What are the pros of staying at Hotel Ribera?
The Hotel is excellent, staff are friendly, the location is right on the beach, and lots to do in the immediate surroundings. Rooms with a balcony have an amazing view. The views were fantastic, the king size bed very comfortable, and there was lots of entertainment around. The mar menor was so warm to swim in. The location is very good right on the seafront and plenty of bars and restaurants to try. Well situated close to ferry terminal very close to playa, only a single room but a large window overlooking the mar menor and la manga, fridge in the room that actually worked good internet. Friendly reception staff. Great room overlooking the sea. Very clean room and bathroom, with an extremely comfortable and spacious bed. Perfect location, have stayed there before and will be back there again. Plenty of bars and restaurants and lovely beach walks directly around the hotel. The view is breathtaking, the location very convenient, close to the beach and restaurants but not noisy. The hotel is very simple, but you get all you need. Staff very friendly. I will go back! Very clean, old fashioned, brilliant location, very small rooms - but ticked the box for the money- great value. Simple but everything you needed, they have thought of everything! Gave us the 6th floor triple room with balcony and sea view. Our room had a balcony and sea view, with bars and restaurants all nearby. So not the quietest of rooms, but we wanted the view and to see the activity below. The bed was amazingly comfortable and very large! Clean polite and friendly staff and right on front of the beach with a superb view from the 6th floor, loved it we will be back x. Clean polite and friendly staff and right on front of the beach with a superb view from the 6th floor, loved it we will be back x. Great location Easy parking. It's location. Staff were very helpful when my husband had an accident and ended up in the hospital. Location was superb! There were no added facilities other than a perfectly acceptable and spotlessly clean room. Definitely value for money! Have stayed before and will stay again.
What are the cons of staying at Hotel Ribera?
Bed small and not comfortable. A cockroach found in the bathroom. Internet was very poor on the 6th floor. A small light next to bed would be good. That is lacking!! No coffee-making facilities in the room and not many places open for breakfast or coffee on 2 of our 3 days. Providing a drinks bar & Restaurant would be nice. Unfortunately this was not in the hotel. All ok. Maybe needs a bit of updating. Think the glass on balcony needs to be cleaned. Also a little bed light on either side of twin beds would have been good. Pillow wasn't supportive enough and not adequate shower/hair gel or soap. It needs some electricity checkup as the lights were blinking. It was very noisy. It was dated and tired. It was not possible to get a tea or coffee in the morning. Attached cafe to hotel was closed on a bank holiday. No breakfast facilities at the time of our stay. The restaurant was not open so no option for breakfast or even to get a coffee on site - this is the only reason I marked down. Parking can be tricky. Rooms need updating. The beds were rock hard and no air conditioning - my sea view was the only positive thing i can praise unfortunately. Our rooms were just basic with no air con, far too warm at night to enjoy sleep, and we had no breakfast or any kind of food options, hotel was room only. The lady who checked us in was lovely and helpful. Patio doors didn’t lock. From day one the person above me, kept stomping around banging around for hours at a time. After 5 hours and a loud bang I shouted up, but after 5 minutes carried on. The last 3 nights were the worst as I did not sleep at all, as kept slamming doors banging none stop at 2am 3am 4am 5am 6am. This was no fault of the hotel (I did report it twice), but clearly the person above was not right in some way, as when I got up at 8am and rolled up shutter to open sliding door on Saturday, they didn't like being woken up and starting banging. Planes from flight academy next door. The room wasn’t cleaned during our stay, therefore we had no soap to wash, or fresh towels, the rubbish wasn’t collected. Parking difficult but found space eventually. Room was tired and claustrophobic. Bathroom, the linen etc all seem to come from the 1980s. Staff were unhelpful verging on rude. Most of the time when you came to reception the receptionist was outside smoking. I Can Not Sleep In 26 Degrees C! That is why I always book hotel rooms With AC! The ignorant management AND staff at the Hotel Ribera ruined not only 1 night for us, but also the next day; without any sleep it is relatively impossible to enjoy or even function the next day! I always travel with an indoor / outdoor thermometer, it usually makes hotel staff understand it when an AC is not working. Not so at the Ribera! -We had a late check-in, and around 23 it was pretty clear that the AC in the room had precisely NO effect. My wife went down to the front desk and showed the woman there a photo of the thermometer, which showed 26 degrees outside and 27(!) in the room. Instead of offering us another room (in the almost empty hotel), she “would come up in 5 minutes and FIX(!) it. We waited in suspense for the magic to happen. She showed up, and immediately could determine that the AC was Ok, just by holding her hand up towards the AC INtake.. I explained that it was NOT, and she then found a magic solution: by turning the thermostat wheel from our minimum setting of 15 degrees, to a setting of 17 degrees.. “Now OK” she said and left. I had given up arguing and it was past midnight. All night the room temp was 1 degree warmer than outside, by 06 in the morning it was as "low" as 25. I Did Not Get Any Sleep! A total disrespect for your guests! Shame! We had no balcony and cafe not available. Room was quite small and Aircon not very effective. Cat parking. Nothing really.
