The hostal itself is beautiful, a place to visit. It is perfectly located in the middle of Santiago. The food is very good and the staff very kind.
Proximty to St James Cathederal and center of tourist district. Did not have the luxuries and conveniences you would expect of a 5 star hotel. Was much more comparable to a 3.5 star hotel.
friendly service room too hot, no tea making facilities in room
First class ineverything. Beautiful location. Excellent breakfast. Nice staff. A superb hotel .
excelent location room was far away from the entrance of the hotel
The location was fantastic right in the heart of the historical centre. As this hotel claims to be a 5 Star GL you do not expect to be told you have to ask for a bathrobe or complimentary slippers. Also there were no coffee/tea making facilities in the room which you would expect in this type of hotel.
location not 5 star service
The location and the room Street noise
location, location, location
Location, premises, atmosphere & staff Nothing
The staff were excellent of the first order, I stay in hotels all over the world and have never meet as any as freindly. pool, sauna and gym seemed closed all the time.
Central location, courteous and helpful staff, spotlessly clean, excellent service
I thought that the hotel was lovely. We wouldnt have changed anything.
comfortable, elegant, clean. Great breakfast. great location.... out of the main tourist section but within walking dsitnce of the main sights. Great area for shopping . Staff friendly and helpful
The room's temperature was very low when we arrived. The internet is too much expensive
I liked the rooms and food. The staff at breakfast were very nice. limited use of the internet. We had been travelling for several days and needed to use the internet. I was surprised that usage was limited in such a nice hotel.
The service was excellent, perfect location and the personnel was courteous and helpful. I am used to shower curtains but they are not common in Europe.
Very helpful and friendly staff. None.
location /parking in hotel garage/size of room
Nice modern hotel, very friendly staff, walking distance to everywhere in the old town - will be back to stay again. Car parking available in public car park across the road at additional overnight charge
Location, location, location . . . A hotel of this quality should have more than one computer for patrons' usage.
modern, clean, nice design, good location no private parking, however public parking nearby
The hotel is very modern inside, very tastefully decorated and appointed. We chose it because it was very close to where our daughter lives. Staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Room and bed were a good size and very comfortable.
Nice hotel, excellent location in the city center. We did not have breakfast included but, there is a cafe across the street which is very convenient. . Staff was very friendly and always ready to help. We arrived after midnight, starving and tired and found out that hotel doesn't have restaurant or room service, anyway, staff gave us directions to go to a place to eat which is open until 2.30 am, 2 blocks from the hotel
modern clean hotel
location/convenience, staff attention to our needs for info on (a) the city (b) transport (c) meals.
Excellent position, convenient for the lanes leading to the cathedral and the shopping areas. Nice large comfortable room. Excellent dining room with large choice buffet breakfast. Reception staff helpful, especially karen. We were also offered a room at the back of the hotel. It was much smaller and with no view at all. The hotel bar was very poor and unwelcoming. There are several steps from reception to the one lift, but no 'ramp', so suitcases had to be lifted. Hotel staff will help you... If they are available.
The location was wonderful. The architecture is very interesting and the rooms comfortable. The atmosphere is a bit cold and the wifi access was dreadful.
The hotel was beautiful, clean and comfortable, and in a perfect position for visiting the old town There were no tourist information brochures/information and a separate bar area would be more advantageous
Very friendly staff. The laundry service was slow and very expensive.
Excellent position. Bar area has no atmosphere. Car park not at all apparent & not signposted.
staff were friendly and helpful beds were very hard
very close to town . friendly staff . breakfast good . no
The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient, the architecture in and around the hotel was stunning The bar was in the cafeteria and could have been a little more comfortable, but the staff were excellent. Also breakfast was a little overpriced and although it was clearly stated not included in the price, in our view the lack of breakfast made the hotel slightly overpriced.
The historical building is very beautiful, but rooms inside are made with modern innovations. Everything was very well done. Water in the swimming pool was a little bit cold. Internet in the room is not automatical.
Excellent location, very comfortable hotel with friendly staff who all spoke English, would stay there again and would be happy ro recommend to others
The hotel and staff were excellent - well done Nothing - it was excellent
The decoration, the rooms, the silence... The Cafe and the Restaurant were in very 'dark' places...
value for the money shame about the weather
Charming hotel with delightful character. Excellent facilities and convenient location
breakfast looking out at garden lack of bar food
Very pleasant room in the old part of the hotel overlooking the garden. Location is right on the edge of the old town. Stopping outside to drop off bags at a busy time (6pm).
Behind the stone facade at the front there was a beautiful hotel with a peaceful garden, and shaded rooms which were furnished with lovely old wooden features. The rooms had plenty of space and were tastefully decorated and were a treat to return to at the end of a day siteseeing.
The hotel was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good. I would go back again. I was in the front part and it was a very noisy bedroom to be in. I did stay an extra night with you and was moved to a much more suitable room.I did not feel I was on a race track.
all the staff in good humour. I loved my room wake up in the morning and my door leads straight out to the fresh air. The man in the bar really frindly and helpful.
Parking next ddor, central position (no driving], value for money, facilities No outloook, despite the ads!
Very nice hotel in all respects. Nothing
I loved the garden and the birds, it was very peaceful and relaxing. No
I like the facilities , the views. Very clean and modern rooms. Excellent treatment at front desk and employees
as there was a bar advertised but no bar opened most of the time
in a very quite area of the city and the mini bar though limited free in common with most spanish hotels there was no tea/coffee facilities in rooms
The facility was lovely and the staff was very polite and helpful. We especially enjoyed the food in the downstairs lounge and restaurant.
The hotel was stylish and well-equipped in a nice location, within a 7/8 minute walk of all the sights of Santiago de Compostela The breakfast was expensive for the buffet display on offer - and our waitress was rather casual, lacking customer service awareness.
The hotel lacked athmosphere,--But the Receptionest was very Helpfull and plesent. The hotel did not seem to be a 5 star . The Hotel is situated down the hill from the town. I think I would prefer one closed to the town center.
The room was very comfortable, both it and the bathrooms were very clean with good selection of soaps etc. Cleaning staff friendly too. The pool is lovely but very small, the steam room (turkish bath) didn't work very well and it would be nice to have a better selection of english speaking tv channels
Friendly staff, able to book in and check out early due to flight arrival and departure times. Restaurant food excelent. Expected the room size to be bigger possibly due to the photo shots shown on the web. Room size was ok though.
area positiom poor
The Palacio offerred 5 star accomodations at 3 or 4 star prices. The room was quiet, large, beautifully decorated.
The hotel was well situated and peaceful. It was modern and comfortable. It was a shock on departure on Saturday morning to discover that breakfast did not begin until 8am. This is OK perhaps on a Sunday but not what one would expect from this standard of hotel on a Saturday
The hotel was centrality located, staff was friendly, room clean and pretty big, great shower, and breakfast was very good value for money. Nothing
A good location near tourist attractions in the city center. We had a 2-room suite which was large but with a bit of an ackward floorplan. A dismal, drab breakfast. Better to eat out. Poor beds. We had to have one changed (which was done quickly and cheerfully by the staff) because it was worn and uncomfortable.
We were able to check in early, which was very nice after walking the Camino! The room had a balcony, a nice TV, comfortable beds, clean linen and private bathroom - everything someone should want in a hotel room. Very Happy.
Good, stylish comfortable hotel. Convenient for centre of City. Good value.
The breakfast was excellent and the price very reasonable. Not all the staff spoke english.
it was cheap, it had internet, and it was somewhat close to stuff it was pretty charmless and on a loud street
the location was right for us as it was cental for your needs, the staff are pleasent and gave use all the information we needed to make our stay a happy and comfortable please give our thanks to all the staff their
The air conditioning was very efficient. The wifi signal was strong. The hotel room was very clean. I felt that the soundproofing was poor - personally I experienced a lot of noise during the daytime and evening from someone in a neighbouring room playing a music instrument. In my opinion, my internal room (and I was told that all single rooms are internal) was stuffy and poorly lit.
it was very central for shopping and all sightseeing.surounded by great places to eat out and taxi station at the end of the street. i could hear the people in the room next door which i didn't obviously enjoy, especially when they went to the toilet,as it was adjecent to my bedroom.strange i thought.
Excellent location in the middle of the shopping commercial area of the centre, and close to the main attraction the Cathedral.Thank you
An excellent basic hotel, perfectly situated on the edge of Santiago's old town. If you are looking for 4 star comforts then maybe it is not for you but if want a convenient, friendly and value for money base to explore a lovely old city then this is perfecr.
Convenient location. Radio in the room. Possibility to use computer. Late check-in although in the end we got the room earlier. Room was rather chilly.
Very good location, good price and comfortable.
Central, easy to find, well-run and efficient. The room was'interior' so no view at all but extremely quiet. Room was basic, though fair for this type of hostal. The single room was overpriced, for the quality of the room, but this is always the case when compared to doubles or twins.
Location and servicses are good, but the room given to me was very small.
Very central to the city centre, quiet area, small but comfortable room with all facilities
Centrally located and within 2 minutes walk from the bus stop. Room is clean and quiet. Bathroom is small but clean.
Very central and convenient both for all the sights of the old city and the shops of the new town.
Location Very noisy and lady on desk not helpful.
Pleasant and very adequate service, very close to the city centre.
Location, very near the center and the Catedral. The staff, very pleasant and kind. Some noise at night. No place to park the car for free.
The room was very clean, you can even smell the fresh scent of the soap on the sheets. Staff was more than accommodating and you are centrally located, steps from the cathedral, parking new and old Santiago. No air conditioning, No mini fridge. No early morning wake up.
The hotel staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English. The location was very good and the room most comfortable and a good size for this price range. It was spotlessly clean
The staff was so friendly. My fiancee and I just finished the Camino Frances and we wanted our last two nights to be in a hotel so we could relax a little. This place was perfect. The rate was 45 euros the first night and 50 euros the second night. The place was clean; we had one double bed and a single bed. We also washed our clothes in the sink and hung them by the tub to dry and later in the day, the woman working there said she saw our clothes and they were very wet and she offered to put them through their washing machine because it would get them dryer than they were currently and then she could hang them. It was such a kind gesture and we accepted (after trying to figure out what she was saying to us for 5 minutes due to our limited spanish). By the evening, our clothes were even cleaner and dryer. We had a flight early in the morning the next day and the man at the front desk called a taxi for us and told us what the fixed rate would be. Excellent service! Very pleased with our stay! The towels were hard but we were used to living simply so it was not that big of a deal for us but for some people it may be!
I was clean but needs updating. Good for one night while in transit. Close to Matabiau bus / train station and city attractions. Staff was freindly. The area seemed safe and quiet. My single room was quite small. I am sure they had better rooms. They refered to my room as the small one. No air conditionning. Needs updating. Good for one person in transit.
It is in plaza Galicia, in front of the bus stop from the airport and it is also very close to the city center. It´s location it is really convenient.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. No.
Excellent location. Small rooms but the establishment was extremely well run. We were lucky with the parking - free at the weekend almost opposite but you have to fight for a spot! No catering facilities but breakfast easily available locally. Nothing.
Internet you had to go to main bldg
Nice, clean, good location, quiet. No Aircon. No Parking.
It was close to everything we wanted to see. And it was unique. It was a bit noisy outside which cannot be controled by the hotel.
The staff was friendly and helphul. The hotel is located close to the old city center. Good value for money. There is no air condition in the rooms and in summer it could be rather hot. The square in front of the hotel is quite noisy during the night.
Large room with comfortable double bed. Well-equipped bathroom including bidet. We had requested double bed on booking form, but were offered choice of that or a twin-bed room as the receptionist thought we may prefer a room on the front of the hotel. (Somebody had cancelled last minute.) He gave us both keys so we could make a choice, but we stuck with the double bed in the back room, which was a very good room although no nice view. Location of hotel excellent. Within short walk of all historic areas and 150 metres from Tourist Information office. Right beside main bus stop for airport, etc. Staff very helpful and courteous. Overall outstanding value for money.
A very well situated hotel close to all points of interest as well as the railway station and airport bus stop. There was a lot of noise in the square during the night causing interrupted sleep. A room at the front would probably not be recommended.
Good location with helpful staff
to include the breakfast at the room price
excellent location no
excellent central location. perfect for our needs. Very noisy location - booming music from clubs/bars all night long. The bed I slept on was awful - very uncomfortable. I had the worst night sleep ever! I actually had back pain because of it. It was very hard and lumpyAlso, the breakfast offered was very poor - a bread roll, a croissant and an apple! We have stayed at a Husa hotel before,in Barcelona, where we had an excellent hot buffet, so were expecting a similar standard - it was not.
Close to the center. It is located in a very noisy street. Bad smell in the bathroom.
The feeling in the bedroom was like looking at an old lady, well kept, but with old dresses.
Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms.... everything was perfect Room was very cold but when we complained they sent a heater to the room immidiately.
I had walked the Camino Santiago. It was a good standard of hotel having stayed in hostal-type accommodation for most of the walk. Location was excellent. Hospederia was very good but did not get the room type booked.
The position was perfect (next to the cathedral). I loved the simplicity of the room with its cream walls, dark wood furniture which matched the shutters, the view of the hills from the window and the soft white cotton bedlinen. I liked the lack of meaningless pictures on the walls. The breakfast was just right with fruit, bread, yoghurts, etc. and it was convenient to have a dining room where you could have lunch and dinner. It was pleasing to see that a lift was being installed. If I had been staying longer, I would have welcomed a telephone in the room and a television.
hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. As i do not speak spanish i found it very helpful that the staff spoke good english. As a vegetarian not much of a choice of hot food. May be some eggs would have been nice.
The location which was right next to the cathedral which is the focal point of the city. the monastic feel was a highlight. it would have been good to have had a laundry service and a television in the room
Lovely central position,in a historic building. Clean simple, but classic, rooms and breakfast was included in the price contrary to what we'd been told Building work was going on whilst we were there, which was noisy one morning.
Absent of ascensor and internet.
spacious room, excellent coffee, nice garden to have some good wine.
Excellent location. A few meters from the cathedral and main sights. THe restaurant is very good. Nice terrace in the back of the hotel. THe rooms are somehow noisy. Not very good insulated from noisy in the common areas.
Central location in quiet courtyard in historic Santiago. The twin room was large and spotless overlooking a wonderful feng shui garden. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant.Great attention was payed to my 2 year old grandchild. All our needs were satisfied. We did not expect private parking in this ancient part of the city and found a public care park nearby.
A lovely hotel located in the heart of "old" Santiago. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated, with excellent attention to detail. The staff were friendly, courteous and always helpful. We had a fantastic stay at this special gem!
The Hotel had a great reform very recently. The architect that designed the rooms should be denounced as an incompetent - very, very, very bad and uncomfortable.
