Pros: Silence, location, private pool, food and staff
Cons: Matress bed
Pros: Beautifully swimming pool and location. The staff is very nice and available. Ideal place to rest out.
Cons: A lot of mosquitoes and the rooms might need some refreshing. There was some humidity in the rooms.
Pros: Pool was superb and was nice and peaceful to relax
Cons: Had a funny old smell throughout which didn't seem very hygienic so we avoided breakfast. Location middle of nowhere. Dusty rooms with very poor wifi
Pros: I have to say that the most positive point was the impeccable and welcoming treatment and the attention to detail that Guilherme, who handled all the operations, has provided myself and my family throughout the whole stay.
Cons: The only drawback is that according to published information it says the property is about 20 m from the beaches which is not correct (30-40 m).
Pros: Amazing location in the middle of nature, perfect to relax. The young Guilherme was a precious and pleasant presence, always kind and smiling. Pool and croquet field added value to our peaceful stay.
Cons: Not perfect cleaning, but acceptable. Good breakfast with fresh fruits and homemade cake. Industrial croissants should be avoided.

Pros: Beautiful property. Amazing blend of old and new in a very impressive property with nice staff. Very respectful of the castle's history and architecture while incorporating elegant modern designs to offer very pleasant and comfortable accommodations in the guest rooms, public rooms and restaurant.
Cons: Hard to walk to town and back---big climb up! After walking down and not finding a restaurant to our liking on "main street" one of us had to climb back up to the castle to get the car for all of us to drive across river for nicer restaurant.
Pros: Excellent fresh and varied
Cons: Bathroom lighting could be better
Pros: Excellent breakfast in beautiful surroundings. The room was comfortable and clean. It was special being in such a historic place.
Pros: Nice size room Breakfast staff and food was excellent
Cons: Dinner at the Restaurant Staff was inattentive and had an attitude. Food was good though poor value would not eat there again
Pros: People who stay at the pousadas are not just looking for comfort and mod coms; they expect to find a connection to the history of the country or the region, as well as a sense of discreet elegance, rather than flashy luxury. The Pousada in Alcácer do Sal provides all that and more: it is located in one of Portugal's oldest fortresses (parts of the foundations date back to the 8th century AD), and most of the rooms are in what is left of a more recent monastery that was built inside the old bastions in the 17th century. It boasts large bedrooms, a swimming pool and an excellent restaurant, as long as the indescribable feeling of being in an airy, spacious country house where you can just wind down and relax.
Cons: While we loved dinner, breakfast was a bit disappointing, and well below the standard we have become used to at the pousadas: few options, and the coffee and juices could have been better. Also, given that we were in one of Portugal's best regions for food and sweets, a few local specialities would have been Nice (there was one, but nothing special...).
Pros: Good location in a pretty small town. A short drive from the fantastic beach at Comporta. Lovely pool area with separate pool for small children. Peaceful hotel.
Cons: Pools are unheated and even in sunny 27C weather the water was rather chilly.
Cons: rooms a bit out-of-date... soft mattress
Pros: Position The building itself
Cons: No tea making facilities

Pros: Everything was great! Friendly staff, great room, excellent breakfast.
Pros: Spacious. Nice bathroom
Cons: This resort is brand new and they have hotel rooms and holiday houses. The houses are more of a hotel room though, ok for 1 or 2 nights but definitely not a home away from home for 2 weeks. Atmosphere wannabe posh and cool instead of authentic Portuguese. Huge complex, rural are only the surroundings
Pros: Amazing service! I messaged the hotel and asked to put a note in the room as it was a birthday gift for my husband. The staff was excellent, quickly replied to my email and prepared a beautiful decoration. The hotel offered us a bottle of champagne in the room. The girl at the reception spoke many languages and was really nice. Breakfast was superb, lots of regional products.
Pros: Beautiful design, gorgeous location and brand new

Pros: - The owner made available a place to store my motorcycle; - Good location, it is a small village and on foot it is possible to reach all places quickly, namely the public swimming pool (which has great conditions); - Kitchen with fridge; - Outdoor terrace;
Cons: - There should be a larger clothesline, the existing one is very small if several guests want to use it;
Pros: Owner very helpful and, his English was good.
Pros: Spotless clean, very nice terrace.
Cons: Set up of the shower was a bit odd, accessed from the room and not the bathroom. Worked out fine, though.
Pros: Parking for motorcycles
Pros: Perfect for cyclists on N2 and anyone interested in a rural getaway. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, great kitchen and terrace: brilliant. Our host is helpful and generous. Good place to lock up bikes at ground level.
Cons: The room was really small. No real windows. The bathroom was outside of the room and there was a lot of hair still from the person before. They looked the house at night so we wasn't able to go outside. At least no one explained us how we could leave due to the language issues.
Pros: Shower had good supply of hot water. Shared kitchen was large and had 2 refrigerators.
Cons: Private bathroom does not mean ensuite but it is outside room and supposedly reserved for you however this is dependent on other guests understanding that of the two central washrooms only one is shared ?.?? No plug-in in bathroom.
Pros: lovely, friendly portuguese couple running the place very local very clean fresh towels kitchen garden parking great price wonderful village close by
Pros: Very friendly hosts. Whilst they can't speak English, we had no problems being understood. Place is very clean and price is very good.
Cons: Quite a walk into town and back (5 miles round trip).
Pros: Lisa is a good Spirit of this place. The room was very clean and cosy.

Pros: The friendly service.
Pros: The hotel was easy to find, as it was signed from the main riverside street. It was very conveniently located for a one night stop on our way north.
Cons: We had to park the car quite a way from the hotel as the streets around were quite narrow.
Pros: Nice managers and location was ok for traveling through not much else
Cons: Very old hotel with old beds and linen
Pros: Everything was perfect. It was like a 5 star hotel. Totally recommend. Only downside is the breakfast. Dont expect too much :)
Pros: Very good location with a lot of free parking possibilities nearby! Everything was clean and the staff very friendly. Breakfast is not so rich but it is good and it is nice to have it included in the room rate. We really appreciated this stay!
Cons: The wc was not exceptionally clean but all the rest was perfect!
Boasting a restaurant and free WiFi, Casa do Rio is set in Alcácer do Sal. All rooms boast a flat-screen TV with cable channels and a private bathroom. All guest rooms at the hotel feature air conditioning and a wardrobe. Troia is 49 km from Casa do Rio, while Montemor-o-Novo is 49 km from the property. The nearest airport is Humberto Delgado Airport, 91 km from the accommodation.
Pros: Good location. It is near the river and the recently opened museum, Museo Municipal Pedro Nunes. Above those, we recommend the dishes in the restaurant that the owner operates, O Ninho. We enjoyed great dishes such as Carne de Porco à Alentejana and Arroz de Linguerão.
Pros: Clean large space
Pros: location on the river was awesome super view. Could walk to everything and parking was easy just down the street.
Cons: We had a bit of a mixup on check in and they gave our room to another couple. We happened to arrive at the same time to different doors and since the owners don't speak english they were not able to communicate on who the other person was. Fortunately, I know enough Portuguese so was able to navigate through the confusion and get it sorted out and ended up with the room I had paid for so everything worked out in the end.

Pros: The place is really authentic. We were looking for exactly the place like this - antique furniture and stuff. Great location and very nice people. The breakfast was not included in the price, but they did't take additional charge, though it was really great! Thanks a lot!
Pros: Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable bed, excellent shower. Lovely swimming pool. This is a small town hotel with old fashioned furnishings and fittings which you may or may not like. It is clean, friendly and very good value. The hotel is on the N2 which is being promoted as Portugal’s Route 66. It it a beautiful drive through Alentejo south to the Algarve.
Pros: The owners are very nice people and the place has immense potential.
Cons: I paid 65 euros for a room with a double and a single bed. The double bed was more a 3/4 size and my guests thought it was uncomfortable. The location was lovely, so we didn't want that to hinder our stay, but the biggest put off for us was that we had to pay 5euros for a very lousy breakfast. They should have included it in the price. They advertise a great breakfast, but there was rationing of 2 pieces of cheap ham and cheese each. There were a few apples if one wanted to eat fruit. The breakfast experience was just poorly presented.
Pros: old and traditional building
Cons: swimming pool and outside areas not clean. breakfast not included and no availability to pay extra for it

Several restaurants are within a 5-minute walk from Salatia. Castelo de Alcácer do Sal is just 10 minutes on foot.
Pros: The only positive about the hotel was the view over the Sado river.
Cons: The first disappointment was the very unpleasant smell of sewer from the bathroom. The second disappointment was the short bed of 180 cm. I am 189 cm tall so my feet were hanging outside. The third disappointment was the very poor breakfast.
Pros: The view over the river is nice and everything was very clean. Blackout curtains for night-time were appreciated as the riverfront is very bright. Breakfast was good.
Cons: We have stayed in a number of 2star hotels and this was over-priced for comparable quality by about 5Euros.
