Everything! The fact that the receptionist smiled, spoke English and was so friendly and accommodating. The complimentary cookies at tea time with light snacks. Will recommend to everyone. Great location!
It was a small space so no privacy but livable. There was not much not to like because the staff and the extras , coffee tea cookies brekkie, made up for it all.
I highly recommend this hotel for the people who want a taste of real traditional Russian style, it's basically like a small museum with plenty of old Russian collection items and history books, and the location is so convenient, metro, shops, restaurants and bus station all within walking distance, the staff are so welcoming, helpful and nice.
Little bit hard to have taxis, at this location, even uber, or Yandex.Taxi
Facilities seemed nice (e.i. sauna) but wouldn’t know because it was closed. Decent breakfast.
Bad communication and unreliable staff. It was my first time in St. Petersburg and I arrived at night from the Moskovsky (train station) with two suitcases which took about half an hour, not 10 minutes like in the description, because of the vague and incorrect directions given by the hotel upon my request (since Googlemaps didn’t work well for some reason in St. Petersburg). I had to ask strangers on the streets for help since the direction to get there. The surrounding area was not well lit, and when I finally got to the presumptive hotel property, I asked the staff if anyone could come outside because I couldn’t see anything from the gate I came through (there was only a tiny sign of the hotel on the potted plant and the whole area was very dark with many buildings). Instead, she calls me, and keeps asking me if I see a yellow building and brown gate; even though I explained everything looked yellow or brown with dim lights. She proceeds to repeat it for 10 minutes, even though I told her I am somewhere on the property and too come out. I exhausted my phone credit since I wasn’t supposed to get phone calls (in Russia). She finally came outside and showed me the way. Then she made copies of my documents for registration which I didn’t need (I was already registered and had all necessary documents), then I had to come back down to the reception multiple times and wait for her to make a payment which took unnecessarily a very long time. By the time I was ‘check in,’ the sauna and most of facilities were closed; and my phone provider was closed as well. The next day I couldn’t even leave a hotel right away, because she was nowhere to be found despite offering to help me with the phone issues she created (I couldn’t even used the data with exhausted credit, and the wifi at the hotel didn’t work well). Then other staff basically kicked me out while I asked for her and tried to explain the situation (none of them spoke English).
Very friendly and helpful staff, good wi-fi. Small gym and sauna available. Evening tea with sandwiches and snacks in addition to breakfast. Very atmospheric and historical place in general. Not far away from subway.
Breakfast could be slightly better - at least some fried eggs as an alternative. Rooms are small - kindly check what do u book.
