I enjoyed the view of the water and the jungle like grounds.
For $300 a night the rooms should be updated. The bed was of low quality and the TV did not swivel to face the bed. The bathroom was old and needed to be redone. The air conditioner sounded like it was on its last leg.
The accommodation/rooms need to be refreshed the rooms look old and not well kept. This is not a four star resort and the price is too high.
Resort was amazing. Great location, friendly staff, and fun activities and accommodations (bike and boat rentals etc) for the whole family! Really did feel like a resort getaway!
Only downside was the bathrooms. Not terrible, but something should be done there. Small flies swirling around, kind of dirty, and water resistant paint needed etc. Also outside furniture had many spider webs, needed a cleaning.
Grounds, room was big, location
Felt like i paid a little more than it should have been, for a non water view room
All the activities within the resort with no need to leave. There are many restaurants and not to mention room service. Room service arrived at the promised time. Customer service was awesome! The pool was awesome, availability or rentals, bikes, paddle boats etc was great. The property is so big that it's fun to rent a bike and explore! I was doubtful after reading yelp reviews so I wanted to see for myself. I have to say I will definitely be coming back soon with my extended family.
Bathroom needs bathroom paint which resists water damage, other than that the room was great and my family loved it!
Loved the decor and the fact that it was so close to the beach. Every staff member from start to finish was friendly and polite. The fish pond near the Bar and Grill was amazing. The water craft rental fees were reasonable. Landscaping was fantastic.
For the room we got, it seemed a little overpriced. We also were charged $35/night for parking on top of the $27/night resort fee which was a bit much. The executive suite we stayed in seemed like it was built in the late 80's or 90's, and was just refurnished to look new. The bed squeaked and didn't seem sturdy. Even the little details were overlooked. The cord hangers for the sattelite/cable cord were black and stuck out like a sore thumb against the white moulding. One (and possibly more) of the kitchen chairs had a sizable burn hole in it.
Everything about it made us feel like we were on a tropical island
Not a thing
Location was great and the beach with fire pits were fun. You almost forget you're in san diego and feels like Hawaii
Beds could be better. Little hard but not terrible. $29 resort fee and a $35 parking fee. To much with the fees
Lots of kids
Everything to like! Water activities, great restuarants with fantastic staff, Great spa, fun activities and lots of pools
Only reason I gave a few 4 stars and not all 5 stars Bocce ball court was covered in the roots of the trees next to it. Rooms felt a little dated but still nice for a 50+ year old resort. Spa had a couple of Hiccups. Two left sandals. And a Large robe for a someone that needs a 5xl. No horseshoe pits. Have to make your own.
Loved the tropical feel the property had. Bungalows felt private. Lots to do. Beautiful landscape to walk or bike around. Decent gym and great pools.
Tropical, get-away feeling; fire pits; We were able to bring our dog. Beds comfy. Generally pretty quiet, restful.
Because we did not book directly with resort, we were charged $35/day parking and $27/day passport fees. Really eats into alleged savings, and charges not included in electronic booking detail or check-in description of charges. Dinner at Caveman Pizza first night was an eye-opener. Dishes piled all over any empty tables; forgot our order even though we checked in twice while waiting with 2 hungry teenagers. In interim, son used bathroom which was so gross he refused to even think about eating at resort the rest of the visit; wish I could say he has high cleanliness standards, but he doesn't, and it must have been absolutely horrible for him to even notice. Said it looked like the workers responsible just didn't give a damn -- similar to table bussing situation, shared with Barefoot. Room was not that clean: lots of dust on surfaces, floors. Water pressure on low side for shower; with harder water, need longer to lather and rinse -- not so great for drought. Neighbors smoked on outside lanai of adjacent unit which kept smoke out of their unit, and blowing into ours. Detracts from enjoyment of all. With savvy travel consumers watching Hotel Confidential, etc, hotels need to step it up on their cleanliness and maintenance routines and food service, and staff training.
The towels were thick, the Fun cats were fun.
Let me just start by saying I have never writen a review ! But I'm not really mad ! This was our Anniversary we drove two hours away expecting to have a fun yet relaxing family staycation . Where do I begin ... The couch had stains all over it. The bed skirt was ripped .My 1 yr old sons feet were Dark Black just from walking on the tile for 10 mins ! The pack and play crib they provided had a weird ,dingy, bulky loose cover that they tied on to it . I Immediately removed it to avoid any SIDS hazard & found a repulsive filthy stained mattress pad that looked as if it handnt been washed ever...! The patio had two filthy adarondack chairs the lagoon view was a few bushes in front of a loud busy street . We sat out there for 20 mins when a RAT CROSSED OUR FEET !! The bathroom was old and incredibly filthy with mold piss & hair all around the toilet. The coffee bar was out of bagels & didn't offer a toaster. The only highlight was renting The fun cat ( large motorized chaise lounge chair) we came back to dock to eat at the restaurant that had a 20 min wait even thowe there were at least 6 open tables.. While waiting we we noticed that there was going to be a wedding we overheard the bride speaking to her wedding coordinator saying " you had me in tears before The wedding even started that room was awfull " right before this poor lady is about to walk down the aisle!! Back to dinner They didn't bring food until 45 minutes after we ordered !! They they messed up the 2 burgers we ordered ... How hard is it to exclude tomatoe on one and not grill onions on the other ? I asked the food runner the onions they forgot .. He went back to the kitchen and came to our table to announce that they were out of onions .. Mmhmm Suree I previously worked in a restaurant for a short stint yet Long enough to know it was a crabby line cook with tons of attitude and onions who relayed that message..... Grr I had had it !I asked to speak to a manager a big guy in a white coat came out to explain just as I thought they do have onions they just didn't have any cut at that moment .. He gave us as he called it a 25 % off "friends and family discount " We decided to call it a learning lesson and start driving the 2 hrs home ... Do yourself a favor and heed my warning !
Beautiful atmosphere. Nice rooms.
Not private at all. Weddings, party's are going on at the beach, kind of makes it feel very uncomfortable being there while other parties are going on.
It's a green property good for families going to sea world and nearby attractions but nothing else nearby.
The room was dirty and seemed like it wasn't touched in weeks. As soon as we sat on the beds large clouds of dust escaped from underneath and gave my sister an asthma attack. The bath tub was peeled and needs resurfacing. The heater was broken and made a loud noise throughout the night.
Bath was not clean and old and room small
Comfy beds, great views of bay, private beach jay steps away and lots to do onsite for families and kids
Over all it was a nice place. But it was overpriced, bcuz of rooms we stayed wasn't all that for it price, $34 parking? plus resort fee? it has no water view unless of course you pay more.
We liked the adult pool it was salt water and was very clean.
Excellent location on bay and near Sea World.
Horrible service. Not clean. Like a chuck-e-cheese version of a resort. No joke. Disappointing.
It was very run down and gross. The room smelled like urine, the toilet ran all night and cleaning didn't take place until after 5PM. Would NOT recommend.
The front desk staff implied that it was a pain in the ass to deal with a Kayak reservation. I had to wait for 45 minutes before the reservation "was cleared in the system". Before I booked, I read online reviews that said "there are add-on charges lurking around every corner". They charged a $24 resort fee, $34 for parking, $20 for a roll away bed, etc.
