Pros. It was in a convienient location- easy access for shopping and walking distance to the beach.
Cons. The building was not very clean and under construction. Very loud during the day - horrible for a weary traveler. The building was not very secure and we worried about our belongs when we stepped out to eat. My advice- spend the extra money on another place. Good place to stay with the bros- not as a couple.
Pros. It was a great hotel for the price. We had a kitchenette equipped with some cooking utensils. All staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and patient. It was right by a huge Walmart type store surrounded by restaurants and stores. We felt very safe the whole time and it was a great place to get a local feel.
Cons. The only downside was a leaky faucet or two and one of the Windows didn't lock. The beds were also not the most comfortable, but for the price, still not bad.
Pros. Our flight arrived in the evening so we didn't want to pay for a night at the all-inclusive resort when all we would do is sleep that first night, so we chose the Santa Maria. The hotel was close to a bus stop from the airport and right across the street from a Mega supercenter. Rooms were large and comfortable and we used the kitchen for a late supper and breakfast the next morning before we moved to the all-inclusive resort. If you don't mind the lack of an ocean view, the Santa Maria would be fine for a longer stay.
Cons. Our suite was on the third floor and there was no elevator so we had to carry our bags up the stairs. There was also a small puddle of water under the refrigerator but it was quickly cleaned up after a call to the front desk.
