best part was that I did not have to pay any additional resort fees or charges for this room upgrade. The location is great and the nearby restaurants are inexpensive. There is a grocery store and a large number of restaurants within walking distance. I spent a majority of my time across the street with the locals at the Drunken Clam (a small bar with live music every night) or directly on the beach. The hotel was wonderful and you have access to all three resorts when you stay at one, all within short walking distance of one another. Definitely will be coming back!
Booked three weeks in advance and pre-paid. Arrived as a weary traveler from the Panhandle area, We were not in the lobby 2 minutes when the man at the hotel said they were overbooked and we were down the street . Not a welcome Sorry about this hope you are not disappointed NOTHING !!!!!!!!! not even a smile. We got back in the car and he was correct al least it was close upon arriving the next guy at Hotel did not say anything except something like Lucky for you you are getting our last room. My husband and I of course took their very last room and you know what I realize why noone else was in it the room was on the street facing the road their was about just enough room to get into bed no place to open up your suitcase or no place in bathroom to dry a towel mine was always wet or not a spot to put any girly stuff out. Great room if you are a single man only.
Rooms and the staff of the motel resort are O.K. Grocery stores and pharmacies are close by. Beach and the sea was excellent. However, rooms next to our were under construction so it was not pleasant to be there from 8am until leaving on the beach. We stayed for 5 nights in May of 2010. Will not stay in this motel again.
What a funky place! Hidden on the bay away from the loud tourists we were able to truly relax with the heated pool, grills, and oversized apartment-style room. For the price my husband and I were pleasantly suprised with the space, location, and cleanliness of Bay Palms. Friendly service and very accommodating. We were able to use the computers at Plaza Beach along with their beach access. Gotta love being right next to an adorable Italian bakery with a coffee bar. Believe it was called La Casa del..? Great place. Can't wait to get back!
I was very impressed with the hotel. I talked to the front desk person who told me that the new owners just renovated the entire property. It shows, and they really did a great job. The property is right on the water, and just across the street from the beach. For me and my family this will be our new home away from home on the weekends. We only live in Tampa and we can come by car or we can even come by boat since they have boat docking. Also two huge fishing piers and the pool was heated and very warm. I honestly cant say anything bad about this property and I cant wait for another weekend vacation.
We just returned from a week stay the Bay Palms Waterfront Resort on St Pete Beach, Florida. I could not believe the room we got for the money we paid. Yes, I know that December it is off season, but Suite for $* dollars on the water, is ridiculously cheap. Especially when you walk in and have a huge kitchen covered in granite, beautiful porcelain tiles throughout the entire apartment, big plasma TV in the living room, another plasma in the bedroom, nice size bathroom with all the amenities. I have a nice apartment in Queens, NY but I would move into this apartment in a New York minute. The staff was great, especially Robert; with excellent restaurant recommendations. The location was perfect, everything from restaurants, grocery store, Walgreens, CVS, bakery etc... all in walking distance. I would highly recommend this to families with kids or even couples. Its just a real nice place at a affordable price.
As a frequent business traveler I found the hotel very accommodating for me as well as it would be if I were to bring my family down. I was surprised to see a full kitchen in my room and penalty of space to get my work done. The free Wifi had a great signal, the heated pool was overlooking the water, free parking, free small fitness room, everything I needed at a very reasonable rate and walking distance to all the restaurants. Most importantly my room was clean and the staff at both offices were very helpful and outgoing. I will be returning later in the year for another business trip to St Pete Beach and I will definitely choose the Bay Palms Waterfront Resort. You get the best value with many amenities.
We stayed in November 2008, however I am just getting around to posting my feedback now. We spent 8 nights at the Bay Palms Resort on St Pete Beach. Our room was clean and it looked like they were in the process of improving the property. The pool was just reopened 2 days before we got there after a complete renovation, and new pavers around the hotel were being installed. The location was great, all the restaurants and grocery store was in walking distance. There is no Starbucks on the beach, however the bakery next door was perfect for my morning coffee and pastries. This is a very nice, clean, simple property and a very affordable price that is on St Pete Beach.
